She does magic on my really really tight back. I have a lot of neck, shoulder and lower back issues as I had sports injuries from before. After coming Life Acupuncture, I can really feel my back is doing a lot better. In addition, this place is very cozy (compare to most of the other acupunture places). I love the interior. I've had a right shoulder/trapezius/neck pain for over 2 years, that got progressively worse as time went on. Due mainly from my work, staring at a computer the majority of the day, bad posture standing up while looking down at a desk, holding the phone using my right ear and shoulder while writing, etc. It was also made worse lifting weights and swimming. This led to just constant nagging pain through the day, muscle knots, and trouble sleeping at night, as well as just bad quality of sleep. I really like playing sports and working out, but a lot of that had to come to a halt. I was taking NSAIDS and other pain meds, getting massages, stretching, but it got to the point where it wasn't helping enough. I had tried acupuncture a couple times before at another place in SF, and it helped some, but the acupuncturist just stuck some needles in me, left me alone for awhile, then took them out and I was on my way. Not much other consultation or advice. I then checked out Life Acupuncture because I happen to live really close by and saw that it had opened. Totally different experience with Dr. Lisa Jeong. I have been getting a combo of acupuncture, cupping, and tui na massage, and feel so much better (80-90% and still improving). I especially love the cupping, feel it has loosened the muscle knots and increased the blood flow allowing it to heal. Dr. Jeong really helped me get my health on the right track and in a much more positive alignment right from the start. With her exceptional skill and attention to detail, I've been able to improve my general health and mobility, which in turn has helped improve my quality of life immensely. Intense, chronic pain used to be just another part of my everyday life. This has largely gone away now - there's still some work to continue doing, but Dr. Jeong has helped me shed pain in my joints, tendons, muscles, and nerves. I've had several surgeries and injuries over the years, but I'm at the point now where I am feeling vast improvements as a direct result of treatment. It may be cliché to say she saved my life (or exaggerated), but at the very least, she certainly helped me begin reclaiming it for myself. There are some insurances that are covered, but not mine - I knew that going in, but her treatments have helped immensely, so I continue to return regularly. The biggest improvements for me have come via acupuncture and Tui Na, though every treatment thus far has provided a positive outcome for me. This past week, I had some issues arise from a few different ailments. Ultimately, this lead to some pain issues that constrained some of my mobility. My experience with Liza is totally negative. My mom has a knee replacement last year and has been having knee problems. We tried both Western and Chinese medicine but nothing works. We recently decided to give acupuncture a shoot. Before my mom initial visit, we quote the initial visit would be $260, follow up would be less ($~160). Even though it is expensive, we really want to try out given the excellent reviews. She also talked like her skills was out of the world. She can get the moon for us if we want..... Long story short, my mom paid ~$360 on initial and she didn't know why after the treatment. When I called Lisa the next day and asked for clarification, she said it was included the massage... She said $260 acupuncture and $60 massage. ($260+60=320... So what about $40 extra). But keep in mind that my mom didn't agree the massage treatment as she didn't like anyone to touch her. She didn't even ask permission to preform such job. Well, my other sense that if the treatments helped her feels better, we are okay with the charges and continued with the whole treatments... So I didn't question more because I don't want her to get upset... I also wanted to hold off complaining as she claimed: "it will be better after 4 treatments". Fine! She also insisted the massage is a must to speed up the healing. As we continued the treatments with massage. We went second, third, forth visits. Each charged differently: $270, $270, $255. Two times a week. Each charge differently... But same treatment. Even $270 for follow up ($160+60)= $220, but why different charges. No explanation.... After 4 treatments, my mom refused to go there again and think she is ripping off. She might be good, but don't do magic. She changed words every time. I don't mind to spend money if it works, but seems to be just a lie. Updates: Dr. Lisa. You are clearly not a professional dr. Where did you get your license? You don't even qualify to become a dr. Keep in mind that pt privacy is a key. Any medical info related to my mom is clearly protected by HIPPA. Whatever the discussion between patient and Doctor are not suppose to share with public. I hope you don't make the same mistake again. Yes, I made a mistake on the amount of initial visit (I double check) which you did charged $345... My