Deeply Disappointed with Life IVF - Please Read Before You Choose This Clinic I normally don't write reviews, but after my experience with Life IVF (Arcadia & Irvine locations), I felt it was important to share in hopes of helping others avoid what we went through. We started our IVF journey at the Arcadia location, expecting a full-service clinic. What we quickly found out is that there is no doctor on-site--all procedures, including retrieval and transfer, are done 45+ miles away in Irvine with Dr. Yelian. The only doctor at Arcadia was Dr. Johnson, who only offered brief telephone consultations. During my treatment, I never saw a doctor in person until the day of egg retrieval and embryo transfer. That alone was unsettling. What made it worse was after my egg retrieval, Dr. Yelian mentioned I should look into adenomyosis--which was incredibly disheartening since that was the main reason I was pursuing IVF to begin with. It was clear he hadn't even reviewed my file. I felt like just another number in a system that prioritized volume over care. Following the procedure, I experienced severe pain that required a trip to the ER. Not a single nurse or doctor from Life IVF followed up with me, asked how I was doing, or offered any aftercare guidance. The lack of compassion was astounding. Then, after our first embryo transfer failed, I wasn't even informed by a doctor. Instead, a nurse casually told me the transfer didn't take--without even checking if my husband was present to support me. She offered no next steps, and it took three days of me calling repeatedly to finally get a callback from Dr. Yelian. After everything, I made the decision to transfer my remaining embryos to another clinic. Shockingly, Dr. Yelian tried to scare me during the required phone call by saying other clinics might "put the wrong embryo into you." I was appalled that a doctor would say such a thing--clearly a fear tactic, and highly unprofessional. In the end, we found a new IVF clinic, where we received thoughtful care and attention. We had a successful first transfer and now have a healthy and happy 1-year-old. It's taken me time to write this review as I've been busy with our preemie and adjusting to new motherhood, but I can't stay silent. People deserve to know what they're walking into. If you're considering Life IVF in Arcadia or Irvine, please be cautious. There is zero continuity of care, minimal doctor interaction, and very little compassion shown throughout the process. I am writing this review to provide an impartial account of my experience, independent of the clinical outcome. My wife and I were referred here via Kaiser. While we understood that IVF is a complex process, our experience was defined by a lack of guidance, transactional interactions, and poor communication. Initial Consultations and Onboarding Our journey began with a confident in-person consultation. However, I found it concerning that the doctor did not review our labs or medical history during this meeting. As first-time IVF patients, the terminology and contracts were overwhelming. The "welcome call" intended to explain the paperwork was unhelpful; the staff member was difficult to understand, and the specifics regarding the limitations of our plan were not clearly articulated. Communication and Administrative Hurdles The first major issue occurred after our first round. When our embryo testing came back "inconclusive," we received a brief email and one missed call. When I attempted to return the call five minutes later, I was told I had to schedule a formal doctor's appointment. To speak with someone within 24 hours, an additional fee was required; otherwise, we had to wait 72 hours. After a series of missed connections and scheduling errors on the clinic's part, we finally spoke to a doctor, but received no "next steps" or expert guidance--simply an instruction to return when we were ready. Financial Transparency and "Transactional" Care During the second round, we were blindsided by unexpected charges. We were told mid-appointment that we owed $500 because we had exceeded a set number of visits for the extraction period. This "per-visit" fee was buried in the contract and never verbally highlighted during onboarding. When we filed a complaint, a different doctor acknowledged that communication was a recurring issue with their newer staff. However, the subsequent "clarification" of our contract felt cold. We were explicitly told that the clinic's low-cost business model does not allow for "hand-holding." It was even suggested that other clinics would not take our case or would simply "drain us" of money--a statement we found ironic, as that was exactly how we felt at this facility. Final Assessment The service throughout was strictly transactional. There were no follow-ups, no strategic game plans, and no expert consultations to review why a round failed or how to improve the next. To this day, we have not had a follow-up conversation with the doctor regarding our last round. While some staff members are pleasant, the overarching culture treats patients as numbers on a checklist. If you are looking for a partnership or a medical team that provides professional guidance and empathy, you may want to look elsewhere. Here, the expectation is clear: provide payment, and the clinic will perform the task, but do not expect any support beyond the bare minimum. read more

