The waiting area

I have always had a smooth, clean, and very accommodating experience with the staff at Lifetime Optometry. They're very helpful in finding which styles look best on me, and I have accidentally shown up on the wrong appointment day & they got me seen that day even with it being my mistake! The best!

Location: Business is in a strip mall area nestled between Sixth & Smith on the West side of the complex, closer to the Smith entrance. Limited parking with a handicap next to the building. 1400 W. Sixth St Suite 101. Decor: Very professional, clean and laid out very nice. Nice waiting room with TV's because we gotta watch our favorite shows while waiting! Many frame display cases with a great selection of frames. Staff: Cheerfully greeted upon entering, all staff professionally dressed in medical attire. Experience: We had our own frames and prescription and only needed prescription lenses made. Therefore we did not need an appointment or exam. They checked us in right away and we waited 5 min in the waiting room. The technician that helped us was very professional and provided us our options with costs. She made several measurements and explained how they are used to develop the prescription lenses. Pricing was average. Was informed it will be about 2 weeks for delivery. Overall an excellent visit.

I took my 11 year old to see Dr. Chan. This was our first time going to Target Optical so we were…read morecautiously optimistic. Dr. Chan was very welcoming. I was using a new insurance so he was patient with me as I tried to figure out what my policy info was during check in. Yes, he is his own receptionist! During the visit he was extremely patient and understanding of my daughters feelings towards the exam. He made her feel comfortable to ask all her questions as this was a consultation for contacts. I honestly don't see us going to another Optometrist.

I saw her with the last three patients and she kept gloves on the whole time. Don't think she changed them. While her assistant was great about cleaning the machines she used, the doctor wiped nothing down before having me use them. As we talked about my eye needs she kept the machine in front of my eyes, so to talk to her, sitting at her computer, I had to lean back and over to speak with her. After declaring my 50 year old eyes looked great and showed no signs of dryness, irritation or damage, on another machine that was suppose to measure eye health internally (for an extra $39) it kept glitching. And the conversation/mumbling that went on less than a foot away between doctor and assistant was about them not understanding why the machine was glitching, naming my too small pupils (???) and my dry eyes (???) as affecting the machine all said as if I wasn't sitting there. After 5 minutes of sitting at an awkward angle while the machine just kept recalibrating over and over again, I ended the appt. On a positive note, I left with much better contacts and will no longer need to use reading glasses!! Next time I will make sure my appt is with the husband. The ladies on the Target side of the office were absolute dolls. Super sweet.

Last year I had no issues with this office and was always satisfied with my visits. Unfortunately,…read morethis year has been a very different experience, and it seems to coincide with new staff and more aggressive sales tactics. I went in for a routine eye exam and simply asked for my prescription at the end. I did not report any problems with my current contacts. Despite this, I was encouraged to try one-day contact lenses instead. When I asked for my prescription, I was told they needed to order trial lenses for my current brand, which meant I had to come back again just to receive what I already use. When I returned for that follow-up, even though my appointment was on time, it still took about 10 minutes for someone to take me to the back. I had already clearly stated that I was not planning on purchasing contact lenses through the office so there wouldn't be any pressure, yet they still attempted to place an order at the end of my second appointment, and were reluctant to release my prescription until I firmly told them I was going to buy elsewhere. This was frustrating, especially since I'm paying for the eye exam and prescription and should not feel like it's being held back. To add to the frustration, I had a separate upcoming appointment scheduled for Monday that I canceled over the phone, yet I still received a text asking me to confirm that appointment after the fact. Overall, the experience felt pushy and disorganized compared to previous years. Because of these new tactics, I'll be switching to a different eye care office.
