Been a member here for 10 years pay my monthly 145.00 and the place is packed most of the time so one would think that Lifetime could keep the water fountains working properly and I mean not just one but all of them. Really guys can't afford to maintain the water fountains huh. It would be really nice to get a fresh cool drink of water after a long workout but I guess the clowns who run this place think that a warm low pressure drink from a half clean water fountain is good enough. My husband and I joined in January 2020, excited about the large gym and all the things they have available, as well the hot tubs! We went every day 4x week until the pandemic shut it down. We froze our membership for as long as we were allowed and then ultimately cancelled it. Here were my impressions while we did our 3 months going 4x week: PROS - huge gym with lots of machines, classes, pools, racquetball courts etc - locker rooms, showers, and some private dressing rooms - good cafe on premises with smoothies and food (I only had the smoothies) - easy parking in a massive lot - I never had any problems with crowding, but we also tended to go off-peak in the evenings. CONS - very expensive per month - the outdoor hot tub is ONLY open when it's hot outside when you won't want to be in it because it's so freakin hot and humid in NC; extremely disappointing. The outdoor hot tub should be open year-round, or at least all months except Jan/Feb. The indoor hot tubs are large but they are indoors and I hate indoor ones; whole place smells like chlorine and it's just no good. Also the pool area did not seem particularly clean. Needs much better maintenance and upkeep. - Locker rooms need more regular cleaning. When we'd go toward end of the day (after 8 pm, the bins were overfilled with used towels; no reason someone couldn't more frequently empty them. -threadbare rug in the lobby. Come on, people! With the membership dues you charge, there should be nothing threadbare or old and used looking in this gym. We were sad when the pandemic happened and stopped all our fitness progress for quite a while; we were really on a roll! Wanted to really love Lifetime but with the huge fees and substandard cleaning and maintenance, AND the extremely limited months the outdoor hot tub is open, we didn't think it was worth coming back. read more

