Not a lot of name brands on the shelves...as expected, except Goya products. But plenty of everything else. Many outdoor and clothing items. Children's clothes and toys. Actually turned out to be a pretty good day for a stop and shop. Dropped $77.00 on goods, including anchovies, coffee pods, apple sauce, bird seed, gardening gloves, mushrooms, honey, marzipan bar, bandaids, vinegar, huge water jugs, Old Bay seasoning, Tajik seasoning, citrus scented trash bags and a paper bag to carry the small stuff. read more

Like many, the "big savings, low frills" hype first drew me here. But, instead of replacing a conventional supermarket run, it just added another stop that never made us say "I'm glad we came here." Employees aren't unfriendly, just scarce, semi-avoidant and unhelpful. Today, an employee approached me with "Sir, we don't allow photo taking in our store." When I realized he was serious, I asked for an explanation and to see the corporate policy (he didn't answer); as a Yelper, I shared that photos brought authenticity, then asked if I would be kicked out if I continued. "I've been instructed to ask people not to take pictures." I'm sure there's a reason but I was annoyed! This is Lidl not a government building. Was someone in witness protection? The visit rolled downhill when I saw a sale flyer item I wanted (gingerbread village kit) but the 3 employees I approached couldn't tell me where it was. I found it myself at the very front of the store after I wasted 5-10 minutes of my life I won't get back. For us, future return visits don't look good. If you go, here's a detailed evolution... EARLY PROS? Big parking lot with wide spaces. Fresh bakery items with some uncommon varieties (cherry jelly filled donut) plus free samples. Customer operated digital scales/printers to price your own produce/bakery items. Weekly sales, app specials and perennial markdowns. New store so inside was pretty clean and bright. SO-SO's? Most products are unknown generic brands that you roll the dice on to later learn what to buy/not buy. BYOB: bring your own bags or PAY for theirs. The wannabe department store items in those rear center aisle bins made me chuckle; felt like a swap meet "get your frozen pizzas, pajamas, crepe makers, footballs, and screw drivers over here!" The appeal is gone. So are the samples and scales/printer terminals (ppl were cheating the system). Stock availability is hit and miss, especially with sale items, dairy and baked goods. read more

This store location had a good parking lot. It's always clean and very well lit and organised inside. They have a section where you can find discounted items 30% off by the freezer section. I do like the few aisles of toys, housewares, & decor. The best item I have found was their regular store bend gummy bears. They are addictive! The staff are nice and helpful too! Best tip would be to bring a sturdy canvas tote for your groceries, go late at night less likely to find the crowds, and bring plastic bags to recycle in the bins before heading on your way out the door. This would definitely be an added shopping location for some good food finds! read more

This location normally has a lot of good finds. I particularly like the selection of organic fruits and veggies. They have added more variety in their bakery and you can make a pretty affordable cheese platter by selecting-from a wide variety of affordable cheesesteak Today on the other hand the shelves and produce section seemed bare and lacked variety. It seemed like they were cleared out! . I couldn't even find sweet potatoes and they always have sweet potatoes. This supermarket also sells dirt cheap wine. Great for not showing up empty handed to an even or a stocking stuffer. Please note that you must bring your own bag for your groceries or you have the option to purchase paper or plastic bags for your items I do have a complaint. There are NEVER enough cashiers available to check out. 1 or 2 max which can be annoying. read more

They have some phenomenal pricing if you are buying profuse and store brand items. Their sale items are generally always in stock and and not hard to find. The app makes payment a breeze. Parking is easy. One downside: staff is nearly nonexistent and seems to be trained in not interacting with customers as much as possible. read more

Lidl was great when they first opened but it's gone way downhill since. Yes, they still have some great food deals. Unfortunately, the produce area is a big mess. You will frequently see items that were (and therefore are still supposed to be) refrigerated sitting out in boxes like celery. It ends up making the produce gross after the condensation becomes room temp. It always seems like they are short-staffed... lines are slow and long. Service is never warm or friendly. I know it's work but they seem very unhappy to be there. The self-checkout lines are incredibly outdated and frustrating with errors. You almost always require employee assistance and guess what? The employee helping you is the already busy cashier. While the live plants and seasonal items like pumpkins may be fantastic deals - don't bother! You will inevitably bring home gnats that will infect the rest of your house plants or have rotting pumpkins before Halloween. I REALLY wish they would return to the LIDL they started off as. Maybe other locations are managed better? read more

