I've never joined a gym prior to signing up with Life Time Fitness. But I am nothing but thorough when choosing what gym to choose. I've compared them all against each other and I felt Life Time was the best fit for my needs. I've started working out to better take care if myself and change my unhealthy lifestyle. When I walked in at the Life Time in Sugar Land, the staff at the front desk were very welcoming. I had an appointment with one of their representative, but it turns out that person wasn't even there that day. Luckily they had someone else available and I ended up speaking to Ronnie. He was very pleasant, he explained everything to me in detail. He showed me around the facility, explaining their functions and what is available for members. He went into detail the goal of their company and the options I have if I chose to sign up. He asked about my interest and why I've decided to join a gym. It didn't take long for me to sign up. He recommended Brent as a personal trainer. Brent is great. He will work with you and what your fitness goals are and help you improve. I have fun in every workout session with him, although sometimes I wanna beady him up for what he is making us do, but I know it's for our own good. I have been a member at this Life Time location for about 5 months now. I have nothing but good things to say. The staff are always welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. The facility is always kept clean and neat. The fact that they are open 24/7 is a huge plus. Although, the reason I only gave 4 star is because I feel they don't offer enough group fitness classes later in the day. The classes are mostly in the morning. I work Mon.-Fri. every week so I can't take any of the classes offered even if I want to. The weekend classes are even more limited and they also only offer most of them until mid afternoon. But other than that, this facility is great and I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone. read more

No complaints about this amazing gym except it does get extremely crowded between 4 - 8 pm. But it has great trainers, great new equipment, FREE classes included with membership, great indoor and outdoor pool and a changing room that does not give me the creeps. I love this gym. As others have said, you get what you pay for. It is very clean. Everything is clean. Floors, workout areas, cafe, locker rooms, bathrooms, showers (one note, I use the women's so I can't speak for the men's locker area). In the women's side, I always seen one lady cleaning up, either cleaning the bathrooms, sink areas, or floors. Every day she is in there. For the rest of the gym, I always see people dusting and cleaning floors. Let's just say if I drop some food, I would have no problem picking it back up with the 5 or even 10-second rule! When I go, I mainly use the group classes, which I love. Total conditioning is the hardest and my favorite class, because it pushes you and also there is a good mix of people in the class. It is a mix of women and men, different ages, and some very athletic people go to this class. I love looking forward to my weekly TC class! But I also love the Zumba, Latin Fusion, and other dance classes, and then there are other classes you can pick from. Someone mentioned temperature in the reviews, and I do wish the group classes were colder because it can get very hot in some crowded classes. Other than group classes, I use the treadmills. I wish the TV's were closer to the treadmills (I don't use my phone). There is one line of treadmills close to the TV's in the main section, and there is one line close to them in the hard-floor area. But other than that, you are kind of too far away especially if you can't see very well like myself. However, not too big of an issue because I usually listen to my music. One thing I've noticed is that on many of the treadmills, the connection to connect your device to the treadmill doesn't work. Often times, I have to try the connections on a few treadmills before I find one that works. This is annoying and shouldn't happen for the price we are paying. Like someone else said, I agree that the stretching area should be bigger. They used to have stretch "machines" there, now they have Pilates machines. Just take both of those away and have that whole area open for people to do stretches. The current configuration is not working, it is too small and you are so close to other people. The Pilates machines appear to be unused 90% of the time, however they are allowed to take up valuable floor stretching space. This is annoying!! On the weekends, sometimes the studio rooms are open so you can stretch in peace in there. But not on weekdays. The child care center is very nice, and the staff is the friendliest in this department. They keep it clean, and there are many activities for your child to choose from. It has been so helpful for me, and my child loves loves loves playing there. There is a maze, basketball court, toy area, computers, desks to do artwork or even homework, and always kids to play with. This is a big reason why I go to this gym. Additionally, they are constantly hosting activities like Parents Night Out, School Holiday and Summer Camps, Halloween party, Christmas party, etc. (note there are extra charges for these). You can pretty much be entertained the whole weekend at the gym, between events and swimming and the Child Care play area itself. Anyone with kids will love it. Another thing I like is the basketball courts. Sometimes they have games, but always there are groups of people playing basketball as you walk by to go to Child Care or go upstairs to the main gym. I think it adds a level of "fun." You can also watch them playing from upstairs in the stretch area. There are some things that the gym can improve, like I said some of the connections on the treadmills, the stretching area, even the group fitness classes can always be improved by adding or changing around. Staff friendliness can improve. The child care staff and the Cafe staff is always great, but the rest can be so-so. Most of the personal trainers will never even give you a smile or a nod, I imagine it is because you are not giving them money! For their clients I am sure they great! But overall, it is great and you do get what you pay for. I love it and cannot imagine my life without it, frankly! We are a big gym-going family. I forgot to rave about the Cafe, it is great and staff there is very nice. Spacious and relaxing place to sit down and eat a quick bite. Another thing I forgot to add is that, in my experience, the members are not very friendly. Maybe it's just to me! The friendliest seem to be the ladies in the Zumba/dance classes. Other than that, don't expect people to smile or acknowledge you in any way. The TC class people (members, not instructors) seem to be the worst in this department. On the main floor, everyone seems to be in their own little worlds. But if you need your spirit picked up, go to a Zumba class! Reading the reviews and seeing a P-C Feedback/Backpeddleing from Management speaks volumes, with no action. The reduced hours and taking away machines makes for bad business. Stinks when management makes bad decisions with no customer input. Wont change because feedback has been B.S with not action. When I signed up 10 years ago this was an awesome gymn. This is a nice and decent gym. What I like most about it is that the workout machines are not cluttered close together where you can feel the person next to you breathing which is the case in many other gyms. I like my own small personal space, and I feel this gym does good by spreading out the machines. Also, there are a lot of activities LT Sugar Land has to offer. They have a friendly staff and good service. Their workout machines are decent. I have went to gyms where the machines make tremendous squeaking noises when used, which is embarrassing. That hasn't been a huge issue at this gym. Overall, it's a pretty good gym. Well worth the money. read more