Update: Since this review, the club is receiving a very minor refresh. Based on this club and its current condition, Life Time does not take pride in offering anything of high quality besides their endlessly increasing fees. This club is poorly maintained (see photos of rusting and terribly damaged equipment) and potentially hazardous to your health. Check ALL equipment thoroughly before use because you may end up with an infection or injury. My crew and I look forward to swabbing various surfaces in this club to test for the presence of MRSA and various other contagions. We suspect that we will find contamination in excess of 87,000 ppm on most surfaces. To compare, your toilet seat at home probably comes in at 370 ppm. The men's locker room smells putrid, based on off-peak nighttime hours so imagine the odor at 1700-1800! Locker interiors are rarely cleaned also. Whoever the regional manager is clearly needs to be part of a corporate restructuring where he/she/it is let go due to compatibility, performance and ethics issues. There are bronze and gold clubs (especially down in Georgia) that are in much better shape than this pathetic "platinum" club. It is a pathetic shame to Life Time. Place the fact that I'm a diamond member and I've been forced to accept this trashiness along with my $140/month membership. I seriously need an account credit! Dear corporate robot that replies to all reviews with the same "oh, I'm so sorry" sardonic violin bullsh--: Don't reply to this review because it's just so sad and stupid that you waste your time typing out such ridiculous nonsense that serves absolutely no useful purpose whatsoever. No reply or canned apology can possibly make up for the crap one can see during a 25 second walk through at this club. The best thing that could happen to this club is a critical support beam failure that would cause it to fold into itself and destroy all its crap equipment... Let me walk you through my story: I moved to Cary in sept for work, I was looking for gyms around the area, to work out, I zeroed on lifetime and O2 but later decided Lifetime offers better facilities and customer service and also from the persistence of the person who spoke to me at lifetime made me join it. On top of that, I had some corporate discount with my company which offered free joining (no processing fee), free health assessment and 200LT bucks and this is where all the nonsense starts. I don't understand the deal but the trainers and others at lifetime are crazy about these LT bucks and want me to spend it everywhere, nobody cares if I'm interested! The person who made me join asks me what my goals are, I said I need to lose weight and get fit, he sets me up with a trainer and the trainer asks the same things, takes my weight pulls out some sheet on workouts and asks me to join group workouts or personal trainer workouts. I don't like the sales pitch. I go back to the person who made me join and I say I don't like the trainer, he's just asking me to join some workout programs. He apologizes and he tells me, he'll send me to another trainer and he'll give a tour of the gym equipment and help me do a 30 min workout. This other trainer seems nice and he delivers whatever is promised but here we go again. After the workout he sits with me, again asks me the same things, goals, aim other things. Tells me he charges 120 or something dollars for a one-hour session or he can refer other good trainers for 30 min sessions and tells me I have my LT bucks and he can get me a good deal. He asks about my work schedules and sets up sometime like 2 days a week. Fills out paperwork and he asks me to sign and I said I'm interested but I'll think about it and I'll come tomorrow to sign it. He says ok. I get home and in the night I see a 600$ charge on my credit card. I got shocked and I call the trainer, he tells me, he thought we both were on the same page that's why he charged my card and my LT bucks were gone too. I say no I said I'll think about it. And he apologizes and tells me he can talk to his manager to refund the LT bucks but it'll take a long time and asks me why I wasn't interested in the training program now. I said I'm paying 99$ a month for the lifetime to use its facilities and I have to pay 250$ more on top of that which I can't afford. He tells me a deal where we can just work with my LT bucks instead of me paying a monthly fee. I say no to that, he tells me he'll refund my LT bucks. Meanwhile, I have to go back to the person who made me join to take my health assessment (I had to remind him, that I have that included, not the other way round). I had my test taken and hear this out, the person who took my test is another trainer, who tells me the same stuff, goals, strength building and asks me to join a boot camp( I don't know if this was included in the health assessment, he asked to do pushups and pull ups and took those numbers on a sheet and tells me I could improve that number if I took his boot camp, Mind you I haven't eaten anything from the previous night or drank any water, those are instructions I got, to get the proper test results) or he could train me in person and he was telling me how much he charges. I'm done with trainers at this point. I had to call twice to get my money refunded on my credit card and my LT bucks were refunded but only to 150LT bucks ( I had to ask for this too), I don't know how that's possible, they were deducted as 200, so they should be refunded as 200 right. I go to the person who made me join he tells me it's a technical glitch (are you kidding me man?) They can manually add those later if I'm interested in some program. So I have to come to you to add those bucks to join a program against sitting at my home and selecting what I want? What's the point of online interface? I need to have the freedom to choose how I use my bucks not have those bucks in your hand and come to you every time, to ask you something. I couldn't come to lifetime after that, I was afraid, I lost my confidence, the trainers and managers there intimidate me, every time I step in, I always have the thought who's coming next to sell me some workout plan. Lifetime has just become a marketing place to sell the best workout program. I come to lifetime to work out not to deal with my refunds or lifetime bucks and new plans, it's a gym for god's sake, not some investment firm or maybe I'm wrong but the one and half months I spent at lifetime has just been that. I lost my respect for lifetime. It took me three months to finally come to terms and quit it. I guess you don't have to worry, I lost my LT bucks in the process (another promise made was, I can use the LT bucks anytime, which is not the case I learned). Can you believe I'm paying $100 a month for a gym that doesn't have resistance bands?! They used to have them in the group fitness rooms and now they are gone. To start, I was a member at Lifetime in Cary for a few years. The primary reason being the kids' area, and this will be the one thing that I miss most, but I had to cancel my membership today (12/26/2016). While many of the amenities are very nice and lush it's unnecessary for me and due to rudeness and lack of knowledge on behalf of the front desk staff and a guest policy that transforms members into sales people and cancels out the purpose of a guest policy I had to cancel. It's the day after Christmas and like many people I have guests. Instead of leaving my guest on the couch while I worked out I decided to bring him along BUT the guest policy only allows a specific guest to come once every 60 days (we used a guest pass a while back despite him being a member at another lifetime (this policy also used to be different)). The front desk ladies (while taking over each other and sounding unsure) explained that they are to be used to show around a non member once to encourage them to join... I don't work for Lifetime, and I don't have 12 people per year to recruit for the business. I just wanted to work off some holiday food with a friend using the guest passes that are a part of the gym membership I pay for. The guest policy wasn't always this way and it's not this way at other gyms so today I had to let my membership go. Traffic seems to be down at this location and they're going about increasing revenues the wrong way. read more

