I bought 2 custom hats for $150 at 5pm. 1.one of hat thread color went wrong so I have to wait. 2. I guess something with sawing machine went wrong But without any explanation, manager was just scratching my hat to take out the tread. I had to wait for 20 minutes more and that was already 7 o'clock. 3. I asked her "is the hat okay?" answer was "I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING HERE. WE ARE CLOSING NOW DO YOU WANNA COMEBACK TOMORROW?" Zillions of Caps here. It's my favorite place to buy baseball caps! and I have purchased a few here over the years. They always seem to have a cap that fits my weird shaped head. Some people are lucky and can just throw on a cap and go, not me. I have to try on 30 to 50 caps to find one that fits. And let me tell you something, when I finally find that cap that fits--the compliments just pour in... like: "Hey David, you look so much better with a cap on.." or "maybe you can finally get a date now that you have a cap on..." or "I wish that I could wear a cap like you can David but with my full perfect head of hair none fit me." I was just in here last week to get a RAMS hat to get ready for the Superbowl. They have a ton of RAMS hats in stock now and I found the perfect one after trying on 30 hats. If you don't have a RAMS cap get over here. You can't be accepted into Los Angeles society without a RAMS cap. I was quite disappointed in my shopping experience at this location today. For starters, I presented my LIDS Club card only to be told they had no record of my account. How can I have a card but no corresponding account? Second, I purchased two (2) Las Vegas Raiders ski hats at $35.99 per hat. I was only afforded a 20% discount on one of the purchases when the LIDS Club card clearly indicates 20% off "all hats." Because the cashier could not find my account, she then charged me $5.00 to activate my LIDS Club card! In effect, wiping out my savings of $5 which should have been $10 based on her inability to correctly charge my items. To add insult to injury I was charged an additional $2 for gift boxes and I asked her to place the items in those boxes which she did not do either! The salesperson Arianna (602330) became agitated when I was questioning the bill and kept on asking me if was going to make the purchase. It was rude and the place was empty so I have no idea what was her hurry to get me out of the store. Even more insulting is the series of government taxes on two (2) items which came to $7.35! No wonder The Third Street Promenade is a ghost town these days. The store # is 5816 and it's located at 1413-B Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and the purchase occurred at 2:58 PM. And on top of all this I received "zero" reward points when the entire point of traveling from Venice to Santa Monica was to get reward points and display loyalty to a local retailer. Instead, I was ripped off and treated like a non-entity by LIDS and this shopping experience was awful. I could have purchased the same items at a lower price and no nonsense experience online and avoided the retail rhetoric from Arianna who doesn't seem to comprehend what pays her salary which is customers like me! Great selection...... trash service!!!! I had multiple hats in my hand, waiting at the register, practically begging to pay. After 10 unanswered "excuse me's, I finally spoke up and said "hey I'm trying to give you money" the employee there said " yeah we're doing a return hold on" first of all you don't tell a client to "hold on". Secondly... how many people are needed to do a return for one client when you have 20+ customers in the store?!?!? I set the hats down, left and won't be back. I came in tried to get 2 hats.. their POS glitched and charged me but they stated because the POS didn't make a receipt there was no transaction.. I showed them that it went through on my end and I'd like a refund if they wouldn't give the hats I PAID FOR.. I designed a custom family crest to have digitized and put on a hat. I originally went to the Culver City location, and I didn't get much direction about the digitizing process. The result was a digitized design that didn't look good at all. I came to this location for a second opinion at one last shot to figure it out. The manager here (Aronis) was AWESOME. He knew the problem in 2 seconds. Then he called corporate and had them make the necessary changes in less than 5 minutes. Then he even embroidered a "defected" hat so I could see what it looked like before making a decision. It looked perfect. Thanks so much for the help! When it came time to pay, it turned out getting his name printed was more expensive than the hat itself. At that point, my son was already excited and it was too late to cancel. Pretty much your standard Lids store. Good selection of hats and they always ask you if you want to buy a 2nd hat for 50% off. they have a rack of kids sized hats as well. What the heck is up with the register system though? You swipe your Visa check card and they don't let you choose the option of Credit or Debit, it just goes directly to debit and then you have to enter your PIN on one of those old school Veriphone devices that don't always work. None of this 2 for 1 tom-foolery I just want a cool MLB or other fitted hat for a decent hat, I don't want to drop $50 when I come in. I love hats and enjoy having multiple ones so I can always change up the pace and keep them looking brand new but in the past few years I've really scaled back the number of hats that I've purchased. They went from being about $20-$25 to $35+! Like I said, this store has a great selection so if you're going to spend the money on a hat I recommend coming to this Lids. That said, as a fan of San Francisco sports teams, I love that I can cruise down here and get Giants/49ers hats with relative ease. Lids offers an amazing variety of caps and woollen hats, which makes it so difficult (in a positive way) to decide what to buy. Had a forgettable experience at Lids in SM last week when I spent an hour calling to get some info and the lines were down. Went in hoping not to have my time waisted and found the item I wanted,then was told I couldn't use my credit card as the phone lines were down. I get a call back from the regional manager to clarify what happened. I explained to him the situation and he was very apologetic asking me for names of the people that we're working that day which I never took note of. But after all that his best effort was a sorry, no other incentive for me (who was not at all impressed with what went down that day) as a paying customer to go back there. So I won't be!! read more

I received great service on a recent trip to this location. Even though they were already sold out of items I wanted. Once realizing the Santa Monica location did not have what I needed I began to call other area Lids. However the service I received was subpar. A woman over heard my misfortune and took over the search. Maribel went out of her way to assist me. She called other stores and using her clout was able to secure holds on the poplar items I needed. I still don't know why I purchased a hat here, this is by far the only worst lids I ever been too..no employees asked if i needed help when it was obviously looking for a fitted hat and it was not like their busy but i end up finding the fitted hat I wanted, went to cashier, a short chubby Hispanic girl, with no greeting or acknowledgement just said get another hat for half off and I politely said no.