I love this place! It's always so clean and bright here. Plus the prices are fantastic! Remember to bring your own bags or be prepared to buy some. Everything here is always well stocked, with store associates consistently working to make sure anything empty is promptly removed and restocked. If Lidl is out of stock of an advertised item they almost have signage stating so. Very competitive pricing in Lidl brand versions of popular items. Very rarely have items we tried not stacked up to national brands. I love all the international items that they carry. Stroopwafels are freaking amazing! Lidl has become my family's main grocery store. read more

First time coming here since they've built. I've never heard of this store and I've just experienced Aldi so I assumed they were the same store for some reason. They are very similar except you don't have to rent a cart for a quarter. The prices are pretty great and they have a different selection and options. I love the bakery section they offer, you're able to get a fresh loaf and have it sliced there by a machine. I love the option to recycle at the end of your trip and the charge on bags.i don't mind paying for bags or bringing in my own totes. I have a coupon for $5 off $30 which I will be using. I haven't experienced a negative within the store I just hope the community can respect the store and keep it clean. read more

This place is up and down the past few months. It's been more down lately. Cleanliness, disorganized aisles, carts everywhere in the parking lot, rude cashiers and just the overall attention to detail has been lost. Management needs to take a serious look into this place and right the ship before all is lost. When the signs outside the store are beyond faded, torn or just lying in the parking lot for days someone is not doing their job Getting better, but still they need someone to clean the parking lot. I get it cash is king and minimal staffing is required, but it doesn't take that more then one person to spend 30 minutes to an hour walking around picking up trash and bring back the carts! read more

Here's what I didn't like: -Some of the employees are a little confused on how to use their registers? -The milk went out three days from the date I was attempting to purchase it. Poor customer service. I was visiting my family in Norfolk, VA. I shop at Lidl's quite often in South Carolina but this one is Norfolk, this was my second visit. My cart was full and lines were long so I went through self checkout. I started scanning and as usual anything discounted required an associate to assist. I'm okay with that but when a manager walks by you 3 times and helps everyone but me, I was a little frustrated. The manager, yes I said manager came to me with an attitude and said you're not supposed to go through check out with as many groceries as I had. I apologize and said I didn't know. I asked if there was a sign and explained that I normally go through the self check out in SC. She then huffed and proceeded to talk to me as I was stupid. I was still having problems and asked should I just end my transaction and move to a line. She told me I needed to learn how to use the self check out line and proceeded to show me how to scan a produce item. She walked away and the same problem occurred. I'm being kind and leaving out our entire conversation. She was rude and made me feel like an idiot. All I can say is, this has happened each time I visited the Norfolk store. My disappointment with this store and it's management is beyond understanding. I will no longer support a store that allows this type of customer service and especially from management. read more

Absolutely loved this store when they first opened! They always had a great selection of fresh bread. The croissants were amazing! Also, the store was neat and you never had to wait in a long line because they would open up another register (as advertised). I'm editing my review due to a recent visit. I stopped by around noon to pick up some fresh bread and fruit. The bakery shelves were nearly empty and from the signs they had up for the empty shelves, it looks like they've cut down on their selection anyways- no croissants, pretzel rolls, or ciabatta rolls. The store was a maze to get through bc there were things all over the floor and I had to wait in line about 15 minutes because they only had 2 registers open. It honestly felt like I was at Walmart. I really loved this store, but now I'm not sure I'll go back. Maybe I'll try a different location. Very disappointing. =( read more