Amazing facilities, however we were surprised to find out today that there is apparently a $10 fee per day for guests under 12. We have been going as a family for quite a while and NEVER heard of this policy. We were informed that they "had been lax in enforcing the policy" - if we had been told of the policy in the first place we would not have bothered with memberships. I'm sure there are plenty of wealthy idiots who will continue to pay whatever Lifetime decides to charge for memberships, but I can safely say we are not a part of that demographic. read more

Lifetime Fitness at first we loved the gym. Beautiful, lots of equipment. I think for spending approx. $180 for 2 adults and a college age child, they ought to be a doing a much better job of keeping it clean. The outdoor pool left something to be desired. One day they had to evacuate the pool due to human waste in the pool. Which no one even noticed but called to the attention of the life guards when the adults went to go into the pool. After swimming in the outdoor pool I could not believe after handwashing my bathing suits after swimming how dirty my bath suit was. I believe they may need to think about putting a set of restrooms outside near the pool area. I belonged to another outdoor pool and the restrooms and changing facility were located close to the pool for obvious reasons. My boyfriend said a man in the men's locker rooms urinated on a stack of towels. Who would ever do that? Disgusting. read more

My boyfriend and I joined Lifetime a few months ago, and so far we love it. We got off to a rocky start when we joined - for some reason, our intro to the club and membership signup took more than 2 hours. We complained, and the staff was quick to remedy the situation. We really love the abundance of equipment, the spacious workout areas, and the great selection of classes. The only thing that really bothers me is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. It's strange, because the locker rooms are absolutely pristine. But the bathrooms are terrible! They consistently smell like urine, and they just feel gross. My boyfriend has said that the men's rooms are the same way, so I know it's not just me. Sometimes, I deliberately try to use the bathroom before I leave work so I don't have to use the one at Life Time. Other than that, no complaints. Instructors are super attentive, classes are really fun, and there are always staff members around to answer questions. I will say that they send way too many emails (we're talking multiple emails per day), but they cut back after I complained. read more

I signed up for a membership online and had to cancel less than two weeks later because my company purchased a corporate membership to the Y. When signing up online the website stated a money back guarantee within the first two weeks. I tried to cancel my membership online but it's not possible through the website. I stopped by the gym on my way to work to cancel it, but was told that no one was manning the help desk. I called to cancel it and was told I would need to come into the gym in person or send a certified check to cancel the membership. I'm not kidding. So I go back to the gym and ask to cancel it, keep in mind I hadn't actually used the gym once in the two week period. The guy I was talking to told me that the money back guarantee didn't apply because I had a membership at the gym three years ago (the website didn't mention that). In addition they charged me an additional months' membership fee. I asked if there was anything he could do about it and he said he didn't have the ability to make that decision- he'd have to talk to corporate. I told him to do what he thought was right... they still billed my card and I never heard anything from them. So I will say this- nice gym, good amenities, expensive services, and aggressive up selling on things like fitness assessments and gear. Terrible customer service when it comes to membership services or dispute resolution. I think it's pretty obvious they are more interested in making a buck than doing the right thing. read more