mistake... So you deserve one star. Anything else is just a BS. You can't make any judgement if I care my mom or not. Most kids do care their parents. If I do not care, I wouldn't pay for all treatments. I wouldn't call you and ask for status. I couldn't be there with her because I work 7 days a week. Second, you didn't itemize all charges. No explanation, perform job without permission. My mom refused to come back not because of the pain. Her pain didn't come back during or after my trip to LA, but she did not want to come back even right after the 4th treatment--- mainly because your treatment did not help her pain. She felt better on her 2nd treatment because of her anti-inflammatory medication. We know because my mom still has pain 2-3 level all this point even we stop the treatment. So it is clearing not your treatments make my mom better but the medication she is on. I understand there is no promise on acupuncture even u said all the magic you do to my mom on her initial visit.... We believed in you and gave you 4 chances, during 2 weeks period and spent over a thousand in two weeks. You don't even deserve one star; how unprofessional you are and how you are cheating the community, share patient privacy. Last thing I want to share with everyone. Dr. Lisa offered to check my insurance. If my insurance allows, she will back date to last year so can do more treatment for us... Is it cheating? Why yelp doesn't have 10 stars? Dr. Lisa Jeong is a superstar. I started to see Dr. Jeong over 1 year ago for acupuncture and massage and I saw her every week since then. I am a physician trained in western medicine and I have always integrated my health treatments with Chinese medicine. I have had acupuncture for over 10 years now and I can say that Dr. Jeong is certainly in the top 1% of her field. My health has improved dramatically since I have seen her. I lost 27 pounds and my skin looks amazing. I don't have any more joint pain and my asthma and irritable bowel syndrome are gone. Dr. Jeong knows what she is doing! I love the new spa because it makes me feel so pampered. I can spend there the entire day: facial, sauna pod, vanquish for weight loss, electro-stimulation to tone my skin, massage and acupuncture... I've gone to many different acupuncturists for the last 20+ years and Dr. Jeong is definitely the best. I've had chronic repetitive stress injuries due to computer work and haven't had much luck with treating them. Due to a recommendation from a friend, I decided to give Dr. Jeong try and it has been well worth it. After only 4 sessions, I can tell that my wrist/arms/shoulders are getting better! From my past experiences, typical acupuncturists focus mainly (for the most part) on the specific physical area of pain. Also, many previous doctors just insert the needles, walk away, come back to remove the them - and that's the entire treatment. What I really appreciate from Dr. Jeong is that she treats the injury from a holistic mindset and skillset. Instead of "just" acupuncture, she does that with Tui Na (deep tissue massage), cupping, herbal medications, as well as dietary recommendations. Lisa's skills are top notch. She was able to heal me of Bell's Palsy where others have failed. She really cares and listens to you, allowing her to get a better sense of how to treat you. I have never ran into someone that was so skilled at healing someone and cared about you at an emotional level. Her technique with acupuncture is the best I've ever had. It's so relaxing and practically painless. Her choices of where to apply the needles are very accurate to what you need. When she first gave me Tui Na massages my muscles were stiff like an old tree, every touch was painful. If this rating could be anything lower than one star, I would give Life Acupuncture that rating. I am skeptical about all other reviews after my visits there. To make a long story short, I had asked Lisa Jeong of Life Acupuncture if she was contracted with my insurance company. She told me she was not. After two visits and after my claims to my insurance company, I had found out that Life Acupuncture was in fact contracted with them. So, not only did Life Acupuncture take my out of pocket, full payment ($725), they took the money my insurance company paid to them! I was outraged! I called Life Acupuncture, confronted them, and only then did Lisa Jeong tell me that they would pay me back the insurance payment sent to them. My out of pocket cost was $725 total for two visits and the contracted cost was $176 they were paid by my insurance company for those same two visits. Now they want to pay me the $176 the insurance company paid them? I think NOT! They should, at the very least, pay me back my full $725 I paid out of pocket to them up front! They were contracted with my insurance company to be paid at a lower rate!!! How dare they!!! Make sure you check if they are contracted with your insurance company. Do not EVER take their word for it because they may lie to you and take all the money as happened to me. Fortunately, after dealing with this fraudulent activity for many months, my insurance company made me whole and will go after them on their own. Do not patronize this establishment! read more