The most humble and accepting IVF center and team one can ask for. They are always so welcoming and happy to see you and the process you're in. Everything is so well organized and appointment times are on point. No additional waiting to see a nurse or Dr. If you are looking to do IVF, trust me we went through 3 different places and life ivf was the most forthcoming and honest and most affordable (if that matters to you). Would certainly recommend you doing one of their orientation meets. We are very greatful! read more

After interviewing many clinics in the Southern California area, we narrowed down to Life IVF Center. We didn't realize how different pricing could be at all these clinics. Some charges 30k+ for a single cycle, which is crazy to us. I was turned away by a few clinics as well given my age and circumstance. They told me I needed at least 3 cycles to succeed. After merely retrieval and one transfer cycle at LIC, we are pregnant with our baby at age 39! Medical team at LIC is fantastic for a fraction of the price. Nursing team and front desk team are helpful. They really took care of us. We will be forever grateful. We monitored at LIC Arcadia during our cycle. Thank you all! read more

Clean place, short wait time, and friendly staff that are accommodating. Although the ultrasound technician was a little rough in the vaginal ultrasound (in my opinion could've been more gentle as I have went to other IVF facilities and u/s by obgyns). Make sure you bring a mask as they do require a mask for the whole visit. Bathroom located right outside. When I'm writing this process is because I'm in the middle of the IVF and so far honestly they are the best one! With that said before I found out about this place I was in IVF clinic in Torrance it was first of too expensive. Doctor and the nurse was all about the money barely helpful. It was like you ask them question and she was so embarrassed or shy for each question you want to know. So however, once I found this place and went to the seminarie I was looking forward to work with them. I transferred all my paper over to them and what I love is they have a portal where all you info etc you need is right there. Well written down and explanations with videos how you will take the shot etc. Not even the staff is really attentive and helpful I had so much question and they listen to you and answer everything they can. This place is not personable at all! This negative review is based on the care/interaction I had at Life IVF, not the results (as results can depend of many factors such as age, health). 1.) During the initial consultation, it was only a Zoom call with the nurse practitioner. She arrived 14 mins late to the call. We ended up speaking to her for 30 mins. Without reviewing our medical records, she asked us if we would consider surrogacy twice. That was kind of odd. Then Dr. Yelian showed up toward the end and only spent 8 minutes talking to us. This should have been a red flag on non personal this place is, yet I was impressed because the doctor had MD and Ph.D. 2. Throughout the IVF cycles, the ultrasound was done by a technician who was not experienced. Almost every single visit, she struggled to use the ultrasound machine and need to get someone to help. 3. All communications are through the coordinator or their portal only. Sometimes the nurses called. 4. After a few failed egg extraction, I asked to speak to the doctor to discuss other alternative methods. You hear back in 2-3 days and he spends less than 2 minutes talking to you. 5. After failed egg extraction while waiting in recovery area, the doctor doesn't even come to tell you the results. We have to learn through a nurse. 6. After our 4th egg extraction and had a fertilized embryo, PGT-A testing should abnormality. We received a document through patient portal. Then a week later, the doctor called to let us know. So insensitive!!! When I picked up the phone, Dr. Yelian was annoyed and the first words out of his mouth were, "you are so hard to reach! I called you a few times already!" I did not see any miss calls and was 100% I did not miss any of his calls. 7. This clinic didn't even explain to us the difference between mini IVF vs. full IVF. The whole time we didn't even realize this clinic only does mini IVF, which doesn't work for all patients. We were eager to start IVF and picked this clinic because we were impressed with the doctor's multiple degrees and it was covered by our company's fertility insurance. I originally went to the Irvine location because we thought our insurance covered our treatment. After some debate about whether or not our insurance covered services, we started coming here after we were officially told we were pregnant. So we finished out our IVF journey here with our obstetrical appointments. We just had to pay out of pocket, but it was worth it to not have to drive to Irvine once a week. The staff here is very nice and helpful. We did our blood tests and ultrasounds here. It is less busy than Irvine and you do get your test plans faster. They just don't take insurance, which is a shame. I'm sure a lot of patrons would come here if they accepted insurance. Overall a great facility with great staff. read more