One month of full membership here and I am fully satisfied still. When you first inquire about a membership at the gym, you get the "let's take you on a tour" line. You walk in and you're greeted with a cafe on your left and a salon/massage parlor on your right. Above you are the troves of machinery waiting for you to sweat it out for an hour. The facility is CLEAN. I tend to be a very clean person and the gym for the most part (I came during the peak hours) was clean for the amount of traffic. The membership specialists remind me of car salesman. And they act like it when they finally get your money at the end of the deal. That's fine with me. As long as they treat the customers with respect, I could really care less on how they close the deal. They give you a nice, long tour of the facility and ask what you are looking for in a gym. They have a lot of things I don't need, like daycare and group fitness, but I know a good handful of people that want those things. Blah, blah, blah. Let's talk money now. Single memberships are $73 and a couple are $123 if you own/rent a home together. Quite a bit of money, to be honest. The facility, overall, is worth the price. Locker rooms are clean and spotless every time I am in there. They do routine, hourly checks and make sure all the supplies are filled and the overall look is clean. I was thoroughly impressed. There a lot of people during the peak hours who are drained in sweat and the locker rooms or facility doesn't smell like it. Speaking of the peak hours the parking lot will look like a fire-sale during Black Friday. But, don't worry, there are plenty of machines and you hardly notice the people in the gym. My friends have called this gym "snobby." I could agree with that, but, all gyms are depending on who you are. You come here to work out. You get that done here and they have plenty of space for you to accomplish that goal. There are red-eyed muscle meat-heads (really) to the soccer mom looking for that quick break. I just do my own thing and feel great afterwards. It truly is the best gym in the area. They have plenty to offer and I suggest you take a look on their website and do go for a tour. Great workout club - DEFINITELY do not go for the yoga. We have now been a member of 4 different Lifetime Fitness clubs and have enjoyed every single one. I mean, what's not to love? Beautiful, upscale gym with every amenity you could want (massive gym, every type of cardio, stretching areas, indoor and outdoor pools, racquetball, basketball, climbing walls, daycare for children, spa.... The cafe serves fresh and healthy food and smoothies. I'm addicted and can see myself being a member for life. Amazing gym with one BIG exception. The only drawback is the yoga. Seriously... don't go for the yoga or you will set yourself up for repetitive strain injuries in the future. The following feedback is about the yoga, with the EXCEPTION of the Ashtanga class - that was much better. We moved here 2 months ago and I was hoping that I could save money on not having both a gym and yoga studio membership. No such luck. The yoga just doesn't stand near the quality of a good yoga studio. As a yoga instructor myself (both Kundalini and Ashtanga), I feel very qualified to provide this feedback (or should I say, pet peeves): 1. No assists. Every instructor should provide continual assists throughout the class. It is their job. If they see a student struggling in a pose, or not correctly in a pose, part of the job is to help correct the postural alignment. This not only helps prevent injury, but "teaches" the student how to do the pose properly. Most of the students around me needed assists (although most had no idea as they assumed they were doing poses correctly - no guidance or demos to help). 2. No structured flows in hot yoga classes. In the hot yoga flows, the students are guided through a flow sequence and then expected to repeat it several times themselves. Sometimes it's just too complex a sequence, or doesn't quite "flow" right so it's hard to remember - heaven help beginners. The sequences are not "smart" sequences, meaning that from the beginning to the end of a yoga class, flows should be designed to progressively open your hips and your body, and heart openers balanced with forward folds. No such understanding in these classes. 3. My biggest peeve? So many, in fact most, of the students were not doing the poses correctly. Did the instructor notice, and do a demonstration to show them how to do it correctly? No. For example, warrior 2 is shoulders over hips, front knee over the ankle, back foot flat at right angles to the front foot, gaze is forward over your hand. Hmm... I think I can count on 1 hand the number of people close to the correct postural alignment. Triangle pose? Everyone was leaning forward in an effort to touch that ground. This is NOT correct and will set you up for injury (imagine your body between two panes of glasses when you do a side bend - the moment you fall forward, you are out of the pose - 100% of the class was out of the pose). My yoga practice was connected to a chiropractic office where I used to live and the chiropractor was honest in saying that many of her clients are yoga practitioners with repetitive strain injuries and from doing poses, especially chaturangas incorrectly over time, creating back issues. Speaking of chaturangas (this is where you flow from high plank, to low plank, into upward facing dog, then into downward facing dog). Not one single person could do a chaturanga correctly (I assume because they had never been shown how). When you lower down from high plank to low plank, your elbows should be against your sides while you lower your upper body to the point that your elbows are at RIGHT ANGLE (never lower, or you will weaken your elbow joint). Then, you transition into upward facing dog. Everyone had their elbows flailed out, or were collapsing to the floor (you do not collapse to the floor - there is a space between the upper body and the floor - you don't "crash" down). I could go on but I won't. Suffice it to say I constantly felt like I should stop and say "hey! listen up! let's take some time and go over the correct anatomy of a chaturanga." I have no idea where these instructors get their training but did notice that the club itself offers yoga teacher training. Hmm. In closing: If you are looking for a good, solid foundation in a yoga practice where you can learn to do each pose correctly and with correct postural alignment, this is definitely not the place for you. But if you want a fantastic gym with all the amenities you could want and more, then this Lifetime Fitness is an absolute must. I honestly don't feel that any other gym comes close. read more

