I've been shopping here for about a month now so I'm surprised that Yelp search came up empty when…read moreI looked up the business name tonight. The building which used to house one of my favorite Asian DVD and VCD stores is now a Chinese market with a very generic name. Since I do most of my produce shopping at local farmers markets my only reason for shopping at Asian markets these days are for the kinds of vegetables I don't see often at farmers market. I tend to look for and buy the same things all the time. These things include baby bok choy sum, gailan (Chinese broccoli), moqua (fuzzy melon), Napa cabbage, green onions and Chinese long beans. The frugal Chinese in me likes to make price comparisons a must and since there are not that many produce markets within this stretch on Clement Street that task is pretty simplified. Prior to finding A & A Products my shopping trips in the area were pretty much satisfied at the Richmond New May Wah Supermarket or their offspring Healthy Produce or the Lien Hing Supermarket a few blocks away. With the addition of A & A Products though I now find myself shopping here more often if my shopping lists consist of vegetables only. Their prices are generally 10 to 20 cents per pound less than Richmond New May Wah, and I love the quality of their baby bok choy sum much better. At a lot of the Asian markets these are pre-bagged in clear plastic bags, but so far at A & A Products they're selling these loose so the buyer can pick and bag their own greens. The gailan was exceptionally young and fresh this weekend and priced 30 cents less per pound than their competitors. I usually pay hefty prices for my favorite large size honey tangerines at $1.99 per pound at all of the other markets I've checked but found them here for just $1.39 per pound this weekend. In addition to the Asian vegetables they sell selected dry goods, canned products and Chinese and Vietnamese cooking sauces also. The selection is nowhere as vast as it is elsewhere, but for my shopping needs it works out fine. Their refrigerator section carries a good selection of noodles and tofu products too, but I'm choosy about my brands when it comes to buying those products so until they carry House brand organic tofu or Canton Noodle Company fresh noodles I'll be buying those somewhere else. This place won't replace my love for Richmond New May Wah Supermarket and their awesome selection, but if it's just veggies I need it's good to know this place is here with absolutely no lines at the cash register. Buyer beware, it's cash only so come prepared!

I've been going here for years and never thought to say Thank You California Produce, until today…read more Every time I go there's something new and always at the best prices in the neighborhood. They have everything and if don't they will get it for you. I was there yesterday and the register and credit card machines were down so he said to pay him next time.. my bill was over $40.. No other Market would do that for their neighbors. As I stopped in this morning to pay my tab.. I noticed his wall of post-it IOU's. He said these are all my customers that I gave on credit. And that he trusts them all.. What a great person and generous business man. Thank You for all you do

They have a great fresh selection of fruits and vegetables. They also have a wide selection of cheese, tofu, and *drumroll* DAIYA CHEESE! It's the closest place in the TL to get vegan cheese! They took it away for a while, but I specifically requested they bring it back, and they did! I checked the other night and they even have Daiya sliced cheeses! That's customer service right there. They have cheap limes. I know California is having a lime shortage, but somehow they still sell them for 8/$1. It might be 6/$1 now but who knows. You'll find unique health food and ethnic food items here that you can't find at other corner markets. Perfect when you can't even think about trekking on over to Whole Foods or Trader Joes The people working there are super friendly and they even take credit card! Plus, they are open late. In short, daiya cheese, limes, and capers. If your grocery list ever looks crazy, California Produce will help you with it!

Growing up in San Francisco there is something I noticed which doesn't really get highlighted and…read moreis a collaboration between two different continents and many different cultures . Walking around in the Mission District and you would notice lots of small businesses which are grocery stores and markets will have food and drinks which are Latin American and Asian . Somehow these visible stores in the San Francisco neighborhoods are usually invisible to the media and that includes social media .The only time I see these foods are being celebrated is when they are separated at a Costco or at ethnic food aisles at an AI ( Albertsons Inc.) store such as a Safeway which will have these bottles and cans on the shelfs. Some restaurants in the city which serves fusion Latin and Asian dishes are getting their produce when they need to reload at these grocery stores . I ran into one on Clement street which was formerly known as El Chico Produce and it's now called Del Rio Produce. On a Clement street stroll I landed at a grocery store with international products and has Chinese products. Inside it felt like Deja Vu as I felt going back in time to my childhood in the Mission District shopping at a similar grocery store. You will find an aisle of international cheeses. You will find also are lots of ingredients to make Adobo chicken. You will also see ramen with Korean, Japanese and Mexican flavors. There are different types of berries and nuts available. This is the spot to embrace the international diversity of San Francisco through drink , foods, and produce . In the month of May it's AAPI month and Cinco de Mayo along with Carnival in San Francisco so plan a visit to Del Rio Produce ( Not in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil home of Carnival) on 23rd Avenue and Clement. This Supermarket reminds of the ones in SF that are mostly in the Excelsior and the "Mission" selling different Latin American and Asian products to make food dishes in the cultural "tradition "also offering organic fruits and vegetables to promote "nutrition" these international foods stores in the city should get more "recognition" In San Francisco Real estate prices stay steady or "soar" and if you don't live in the neighborhood you find about these places online with Yelp and "Nextdoor "some try to connect this food as part of some narrative and "folklore "but these ingredients are still being sold today and never forgotten at the city international "grocery store "