We highly recommend Life IVF Center, led by Dr. Frank Yelian, MD, PhD. They have a headquarter located in Irvine and another location in Arcadia. Both offices have the newest technology equipment and a big team full of very caring nurses and specialists who are there to help you through your fertility journey. My husband and I had been trying to conceive for several years before we finally decided to seek fertility treatments. We interviewed more than 5 fertility specialists and ended up with a doctor in the San Gabriel Valley who recommended IUI procedures because it is more affordable and less invasive. However, the success rate for IUI is lower than for IVF. He discouraged us from IVF because I had low ovarian reserve due to my age, which was 41 at the time. We tried several rounds of IUI and ended up with my very first pregnancy ever. We were ecstatic, however, that happiness only lasted 8 weeks when we had a miscarriage. We were heartbroken but not discouraged to continue with our fertility journey. One of my best friends recommended Life IVF Center to us in 2022. My friend and her husband conceived successfully under Dr. Yelian's care several years ago. We found out that from time to time, Dr. Yelian offers complimentary introductory seminars which are both available online and in person. Dr. Yelian usually raffles out a free round of natural cycle IVF treatment to a lucky couple. We didn't win but after we attended the seminar, we were inspired by Dr. Yelian's positivity that low egg count does not mean there are no good quality eggs. There are so many success stories from Life IVF Center. My husband and I decided to make our official switch to Dr. Yelian in early 2022.    After several rounds of egg retrievals and genetic testing of embryos, we finally harbored and froze some precious embryos after about 1.5 years. We recently graduated from Life IVF Center during the summer of 2023 and moved on to our Ob/Gyn. We are so thankful for Dr. Yelian and his team of nurses and technicians at both the Irvine office and the Arcadia office. Everyone we work with is always so caring, patient, and kind to answer all of our questions. We live close to Arcadia so we do most of our monitoring at the Arcadia office. The Arcadia team reached out to us even after our graduation and offered to stay in touch if we have any questions and to share our future milestones. Everyone takes great care of us every step of the way. I also like how our personal IVF records are all accessible through a very organized online system which keeps us up to date on every procedure. Dr. Yelian understands that every patient is different and everyone needs a treatment plan specific to their circumstance. In fact, treatment plans are reviewed and adjusted after every visit! Dr. Yelian and his team have been very helpful and encouraging, even during times when we felt like giving up. Our best advice is to not give up and maintain a positive mindset. The team at Life IVF Center - Arcadia are wonderful. My husband and I had previously undergone 3 IVF stimulation cycles and 1 transfer (resulting in miscarriage at 7 weeks I believe due to poor embryo quality) at another clinic and were seriously considering going down the egg donor route before we decided to switch to Life IVF to give ourselves one last chance. Turns out, that one last chance came in a 'package deal' of 3 chances, which, if anyone has been through IVF, the financial appeal was too good not to pass up. Bear in mind, Life IVF and Dr. Yelian's philosophy is one rooted in minimal stimulation, focused on quality over quantity. While this is still debated within the medical field, and it could be argued that three 'mini IVF' cycles is equivalent to one traditional IVF cycle, all I can say is the results spoke for themselves. Rather than pump my body with the maximum amount of hormones to yield the highest number of eggs possible, we used a quarter of the medication than I was using at my previous clinic, ended up with higher quality embryos and I am now pregnant after our first transfer. I obviously can't speak for anyone but myself, as we are all painfully aware of how different our bodies are, but we cannot be more thankful to have found this clinic. I picked the Arcadia branch as it is located closer to my home, which is where the majority of my monitoring appointments was carried out. It should be noted that all procedures are held in the Irvine branch and Arcadia doesn't open on the weekend so there will definitely be instances where you will have to go to the Irvine branch. The front desk at Arcadia is great - Kathy did my orientation & intake, was a great communicator and very organized. Invoices and Scheduling was easy and straightforward (shout out to Aubrey and Stacey!). Wait times are short and I often found myself with only one other patient in the giant waiting/seminar room. My phlebotomist, Aileen, was lovely and gentle with blood draws and my ultrasound tech, Carla, was the sweetest and most patient, taking the time to explain what we were seeing and was always positive and reassuring. My nurses, Isabel and Andrea, who I would check in with every visit, were also great. Results and instructions usually come in within an hour (via the online portal and a follow up text/phone call) and the best part: medication is dispensed and can be collected directly at the clinic rather than go through the often anxiety-riddled pharmacy game. If I had any questions, a quick call could be made to the nursing team or through the easy-to-use online portal. The Arcadia nursing staff is also available and has access to your records if you have any questions that may need Dr. Yelian's attention (Additionally, you can set up a phone appointment with Dr. Yelian for an additional fee or put yourself on a wait list to be called if he gets an opening). The Irvine clinic is a much bigger operation with more staff