Truth be told, I was only at Lifetime Fitness for about 30 minutes or so on a visit but I figured it was long enough for a review. I stopped by based on the recommendation of a co-worker but knew as soon as I got into the parking lot, "this place ain't for me!" The place is HUGE, biggest health club I've seen and I've joined a bunch of them. It looked like a small mall from the outside. Enter the place and you're in a huge multi-level foyer with the member desk in the middle. You've got a fitness apparel store, you've got a coffee/espresso shop and plenty of LCD panels around. I waited 15 minutes and got shown around by a young kid. They've got an amazing amount of floor space and equipment. You can go spin with a video of Lance Armstrong, the aerobics/exercise room was palatial and clean, the weights and cardio area stretched out forever with rows and rows of equipment. You get the picture! So why am I only giving the place 3 stars? For a couple of reasons. First the place is not really a gym or health club, it's a super multi-fitness-plex activity club. Something that I've never seen before and don't have a name for. You can rock-climb, you can do laps in the olympic pool, you can do a ton of things. But in all honesty, the people that I did see there weren't doing much. People seemed to be lingering in the coffee shop, chatting each other up, bringing their families in with inflatable toys, everything but actually working out and sweating. And that's why I can't call it a gym or health club. Second, the fees were ridiculously high, but what can you expect with a facility that size? While they don't require a year commitment, the start-up fee was about $250 with a monthly fee of over $70/month. Do the math and you're talking over $1000 for the first year alone. And that price was for the basic membership: no pool, no rock-climbing, baby! But somebody's got to pay for all that equipment. In the end you're either going to be blown away by Lifetime Fitness or you're going to be nauseated. Count me in the latter group, I would never join a health club like Lifetime Fitness. Ginormous was the first word that come into mind when seeing it, excessive and wasteful were my other thoughts. But if if floats your boat, more power to ya! ---- I will stand by the prices I heard and have posted here. My visit to Lifetime was in August of 2007 and I'm guessing they've dropped them since. As someone who has been a member of MANY gyms, they typically slide you over a sheet of paper with some numbers. They will try to get whatever they can out of you, most clubs rarely have set/public pricing. And in the end, Andy's quoted prices are still about $1,000/year which is not far off from what I heard. read more

They called me over a MONTH after I told them to stop emailing and calling. The sales tactics are way too aggressive, and I went with Pure Body instead. The people there gave me my trial without bothering me, then let me decide what to do. Whatever you do, do NOT sign up to get the free trial pass. This place is pretty good. They have lots of stuff, but a lot of their machines are just variations on a theme and they aren't really designed or women, let alone short women. I wish they had a better setup for more exercises with free weights. That whole area is taken up by trainers. I worked out at Equinox for three years before moving here and if they were a 100% lifetime is maybe 85%. I've been watching the trainers and they are so-so. Some of them spend their time on the phone while the client is trying to work out, I would not find that acceptable if it was me. The teachers are great though, that does need to be said. The instructors for the classes do a great job. I know they are trying to heard about a million people in and out of here, but the place is so impersonal. The people are not very friendly, but at least they are efficient and the place is pretty clean. Also, there are kids everywhere you go, what time do you have to get up to not look at them? The locker rooms are nice, but unlike equinox they do not provide anything but towels and some generic soap. The place is fine, but they have to get those kids under control, it's like trying to workout at a daycare center. Not to mention the fact that these are not the most well behaved children I have ever met. I wish the triangle had an equinox....but this will have to do. read more

Beautiful facility. Has everything you need and is very clean. Everything you get with this gym is worth the high price tag. However, I signed up online. Added my toddler to the membership since having childcare during my workout is important. They neglected to tell me they only have certain hours available for childcare. 8:30am12:30pm or 4:30pm-830pm. I prefer to work out around noon till like 2 but they have no care during those times. That's a bit frustrating. Also when calling to schedule an apt for personal training I left a message and two days when by and no one called me back. I had to call again. I also called on a Monday when the spa was closed to get pricing for services. They are not listed online or on the app upon booking and the front desk couldn't tell me how much they were. That seems very strange and I think that's info they should know. My first visit was anything but pleasant. The front desk practically screamed at me saying they needed a signature and my picture but sent me over to another desk where there was no employees at. I had to wait for someone to get there. They had me sign more paperwork and remove my mask for the picture. After my toddler and I walked away I was trying to control him after waiting so long. The man yelled really loud can you put your mask back on!!!!! It was pretty uncomfortable and extremely rude. I wasn't even given a chance. Customer service really should be perfect at the 100+$ price tag we pay! read more

