We came for lunch just before any rush. We were seated right away. I was happy to see that they're "back" and reopened. We came here many years ago and enjoyed their food. The place is casual, rustic, and come as you are. Got our drinks pdq. We decided to share a combo pot. But after some soup. Got the conch chowder. It came in a large, pretty plastic conch "shell". It was slightly spicy, but not much. In fact, there's hot sauces on the table if you need more heat. There was a nice amount of ground conch pieces in a tasty tomato based broth. It was big enough to share, btw. Then we got their combo steamed pot -- 1 dozen clams and 1 dozen oysters. This takes awhile to cook as we knew it would. So if you get one of these, order soup or an app while you're waiting. The clams are the cedar key ones. Small but tasty. We didn't use the melted butter, but asked for cocktail sauce instead. The oysters -- which you have to shuck with the provided knives -- were wonderful! I'd probably get all oysters next time. In the bottom of the pot are celery and onions which you can also eat. So glad we got to come here and enjoy lunch. We will be back next time on island.

So Glad to see that the Lazy Flamingo has survived and still putting out great food! We ordered a bucket of steamed Oysters and Clams. This was agood choice and we enjoyed every one.

    Sandy clams

Up until now, I've always been satisfied with this restaurant, Bookelia Lazy Flamingo, but during our meal last dinner, my wife ordered clams in marinara sauce. After bringing us our meals, the waitress came over to ask "how everything was going". My wife, who had the unpleasant surprise of finding a clam full of sand (see attached photo), said she was disappointed by the sandy clam. The waitress then asked her, "Do the others have sand in them too?" The meal had just begun; my wife had no way of knowing. We weren't asked any further questions except for the check at the end of the meal. I am extremely disappointed by this attitude, as it would have been appropriate to at least offer a new meal or come back to check how the rest of the meal was going. The taste of sand is still on our minds!!! Elisabeth and Patrice

Not a bad wait at all on a Saturday night with a party of six...good solid food. Fried pickles, frickles, were good. Oysters outstanding! My catch of the day fish sandwich was good and nice that I could substitute a Caesar instead of having to have the fries. My husband loved his shrimp scampi, and daughter enjoyed her ribs. They were great with kids too! Bar atmosphere with lots of screens.

Menu increase! From one month ago. Conch fritters from $9.99 to $12.99, bread from $4.99 to $6.99, etc

Went on a Thursday night, took long to get seated. Not too many servers and also parties just sit at their table after they're done. Food is fine. Garlic bread is good but small. The fried shrimp was good quantity but the breading should be different, crispier. This breading is more like a tempura. Kids pasta was good and the burger meal as well. Probably the most affordable restaurant on the island. We had seen the menu from the month before so we were surprised at the 30% increase in some of the items.

Midwest style deep fried pork tenderloin. Excellent!

Love this place and we've been a few times. The food is always fresh and delicious. They have a full bar and the prices are reasonable. They specialize in seafood but I tried the deep fried pork tenderloin. I'm from Indiana and know my tenderloins. This one is smaller in size but the flavor and texture is spot on. Highly recommend!

As longtime Sanibel regulars, we have a short list of must-stops, and Lazy Flamingo is always on it. The moment you walk through the door, it flips you straight into island mode--casual, comfortable, and exactly what you want on vacation. Hard to believe they only reopened a few months ago after Hurricane Ian. The timing of our trip couldn't have been better. Call us creatures of habit, but we keep coming back for the same two things: the wings and the peel-and-eat shrimp. In our opinion, the best on the island. The menu has plenty of other great options--fish tacos, oysters, you name it--but we stick with what we love. Friendly servers, quick service, fair prices...it all makes Lazy Flamingo an easy choice. And showing up in the off-season? Even better. No line, no wait, just good food and that laid-back Sanibel vibe.

Swordfish on a VERY fresh and yummy salad.

We sat at bar and were greeted by the BEST server Michelle. She was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and hard working. She had great recommendations. My husband got the wings. He said they were the best wings he's ever had. She said that they are fresh and not frozen. I had the calamari. The marinara was delicious and the calamari was tender and amazing. I ordered the grilled grouper on a salad. The grouper was perfect and the salad was super fresh. My Husband order the special-swordfish on a salad. It was great. We WILL come back.

Fun spot for a lunch! Servers and friendly and our food came out very fast! Everything was delicious and we portions are nice size. Their fries are yummy! Fried grouper was good, moist and flaky inside not too fishy although batter was a bit thick but over all it was very tasty.

    Blackened Red Fish

We came here twice for dinner--once was an excellent, 5-star experience. Got this huge piece of Red Fish that I asked for blackened and it was just about perfect. Excellent service, this woman worked really hard to make us happy. Seating is pretty poor, cheap tables too close together in a dark dining room, but it was a great experience overall, largely because of that server. Came again for dinner because my husband wanted some of that Red Fish. He got that and I got some peel and eat shrimp because I wasn't overly hungry. Lots of well-seasoned shrimp. Nothing special but good. However: Service was terrible. This young guy couldn't have cared less about us. It was hot and he wouldn't bring refills, just ignored us. Nothing about that meal was fun. And to make it worse, we were stuck next to a table full of misbehaving children. And again, tables are crammed together inside. If it hadn't been so hot I would have chosen to be on their patio, although that wasn't exactly inviting as it is almost part of the parking lot. So, that experience was a 2-star at best. Overall a 3.5.

