Gym is nice but management is HORRIBLE. They don't care if they keep your business. They have a waiting list to join so they could care less if they make you happy. As a member I feel invaluable and totally replaceable. read more

Update to my last review. Although the facility is wonderful and the instructors are top notch, it is too dang crowded. There is NO WHERE TO PARK. Even off site, up the hill. No where to park. People getting in fights over spots in the lot. The classes that I like always have a huge waitlist. And yet they still give tours for more people to join. No good. read more

Banning ppa ticket holders at 4pm in the the afternoon facilities is ridiculous including the open bar. Some say you can and others try to stop you. Be consistent. read more

Stupidity and shortsighted at it's highest level. Went there today, along with over 1,000 members of the public to see the PPA Pickleball Tournament, after buying tickets. We needed to eat something other than just hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches premade at a booth. We were referred to the cafeteria for a real meal. We're were denied entry to the cafeteria because we were not members. Remember, this was a public event that we purchased entry to. Nowhere did it say on the tickets or website, that entry to the cafeteria is restricted to members only. This club had a perfect opportunity to present the club and all its benefits by allowing us to enter. Instead they made sure we would never consider joining, and we will be advising everyone and anyone we know not to join as well, since they are so short sighted with an elitist attitude. Don't hold public events if you are going to restrict the use of their cafeteria. read more

This place is a significant upgrade to the Laguna location. Better people, dual head showers (it's always hot when you want it hot), and amazing and SUPER friendly staff as well. Since I'm doing a comparison I should point out the down sides too. There are no water slides, no outside jacuzzi (valuable in the COVID era), no covered parking (keeps out the wierdos that way) and they close down earlier, around 7 or 8pm. After all these negatives I STILL highly recommend this location. The tennis seems to be amazing even though I don't play. And the overall vibe is just great. I can't get enough of this ambience. Extremely disappointed in Life Time San Clemente. I was a founding member and the news that the price of membership is increasing by a whopping $90 is absurd. Making my "discounted founding membership" $349 a month. (apparently this is $50 cheaper than the average membership) In the evenings, the club is mostly occupied by misbehaved high school students messing around on the gym equipment- burping, passing gas etc. It's extremely frustrating that no life time employee keeps this in check. I've witnessed members complain to staff about this issue and the employees don't seem to care. I stopped using the pool because 2 summers ago, the same guest had pooped in the pool on multiple different occasions. Accidents happen but if a guest poops in the pool more than once they shouldn't be allowed back. I understand this is a family facility but for the cost of membership there should be kid hours and adult only hours for the pool. Overall I thought the price of membership was steep to begin with, but given the $90 price increase (a total of $349 a month) read more

Overall, this is a bit of let down when considering two things: PRICE and CAPACITY. So the place is beautiful for sure, nicely design and feels very high-quality. The issues are the weight room is small and limited. Everything is very cramped and there is not enough equipment for the number of people who are here during the most practical hours (morning, after work and evening). The number of treadmills, elliptical, bikes, bench presses, and other common machines is very limited - be ready to wait or to fight to the equipment you want to use. The cafe, also very nicely done is small - about the size of a normal Chipotle, so there's not a ton of room for seating and it feel crowded except during the off-hours (9:30am-11:30am and 1:30pm - 4:00pm). The times you're likely going to be at the gym (before and after work) this place is way too crowded. The lounge pool is a really nice design, but very shallow (1-3 feet) in 90% of the pool, so it's really intended for smaller children. The lap pool only has 5 lanes, so again, you'll be fighting for the opportunity to get your workout in. Parking during those hours you'll actually go to the gym is also a nightmare - the lot simply isn't big enough to accommodate the size of the crowd and we've seen people parking on the street above the gym parking lot. If this gym only costs $50 per person, that would be a fair trade, but my wife and I were quoted $330 per month for the two of us and had a hard time reconciling that cost against the issues of having to fight the crowds. One considerable design flaw: why put the most slipper tile in the world in the locker rooms where you know know it will be wet? This is just careless. read more