Since moving to NC almost 6 years ago, my husband and I have been members of three different gyms in the area. Lifetime is by far head and shoulders above the rest. Yes, the monthly dues are more expensive than you will find at most (if not all) of the other gyms in the Triangle, but the amenities offered make it worthwhile. It may look a bit intimidating from the outside just because of the shear size of this place. The inside is also expansive and upscale (granite counter tops, flat screen TVs, state of the art equipment, etc). I am a big fan of the huge cardio area. Although the gym does get busy at certain times of the day, you won't ever have to wait to jump on a piece of cardio equipment. If you're a machine person, all of the weight lifting machines are grouped together based on muscle group and there are plenty of dumbbells, benches, Squat racks, etc. If you're a class person, there are plenty to choose from, from Spinning to Kickboxing and Yoga to Zumba. If you have kids, pay an extra $5 a month for a GREAT nursery, which has an infant area, computers and toys. Check out the indoor pool, which is also great for the kids (slides!) during the cooler months and then head to the outdoor pool to lounge during the summer. Lifetime also boasts a Cafe that offers everything from breakfast to sandwiches to smoothies and after workout protein drinks. This is a great gym whether you're single, coupled up or want to bring the whole family. read more

I never, ever, ever thought Husband and I would be one of "those gym types" but here we are. Lifetime Fitness is a very clean, very large, highly motivating facility/environment with an excellent layout and a wide variety of classes, equipment and machines. There is a very friendly vibe there, with very little exception, and the staff are extremely helpful. The positive comments others have made about the gym, classes, locker rooms, wet areas, lap pools, cafe and full service day spa are dead on accurate in my opinion. Two shout outs: Leslie F., the personal trainer: Extremely motivating with a kind but reinforcing demeanor. No fooling around here, but not in a scary sort of way at all. She wants to help - if you want help - with PT and understanding fitness. Her customized assessment and fitness plans make sense to even me and I am CLUELESS about abs and quads and bosu and pilates and crunches and squats and those scary-ass machines and why I even want to do any of that. Or I WAS clueless. I just know I don't want to look like Madonna, but then that would take an act of God. I would see Leslie every day of the week if I could, but then I would be broke and wouldn't be able to go to... Kate, the massage therapist: Very intuitive therapist, with a knack for symmetry and balance in a deep tissue massage. The spa itself is very relaxing and then Kate's talent for bodywork makes the experience completely worth the visit. Kate is in my top ten for all massage therapists (I do mostly deep tissue) and I have been to oodles and oodles of massage therapists in my travels. Extreme kudos to Kate, who understands TMJ massage and that silence can be golden for some of us during massage, which is a great thing. Made a stop by Lifetime fitness to see what the hype was all about. With a free pass for the day I was able to take my time and explore this fitness facility but let's be real it's so much more than a fitness facility. The "gym" is unlike any other I have ever been too. They have everything you need in one place it's like a giant resort in suburbia. Who would know that hwy 64 is just right outside. Once you step in to this monstrous facility you feel like you can just get away. The big plus for a gym like this is the amenities: cafe, salon, large yoga studio, rock climbing wall, cycle studio, 2 pools (indoor/outdoor), sauna, steam room, hot tubs, cardio machines, weights, and well I'm sure I'm missing something with all of that I already listed. I'm curious to see the crowd during prime times but during the day there was plenty of space to do whatever you want. The ladies locker rooms were immaculate with towels, tons of hair drying stations, a lot of showers and plenty of lockers that you can use, just ask for a key at the front desk. Would I pay extra for all this luxury? Absolutely with the cost of boutique gyms, and yoga studios these days I think Lifetime is reasonably priced however none of their locations are convenient enough for me at this time. If you are lucky enough to live near a Lifetime fitness then I would highly recommend checking one out. If you have a family this place is so worth it, kids of any ages can be entertained for hours, plus they have childcare. It's definitely a place I would like to revisit if they open more locations in Raleigh or I move sometime in the future closet to them. read more

