The service technician never showed the first time and told Lifestyle Outdoors he had inspected the hot tub and knew what the issues were. The second time he showed up I spoke with him, he had very poor communication skills and got worked up. He clearly had not looked at the hot tub as he tried dismantling my deck as opposed to simply lifting a deck access gate. He began to make me feel completely uncomfortable so I asked him to leave. The customer service at Lifestyle Outdoors really wasn't bothered and rescheduled for 2-weeks out with another technician. I asked if there was anything they could do to have it serviced sooner and they said no. I explained I would leave a yelp review for this and the customer service rep told me that was fine. This is a well run family business that gave us a fantastic experience from beginning to end. We visited the showroom over the summer and the place looked gutted - their stock was almost all gone. It turns out spas are in high demand during these times. Spencer guided us through the entire Jacuzzi line. He was patient and not at all salesman-y. He explained that because manufacturing had slowed because of COVID, if we ordered a custom tub, it wouldn't arrive until 2021. Luckily, they had placed a huge order that he said *might* come in late-October or November. We were fortunate that the exact one we wanted was on their list. Our backyard isn't easily accessible but Phil, one of their installers, came by to scope it out. He was skeptical they could pull it off, but when the spa finally arrived (early-November), they subcontracted a crane to put the spa in place (see photos). The installers were total pros and explained everything thoroughly. When we had additional questions after the install, Spencer was quick to respond. This was a big purchase, made more so by the crane, but the experience was painless and we love the tub! I'm gonna try to not ramble or be long winded but here is my story: My family has owned an above ground spa for over 15 years so I'd like to say we have a little bit of experience with them. Our first Spa which was manufactured by a company that's popular (but will remain nameless), worked great for the first few years but then started to give us problems we went back-and-forth with it until we got tired and finally drained it and just left it there. Now that we are or older and have the aches and pain's that go along with age, we started to shop for a Spa. Thinking that we would save money and time, we went to the Spa Show at the LA FairPlex (like a lot of people do), and basically dealt with salesmen who didn't know what they were selling and their supervisors who were rude and acted like we didn't know anything about Spas or how to spend our money. Fast forward a week and we were in Pasadena. We used Yelp to find a store that sold Spas and were lucky enough to choose Lifestyles Outdoor. When we walked into the show room we were greeted by Robert and explained our situation and were more than pleasantly satisfied with not only his professionalism but also his knowledge of Spas. He was patient as we went back-and-forth between all the different spas trying to narrow down exactly what we wanted. During the entire buying process Robert was never pushy, impatient or tried to "hard sell" us. He knew everything about each of the spas in his store, how they worked, what would be a good fit for us and why. He also educated us on how the new spas are more efficiently built and require less maintenance. When it came down to price we paid the same or even less than what the Spa Show prices were. But more than anything we dealt with Robert, who was much more professional, friendly and knew exactly what he was talking about! We purchased our Hot Spring, Flair spa with complete confidence then set up delivery and began our process. Everything from our initial contact through the purchase, through delivery and also with Roberts follow up was excellent. He was patient and informative and calm and really tried to find the right tub for me. He asked lots of questions and patiently answered every question I threw at him. In the age of online shopping, the only thing brick-and-mortar really has to offer is good customer service, lifestyle outdoor failed miserably. Our first issue with them came when we asked them for recommendations for a contractor. The contractor they suggested simply didn't show up for the first four appointments. On the last appointment when I called him out on it, he started hurling insults at me. This continued to the point where I had to block his number because he kept calling, not to apologize or make anything right, but to keep insulting me. Our second problem was a classic 'over promise under deliver' issue. I'm fully aware of the supply chain issues right now but they seemed fairly certain they could get us the hot tub at a specific date. "It was in the warehouse and simply needed to be delivered." When that day came and went with no update I called to find the delivery was running a month late. No calls, no updates, no emails, nothing. Finally, when the tub was delivered, the delivery guys(who were fantastic) found a much different situation than they were expecting. The delivery notes said there were four steps to climb. There were twenty-six. When we ordered the tud, the salesman and I looked at a satellite image of my yard. I measured openings, counted steps, enven shot a video of what the delivery guys should expect. The salesman completely dropped the ball and I have no idea where got the four steps from. The delivery guys were completely correct in their assessment that this was more work than they were getting paid for. We ended up compensating them at the rate they requested, no argument there. It was a hard job and they deserved it. However, when I called the salesman to see if he would cover the extra cost he blamed the lack of information on me and made no attempt to make it right. This was obviously his mistake and he would not admit it or even seem to care. I'm not the kind of guy that requires the 'white glove' treatment for that sort of thing but I will not give money to a business that treats me as if I don't matter. read more

