Daindruff, red itchy scalp next day. Not recommended. Got charged for taking them off

Unfortunately. I did my extensions second time, she put glue too close to my skin and I had bad allergic reaction. After 3 days she took them off (no time for earlier appointment). And she charged me 50$ extra for taking them off. I was loyAl customer over one year. I won't be back never to get my hair done over there...

Senior colorist Marie helped make this amazing new fresh look for me!

Mixed feelings.. below you will read my initial appts being awesome.. but as I progressed through my years of being a client to Marie, I was treated worse & worse, and neglected when my appt was severely delayed, with no "oh my gosh I am so sorry that previous client took so long", nothing... She was like mad & annoyed that I was there... Um hello... I trust you... I pay you hundreds of dollars each time I sit in your chair... I have since quit... but you can still read some of my good experience I initially had here:"Look at this stuff, isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my collection's complete? Wouldn't you think I'm the girl...The girl who has everything? " - The Little Mermaid song, I am now basically a Little Mermaid... I LOVE MY NEW locks, and feel like the girl, the girl who has everythiiing thanks to amazing hair colorist Marie at the Life Spa! I was initially nervous about switching from the colorist I have used for the last couple years at the Asha Aveda Salon in Streets of Woodfield, but she was gone on Maternity leave, and I needed a new lady, fast! (Not dissing Asha Aveda, still a very nice salon, just wanted to try somewhere new) So I spoke to the manager Casey, a lovely sweetheart who never forgets a face, (or hair!) and showed her pictures of what I would like to have done, and asked her who she would recommend to best fit and be most comfortable to help me achieve the specific look I wanted (see my pics I posted here!) and she immediately, and without question recommended "Marie" for me! I do believe Marie is a "Senior Stylist" or something similar to that and let me tell you, she has mad skills! Jamie at the front desk patiently helped me search through Marie's schedule to find a time soon that matched up with my schedule, I just couldn't wait any longer, I was dying to get my hair color done...just beyond excited! I was able to get in very soon, it was like 2 days later, for a very early morning appointment on account of my very long very thick hair. When I arrived that morning, Marie greeted me and seated me down in her station, and I pulled out my photos, and my pinterest board pictures of ohh about 100 pics of inspiration for the right shade of red, and the look I wanted to achieve. I was so nervous because I've seen the communication go so wrong before between client and stylist, and they end up just doing what they think will be "best" without listening to what their client truly wants... I don't mean here, or even the other Aveda in Schaumburg, just... previously... and it's horrifying, especially for such a big, drastic, bright change! You want it to go smoothly... AND IT ABSOLUTELY DID! WITHOUT A HITCH!!! She showed me their hair color sample swatches and once she had a good idea of exactly the red shade I had in mind, she popped in the back to quickly mix up the custom color, while I looked in the mirror and said farewell to my faithful all blonde locks. The girl working at reception (who's name now slips my mind, I'm so sorry, I'm usually really good at making mental note of names so I can mention their amazing work in my reviews!) offered me a beverage, and she even went over to the LifeCafe to grab me a coffee (on account of it being hella-early morning... well, in my book... this girl needed some coffee stat) which was delish, I have never had coffee from the LifeCafe in LTF before, and it did not disappoint! Once the color was mixed, Marie and I got to chatting, like ladies do when at the salon, and she is a super cool chick! We had a good time learning about each other's lives as our sure to be long-time client-stylist relationship blossomed, and she was painting what looked like blood on my head, wasn't weird at all, because I was so super excited, and felt I trusted her to help me with the super fun red-blonde ombre look I wanted! (again, check out the pix.. before & after.. omg love it!) Once all the color was applied, I only had to sit for like... 15 minutes maybe? for it to finish processing, can't remember the exact time... then it was time to head back to the bowl to wash out! Having someone else wash your hair feels simply maaagical.. like a mini-massage for your scalp... Marie custom chose from their long line of products my shampoo & conditioner, and I learned that since Red is the fastest color to fade, washing it in cool/cold water will help lock in the color longer, and fade less... AWESOME! After washing all the color out, we headed back to her station where she round-brushed-blow-dried my hair into the most beautiful, sleek style... once it was finally starting to dry I could see the finished color... and OHH MAAHH GOSH! IT WAS PERFECT! EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!!! EXACTLY!!! I was so relieved, and elated at my new look, it seriously could have turned to a scary shade, or had the risk to look something fiercely funky, but Marie's expert skills made it absolutely 100% perfect and just what I wanted.

    balayage done terrbily

First, I want to say that I would have given this place 5 stars if it was purely based on the nail tech - Rachel!! She's the best. But this review & rating is about my TERRIBLE BALAYAGE experience. Similar experience as the reviewer on June 21, 2017, but mine occurred early June. I think we both had the same tech, Sarah. She convinced me while i was getting my nails done that she can do a great bayalage on my hair. We discussed what I wanted, and the main request was to keep it more ashy and less copper/warm colors. The result....5hours, $200+, all copper. I went back to Sarah to get it fixed, see my photo. No cost, but I tipped b/c I felt bad for the time. When I got home, noticed that it was still hideous. I could not walk out without my hair in a bun. Then I went to senior stylist, Marie, at no cost, and I tipped again. Result now? Down $300, dark roots and white blonde ends which is NOT what I wanted. I ended up having to go to a Senior Colorist at Mario Tricoci. She did an amazing job fixing the copper color and fixing the choppy/blocks of color in my hair. That was another $100+. Now it's August, and I'm writing this review because I get upset every time I wash my hair as my hair is SOOOOO damaged that my natural curls are just flat and stringy now. I'm now buying the most expensive products in the market to try to revive my lifeless hair. I don't want anyone else to end up having the same experience and losing so much money. I don't think these girls are trained to provide these very complicated hair techniques.

