How I'd describe Lidl to those new to Lidl: It's like Aldi's but with a little more/ different selections and carries brand names. Most items are slightly more expensive than Aldi, however, occasionally there are some on sale that's cheaper than Aldi. My go to for affordable but right out the oven crispy croissants, bread, and bakery items. Made fresh every hour and at times certain ones run out. Like Aldi, does carry store brand/ brand name items without high fructose corn syrup unlike Walmart. You get more savings and member rewards points if you download their myLidl app, make an account, and scan their QR code (all free). Bathrooms would need to be asked to be open by staff if locked. Restrooms are not the most clean so be warned. read more

Some pretty interesting stuff, but I'm not sure that I'm ready to convert to a Lidl fan versus Trader Joe's. I felt like there was mostly name brand stuff, for about the same price that you'd find at Walmart. I obviously didn't have all of the comparable prices right in front of me, but I wasn't wowed. Overall I was looking for the excitement that I feel when I stroll down the aisle of Trader Joe's (but closer to my house) and I just wasn't feeling it amidst the same special edition of Cheerio's that you can get anywhere. Overall I appreciated the selection of organic produce and meats, but again, I'm just not convinced. The cheese section was pretty awesome though, and those prices weren't too shabby. Honest opinion: not convinced! I'll still drive the 30 minutes up to the Jenkintown Trader Joe's. read more

Think if IKEA and Aldi's had a baby and let Trader Joe's be the uncle... it'd be this store. The first time I visited a Lidl's was in Virginia with my stepmom. When I came back to Philly, I couldn't stop talking about how in love I was with Lidl's. I was so excited when this location was built! I come here mainly for the bread, it smells so good when you step into this store and the bakery is the first thing that you see. The bread is so fresh and sometimes you can see the bakery workers in the back, baking some delicious treats and breads. The groceries here are unique and fairly priced. They have an amazing selection of foods and snacks. I love this place! Oh, and sign up for the Lidl's rewards on the app! Groceries have gotten so expensive. I was shopping at giant and ShopRite and spending over 200 a week. I've been trying out different cheaper stores such as aldi but they're just so limited especially in the produce section. I just started going to lidl and I love it! Great fresh produce, the bakery is amazing you can smell it when you walk in. I love the little carts for the kids and the bigger carts where I can fit both my toddlers in to ride up top. The employees here are so helpful and friendly. Recently I had to ask the cashier to put a case of soda back for me without my 3 year old seeing. I didn't want to deal with the tantrum. She whispered and smiled that she got it and it's no problem. I thought that was so nice I felt like I was being a pain lol Today was the first time I used the app and I just by scanning the code I saved 17.22! My total was $89 anywhere else I would have easily spent 150 for what I got. This will be my store from now on! read more

I dont know . nice store, big ..lots of variety ,more than the aldis I have been in ( down the blvd ,plus whitaker ave , the willow grove store ) but did we really save money ..?yes and no .... some meats were insanely low ,with 30% off stickers ,but they had a limited shelf life .bought chicken breasts with this discount ,can season and freeze ,so we will see ... Rude cashier, belligerent, young black male, asked him respectfully not roughly handle our bakery items. He snapped back with "knowing his job and he's been there long enough to know. He incorrectly charged the wrong (higher prices) for our baked goods. Not exactly a first time experiencing the rough handling of our food at this place. Now, customers get the "hood" attitude with it. Forget about this place until he leaves, and this company hires a more respectful employee. If any of us acted like this at our jobs, guaranteed we'd be shown the exit. read more

Similarly to aldi, but they just opened so it's cleaner. For me prices are affordable. I couldn't obviously compare everything. Got nail polish for around $1(after sale), but it felt same as dollar store quality. long lines, but no complain cuz cashiers here doing both, stocking, cleaning and register. Or just everything in the store. so that why prices are low. some things are cheaper than aldi. so far is good, let's hope it won't go downhill over years. read more

