45-min wait, no problem, if this place is as good as I am reading, I do not mind the wait. Well, it truly was. I ordered the turkey benedict with the granola whole wheat pancakes. I was waiting for the regular cold cut turkey, oh no sir, not here. Tender, juicy, big pieces of turkey breast, oh yeah, so filling. The hollandaise sauce was perfect, not too overwhelming. I opted for the english muffin rather than the croissant and the bread was soaked with that yummy sauce, it was so goooodddd.... Lets discuss pancakes, whole wheat? ok, maybe they are just ok, was I wrong. This did not taste whole wheat at all, it was so rich, with big chunks of granola and the bananas on top were so sweet. Their service was great, I love the fact that they cater to the tourist but also to their locals, a nice little old couple that I can only assume goes there often did not wait and I am not mad at all, it is definitely a great business with great customer service. Had breakfast there today we lucked out and pretty much walked right in ,there was a steady flow of people going in and out so no one waited long . The wait for our food was no more than five minutes and it was very good . My only complaint if I have to have one is it wasn't actually at the light house it's was a little bit away and had no water view. Visited lighthouse cafe after running by it several days in a row and smelling it's delicious aromas. Man, did it live up to the hype! This small cafe is located just about .5 miles down the road from the Sanibel Island Lighthouse, making it a perfect place to grab breakfast either before or after a nice walk around the lighthouse. It is popular and busy and doesn't take reservations, but I put our name in and only waited ten minutes for a table on a weekend morning. The atmosphere is very casual, with cool photos of different lighthouses all over the walls. I could've spent a while just looking at all the different lighthouses in our country - so cool! The host and servers are quick and friendly. The menu has your typical sweet and savory breakfast options. We loved the chocolate chip pancakes and the eggs benedict. Despite a busy restaurant, our food was served quickly and was fresh and hot. Will definitely return on our next trip to Sanibel! read more

Friendly staff and excellent service. We came for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Wait was not too bad, maybe 30 minutes. We got lucky because as it got later in the morning, the wait time increased to about an hour. The food was yummy. I absolutely love the Lighthouse Cafe. Year after year, it never disappoints. This year was no different. I got the eggs Benedict (lighthouse style) with tomatoes, and it. was. phenomenal. Two others at my table got the eggs Benedict as well (one lighthouse style and one regular), and they both thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. One of their breakfast specials were malted pistachio pancakes, which my friend thought were just okay (a little too sweet), but the portion was HUGE. The real MVP of the meal is their homemade strawberry preserves, which are simply amazing. I ended up purchasing a few jars to go just so I could eat it all year round. 100% recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed this cafe for breakfast within a bike ride from our condo. We had a table for 4 and ordered French toast, omelet, and the daily scramble. The nostalgia of the lighthouse Cafe is what brings us back every time we visit Sanibel. It's not a very big place but they serve a lot of locals. It is an old fashioned looking diner type place. The service is always fast and friendly. The menu has grown over the years since we first started coming in the early 2000s. We have only ever eaten breakfast here but it never disappoints. I tried their blueberry pancakes because they were rated in the top 10.... Plump and very juicy blueberries fill these fluffy pancakes. The bacon is fried perfectly. They're omelets are always fluffy and freshly fried. The banana bread french toast was absolutely incredible. Often times there is a wait to get a table but it is very well worth it. The best place for breakfast on the island. Anytime we visit this area of Florida we always make it a point to drive onto Sanibel Island just to visit the lighthouse restaurant. read more

I recommend ordering a side of fresh fruit with any breakfast. If you go early in the day and during the week, you'll be able to get a table quickly. This place is super popular and gets crowded. Although the breakfast is very good, they advertise it as "Home of the THE WORLD'S BEST BREAKFAST" and I am sorry to state that this is false. Don't get me wrong as I enjoyed my meal, but it is pretty standard and slightly above average, but a disappointment if you have to wait more than an hour. The morning I was there the ran out of fresh squeezed orange juice. I had the Malted Hot Cakes (3 for $7.25) that is made with malted waffle flour and it was very good. the bacon was good. If you want real maple syrup you have to buy a bottle for around $3-4 and it is large enough for 4 people, so if you only need it for one, you will be taking it home. If it is not crowded, give it a whirl, but if the line is long, it really is not worth the wait. read more

The Lighthouse Cafe was written up in a recent Wall Street Journal article on "Old Florida" locations so we had to check it out on our annual pilgrimage to the Fort Myers area. We weren't disappointed by the food although the hostess could have been friendlier. My wife had the banana nut french toast which wasn't on special that day but our accommodating waitress checked with the kitchen and they had the ingredients to make it. We read other reviews which suggested getting the real maple syrup for an additional charge and it was worth it for the taste and the fact that you could bring home the leftover syrup. I had the Seafood Benedict (yes, with the fake krab) and it, too, was excellent with plenty leftover for breakfast the next morning. The Lighthouse will be a regular stop on future trips. read more