Went for 10am yoga class Sunday morning, left something in the car so was 7 minutes late and the instructor told me sorry, class have started and slammed the door at my face. I stood there for a good 5 minutes there in disbelief on what just happened. Spoke to someone and they said someone will call me back, so let's see. Completely ruined my morning! Have not been treated like this before period, let alone in a so called exclusive gym I pay $150 a month for my family. I have been going to this location for a few months now and I am seriously contemplating if this membership is worth keeping. The facility is very nice and so far it has been kept very clean given that the club is overly packed at times, but customer service is one thing I keep struggling with in this place. I was much happier at LA Fitness which I paid $30 for every month. I will probably go back there. Stay away from this club and any lifetime fitness clubs. I put my account on hold due to some financial issues and not being able to go and the account was automatically reactivated after a period of time. I sent an EMail saying I did not want it reactivated and provided contact information. Nothing happened and they started charging me dues. I called after I saw the following month that I was charged again and they said they will look into it and again nothing. I have been going through some difficult times and I did not realize the monthly charge on one of the credit cards I hardly use anymore. Once I noticed, I called one more time them and they just said there was nothing they could do even though I never went into the club or used any of their facilities. No refund, no compensation or credit for services, nothing. They do not care about the customers only about charging all the fees that can with no customer support. This is not the first time I had a really bad experience with them and I should have learned from the first time and stayed away. I will not make that mistake again. Never again will I use or recommend the gym and I will encourage others to look elsewhere. read more

Better than any gym around . But for the money we are paying to use it- it should have no broken shower handles in the women's restrooms, women's lockers with wiht non working lock code system, cycles/bikes with broken pedals, equipments that are not working . Lifetime cannot be found by iPhone's or car's GPS location services. No warnings were given by personnel (Who knew about the problem) but derisive laughter.. missed my meeting because if it, gas wasted in two hours of rush-hour traffic, no identifying sign on the building that it was lifetime fitness. 90 Day Challenge is a SCAM. All they do is try to sell you training and other services. It's just an excuse to up sell you on their products, i.e., vitamins, detox or book a trainer for 30+ sessions. I've had sessions with 2 different trainers and was not impressed. They were always late to start but finished on time - so I basically was charge an hour but only received 45 mins of training. My husband and i have tried every other gym and Lifetime is by far the best. The quality of the gym experience is indescribable. You can truly enjoy your workout without having to wait on machines or weights. Memberships are pricier than other gyms, but definitely worth every penny. read more