We are a military family and this store has saved us so much money! 1- bring your own bags. They will sell some to you but honestly just bring them. 2- sign up for the Lidl app on your phone. Earns you rewards and lets you use coupons. 3- be aware that some items come in and out of stock. So if you find something on sale that's not a regular item then stock up before it's gone. You can't do all your shopping here but buying meat, produce, bread, milk, eggs, etc will save you tons of money. I can't have dairy and am able to get milk, ice cream and other products here. This store has gone downhill since first opening. Seems disorganized and dirty now. I've had to return food, more than once, that was moldy and have returned spoiled chicken twice. The meat case is dirty. The staff working the floor seem unfriendly and annoyed. The cashiers are friendly however. I've been approached by pan handlers in the parking lot, too. Lidl seems to be the grocery store most of us have been waiting for. This store carries quality essentials at great prices. In addition, they are mindful of the choices in products they carry. They also give plenty incentives for customers to try items we'd not normally be interested in with their cool bargain deals that sporadically come up throughout the days of weeks. Such sensible and high-quality items for such good prices! This is becoming my favorite grocery store, especially with their bakery. I do wish they can perhaps do a bit more with their bakery items. Though they are good, they would benefit from a little more research and development. Cookies and baguette are very good. Croissant can be a bit improved to add more chewiness and turgor. A change-up in donut flavors would be cool. Lidl is taking the grocery chain industry by storm. read more

I heard a great deal about this store from my son. I didn't expect much though because I thought it would be similar to Aldi with which I am not at all impressed. I was surprised! This place boasts a larger than average parking lot which is well laid out. Upon entering, there is a bakery and produce section. I have only been here twice, but both times the bakery was nearly cleaned out. The produce section is small, but they stock a good variety. Many of the items are not typical items you find in regular grocery stores. I appreciate the fact that they carry a good bit of organic products and some gluten-free items. Their products are priced competitively. There is ample room to maneuver in the aisles. High ceilings and good lighting give it an airy feel. It's obvious they take pride in the cleanliness of the store. Both times I have been, the cashiers were talking on their earpieces which confused some of the people in line...thinking that they were talking to them. Went in to buy beer and a few other items. I was in another Lidl earlier today and the beer was $1.19 so later I decided to go to the one closer to my house to buy more. When I got there I was confused because the same beer 15 minutes down the road was $1.99. I asked about it to the cashier who called what I assume was a manager(cashier was great) asked the gentleman and his response to me was not I'm sorry let me explain it was " that's how marketing works"! I loved this store on Military Highway, Norfolk, when it first opened, great products, great prices, fantastic produce section and wonderful bakery, especially the baguettes. BUT, in the past month I have been in the store three times with only 1 or 2 registers open, lines back past produce section, no self checkout open, manager standing, talking. The self checkout needs a cashier. Every other store's software allows customer to rescan or put in code without help from casier each time. The software is atrocious. I cannot recommend this store to others until the long wait at checkout is solved! read more

Great little grocery store. Definitely a perfect option to shave a huge amount off your grocery bill. You can't be married to name brands though to thoroughly appreciate this store. I went in with an open mind and purchased all my normal grocery items but the Lidl brand. I was not disappointed one bit, and have yet to try any Lidl brand item that I wasn't completely satisfied with. The only reason for the 4 star review is your options here are limited. If you're looking for a variety of spices you'll need to go elsewhere. It's lacking in the multiple options for items department. I'd be happier if they'd cut out the section for generic socks & yoga pants and replace it with more isles of additional food options. With that being said, it has become a staple in our weekly grocery shopping. Plus it's the only place I can seem to always find "fat free hazelnut" coffee creamer. read more