Rob's hot yoga is amazing! The facilities are beautiful but they should be considering what you will pay. They reuse yoga mats in the hot yoga classes and they are dripping wet with sweat....ick. I got a toenail fungus (!) definitely need to change that up and disinfect floors after each hot yoga class, the lockers rooms are constantly being cleaned though so it's a yoga room specific complaint. I know it's the go-to place for my pickleball fanatic friends :) read more

Had high hopes for this place based on the hype and anticipation for opening however I find the actual overall experience incredible underwhelming and overpriced. The pros: * facility felt very clean * staff was kind And enthusiastic * outdoor spaces looked nice for good weather days The cons: * SMALL - I felt very claustrophobic the entire time so much so that I ended my work out early to leave entirely. I went on a Sunday mid morning and it was HOPING - with just about every piece of equipment being used.... wonderful for the gym itself, not an enjoyable experience for someone like me who isn't the mood to fight for a tiny spot in a place I pay that much for. Overall - the layout feels badly planned and over populated. People just grab a mat and plop anywhere for stretching and free weights .... including right behind my treadmill. * SMELL - I am not one who is super sensitive to smell but I found the whole place smelled like an old folks home - perhaps it's their cleaning solutions - either way - I found myself breathing thru my mouth the whole time. * LOUNGE - this was actually the biggest selling point to me pre-opening as I work from home and I enjoy going to places to work from time to time to get some fresh atmosphere while being able to grab a workout, lunch, and maybe have a quick meeting with a colleague in between. Bottom line - I would never spend more than a workout here. The idea and sell was much nicer than the actual environment. It felt like a grab and go food stop with uncomfortable chairs - Someone said chipotle vibe and I completely agree. Again, here I was expecting some sort of luxury given the price. Id say save ur money, this isn't an appealing "extra" once you are in it. I couldn't wait to leave. In conclusion, I will be canceling my membership asap. While the team I met were wonderful, I don't feel the product of this place delivers - it's more a fitness hunger games vs a high end fitness experience. For context, I have lived all over and held many memberships to complexes similar to this that MORE than delivered and charged the same price so there is no excuse here in my opinion for proper space and patron planning. This is the best gym in the Laguna Beach/ Dana Point / San Clemente! Its also a tennis club with lighted tennis and pickle ball courts, a lap pool outdoors and outdoor space to lift weights. Campus is beautiful- well manicured, consistently clean and upscale. Inside the gym- plenty of space for functional and traditional workouts. Lots of machines. Classes- top notch. Looking for Rob, Eric, Amber, Ally for yoga. The front desk is always welcoming in a just right kind of way. The cafe - fresh food options and the bar is a fun place to socialize. 1 star based on price increases and customer service which appears to be a recurring theme. To increase the price $20 a month with no warning is not very customer friendly. No effort was made to work on the rate with me and then I woke up and realized i should take my $400 plus a month family plan and join a new gym with better easier parking. Now that I've had some time to shop around, I can't believe I was ever spending that much money. If you're going to play a lot of tennis and take a lot of classes maybe it's worth it, but this club was not for me anymore. I'm just appalled at the lack of effort by the staff to preserve an over three year customer. Good luck to them but there are so many other options. read more

When you get ready to workout and want a good workout this place offers you about a 70% that will happen. There are days where you need to win the parking lottery to find a space. They clearly value their tennis league visitors more than their members. The gym also has a program where if you miss workouts they ban you from participation. Good idea until you realize that you will get marked absent for classes you attended. In December they are allowing members to bring unlimited guests - what could possibly go wrong for parking? read more