It was a nice gym, until I decided to cancel my membership. Once I "canceled", I was charged for the following month, which is understandable most gyms do, except I was not told. BUt I noticed I was getting charged monthly still for another 3 months, and apparently, EVEN THOUGH I SPECIFICALLY SAID I wanted to CANCEL my account, the had me sign the "Hold" account form, therefore I was charged monthly, except I LITERALLY SAID I DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT. The manager I spoke to even said after I had sign, that my account was CANCELLED, not "put on hold" but CANCELLEDDDS and everything was done. now when I speak to corporate, they said there was nothing they can do. I've gone to this gym quite a bit as a guest of a Life Time member. I would definitely agree with previous reviews that it's a pretty expensive gym but I would argue you get your money's worth (the cost isn't terrible compared to other major cities' gym prices). I'm surprised there are such negative reviews of this place because I find the facilities extremely clean and the staff fairly helpful. There are a wide range of amenities so you have plenty of different activities to work with. During peak hours, it gets pretty hectic, particularly in the weight area, so that's definitely a downside but I think you'll find that in any popular gym. read more

I asked to cancel my membership at a certain date and had it written down and signed. However, my membership was cancelled earlier against my will. I tried to reach the membership manager multiple times but no response. One week later, after 5+ calls and 3 messages, I still could not connect with the membership manager. Management should focus on cleaning! Especially between group fitness classes, perspiration covers the floor and members have to clean up other members sweat before they can exercise! ERICA is a rude and disrespectful employee! I've been a member since 2007 and my kids love the place. I originally joined at cinco ranch which is much nicer than the sugarland facility. Recently I've been going to sugarland because it's closer. Today ERICA made my life very miserable!!!! I was eating dinner with my three children and she confronted me telling me that I lied about my child's dob who wanted to participate in rock climbing!!! Which he had sandals on and LT policy requires shoes be worn so my son didn't even get to rock climb! So I went to speak with management and they asked me to provide them with a birth certificate. They didn't ask for a birth certificate when they wanted me to sign the contract to join! When I came back to my table the staff in the cafe had thrown my food away money money money that's all they are about! I just spent $40 on shakes and pizza ruined my dinner and my night!!! read more

Ive been going to Lifetime in Fitness in Sugar Land for the past 4+ years, and this is easily my favorite gym I have been a member off. The facilties: weights/pool/sauna/group classes are offered at a very reasonable price. I really like the group fitness classes especially total conditioning. The people are great to, Ive meet some of my best friends here. Yes, it does get crowded from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, but so does every other gym. My only gripe that keeps it at fours stars as opposed to five is I wish they had half as many cardio machines and twice as many free weights. However, this is only a minor complaint, Lifteime fitness in Sugar Land is the best! read more

Most of the managers here are professional. I can tell the new GM has done a great job since he has been there and you can tell from the facility and team members. I am happy with the training team including the group fitness. There is nothing in Sugar Land that comes close to this. If anyone has an issue they should talk to the managers in there. They truly want to help and they will do anything they can to do so. I've never done yelp but I saw some reviews here and felt this was needed. Even if there is nothing they can do they will try to make it up to you some how. You can tell it is ran well. Every place has its challenges but this large club has very few and very minor issues. I booked Lifetime for my son's birthday and came prepared for a fun outdoor swim party that he had talked about and planned for months. We arrived at 5PM and without any explanation were told by staff that the party would be moved to the indoor pool. I came to find out that after booking my party 2 months ago and confirming the number of guests AND requesting lifeguards this same week, that Lifetime had failed to have enough staff (lifeguards) for the party. So per their complete lack of planning, they completely messed up my son's birthday party. On top of that there was barely an apology and the only person who was decently genuine and apologetic about the whole fiasco was the aquatics manager, not the 3 other people I talked to prior. They were also incredibly disorganized with providing the food and drinks that were included in the per kid cost that I had to pay up front. I will NEVER book another party at this facility and strongly discourage anyone else from doing so, it was overall an awful experience. read more

Make sure you read the fine print when you sign up for a membership at Lifetime. I was a member for years before entering the military. I moved, deployed, and tried to cancel my membership from overseas but Lifetime would only put it on hold. When I got back and finally was able to cancel (I had to send a letter), they charged me for another month because it arrived after the 5th of the previous month. Thank you, Lifetime, for taking care of your members. I wouldn't recommend any gym that tries to swindle their customers for a few extra bucks. read more

