Overall it's a good gym. Has a lot of machines and free weights. Dumb bells go up to 110 lbs. lots and lots of cardio machines. Facility is very clean and organized. We enjoy taking advantage of the free yoga classes! There are lots of free classes to join actually! In the summer we love going to the outdoor pool, and in the spring, fall, and winter we take advantage of the indoor pool; I love the jacuzzi! Locker rooms have a nice sized steam room and sauna which is great after a work out! Locker rooms also provide toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream and razors, and even moisturizer and deodorant! The best part is that lifetime offers free childcare for up to two hours a day, up to 8:00 pm!!!! We drop my girlfriend's daughter off, go work out or take a class, and then pick her up and hit the pool (if she has been a good girl!). Most of the time we even grab a good tasting dinner here from the cafe! Although the food tastes good, this may be the one area which is not 5 star. The service is EXTREMELY slow. If the cafe service was better, I would consider giving this gym a 5 star rating. My only other complaint is that every night between 5:30-7:30, it is very packed inside the gym, and hard to follow a routine. read more

I love this gym. They have every amenity you would want in a gym, and as far as comparable gyms in NJ, I'm comfortable saying this is the best. The actual gym is so large and has so many machines that even when it is crowded, I don't have to wait long (or at all) for the machine I want. The food options are really tasty. The bathrooms and locker room are always clean and well maintained. The pool / jacuzzi area is also well maintained. Overall this is just a really nice gym. My husband and I have been members for years and we won't be leaving any time soon. If I had to complain about anything I guess it would be that membership is expensive. But considering all the amenities, I don't think one can expect to pay any less. read more

I'm not a member here but I did participate in an indoor Triathlon sponsored by Life Time Pulling into the compound (at least that's what it feels like) is pretty impressive. You can see what looks like an outdoor water park and large pool outside. Coming inside the place is massive and really *really* nice. As I was signing in and told which way to go, I got lost on my way to the locker room. And locker room is a pretty deceiving name for what's going on here. It's better than some spas I've been to. You could show up to the gym with nothing but the clothes on your back and have everything provided for you - towels, toiletries (razors, toothbrushes, combs, shampoo, conditioner, hair care products, etc) and lockers with combinations on them. Moving into the pool area again is massive. Our tri was in one of the lap pools that had 5 lanes, but on the other side were 2 other really large pools. 2 jacuzzi tubs that could easily fit my entire family are also there. I passed what appeared to be 2 full sized basketball courts. The cardio area has tons of machines, though the only thing I saw which was a bummer is each piece of equipment doesn't have it's own tv (haha, gotcha Life Time! Something that is actually not great!). I didn't get to see the entire area but it looked like its completely catered to it's clientele. It even has it's own cafe where you can get shakes, sandwiches, salads, etc. I can imagine that membership to this place would equal the GDP of some small African countries. And by the look of the cars in the parking lot, I'm pretty sure I'm right. So if you got the dough, both in your wallet and on your legs, this may be the spot for you. read more

Had a very poor customer service experience at this gym. I went for about two months, it was extremely crowded during the hours I needed to work out (mainly after 5 pm) and I couldn't get to any of the machines I wanted. I went to one of the sales offices on the first floor and told them I needed to cancel (I knew I wasn't going to get my money's worth). The woman asked me where else I planned to go and I was honest and said "probably going to try crossfit" and she told me "you'll be back here soon enough...enjoy getting injured". She was rude and I will never plan on going back. Please learn good customer service, so people actually have a good memory of you and might want to come back! read more

It is expensive and is not perfect. But, after belonging to quite a few gyms in the NJ area, I can say this is, by far, the best. The facility is super clean, they make your post workout shower easy by providing all of your toiletries and towels, the on premisies cafe is good (not great, but solid) and they are constantly having fitness events, camps and challenges to help you keep things interesting. The facility offers rock climbing, racketball, full size basketball courts. The facility has a pool offering table service from the cafe. I do not have children so the pool gets to be a little challenging during the summer months. It is filled with screaming children. For those with kids, the facility also offers camps and host birthday parties on site. The only things I do not like is that some of the trainers are rude and rush you off the equipment if they want to use it with a client. Also, the gym ropes off certain equipment during the day for sole use by members who are signed up for team fitness. It's always the most popular equipment and is kind of annoying. read more

