They helped me out while I was here on vacation. No charge to have my car looked and evaluated after I ran over a part from a boat (it fell off in front of me while driving down the highway). My mind was put to ease with the evaluation, which was greater than I expected -- truly surprised me with the thoroughness. They gave an honest appraisal of all the things my car needed, including a mindfulness towards the oil, and new front tires (which I clearly needed before running anything over), and assured me I was good for the return trip home without any immediate repairs or parts done in their shop. This place is the best garage I've ever dealt with. I wish they had another location where I lived. I was in vacation from VT and my gas tank strap broke, dropping it to the tank to the ground and ripping the fill hose apart. We had it towed to lighthouse earlier in the week. They knew we were only here for a week in vacation and worked on it as soon as possible. The parts were supposed to arrive on Friday, but the delivery guy never showed up. Lighthouse tracked down the shipment and worked late to pick it up. They even showed up Saturday to finish it up for us (they normally are not open Saturdays). They went above and beyond to help us get home & were very polite and accommodating over the phone. They even called up Saturday afternoon to make sure I picked up the truck okay and everything. read more

They were not transparent about their mistake of not ordering the parts. The idea that I had an early morning appointment(4th) and not to receive a answer on the problem until late in the day is unfortunate. That meant the car would not be ready that day(replace 2 radiator hoses about a 40min job) Then not to order the hoses and if I had not called to ask..... I told them to give me my car back. So they charged me $175.00 for about 20 mins of looking and 2 pictures that did not even show the so called problem! No apology but they were very dismissive of me, I guess that for not being a local even thought I have been down here for 65 years! I have been monitoring the so called problem and it doesn't even seem to be that bad. So the question is did the work need to be done or maybe a just a new hose clamp! Hmmm will not be visiting them again. and will paste this on Google maps for the next person who might be in trouble! read more

I had a terrible experience. I brought my BMW for a simple oil change and tire rotation. The day after I picked it up the following error lights appeared on my dashboard: ABS, parking brake light on (without the parking brake being used), chassis stablization:drive moderately, drivertrain malf:drive moderately. The brakes were very grippy. When I immediatelty called I was told that's "unheard of" (no apology or bring it in ASAP instead I had to wait annother week, driving it in this condition, for a second appointment that took all day). Those error lights were intermittently on and off during that week before my second appointment, which I made sure to mention. I called at 3pm to check on the status of my car (bc no one called me with an update) and was told the error codes had been cleared and that they "can't fix what isn't broken". I have photos of the error messages which I offered to send - I was told there was no need. That was yesterday. TODAY I have a new error message - that my right turn indicator is malfunctioning. I'm at a loss. This has been a nightmare, exaserbated by the person I've spoken to who questions what I'm saying. I always support local businesses and would appreciate some support back. read more

My Dad needed tires, an oil change and inspection. Yes he is getting up there in years, but I wasn't too concerned. This is something he could take care of- I thought. Imagine my surprise when he called me in a panic because Pughs and the other place refused to help him. This isn't happening I thought. Put in for a vacation day and drove up from Myrtle to help him. This is where we went and this is where I told him to go from now on. No hassle, no fuss, people treated him like he was a person who mattered- not like the other places. Can you imagine having to drive 5 to 6 hours because your Dad can't get tires and an oil change? If only he had gone here first.
