I stopped into Lightbulbs Unlimited on Beverly about three weeks ago looking for a specialized red light. My girlfriend needed the right type of lighting to set the mood for her TikTok content, and I'll be the first to admit--I know absolutely nothing about lightbulbs. It was last minute, about 30 minutes before closing, so I called ahead and then decided to go in. I'm really glad I did. I was helped by a young man named Guy, and he was outstanding. You could tell he genuinely cared about what he was doing. He asked thoughtful questions--whether I wanted LED or a traditional red bulb--and walked me through the pros and cons of each option in a way that actually made sense to someone like me. What really stood out was how hands-on he was. He picked out a few options, brought them to the counter, and used a socket setup to actually show me how each bulb looked when lit. Then he carefully explained the differences so I could make an informed decision. That level of service is rare. The store itself is incredible--if it exists in the world of lightbulbs, they have it. But what made the experience memorable was Guy. He was knowledgeable, polite, enthusiastic, and took real pride in helping a customer. You just don't see that level of care as often anymore. I'm old enough to say "back in the day," and honestly, this felt like that kind of customer service--where someone actually takes the time to help and make sure you get exactly what you need. This is such an easy place to get all your lighting and bulb replacement needs in person. It's really convenient to be able to just take an old bulb in here and have them match it for you. I also took a couple valuable antique vintage lamps here to have them repaired. One of them was over 100 years old and they did a beautiful job rewiring it. This is my go to place for specialty bulbs, especially halogen bulbs which are nearly obsolete. You will not find them at Home Depot, that's for sure. I usually buy their entire stock of certain bulbs when I can knowing someday that will stop being made. Their prices are not inexpensive, but you're also paying for really knowledgeable service. You can bring anything in with questions and they usually have the answers. I've even texted them and they've provided help. Service is always great at this location and in Santa Monica. Parking in a bear in this tiny lot so look for street parking. read more

I've been buying from the West Hollywood store here for many years. They have other locations as well but I've not been to those. This store has a terrific inventory including all sorts of unusual lighting products small to large that you don't find typically at most stores. I've brought in some oddball fixtures that required new bulbs and somehow they've always found ones that work perfectly. I never would have been able to successfully hunt and peck around on my own for these. Their customer service is superb! Recently, I went to stock up on some disaster preparations resulting from our region's devastating January 2025 wildfires. Joseph and Bobby who have helped me in the past were there and as always were fantastic - friendly, helpful, have great senses of humor and really know their stuff. Each time I've gone, I've felt that entire staff is terrific. They do repairs, here, too. A few tips: Their parking lot is pretty tiny. They have a fairly limited return policy - seven days for exchange or store credit only, no refunds, so purchase carefully. Their hours are also relatively short - and they're closed on weekends. LIGHT BULBS & BAD ATTITUDE UNLIMITED. Called the store at 5:45 pm today to see if they carried a particular bulb...'halogen' MR-16. Yes..they said they have it. I was pleased. I said I was already on my way and that I should make it just before or at their 6:00 pm closing. I was turning into the parking lot at 5:59 pm so I thought I'd call just to let them know I was literally parking my car. No answer. I get it. 6:00 pm. Closing time. I approach the door at 6:01 pm. Gave a brief tap on the door. Three employees inside. One gave me 'WE ARE CLOSED!' look with accompanying hand gestures, etc. Yep...I know..I was 1 minute late. Were they wrong? No. Was I frustrated? Yes. Will I go back? No. What did I do? As the same three guys walked by me in front of the store...not a word. I felt invisible. So I simply went to the Amazon app on my phone and ordered the same bulbs. They will be delivered tomorrow. So much for me trying to trade with this particular local business. The overall attitude/experience sucked. A simple 'Hey sir, I'm sorry... not able to do.' or friendly acknowledgment would have sent me off with no negative vibes and a desire to return. Cool store but very expensive. You can get the exact same products online for much, much cheaper (try 1000bulbs.com). Expect a 30% - 50% mark-up if you buy from Light Bulbs Unlimited even though nearly all of the in-store products I looked at were made in China. They do also provide various electrical repairs for lamps but expect to pay $50 - $100 per lamp depending on what needs to be done. This is a good store only if: (1) you need bulbs right away and cannot wait for shipping; (2) you want to see the bulbs in person before ordering; or (3) you have lamps needing electrical repair. Otherwise, I see no advantage of buying from them in person. read more