This Germany based market opened up in N.E. Philly 2 days ago. Think Aldi, but more upscale with better quality products. You walk into the smell of fresh baked goods, as the bakery is right there. Baguettes for .99. Because of covid other bakery items are pre packaged in containers. The produce section is abundant with a lot of organic stuff. In fact they have a whole organic food aisle. The prices throughout the store are mind boggling inexpensive. The quality of everything I've tried so far has been top notch. Guacamole for $1.29 was fresh & tasty and the organic blue corn chips $2.19 were a good companion. Triple cream Brie $3.99 was nice with the baguette. Organic sliced provolone $2.19 was another winner. My friend got some nice cookies .99 for a small bag chocolate chip hazelnut, which we polished off in no time. The organic chocolate oatmeal cookies $2.99 were rich and decadent. Even the spring water .80 a gallon was good! Large selection of fresh meats, cheeses, dairy,frozen goods. Some nice international entrees and such. Got a palak paneer with rice for $2.99. I noticed that a lot of the products have good, clean ingredients. There is a good amount of unhealthy stuff here too, and about 10% of products are name brands There is a lot to explore here, including household items, clothing, etc. We were there about 45 minutes; you need a good hour at least. Checkout can be a bit slow, but we jumped into a line that was announced as closing and threw our stuff on the belt. No problem. Store was crowded, masks obviously mandatory. People were social distancing for the most part. A bit difficult, but the aisles are wide.There is a 100 person max, and there were about 20 people waiting in line when we emerged @ 10:20. You need to bring your own bags, and do you own bagging. Also like Aldi, they offer a refund and replace guarantee if you don't care for an item. On sun feb.25 at the lidl on 9175 Roosevelt blvd at register 2 was about to close the register at noon . A young short black man working at the register was very rude . I swung the credit towards me to enter the slide my credit card .The black man said don't grab and swing the swinging credit card swing because everyone grabs and swings it. I say I got it,and after said I got he say I'm not done talking .What ???? really . Are those thing on a swing for a reason . rude workers here this guy should'nt be working here and treating customer like this . Me my wife and my mother go here every month and spend a whole month of goods from each of us. I'm going back to Aldi this place does'nt deserve all of the business we give them . Not going back this manager here need to teach workers to treat customer with respect .I will be reaching out corporate becUse I hate rude workers who are'nt nice to customers who giving the business. read more

They have a nice selection of organic produce at good prices. Usually have most staples that I typically buy at Acme or Giant but not many brands I am familiar with. Large frozen section. There some unexpected items like low-carb or keto specialities and an whole aisle of non-food merchandise similar to 5-Below or Dollar General. They even have live house plants but not particularly well priced compared to Home Depot or Lowes. I was happy to find some wild-caught salmon which is uncommon in most grocery stores. The bakery seems to be one of their popular sections - lots of fresh options there. I do appreciate the pricing is well documented and signage accurate. Like Aldi, their stock changes frequently so stock up if you find something you like. Bring your own bags. Occasionally you can find empty boxes there if you forget. Checkout can be slow at peak times. They have uniformed security on site and the employees (and most customers) wear masks. read more

We decided to stop by here to see how it was inside and to pick up a few things. There wasn't much but we got what we needed. Then we got in line which was only one long line. My husband then asked if they could open another one. The cashier then told my husband very rudely he was good and he can wait in line. My husband was not pleased at all the way he spoke to him. So my husband went to find a manager to let them know what had happened. He then came back with a manager who opened up a line. My husband told the cashier it was uncalled for the way he spoke to him. The cashier then became very loud and was asking my husband what he wanted to do about it. He Kept asking my husband if he wanted to fight. My husband told the catchier he was not fighting him for something like that. But the guy then got really upset and came around the counter to fight my husband. We then told the guy he needed to step back and the manager was pushing him away. I don't know what was wrong with him but he should have been fired on the spot. Never going back to this store ever very unprofessional. read more