This location advertises the acceptance of Apple Pay which is directly displayed on their building. If you google "payment methods accepted by Lidl" Lidl.com confirms that they indeed do accept Apple Pay, but when I approached the register to checkout earlier today and asked my cashier for confirmation of this, she explained that technically they do but the payment terminals are not equipped to process it. So after taking time, prior to visiting, to make certain that this location truly accepted Apple Pay, putting items into my cart and bringing them to checkout I learned that in this day and age of technological advance, this location failed to live up to their advertisement. My boyfriend and I have a six year old, three dogs and a baby due any day now.. we also have a very tight budget and we LOVE lidl. The prices are absolutely amazing!! Sometimes we get worried about spending $200 but then everything rings up and it's usually under $100. I've seen some people in there complaining about returns or prices or sales or whatever but the workers are always so nice. I don't understand how you can complain about prices here!! Only downside not a lot of selection with eggs on carton size amount and expensive for milk substitutes like almond and soy. From their fresh donuts at the bakery to the overwhelming choices of cheese in their dairy section. This location is very convenient to me as well, so they serve an extra star for that. My first time hearing about this chain grocery store and I absolutely fell in love. First things first I was prepared to spend about $70 on groceries in there. Wasn't thinking about my total when I went to check out. Turns out my total came up to $29.76, I had a $5.00 off coupon if I spend $30 or more. I ended up buying 3 plastic bag for 10 cent each. Love the prices and options. Hate the lines and customer service. A typical visit to Lidl goes something like this: "Oh cool, what a neat store! Look at these great loaves of French bread, and these cheap meats and cheeses, and these super inexpensive snacks and drinks. Gee, what a bargain! Now, let me checkout. Oh no, there's only one line open, and ten people with full carts already waiting in line. Well, that's no good. But I guess I'll just have to suck it up, and wait...." [Ten minutes later.] "Geez, I've been standing here for ten minutes, and now there's five more people standing behind me in line. Why don't they open another line? And what is the point of the self-checkout stations, if they're not even gonna use them? Oh well, at least I'm getting a good deal on all this stuff." [Ten more minutes later.] "Ok, this is getting kinda ridiculous. But at least there's only a couple people left in front of me... wait a second... is this Lidl employee walking over here to open a new line? I think... maybe...." The security guard was way too aggressive and in my face. Under governor Northam's executive order my disability exempts me from wearing a mask. Guard immediately was too close to my face and I explained governors order, and he told me to leave. He was harassing me in front of my daughter and I explained the executive order and he was in violation of ADA and en route to lawsuit. Treated horribly as he and his leadership don't know how to apply executive orders, instead taking it to extremes and demanding masks and offending exempt persons clearly violating laws. I called Lidl HW twice with no one picking up nor responding to voicemails. Treat people with dignity and respect and know how to apply guidance. read more

The Prices rig up different about 20% of the time and if you want the correct price it's a big deal and they have to call a manager ect. I just tell them to take it off and go on with a line of people behind me. Got out to the parking lot and they still charged me. Went back in to have a manager fix it and he was there at the item changing the price. They won't honor the price on the shelf but will change it right in front of me. Just wow. My first visit here. Very different. Somewhat like a large Trader Joe's in that they carry unusual products. Very well stocked in some sections, not so much in others. Fruits, ice cream, juices, wines are great. Bakery, come early for selection. I was here at 4 on a Saturday and shelves were low or empty. Prices are most items were very good! We could not do our weekly shopping here but it is a good place for fun shopping and to pick up a few things at great prices. read more

If I could give this Lidl a zero or lower I would. I've posted about this Lidl before. It hasn't improved. The same worker who was a jerk to me before was a jerk to me again. I went to this Lidl on Friday 11/27/21. I had hoped to find some after thanksgiving sales on turkey since I had another thanksgiving to make. I found some that had a regular price tag of .99 a pound but under that was a yellow sale sticker advertising fresh young turkeys for .29 a pound. It took me a short while to find out if the sale was for that particular brand of turkey and it was. So I grabbed two. I had other items as well including four hot wheels cars and a cookie for my son. When I scanned the first turkey, it rang up for .99 so I told a worker (the same guy who was a jerk before) that it was supposed to be .29 a pound and he said that that sale price was for frozen turkey not fresh. I told him it said fresh on the sale tag and he still argued so I said it's right there in front of the turkey and he refused to go look at the tag and kept arguing that it was for frozen not fresh so I told him to cancel my order, that I won't be shopping there again and that I was contacting the company. Which I did but I haven't heard from them. All he had to do was walk back to the case and look at the sales tag. He has absolutely no customer skills at all. Now I'm not saying the customer is always right because that is not true by a long shot. But I know what I read on the sale tag. It clearly said in big letters fresh young turkeys and in smaller letters the brand (jenny-o) and that is the turkey I had. Lidl has gone down hill since it first opened. Blown away by the pricing and special sales. You have to bring your own bags or scavenge for empty boxes, and bag/box your own items, and return your cart... I don't think this will bother most savvy shoppers. What's an extra 5 minutes of work when you are saving so much money? Most everything is house-brand, there's not much name-brand stuff (which doesn't bother me at all, I usually buy generic anyway, but they are so much cheaper than say a farm fresh house-brand). All said and done, I paid 90 bucks for a cart full of staple stuff that would have come out to closer to $150 at farm fresh. read more