I have been coming to lifetime since it first opened this location. While I am happy with the classes and machines offered, somethings are lacking for the high monthly membership they charge. When equipment is broken, it takes at least a month or more for it to get fixed. This makes it impossible for members to achieve their fitness goals when key parts of their workouts are absent. Also, the locker rooms are not kept up properly. While the locker room staff does their best to keep the showers appearing clean (not much hair in the drains) there is a constantly present smell in one end of the showers that smells like a broken sewage drain thats been open. There have also been nats in the sink area and showers, and this morning there were big disgusting mosquitos flying in the sink area and showers. Flys, nats and mosquitos are a clear sign of filth. The steam room has hair and just general dirty all over the walls, floor and benches whenever I go in it (at least once a week). It makes it an unpleasant place to shower and relax after your workout when it is suppose to be anything but for what they advertise the most prestigious gym in the area. They really need to step their game up or they are going to risk losing members. 7/12/18 UPDATE: NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED!!! We loved Life Time, but had to discontinue for the time being. Only three complaints: One: don't know why the waterfall within the hot tubs were taken out-they were wonderful!! Two: why do people insist on leaving their dirty towels on the locker room/shower floors??? When we first went there in 2008, never saw that. There are huge "Used towel bins" right in front of the locker rows you can't miss. Locker room attendants shouldn't have to pick up after supposedly adults who aren't 3 yrs old. Maybe if Lifetime discontinued that perk, there wouldn't be towels on the floors, or shower doors. Three: Too many don't shower, or wet themselves down before hitting the pool, or hot tub. just as they walk out dry from the locker/rest room, they walk right into the pools, or hot tub. then you wonder why the water's cloudy... Floram life spa has a hidden gem of a salon. I became a member there recently and did not pay attention or was skeptic about their other services especially with haircuts and colors. Boy , was I wrong . I gave it a try and never regretted this decision . Their spa service is excellent . I had been going there for haircut and color and get the best device . They pamper you and really listen to your needs. My hair is thick and frizzy and take hours to worked on so I always feel bad for my hair stylist but I never see Jennifer pout or complain or make faces . She is patient , gives me excellent hair color / cut and the most relaxing shampoo after . This place is worth the money $$$. Jennifer is amazing and excellent hair stylist . I commend all the staff that work there. You all rock ! It's truly a blessing to find a gym that has it all. My children also loves their summer program They never want to leave the place . I wish I was making this up but I have NEVER in my life dealt with such stupidity and error on SUCH a consistent basis. At first I thought, hmm must be a mistake that they charged me $53 at the lifetime cafe today while I'm sitting in an office 20 miles away. Mistake not, someone somehow used my info, which they assured me doesn't ever happen. YET it happened. So I'm thinking okay mistakes happen, charge is reversed, I'll let it go. Not even three weeks later do I check my bank statement and see not a $53 charge but a $596 charge. FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY SIX DOLLARS. Like I said, I wish I was making this up. I call and talk to one moron who has told me time and time again she doesn't know how to fix what happens and needs to ask her manager. Each time I asked her to have the manager call me and that has yet to happen. Swear to god you can fix a lot of things but you can't fix stupid so this gym is doomed for customer service. Marc Anthony was the only glimmer of hope here who was able to resolve the issues. I don't know how Brittany or Erica have jobs. I've gotten better responses from a rock than these two. Lifetime Fitness Florham Park is completely overpriced relative to the market, they have unfriendly staff, and no customer service. So how are they able to get $140 per month for a membership? The staff will treat you well for the 30 minutes you are considering joining, and then you become garbage to them as soon as you sign on the paper. Once I realized I had made a mistake they required a personal visit or a registered letter to cancel membership, and then they charge you for two months up front. Rather than listed to my reasons for canceling Eric Moore, who is in charge of all of their sales people, insulted me and told me they would send my account to collections if I tried to cancel. Gym is worn and the few decent pieces of equipment have long waits. There are many better options in and around Florham Park/Morristown. Be warned. read more

I gave it a one star to draw attention to a really ridiculous policy. If you cancel three days into your month, they won't credit you back for the un-used portion, which okay, maybe understandable. But, they then will charge you for TWO ADDITIONAL months after you cancel. Total BS. If you join, require that they strike that from the membership agreement. I had the same experience as James K these past couple of weeks in 2015. I was lied to by one their sales employees to entice me to join the gym. However, if you thought that was bad enough, their staff (member services manager, then another sales rep, then the manager of the sales team) handled the situation very poorly. The member services manager discouraged me from staying on as a member and cancelled my membership without my request. I asked to speak to a sales manager which never called. Then I find out of the cancellation. Another sales rep then shared more on the con situation of various new members, and took on exploring how they could meet me half way. She never called back. I reached out again and the sales manager said the same, but did not return my last call to close on the solution. Their solution to get rid of their con problem was to lay off the employee; AND penalize the customer and be outright obnoxious while doing it. I think head management would want to hear what is going on in Florham Park - anyone know how I can escalate this? read more

