The Bad: Some time between the installation date and when we agreed to the contract with the sales rep, the sales rep left or was let go by the company. The scope of work as agreed upon by the sales rep didn't seem to agree with what the installation crew thought needed to be performed. This led to the grass and pavers not being installed to our expectations (not even close). We had a lot of back and forth between us and this really nice young customer service gentleman named Brandon. The Good: Bob, the owner, called us and apologized and explained to us what happened. He had his crew redo everything (which was a lot of reworking for such a small job) and was completed within a day. Appeared to be a miscommunication between the former sales rep, the installation crew and ourselves; however, the owner wanted to do right by us and absorbed the additional labor/material costs. The install crew was amazing. I wish I caught their names. They were extremely polite, respectful and cleaned up after themselves. They worked so hard, fast and efficient.... And on the entire day before Thanksgiving. Things happen. And in our case, it did; however, Ruff n Tuff "made right by us" and I would recommend them to all my neighbors and friends. I paid $5,000 in 2014 for fake grass in my backyard. Even though I had a dog, that turf never…read moresmelled and never suffered damage from hot spots. Fast forward to 2026. I paid more money to Ruff n Tuff for new turf than I did for all new interior paint throughout my entire house, all new windows, and an all new roof. This was by far the most expensive home improvement project I've invested in to date. About 60% of the way through the multi day install, they told me the neighbor's low e window was melting the new turf in streaks in one portion of my yard. They didn't offer a solution other than advising me to ask the neighbor to put a film on his window or to keep the turf covered to prevent the damage. At that point I had no choice but to proceed with the rest of the install; they had already ripped up the old turf and were more than half way done installing the new turf, but I was very disappointed because I obviously would not have chosen that product if I had known there would be an issue. I felt like I was being gaslit too, because Bob basically told me the reason the old turf didn't melt was because it was poorer quality. (What!?) I have samples of the old turf from its day 1 install. It was fluffy and beautiful 12 years ago, just like the Ruff N Tuff turf, but it never melted! They replaced the grass in the area where it had melted, finished the job, and I paid them the full amount thinking I could manage the situation by keeping the area covered. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts (I placed several lawn chairs over the area in question to ensure it remained covered), there are now several spots in that area where the turf has completely melted. I'm beyond disappointed because I know from experience now that not all turf products are the same and this could have been prevented. We could have designed around that area, or I could have researched and purchased a superior product, but I expected the experts to know what to look for and guide me through the process. They didn't, and now I have very expensive melted grass in a section of my yard. Also, the area behind my house where my dog pees now smells. I hose it daily, but it doesn't help. I didn't have that problem with the prior turf. All I can say is I'm not sure you get what you pay for with this product. The installers were fantastic, but I'd recommend a different product.