and patients, which has its pros and cons. My experience there was limited to my procedures and the odd weekend monitoring appointment, but everyone encountered was professional, kind and polite. The finance department also operates out of Irvine and it is worth talking to them about all the various options and add-ons to your IVF package. The nurse in the procedure prep room, Eden, has a calm demeanor and is comforting at the times you need it most. All interactions with doctors, Dr. Wu (for my retrievals), Dr. Yelian (for consultations) and Dr. Okour (for my transfer), were rather short, but hey, they got the job done and absolutely can't be faulted for performing the miracles that they do. A massive thank you to the entire Life IVF team for getting us through the most difficult time in our lives. We will hopefully be back when we're ready for our second! TL;DR Great staff, efficient clinic, minimal stimulation IVF (mini IVF) approach, will also need to travel to Irvine clinic, medications dispensed in-house, good doctors, lack of (but note not poor) bedside manner made up in efficiency, financial affordability and performance of miracles. I came to know about Life IVF from a friend who is pregnant after 1 cycle of IVF with them. I am 31 with unexplained infertility for 6 years, I've done 3 times IUI with no success. This is my first time doing IVF and I am overjoyed that I am finally pregnant for the first time after 1 cycle of IVF. My first impression with Life IVF was very good, especially how responsive they are. I called the Arcadia office, and it was always the same person (Fiona) who followed up with me, which makes things very clear. She was very patient in explaining to me everything that I needed to know, and they always reply to my email in less than 10 mins. I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Yelian within the same week so I don't have to wait too long to start my IVF cycle. For my first consultation with Dr. Yelian, he was late for 2 hours, which is understandable since he is busy. But he didn't talk much during the consultation, it was more of me asking questions and leading the conversation, and the call ended in 6 mins. Second consultation was after the first ultrasound and blood work, the call ended in 1 min and he just told me everything is good. I was expecting him to explain to me more. The ovarian stimulation went well. The instructions in the patient portal are very clear. For the egg retrieval, I requested local anesthesia. It was still painful, but manageable. What I appreciated was the nurse called me back the next day to make sure I'm doing okay. One week later, I received my embryo status report and I've got 8 embryos! I would like to share about my experience doing hysteroscopy with them at Irvine. I was very worried that it would be painful, so I requested local anesthesia. But everyone including the front desk staff, nurse and doctor told me that it is not painful, so they didn't administer the anesthesia. From this I see that they're not money minded, because they could have administered anesthesia to me when I requested it. In fact, it was really not painful at all. The cost for hysteroscopy is $2k. In the following month, I did my embryo transfer with Dr. Yelian. It was my first time meeting him, and he was so friendly! 10 days later, I found out that I was pregnant! I couldn't hold my tears when I heard the news from the nurse (Liya), she congratulated me and gave me a hug. That was very sweet of her. This is the first time I've got a positive pregnancy test. It still feels like a dream! For the progesterone medication, I am so glad that I do not have to do the injection, as endometrin is enough for me. Overall, I had a very good experience with Life IVF. All the doctors, nurses and staff that I've met in both Arcadia and Irvine are all very kind. They provide such a good service and the price is much more affordable than other IVF clinics. I had consultations with multiple fertility clinics and none compare to Life iVf! I was turned away and not taken seriously because I was young in age. The doctors and nurses seemed to think I didn't actually need the help but I was diagnosed with PCOS so conceiving was a challenge. My husband and I struggled for 3 years before the wonderful staff at this facility helped us achieve our goal. From the Front Desk lady, Phlembotomist, Ultrasound technician and the LVN they were nothing short of amazing! I felt heard and seen. The pricing is also affordable! I feel so blessed to have come across this clinic (: If it wasn't for this team I wouldn't have been able to meet my baby boy! Born May 18th 2022 @ 12lbs and 21inches long. Life IVF has two locations i mostly frequented the Arcadia location. I loved the nurses they were always polite and kind. Dr Yeilin and Dr Johnson were knowledgeable and willing to answer my questions. You will mostly deal with the nurses on the majority of your visits and see the Drs for your consultation, egg retrieval and transfer. Also alot of the communication is through your patient portal and asking the nurses questions. Be aware you will have to sometimes come back for meds so its best if you live close or have time to wait. The biggest plus i found was they are the most affordable clinic i have found in southern California. If you are looking for affordable place, and ok with quick appointments and minimal medication Life IVF is the place for you. I just graduated from my first cycle and we were successful. read more