I have always loved the people I have met and worked with at the Life Time Fitness Spas. Elizabeth is not only good natured and loves her job, she also gives one of the best facials I've ever had. I can say the same for Michelle and her massages. She gives great relaxation massages as well as deep facia work for recovering injuries. It's really nice but for the price it's not worth it. The price keeps going up too. $130 for my wife and i and that's pretty steep considering we do not go every day. They also have very few free weights and weight machines. In fact they had only one preacher curl machine up until just recently. They have a huge state of the are jungle gym upstairs that takes up wayyyy too much space along with an area surrounding it for people to flip a damn tire and annoy everyone else. This area could be used to store more free weights or put more workout machines. You cannot swim with your child outside and utilize the pool if it's not summer and lifeguards are outside on duty, only adults can swim. It's always hot in Texas and you should be able to take your kids swimming whenever. The indoor poop is open year round with lifeguards but i prefer to swim outside and get some sun. I'm debating on keeping my membership. The club just updated a lot of equipment and the locker rooms so i fear that a price hike is coming, if it does I'm out of there. read more

Great gym as far as amenities... especially when it comes to kids that are 4th grade and up. Most gyms have baby areas for kids. This gym has rock climbing, basketball court, computer stations, indoor and outdoor pools with water slides. It also has a full restaurant inside serving breakfast, lunch and dinner,... so very convenient when hurrying to or from the gym and needing a quick but healthy bite. It's pricey but in this case you really do get what you pay for. read more

Very nice facility with plenty to do for the entire family......problem was the sales group. I signed up for a 7 day free trial online. Spoke with 2 people before my appointment at 6:30. Got to the facility and the person I was supposed to meet had already gone so I speak with yet someone else. Her presentation was great although high pressure to commit today to a membership. When I said I needed to speak with my wife about the costs, she immediately lost interest and was eager to get me out of her office. When I asked about the pass to try out the facility she said she didn't have any passes and that I needed to get it from the person who I was originally supposed to meet!! She said I could only try a few pieces of equipment upstairs and nothing else downstairs or anywhere else. Needless to say I didn't want to try anything after that experience so they won't be getting any money from me. read more

Cleanliness is clearly not a priority in this gym. Dirty floors and old equipment. The men's steam room is the worst, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years and smells of mold. Absolutely horrible! To top it off, I asked for a hair dryer in the family changing room while my 3 year old daughter was in swim class, and after 30 minutes there wasn't any. I complained and all they said is "Sorry, there are none available!". My daughter had to go out in chilly weather with wet hair. If you value your money and basic hygiene stay away! read more

I don't usually give out reviews, but this one deserves a 1 star or less. Got my membership about a year ago and I was told I would get a credit on my account after one month, which never happened but I didn't want to argue it out. Now, I moved out close to Katy and was told that I could be let out of my contract if I lived in a 15 mile radius, and I'm 14 miles out. I've been calling even went all the way to the location to meet with someone. No one called me back and I was told to come back another time as if I live close. I finally get a hold of the manager, Miguel, and he flat out tells me I can't cancel and to call corporate without even trying to help. I work in customer service and I know for a fact this is not how you help your customers out especially one that has been very patient and flexible. I did not mind paying a lot for the membership but I'm not getting what I'm paying for and no one has been helpful in the slightest. read more

If I could give this a hundred negative stars, I would. I have a situation where I am rarely around and I went to THIS location to close my account in january, 2016. Not only was my account not cancelled, but they took me off my freeze and reactivated my account even though I have not been in for months. I take responsibility for not following up on my bills but they continued to charge an inactive member for 3 years. It was not until recently that I am around to check and I will reiterate this over and over again that management passed it without any care and corporate kept pointing blame 100% to me and literally told me (Brittany is the name) that it is your fault that you can't see $100 charged to you monthly. Once again, I'll take some blame but something here does not add up. I would advice members not not only avoid this one location, but all locations. My family and I are fairly new members. The reason I wanted to join was for the group fitness classes. I have tried to get into one particular class 3 times even arriving 15 minutes prior to the class- can't get in - no room!! They need to offer high demand classes more than once in the evenings. I just walked out of another class because it is so full, I could not see the instructor - I was spending more time trying to see what the instructor was doing than working out! Very disappointed - starting to look for another gym tomorrow!! read more

I would give it 4 stars if it wasn't so damn expensive. The pool area is pretty boring for the kids. They enjoyed it twice and never wanted to go back. The people are friendly and so the staff. Make sure you have Verizon for Internet or something that gets good service because there Wifi is TERRIBLE!!!! Also there's TV's are so out of date!! You need a am/fm receiver to be able to hear them and no one has one of those anymore. Definetely in need of upgrades but overall a pretty good gym. read more