I had a pair of lamps that I just upgraded and bought new shades for, then smart bulbs, and then one of them quit working. I called LBU to see if they could repair it and how much. I always prefer to support small local businesses over the bigger chains, but I will have a very hard time returning to this business because as others have noted, it's just SO much more expensive. I paid $70 for 4 lightbulbs that I could have paid $50 for at Ace Hardware (I should have looked that up beforehand, but they're local and it was easy enough to just pop in)... I appreciate the help I received in picking out the bulbs, and the guy was pretty knowledgeable, but at the end of the day it's just buying some lightbulbs, and I would have happily paid $20 less. I wouldn't go back again for any standard old bulb purchase, but perhaps for a more specific or complex lighting need. :/ read more

I've always felt that the workers there are very nice and helpful. If I have a particular bulb that's unique I text them a picture and they tell me immediately if they have it or not the only problem is the parking. It's a very small lot with very little street parking, but other than that they have a multitude of inventory of different kinds of Light Bulbs and they're very nice to work with. read more

Lightbulbs Unlimited just completed a small residential job for me which entailed replacing fluorescent and under cabinet lighting with LEDs, and installing indirect LED lighting as high as 17 feet above my floor. Robert and his crew, Hector and Michael, were very helpful in recommending the correct fixtures, quickly submitting a cost estimate, and then reducing the price. I have been coming to the Beverly Blvd. store for over 20 years and usually love my experiences at this store. However, last week has changed my perspective forever. Robert, the manager was so abusive to me and cursed me. I was there on Thursday during the day and purchased almost $200 of goods. I came back 10 minutes before closing and he locked the door on my face and said store was closed and put his hand to signal me to leave. He was extremely rude. The following day I went back having to pay my handyman to now come two days in a row. When I walked in Robert was so rude and disrespectful to me, accusing me of kicking the door which I didn't do! And, told me he won't sell to me and called me a f**** bit** when I stuck up for myself. He also videotaped only the part where I talked back to him (erasing his behavior to me) and sent it to all the other stores. I called SM store to request a managers email and the employee told me he saw my video. This can't be legal. I am extremely upset any worker would treat a customer so poorly and Robert should be investigated. read more

The entire staff has been accommodating and extremely knowledgable in addressing the most remedial, obscure, and advanced technical questions. They've help us transform our outdoor living space into a Le Jardin oasis on time and well within budget. We simply could not have completed this project without the specialty products they carry and the added know how to pull it all together. I bought a chandelier from West Elm a month ago and it was sitting in my living room in the box taunting me. I finally decided to go to Light Bulbs Unlimited today to buy the light bulbs. I showed a picture of what I wanted and Luis showed me four different options and gave me his recommendation. He was so good to work with! I told him how I'd had my chandelier sitting there taunting me for so long and asked if they had an installation service. He gave me the brochure and also Hector's direct number. I finished purchasing my light bulbs (someone else who was courteous and lovely helped me check out) and called Hector to inquire about installation. I think Luis must have told them my distress over the chandelier and Luis offered to come by today for installation. Hector and Michael showed up and were so kind and helpful and moved furniture themselves to bring in the ladder for installation. Embarrassingly, I had lost the hardware the chandelier came with, but they had some extra hardware and resolved the issue for me. They did such a beautiful job and were just absolutely lovely to work with. I will certainly use their services again in the future. Also, parking is super easy at the store because if there is no parking, a valet attendant will park it for no charge. read more

I bought 2 things here. One, a disco lightbulb, was better than I could've imagined. Just screw it into a light fixture and it makes the entire room into a dance club! The other, a solar spot light, didn't work at all. I was not able to get there in time for their return policy, so I was not sure I'd be able to return it, but my money was refunded, no questions asked. 4 stars rather than 5 only because the owner told me he agreed that it was a bad product. I appreciated his candor greatly but I'm just not sure why it was being sold if that's the case. read more