Our Malibu house had the challenge of a the gas line easy not being possible to get to a Spa. The original drawbacks in my mind were most above ground spas look ugly and dated. We went to Lifestyle as they had the two top brands we were considering. We soon were educated that there are some very good looking and modern models. We went with the Jacuzzi J-LX collection. It was a shocker at how energy efficient it is! To keep it at 104 degrees year round it only cost around $17 per year!!! I fell two stories down an escalator several years ago and suffer from pretty bad arthritis and pain in my back, knees and ankles making it difficult to exercise. Fast forward several years to my retirement and I found myself gaining weight from being unable to exercise. My physical therapist advised me to turn to swimming and water aerobics. I tried several public pools and found they used too much chlorine and the times I could use the pool were greatly limited - so I decided to purchase a swim spa and install it in my unused 1926 era garage. Robert was very knowledgeable and helped me decide which swim spa was best for my needs and recommended a contractor, Hugo, to make the alterations to my garage to turn it into the perfect room to house my new pool. After a somewhat tricky installation into my garage and many phone calls to both Robert and Hugo, everything was up and running. I've had the spa for about 5 months now. I use it daily (swimming and water exercise in the AM and just relaxing in the spa in the PM before bed) and so far I've lost over 40 pounds and my physical therapist likes the progress I'm making. TheTub was delivered and installed recently . The crew did a great job. After we finished getting the electric updates worked out ( we went with 220) we we're ready to fill and start enjoying. We were not very familiar with the chemical process so we started texting with Robert. He was very professional and happy to help. We are very happy with our product and are enjoying the hot tub nightly!! Once I was able to communicate with a manager they refunded our delivery fee. They were surprised at what happened and made it seem like it is very rare for these sorts of delivery problems to happen. We haven't received our spa yet, but I have to give Robert props for the low-pressure sales approach. We had the choice narrowed down to two brands, and had just been to the other place. The first salesman was the stereotypical fast talker, great price if we bought right then, implied that his tubs didn't need chemicals, but the pressure made me nervous and we left to check out Lifestyle Outdoor. Robert was amazingly calm, answered our questions, quoted us a price without any pressure. I told him that I couldn't make a decision in the store, and he was fine with that, we kept talking for a while, and I just realized that even if we left, we'd be back, so we bought it right then. We actually paid more money for the Jacuzzi, and we're waiting longer as well (until May rather than March at the other place) but the product fits us better and the shopping experience was so much more enjoyable. Jim is my guy, and he did an amazingly clear job of showing me what was the deal with the modern hot tub world. He really simplified it. After looking online I was just even more confused. Like most people, I work my godamn ass off, and before I die I want to experience soaking misery away after a soul crushing day of staring at a screen and pecking at a keyboard like a pigeon. But coming from north eastern blue collar roots I've never felt like the luxury of such a thing was attainable or like I deserved it . I didn't think the universe would allow such a thing for me to happen. So far it turns out I'm right, because my shitty 100 amp box is about to blow, and i was too stupid when I bought my house to make any sense of it. I just said "I'll take it" like a goon. Now I'm waiting on the LADWP to bless me with some sort of totalitarian approval letter. Anyway, I went in and Jim made sense of hot tubs to me. And I made an informed decision in less than an hour. And there wasn't really bullshit. He showed me the cheapest tub and said that it's actually a great deal. I went with a slightly better one (which is probably why the universe is fucking with me) and although it's just a frigid lagoon of sadness at the moment, I'm anticipating escaping hot tub purgatory in the near future, and entering some other purgatory that still blows but has a hot tub. If you want a hot tub, even if you don't know shit like me, go in and talk to Jim. Just for christs sake make sure your bullshit, third world, ghetto ass, for some reason incredibly expensive, shit house, has electric that can handle a tub. Otherwise you'll be sitting here wanting to die, watching Teen Mom, while a cold-hot tub right out the window, mocks you for being the undeserving, pathetic, spoiled baby man you are. Hopefully this won't happen to you, I'm over a week in so I should survive it. But if it does happen to you, meaning you talked to Jim, bought the tub, got it delivered, filled it, but now for whatever reason it's gonna be a week or more before you can use it, then without question your best option is to kill yourself. read more

The office sent a bill for $190 plus parts because the spa was not purchased through them. I've used the company before and never been charged this extra amount, and I feel it should have been disclosed. I tried explaining to Jennifer that I was quoted $150 and she couldn't care less.