I was a member here for about 2 years. I thought that because it is big and nice, I'll join. Like another member, the stars in my eyes began to fade over time. Things get broken and they don't fix them. The towels are turning grey. The kids who "run" the show are really into talking to each other and not so much about helping others. Ok, now on to the really fun part... I had tried to put my membership on hold or quit several times. 1) Even though I was working AWAY FROM the area-over seas, I was supposed to COME IN and ask them to put my membership on hold or send them a certified letter. Well, if I am abroad, how can I send a certified letter or come in????? 2) Upon my return, I thought to myself, well, I'll suck it up, and continue to use the facility--this is when I started to notice the decrease in quality and increase in rudeness. 3) Then I moved out of state. And the same issue applied...certified letter ONLY to quit. WELL, I have to be honest, it was not a priority, as ...wait for it...i was starting a new job and had moved an entire house, etc. Although I did CALL them AND SENT emails (neither good enough), my job left me little time to take off to GO TO THE POST OFFICE so I could send them a CERTIFIED LETTER.... Needless to say, I have spent $100s BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET TO THE POST OFFICE...bc I have to be at the office.... OK...so, bottom line here.... I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER JOIN LIFETIME FITNESS EVER AGAIN. AND I WILL BE SURE TO LET AS MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS AS POSSIBLE. My family joined Lifetime when we moved to Plymouth, MN and I was 13 years old and we always had a great experience there. The workers were friendly, the gym was kept clean, and always up-to-date with latest equipment, classes, etc. Naturally, when I relocated to NJ and began looking for a gym to join, I looked up the nearest Lifetime location. I came to the Florham Park location and inquired about student options, as I am a full time college student at the moment. An employee referred me to the student membership option. Little did I know, this employee was going to either quit or be fired soon, so I was quietly misled about the terms of the student membership and provided with several perks (free alpha class pass, free lesson with a personal trainer), which I ended up taking, unsuspectingly (Yes, I signed a contract, where I should have read the fine print, but I did not suspect that this gym's employee representative would lie to my face like that about the terms of a membership. After all, I always had good experiences here, where everyone seemed relatively professional -Lesson definitely learned!). I came several times throughout the next twenty something days to take advantage of these perks and on my third visit, I was informed I was not able to come once a week under my membership (as I had been initially misinformed). I was quite humiliated, but that was the least of the problem. I was called by the general manager of the location, who politely apologized for the misinformation of their now, former employee. I said that was fine, but asked for a refund of my two month charges (mind you, I had only been a member for twenty something days at that point; not even a full month) and the 90-day challenge fee, which the trainer coerced me into participating in. I was told the refund for the challenge would be provided, but was given a pending 'no' for the two months of charges and was promised a follow up call the next day with the final verdict. Not only was the call not returned, but when I left several voice mails to this manager over the course of a week, my calls were never returned. I ended up calling again and requested to speak to another manager, who basically relayed information from the first manager handling this, back to me. I was told that a follow up call was, in fact, never promised and that my charges would for sure not be refunded. Besides the fact that I was charged these monthly fees under false membership terms, I was returned with terrible customer service and no consideration of reimbursement for a mistake (intentional or not) their former employee had made causing me to have to 'bite the bullet.' This experience definitely is leaving me with the opposite experience I initially had with Lifetime and I will second guess ever joining again when I graduate college and have the resources to join a gym on a full membership (at least this location for sure!). Lately the problem with this Gym is the STUFF they are rude and have an attitude problem! starting from the child care, I used to take my child here but since I saw how kids are treated I not longer used it, my daughter tells me how other kids push her and they say anything or pay any attention. In another occasion I was working out in one of the fitness class room when is completely empty and get question by the some weird lady who hangs out there If I'v lost something with the biggest attitude there is, I felt insulted. I'm just trying to do my work out routine and don't want to be bother. Obvious this people act as if they own this place, however they are only workers who should treat us with respect and with a smile that's their job. Anyways this is just an example of the many times I've experienced such a rudeness that's why i'm canceling my membership and buying a treadmill for home. read more