I am reviewing this as a GYM as opposed to a tennis club. Actual gym portion is a little limited in equipment when considering the monthly fees: only one rack inside and one rack outside, and the outside usually only has one 20kg bar and one 15kg bar (as opposed to multiple or extra 20kg bars) and not much redundancy in terms of weight machines in the workout area. So if someone uses the one seated row machine or one lat pull down machine you're SOL until they're finished. Additionally, the bodyweight area is very small, and the number of pull up bars available is frustratingly low (I think 3 or 4 throughout the entire workout area, and all are attached to other workout equipment) Despite the relatively small "gym" portion, I find I rarely wait to use most equipment even during what peak hours (4pm-8pm on weekdays). Any negative feelings about the amount of equipment are far outweighed by my appreciation for the high quality of the equipment and my enjoyment of the outdoor area. This outdoor workout area is the most scenic, gorgeous thing i've seen at any gym across the country. Every person i've brought to this gym has been nothing short of awestruck by this outdoor area. Amenities such as sauna, steam room, and showers are the most gorgeous i've seen of any gym and are cleaned frequently. The Cafe is more than adequate, and the shakes are refreshing after a long workout. The recreational pool area is small compared to other lifetime locations i've been to, but the 6 lanes available for lap swimming are more than enough for those interested given what i've seen. In spite of some concerns about workout area size and equipment, this gym is as good as it gets. Myself and each person i've brought to this gym agree it beats any equinox, and any other lifetime, not even close. 5/5 every other gym pales in comparison. read more

I joined this gym because it was near my house it seemed like it would be very nice and it is nice but it's way overpriced for what you get. Hundreds of dollars just to walk through the doors and you don't even get to use the pool unless you pay more. Staff is terrible at communicating to members and instructing them on what to do with their account. Make sure if you want to make any changes on your account that you make whoever you are talking to send you an email confirmation before you get off the phone with them. Learned that the very expensive and hard way. Had to cancel my membership. Don't go here it's a complete rip off. read more

My wife and I absolutely love this place. We look forward to our after-work workouts 3-4 times a week. Overall, an excellent experience. The only critiques/suggestions I have are: 1. The food is borderline inedible. From the burger to the bowls, it is just simply bad. And it takes forever! This is a shame because the Laguna Niguel LT, which has very similar food, is much better. 2. Sam, who runs the door, needs to be promoted, ideally to manager. The new class times have made parking impossible. You cant even drive in the lot. The classes now end as your class begins so you have to wait for people to exit the gym when your class has already started, making you 10min late to classes. That means I miss stretches which increases injury, ive missed cardio portions so now im getting a 60% workout instead of a full workout. Why pay this much to literally dog fight for parking and get a half a*s workout? No changes in sight. No word from management as to why we should keep paying. Oh and the gym is the smallest fishbowl ever to workout in. read more

I had high hopes for this place. Signed the entire family up two weeks before Covid. Spent a ton doing it. Thankfully they opened the outside up. What was weird is I noticed them cleaning the equipment up 45 minutes prior to closing. 5-6 people would come with bins all at once and make the members feel like the gym had just closed. That evening I let the front desk know on my way out. The next day there were 10-15 of us around the same time. Same thing happened. I told the employees I had spoke with the front desk the night before and they wouldn't be doing that again. Two of the employees were extremely rude and one even said " ok tough guy". Understandably frustrated, I went to the front desk and let them know myself and the members were extremely frustrated and asked if they could tell them to stop cleaning up. THEY JUST IGNORED ME! I finished what I could and went back to the front desk at close. I was extremely upset. I pay $200 a month for myself and then $300 more for my family and you treat me like this. Several of the other members were frustrated as well. I was told I was be to aggressive and to calm down. I then received a call from the manager the next day and the blame was put on me. That I was too aggressive and in the future should talk to a manager. Hahaha! I tried multiple times and I was ignored and mocked. This place is an absolute joke from a pricing a customer service perspective. Facility is ok, but very small. Glad they got everyone who was desperate for a good gym to pay initiation fees and a few month's memberships because they'll need it. Don't think this will last long based on the feedback I'm hearing and my own personal experience. read more

The kids center is never open when we need it to be. Completely stupid that the pool and tennis courts / pickleball courts you aren't included in membership. Everything is so expensive!! The Laguna Niguel location is FAR better and CHEAPER and offers more amenities than the San Clemente location. The tennis office is also never open (closes 2pm Sunday's... makes zero sense) so you can't rent rackets etc. General facility hours are not long enough either. They have a lot to improve!! The staff is also not friendly (specifically the bar tender, giving a hard time for asking for ask- give me a break)! read more