As you can see Rachel does a wonderful no chip and the french manicure is gel. My nails have never been this strong and healthy.

This is exactly what I got. There actually was a student there, so both her and the masseuse both worked their magic on me. It was the most intense massage I've ever had (not for wimps!) but that's because I asked for it, and I needed it. I felt amazing after. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the masseuse got there almost 15 minutes late (I know I scheduled my appt last minute, but if she couldn't make it then I could have just scheduled it for 4:15 instead of rushing there just to wait) and it was over 15 minutes of me laying there with a heating pad on my back before anyone came in. This got frustrating after a while because I could hear everyone talking up front so it wasn't peaceful, I didn't know it would be this long of an ordeal (I assumed maybe 5 minutes max of this would happen to warm my muscles up) and I have a heating pad at home if I want 15+ minutes of sitting with it on. But everything after that was amazing. I'll definitely be coming back. Thanks!!

I knew my neck was tight and I hoped a massage would help loosen things. Knowing that I didn't want to go to a normal spa for a simple relaxation massage, I found Monica's Massage online and thought I'd give it a shot. I booked a 90 minute massage, assuming that the length would help. I told her my issues and headache problems and she told me that I should do a deep tissue massage and she went to work on me. The massage was deep, intense, and loosened me up amazingly. I had NO idea that I had knots in places on my upper back and shoulders. She told me that 90 minutes would be too long for this type of massage and we only did 50 minutes. It was *perfect.* The night of the massage I felt better than I had in weeks and was able to sleep through the night without waking with head pain. I plan to return to loosen up the rest of the knots and keep me in tip top shape. (Update October 2014) I have been headache free for months, and cannot recommend Monica's massage highly enough. I return for periodic maintenance, but have been feeling amazing ever since starting this process. THANK YOU Monica!

This is different from your ordinary massage places. Here, they use Acupressure and Reflexology. That means they may use their elbows and sometimes even knees to dig deep. About a week ago I slipped a rib out of place while wearing a corset at a costume party. Beauty is dangerous and painful. I've been using a heating pad and lots of Advil for my rib pain drowning my sorrows in Miller Lite and Sons of Anarchy episodes on Netflix but I digress. I set out to do two things today return a coat to Eddie Bauer and get a kick ass massage. I did both and the massage was truly a mind blowing experience. My masseuse 5'4", 100 lbs soaking wet started out slow and I thought I'd have to ask for someone tougher. About 5 minutes after her warm up she mounted the table and I realized she had one foot planted on my right hip and the other foot on my left shoulder. I've had massages at Oriental Chi before but this woman was part Spider Man and Wonder Woman in one. After an hour of being elbowed along the spine, kneed in both of my thighs while she practically sat on me I was relaxed and totally pain free. I want to see this woman next week. I have no idea what her name is but WOW! My back feels fantastic, my rib pain is a distance memory and I can put my heating pad away. Oriental Chi is an awesome massage experience and you don't pay for fluff. You pay for 60 minutes of deep tissue massage for $56. My massage was so good I tipped the lady $24. She earned it.

Second, that's how I knew it was going to be a good massage! Good Asian food & massages are better when they barely speak English & have bad customer service lol I had to call a few times to get an appointment. I noticed she doesn't like to make appointments in advance, I got an appointment the day of. I go to the chiropractor every month, but my back still aches, so my chiropractor actually recommended getting massages. I had the combo massage for an hour at $80 & it felt way longer than an hour! Assumed this was half Thai & regular massage, which was great because last Thai massage I had elsewhere was SO PAINFUL. She started by standing on my back and dug her toes in & cracked my back in 4 different places! That's when I knew it was gonna be good! She cracked me in places I didn't even know could be cracked! She asked if I liked it hard in the beginning, so if you don't like it hard just let her know. I like it hard and this was almost perfect.. Thai massages I just assume are slightly more "hard" so I expected it to be, but wasn't overbearing. I must've had a tight right shoulder because she was massaging that area a lot & was relentless until it loosened up. She does full body front & back. She even cracked my neck & sides like my chiropractor does. It was an overall great massage. I actually plan on making this my massage place now. Will be coming back every other month for this massage! Heads up, she does answer the phone during massages which ruined the "zen" but didn't bother me as much. Also felt bad because the person on the phone couldn't understand her thick accent. She was like yelling "see you at 6 pm!" I assume she looses some clients over this.. If you have a bad back, I think Thai massages is the only thing that works. I spent around $130 for a Himalayan rock massage at another place & it was terrible. They just rubbed the rock on my body for an hour & did not touch me once! So hole in the wall Asian places is much better than the boujee massage parlors I been to.