Overall a very nice gym. Relatively speaking, a clean gym with every amenity you could want. My one complaint and this really irks me is the lack of gym etiquette and how the facility has at least a dozen trainers walking around at any given time that could care less. People leave towels, water bottles, and weights on equipment. Members have very little consideration for other members, which is surprising. You would expect more conscientious people for the rate everyone is paying. There's one women that must not realize there's a locker room on the first floor because she loves to leave her three bags and towel beside the leg press machine. She'll leave it there for a solid hour while she does her workout on the other side of the gym. Did it occur to her that someone might be deterred from using the leg press because it's being inhabited by what looks like a small camp ground? Put your stuff in a freaking locker! Speaking of lockers, it's surprising how many people put their belongings in an unlocked locker. It's confusing bc your membership card serves as a locking device! Are these people free loading on the basketball courts? You'll also get a lot of horrible people doing curls in the squat rack or lunges off the bench press (on Monday aka national chest day!) Last but not least, you'll see plenty of college kids there on daddy's dime, "peacocking" around as if two months in the gym has transformed them into Mr Olympia. News flash: less shirt doesn't equal more muscle! Save the tiny tank top for when you hit puberty. These are the same people that are completely devoid of proper weight lifting technique. Lifetime recently upgraded the cardio equipment and many of the machines have individual TVs, which is a nice improvement. On the downside, the center itself has gotten extraordinarily crowded (which normally happens in the summer but it seems out of control this year) and, as a result, parking is very difficult (unless the weather's not good). I have dropped my membership, as a result, and will move onto another gym. I'll miss the 24/7 access and the large number of cardio machines....but not the crowds, etc. read more

Run like a big corporation, no personal service , very rude management. Its a shame it appears to be a nice gym, but a gym should be a personal experience run for the enjoyment of its members(you know the ones who pay fees by choice to join, and keep the lights on) and not one that clearly thinks it can abuse such members because they subscribe to the "bring em in by bulk" strategy. One of their main selling points is that you pay monthly and can freeze your membership at any point. Partially true. I froze my membership to try a cheaper gym since $120/month is honestly a bit steep. They froze it yet neglected to tell me that there is a monthly fee for the privilege of not using their gym. Three months later luckily my wife found out they were still charging me and i called up to inquire about this. I was told point blank by the manager Erica Dressler that there is no way my staff would not have told you. When i was adamant that this was not the case i was told that she was sorry i was mistaken but she would do me the "favor" of cancelling my membership (charges still stand of course) despite my mistake. I had called last week about this and was told by an employee that they would get back to me. 6 days later no call back. When i told this manager that my last interaction with her perfect staff resulted in this , and that maybe her staff was not as perfect as she had advertised, i was told that someone had a family issue and some things are bigger than your little money worries. I was then told by this manager that my membership was cancelled and that she had no interest in talking to me anymore, and was hung up on. Im not making light of the fact that people do have issues but cmon, dont preach the perfection of your staff and hang up on me.............utterly utterly unprofessional and unacceptable. Its a factory, no need to ever join, unless you truly dont have access to a town pool in the summer. The place is mayhem at prime time after work. They have about 1000 treadmills and very little room to house the cartloads of people ever wanting to use free weights or machines. Dont be fooled by the apparent size of it during off peak hours. It fills up and fills up fast between 5-9 pm as the spacing is terribly utilized. The locker rooms are constant , constant problems and are shut down or halved in size more often than not. I have since joined YB fitness on Morris Ave. in Short HIlls. Outstanding facility offering every workout service imaginable and the staff is phenomenal. Pricing is barely more than 50% of lifetime and my only problem is that they might actually ask me too frequently what they can add to make my workouts even more enjoyable. Its the old Cando remodeled, and with new management, and so far is absolutely outstanding. read more

Very dirty locker and shower facilities. If hair clogging up the drains and climbing up the walls is definition of clean, then go for it. Towels are so worn they have holes in them. Very gross. Never thought I would be an active member of a gym but after 15 months, I still enjoy going to LifeTime Fitness in Florham Park. Since I have the luxury of not working, I can go to the gym during non-peak hours, although I still find certain zumba classes and yoga classes very crowded. Instructors are super nice. I'm annoyed though that they seem to change yoga schedules and instructors as frequently as they do. Personal trainers don't seem to have long tenures. I suspect they are probably under a quota system where they have to sign up a certain number of lessons (I felt the pressure when I signed up for a few lessons with a personal trainer). Although personal training sessions can be expensive ($120/hr in 2012), it was helpful to learn the proper way to use many of the machines. Monthly membership dues are more expensive than the Y but the variety of classes, machines and ambiance of the place keeps me going back. read more