Always been one of our favorite places on the island and due to the hurricane it was still closed last year. Needless to say we were so happy to find it open in 2025. The island is still recovering so less people here than before so they are open for linch until 4 pm and only on Thursday -Saturday are they open till 8 pm. I'm sure but next year it will be back to normal schedule. As to food service etc. all the same it's always been excellent . My prior review stands. I love this island and this place is part of that.

Excellent oysters. Fresh and sweet and briney.

It is without question a must do, when you're here. My family and I have been coming here for many years, and it only has gotten better each time. This location has two floors of seating, more importantly two bars you can sit at. After checking in with the hostess, our wait was only about twenty minutes. Once seated at our table all of us were ready to order. For drinks we ordered two rounds I got the Dark and Stormy for both rounds(Gosling's Black Seal Rum mixed with Gosling's Ginger Beer & a squeeze of lime) my ordered a mango and coconut mojito; my sister in law ordered a rum runner. We all loved our drinks. Drinks here are always made perfect. For an appetizer we shared the calamari. The breading was light and the calamari was tender. For entrees my sister in law and I ordered the Deep Water Mahi Mahi(Hand-cut mahi-mahi seared in sweet soy sauce, placed on a jasmine rice stir fry with a tropical vinaigrette) This dish is my favorite meal here. The mahi was tender, the sweet soy sauce and the tropical vinaigrette ties everything together. My wife ordered the Yucatan Shrimp with a side of jalapeño cheese grits. She gave me two thumbs up. My father in law Grouper Sandwich (Fresh grouper grilled, blackened, or fried. Served with Doc's tartar sauce on a freshly baked roll) He ordered his fried. He loves the grouper sandwich here and usually gets it. Again, this is another place we will always comeback to.

There's numerous tv screens to watch all the games - some booths even have their own screen. Aside from the sports decor, The Sanibel Grill has a very similar menu to Timbers Restaurant next door - I'm pretty sure the two are one and the same and share the same kitchen. I ordered the Grouper Fish tacos. You can get them blackened, fried, or grilled. I opted for fried. Note that the Sanibel Grill is known for their signature cornflake crunchy batter - but the grouper fish tacos are the lightly breaded bites and not cooked in their signature batter. The grouper was nicely cooked - tender and delicate bites. They used corn tortillas, which didn't fall to pieces while eating, but they were pretty flimsy (it was easy for a grouper bite to roll out). The tacos are served with rice pilaf topped with black beans which was on the bland side (nothing to write home about). I would've liked a hit of lime to add to my tacos, but the waitress never came back to check on us. Service is minimal. This is bar service all around. My friend ordered the combo basket (Grouper and fried shrimp) and comes with a side of fries and cole slaw. You can hear the crunch - I can see why it's their signature. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi with rice pilaf (she was hoping for pasta but that was not a side option - it's either rice pilaf or potatoes - smashed, French fried, or sweet potato fries). It also came with fresh green beans. The shrimp were nicely cooked and super buttery. She also ordered the crab bisque which was creamy and had good crab flavor, but I wouldn't say it was overloaded with crab meat. We finished the meal with a slice of Florida's signature key lime pie. The slice was small but had giant key lime flavor. It was very sweet but this was my favorite key lime pie slice from our whole trip. The Sanibel Grill gave us average food and average service. No military discount here.

As an added bonus Island Time/tiki bar is located right on Sanibel Inn's property. Another great part is that you don't have to be a hotel guest to enjoy Island T. because it's open to the public and it's by the pool making it easy to stop for lunch+cocktails without missing any pool time. Hubs and I stopped in twice during our four-night stay and ordered salads, fish tacos and plenty of drinks. While there are tables available, the bar is definitely the place to sit- especially because there are fans keeping you sort of cool and those fans don't reach the tables. The staff is friendly and the GM, Jaycell (?) runs this bar like a pro. She made my first 'Rum Runner' with strength. My second one, on a different day was watered down and tasted like juice than a cocktail. The food was another letdown. Hubs' fish tacos were loaded with veg and not enough protein. And for the price of those tacos, you expect better. Island Time gets major points for convenience, but quality is where it misses the mark.

However, they always struggle with service and inventory. We were here for over two weeks and they were out of Grand Marnier the entire time. at one point, one of the servers told me that they probably were never gonna get Grand Marnier in again because they were taking their Grand- Margarita )that has a grand floater) off the menu. I've worked in and patronized many bars over the years and Grand Manier is a standard alcohol to carry. So whether one specialty drink includes it or not., It should still be in the bar inventory. One of the specialty beers they carry was out for two weeks. At one point, the only tequila they had was 1800 coconut tequila. With the multitude of liquor stores on the island and the two grocery stores, with that at the very least they could pick something up on island, or have somebody grab something in Fort Myers on their way in to work. Two different times servers told us they were sorry that everything was so slow, they were slammed and out of many ingredients. If only their tiki bar was part of the Sanibel Inn that had no vacancy during those two weeks?!?!? it's like they had no idea that there would be lots of visitors during the holidays. And I know for a fact that the Sanibel Chamber of Commerce shares occupancy numbers with the local businesses so they can be prepared. But unfortunately, like many other businesses on Sanibel, they did not use this information to prepare themselves and sadly lost out on a lot of business.