Unfortunately experience was pretty poor. I reached out regarding tennis options and was promised they'd help me connect with advanced players at my level. However, once I joined it became clear they don't have any advanced women tennis players and they weren't inclusive enough to allow me to attend the advanced clinics that have become all male because they don't have or worse don't allow strong women players - which causes all players to be male. Feedback: if you don't make it interesting for top players, including women, to join you'll never have good tennis. I've now heard this from many former members of the club. Also no USTA or competitive play teams either and more expensive than other local clubs with better tennis and teams. Also, the service level of club personnel is pretty poor, sensed quite a bit of arrogance and regarding covid safety - some of the staff wears mask below nose or mouth yet wont let bring in your own ice container for water because of "health concerns" (really just want to make you buy stuff there). Lifetime San Clemente is above and beyond and gym experience. They have it all for the mind body and spirit!!!! My Happy Place. The Lifetime Tennis experience is absolutely the best of the best. Coaches Joakim and Kim have literally taught me house to play tennis !!! I would have never learned to play tennis without Lifetime San Clemente and the coaches. I actually hit some Professional shots according to the coaches ! I look forward to playing with all the Lifetime Tennis Pros in the future. Words can't describe the positive experience I have when I walk through the doors!!! What a great club in San Clemente! We go almost everyday for tennis, lap swimming, yoga or a leisurely lunch. Beautiful building and grounds, brand new, very professionally run, lotsa tennis courts, separate pickleball courts, wonderful locker rooms, 6 lane lap pool separate from the large leisure swimming pool, lotsa classes (yoga, pilates), bar, cafe, great gym and equipment, personal trainers. There are lots of tennis leagues for women and a solid Thursday men's night for men. Lots of "live ball" and skills clinics for tennis. And, they have done a great job with covid with outside classes, sanitizing, mask requirements, etc. Highly recommend. read more

I was really looking forward to being a member. The pictures looked amazing and I signed up 6 months prior to opening. I'm currently a member of The Bay Club in San Diego and expected the same level of club experience for the same price. The club is beautiful don't get me wrong but that's all I can say about it. The gym is shockingly small. The machines are crammed into a very small space. There is no place in the gym floor for something as simple as cubbies for keys or a sweater because they couldn't afford the square footage. The area designated for stretching is the freeway access to the cycle room and group fitness area. Which BTW don't have any space outside to sit down to put your cycle shoes on. On a typical day you can expect to weave your way through the gym area because it's so cramped. This is not a gym it's clearly a tennis and swim club, which I don't do either. The locker room is amazing but careful when you walk because they used marble type flooring so it's super slippery. The cafe takes 10 mins to make a shake and they don't serve anything more than that and bowls. Parking is a nightmare so I can't imagine what it will be like when they add more members. I cancelled my membership the within the first month. I really wanted this place to be everything that I expected. They did it right in Laguna Niguel but an epic fail in San Clemente. I'm frustrated that I lost so much money on this. read more

I decided to check out the new Life Time in San Clemente yesterday for a 10:30 am class. I arrived at 10 a.m. After circling in the full parking lot for 10 minutes, I decided to drive up on the hill and walk down. I parked way up close to the elementary school, because the parking along the road was also filled up. Fortunately I had a rolling gym bag. I am surprised that the city did not require more parking spaces for this club. On a positive note: the staff is incredible-- very professional, helpful and friendly. The facilities are beautiful and very clean and the pool is the perfect temperature. The aqua fitness instructor is fantastic! So if you are prepared to look for parking during the busy hours or alternately to walk a ways then it's worth it. Living in OC has spoiled us when it comes to parking- I think in LA this would be totally acceptable. I noticed by the time I left at 1 there were spaces open. Lastly I would note that this club does not market itself as a gym- it is more like a boutique club geared towards tennis with some great amenities. If you're looking for a gym I would recommend the one in Laguna Niguel which has a huge workout facility and lots of fitness classes. read more

I am so disappointed by this gym. They have very few group fitness classes to offer each day and have added a bunch of GTX classes that they charge an additional fee for. Not to mention, my dues have gone up $70 in the last few months.