EDIT: A weekend in late March, I had some family in from Indiana so I thought it would be great to take them to the gym and enjoy the facilities. When I got there at 3pm on Sunday, I was told it would cost $25 per adult for them to use the gym. That is a bit excessive!! I am a little upset by this. I think as a paying member, we should get a certain amount of guest passes to use in a year, especially out of town guests. I understand some people might be abusing whatever policy was in place as I was informed this was a new policy, but i think Lifetime can come up with a better policy then $25 per adult to use the gym. Also, I did not see anything on the website about this as I did check before making the drive to see if they allowed guests. All in all, I was not happy to learn about this policy. I have been a member of Lifetime since I moved to the area in May 2011. I am so glad I am a member. I come here everyday in the morning hours to get my workout in. The place is large and has an abundance of exercise machines. I have never had to wait for the stairmaster, elliptical or treadmills. However in the morning, the weight machines can be very busy. They also have a nice selection of classes. I have only been to the Zumba class on Tuesdays at 7:30 and I am hooked! I love it. During the summer months, my husband and I like to enjoy the outdoor pool, but as you can imagine, it gets pretty busy on a hot Saturday afternoon and chairs can be hard to find! Sometimes, I like to mixed up my workout and enjoy the indoor pool to swim some laps. They also have some hot tubs, sauna, and nice locker room facilities. They also have a cafe and a salon/spa. When I signed up, I got a coupon for a half price massage which I totally used. I booked a massage with Jeremy and it was amazing. He found all my knots and worked on getting them all out. Needless to say, it hurt but the next day I felt wonderful. I need to schedule another massage with Jeremy! I also got a couple free training sessions when I signed up that I used with Lindsey. She is a great trainer and really spent time with me going over my goals and what I hope to accomplish. My sessions with her were great and she really worked me hard. The Cafe is nice and they offer daily specials. I haven't tired any food but I do get the protein shakes every once in a while. This place is a great place to get your workout in, have fun & exercise in the classes, and enjoy a Sunday afternoon at the pool! I don't regret my membership at all. If you are looking for a daycare, kid-centric club then this is the place for you. However, if you want to workout without children screaming, and parents allowing their kids to use machines or if you ever want to use the pool, choose somewhere else. I complained about the problems with kids using machines and not wiping down the equipment and got nothing but attitude, I called the corporate number to address my concerns and was told they were family friendly, so I guess that means I am supposed to catch the flu! I am a mom and this place is overwhelming to me. I ha e found that the concern in the club is number one about kids. I joined a gym not a country club, not what I am looking for in a workout. The one standout is the spin classes. The Monday night instructor is awesome. I am now dropping my membership, which despite what they say is not a notice and quit, it is written notice and then 30 days. When I called corporate office and was explaining what I was told and how I was treated she was just as rude. You would think that paying $127 a month for myself and my husband they could afford some manners! read more

I have good experiences here. It is pricey, but they offer a lot and are open 24 hrs. I have yet to use it in the wee hours of the morning but I work nights so t appealing to me to be able to workout after my shift. I used to belong to the Y and I really like workout classes opposed to workouts on my own. At the Y, I could only get yoga twice a week because of my schedule versus their schedule. At lifetime I can do yoga every day because there's always a class at a time frame that works for me. So I really like that. They could use some refreshing in some areas. The bathroom stalls are all metal and starting to rust. Hopefully, when they do a replacement, they won't use that metal again. You can tell it's just from humidity and there's not much to do about that except use different material. This is just one example but I'm not here to pick them apart. My kids are in swim lessons and they have a pretty flexible make up policy. And that has been very helpful to me. The staff is always friendly and helpful to me. Like I said above, I've had good experiences here and I do recommend it. read more

