North Star does big, serious and complex designs and installations for large homes and estates. My home and my project were both modest (by comparison) and he never treated me or my project any differently. I was given a clear estimate for the work, including a detailed break down of cost, products, sub contract specialists, and full technical details - all of which were easy to comprehend and imo fairly priced for the value. In fact, Todd spent extra time with me discussing my current installation and sharing his knowledge and experience with my products and my curiosity about them --it was like talking shop with an ol' friend. I ended up delaying my project (for reasons) but my experience with Todd convinced me that the only person in the whole valley I'd trust to do my outdoor lighting projects with are North Star and Todd.

An Outstanding Experience!…read more We recently contracted with Todd Meyer at North Star Outdoor Lighting to completely redo our landscape lighting in the front and rear of our home in Scottsdale. From start to finish, we could not have been happier with Todd and his team. When he first came to our home, Todd outlined a very detailed plan for lighting that would accent our home and plants. Importantly, he did not recommend an excessive amount of lighting but gave us a plan that would illuminate the driveway and walking paths and enhance our landscaping and home. He helped us select the appropriate fixtures for our architecture and landscaping and gave us a very reasonable proposal. On the day of installation, Todd and his team arrived promptly and got to work, removing our old landscape lighting, and installing the new transformers, power lines and fixtures. In a day and a half, the project was completed. Todd and his team thoroughly cleaned up everywhere they had worked and then walked us through all they had done. Interestingly, it was early afternoon when they finished so we could not see the "finished project" until the lights turned on that evening. When the sun set, and the lights came on, it was a magical transformation of our property. It was a pleasure working with Todd and his team and we were delighted with the results. If you are considering outdoor lighting, we highly recommend Todd Meyer and North Star Outdoor Lighting.

I had new capacitor, new breakers, new switch, new pool timer, and had the pump tested to make sure it worked, by a pool store. Still wouldnt come on. People said it may be underground wiring, but I wasnt digging up my yard for nothing. Steve showed up and wasnt even scared if my big pitbull/mastiff mix or my big husky. He went straight to the pit like he knew him already with a "HEYYYYY!" Made my little so happy he was wagging his whole body. Haha! The husky sat and ate grass next to him while he worked on the electrical setup out back. He figured it out and even showed me the issue. No BS. Efficient. Dog-friendly, and a really cool dude. Worth the service fee just to verify what it was to ease my mind. We had an idea, but he solidified it 100% with no guesswork involved - after I threw a ton if new parts on the issue already. Hahaha! I should've called Simple Electric FIRST and saved myself a ton of time, money, pulling my pump apart, researching videos and driving all over town to buy crap to fix it. Threw a lotta money at it - and it was a WIRE the whole time. Hahahahaha! DUH!!!!

I'm not an expert regarding home construction, but you can tell when you watch someone performing a task if they're knowledgeable. Stephen obviously had a ton of experience and was very good the way he explained everything to me. I'm very please with the work.

Because of that great experience, I decided to hire them again to install permanent roof lights. They clearly use high-quality materials and have very professional installers. The individual I was dealing with was a bit inexperienced, so I confirmed with the manager before purchasing. Two hour later I returned with the purchase, two full cases and one half case because they sold me the wrong thing. I told them I wanted to return them then, and I was informed of the 30% restocking fee. Mind you, it was 2 hours later and they sold me the wrong items. When I asked where the policy was posted they pointed me to a small sign in front of the counter, 3 feet from where you purchase the items. The sign should be in direct view. They then proceeded to try and sell me another $11/unit item (an additional $122 + tax to be able to use what they sold me, but they couldn't tell me with certainty that they would work Two weeks later I met with an electrician who shared their experience with this company and that they don't do business with them any longer. That was enough for me to hear. So, I returned the items, took my lumps, told them they lost a customer, and here I am leaving this review. I'm an advocate for supporting the the small business owner, but not this business. ZERO STARS.