First- why 4 stars? Classes are kind of lacking IMO on Friday which makes it hard for me to stay motivated towards the end of the week. Also- you may have to constantly ask how much something is because half the time someone is trying to smoothly sell you some type of test or evaluation- which is no problem for me because I ask a gazillion questions but for someone like my mom or brother I could see this quickly becoming an issue. So my advice to the fitness team would be to be more upfront about cost before explaining something. Now that I've finished the tough love portion... Here's what really shines: No one is a jerk. In fact there are dozens and dozens of genuinely nice people wandering through this gym at any given time. Me- being a sensitive type- really really thrives in this type of environment. Payment is month to month which is great because I'm also a commitment-phobe. Classes are fun- I pretty much only do the dancey ones ie Zumba, Belly Dancing, Latin Heat etc. I'd recommend going when there is a zero enrollment promotion because then your initial out of pocket besides the first months fee is really minimal. I found Kristian to be really honest and open about cost and answered my bazillion questions effectively- so I signed up even before touring the facility- I guess I'm a tad odd in that aspect haha. This gym has a cafe where I normally grab a protein smoothie before class around dinner time. The classes are at the PERFECT time for me Tuesday - Thursday because I work until 6/6:30pm. Overall 4.5 stars but since Yelp doesn't have that option- 4 it is. OH- PS- this is a gold level gym and so far the rest around NC are bronze so I can alternate between going to one near work (Cary location) or the one near home on weekends (Plantation Point location). PLUS a new gold or platinum location is being built on Falls of Neuse next year! read more

One of the reasons I like living where I live is because of the proximity to Lifetime Fitness. The decor is luxurious but people are there to get fit and have fun. There are tons of cardio choices, weights and group fitness classes. Add to that a rock climbing wall, gym, racquetball, child care, a spa, indoor/outdoor pool and a water slide! Fun for the whole family! The membership is reasonable for all that's offered and the staff is educated and helpful. read more

I am one of those people who needs a teensy bit of incentive sometimes to sway me in the right (another hour of snooze/happy hour vs. workout) direction. Lifetime houses every conceivable fitness gadget, craze and class within four walls. They have whatever it is that is your thing. I am willing to pay a little extra to be able to coerce myself into the car by whispering to myself words like, steam room... sauna..jacuzzi.. spa... good coffee..rock climbing wall (yeah right.). For those with tykes, a full, free daycare while you work out. Incredible kids programs. Magnificent are: 1. Spin Room 2. Gabriella's Zumba class 3. Steam Room 4. Late-night olympic size pool all to myself with adjacent blistering hot sauna. 5. Total Conditioning Class 5. Everything is great here. I just wish they had better towels and the fee is lower. Since I don't utilize the classes that they offer I don't get why I need to pay that much money. Even if it was just ten dollars cheaper I would tell everyone about this place, but in all honesty, I just sound stupid telling people to be paying $74/month for a gym membership. Kind of ridiculous. The reason why I am still a member in this place is its accessibility. I am able to go when its 11pm. I usually like to go to the gym around 10pm and during that time it usually starts slowing down. Six months from now I am going to cancel my membership and join the other 24hr gym around the area. At the moment this will have to do. read more

Subpar customer experience throughout the time period that I held a membership at the Lifetime facility in Cary which by the way is not inexpensive. I witnessed discriminatory practices in the way that members are handled. There was little to no solution orie customer service and I will not pay for this type of experience. My five foot six, 162 lb, 12 year old son who is on my membership was denied access to the facilIty as Lifetime had an error in the system and refused to correct the error once I made them aware and instead requested that I provide state certified records when that's not a requirement when joining the club and I have never been made aware of this being a requirement of any other member of the club. I have been a member here since August of 2007 and love it!! I am a morning person... or at least I try to be.... and having the gym open 24hrs allows me to get in there at 4 or 5am before work. Most other gyms don't open until 6 or 6:30. I also love the variety of classes offered, the cafe and salon that are located within the club, and the cleanliness!! There are free towels, a steam room and sauna in each locker room, and a co-ed one in the indoor pool area (there is a whirlpool in the indoor and outdoor pool areas too!). The facilities are well maitnained, the staff is friendly, and there is NEVER a wait for a piece of equipment and no time limit on use of equipment. They also have plenty of TVs with everything from cable news channels and local channels to the NFL network..... this can come in handy for Thursday night games in the fall that the cable company doesn't carry.... you know a 3hr walk on the treadmill could be somewhat entertaining..... ;) Lifetime is also great for kids. It has child and infant care separated. A family locker room is available for any family, but especially great for parents with opposite sex children.... just think, no little boys in the women's locker room.... brilliant idea! So Lifetime is great, it is too bad it is the only one in the area! They have an Open House almost every weekend if anyone wants to take a look around! read more
