Just out for a ride & came across this place. What a find!!! Got there right before they closed - cafe was closed -bummer!! I bought a loaf of their seeded sourdough - they sliced it for me. It is just delicious....I'm just eating the whole loaf!! I'm going to go back and buy more loaves to stick in the freezer! The menu looked really good - the soup yesterday was carrot/ginger. YUM. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. !!!! My husband, the carnivore, after reading the menu said, "they have Nothing to eat here"...He got his hopes up when he saw the Ruben sandwich but then he saw that it was "vegetarian". Me, laughing..."Nothing to Eat?", I say....REALLY??? I saw PLENTY to eat...after he got over his initial shock about no beef on the premises he ventured out and ordered the Quesadilla. We were very hungry so we ate our dessert, a wonderful rasperberry cheesecake (we shared it!) as an appetizer. (Fitting for my philosophy..."Life's Short, Eat Dessert First"!) I ordered the Asian salad with a Ruben sandwich. AMAZING....probably THE best Ruben I have had....meat or no meat! My husband, the carnivore, was amazed too at how good everything was. The sandwiches are heavenly - especially the portabello mushroom which is my favorite. Every order has such a beautiful presentation. It does not matter how busy they are. Each order is served with perfection. There is no bread like this anywhere else that I have ever had. And the baked goods - wow!! They are constantly trying new things and all are good. This restaurant I had heard about from friends. We were going there on last Saturday (7/14/19). We stopped in and spoke to an employee and asked if they could change gloves for my salad since I'm gluten free due to celiac. She was very nice and accommodating. On Saturday we arrived and I ordered a salad and asked them to change gloves. The rude man working the counter told me they didn't have time to change their gloves. When I told him we'd checked earlier in the week he just walked away. I didn't want to make a scene so I sat at the table while everyone else had their lunch. I was so taken aback because he spent more time refusing than it would have taken to change gloves. Very very rude an astonishingly unprofessional!!! read more

I went to the Lighthouse Cafe for the first time. My sister recommended it, so we had a girls day out. I was a little leery because they do not serve any type of meat. Much to my surprise, everything was delicious. I ordered the Powerhouse sandwich with Broccoli soup. The sandwich was one of the best I've eaten. The bread was lightly toasted with fresh veggies on the inside. The broccoli soup was so good, I ordered more. It was dark green, not pale as some restaurants serve it. The people who work there were friendly and everyone was attentive and helpful. The garden out back was an extra treat and we walked around in awe of the beautiful lush flowers and plants. Ladies' day out trip for bringing quilts to the fair and fabric shopping. Asked one of the quilt store ladies about getting lunch and she suggested the Lighthouse and gave us some sketchy directions of how to get there. We were wondering if we would ever find it or if we were on the wrong road when there it was. Tucked into a corner of cow country...a vegetarian restaurant. Who knew? Apparently lots of people! Beautiful area, great service, fantastic food. Every thing we ordered from the Chai tea to dessert was delicious, beautiful to look at and most of all good for us. Our party had Mushroom burger, Quesadilla special, Avocado Burger, Salad. Cheese Danish. Large servings of wonderful food. Had to take a loaf of their awesome bread home. We will be back. read more

Hands down the best restaurant around Roseburg! The food is consistently good. It's also one of the only health food restaurant options around here. Ingredients are super fresh and I'm not kidding when I say that everything is made with love. All the staff is incredibly friendly, and since they are all volunteers you know that the friendliness is very genuine. The restaurant is tucked away in the country, just out of town, with beautiful views all around it. On a sunny day I suggest eating in the garden. Gluten free bread and cookie options are delicious, which is a major plus because few places in Roseburg cater to gf needs. Their bread is baked on site, so if you reserve in advance you can take home a delicious gf loaf on Wednesdays. Highly recommended; you will not be disappointed! read more

Possibly the best place to eat in the county!! Douglas County has many a fast food or greasy spoon. This place is very original with many healthy options. The staff are friendly, the dining room is clean. The cuisine is more than reasonably priced, and the portions are more than adequate. Great bread. Lots of organic stuff. Restaurant is strictly non-meat which I have no interest in. We went for the bakery goods and were not disappointed. The bakery is in a gorgeous setting and there is patio seating. Don't take your dog, though. He/she can't even sit on the patio with you which, had we gone to eat, would have been a disappointment. Far and away the best food in the Roseburg area. There should not be such nice a staff, beautiful location, and great vegetarian food in the Roseburg area. Always packed even though there is no advertising. I see farmers and doctors eating the delicious homemade food side by side in this beautiful setting. It goes to show that a successful restaurant nourishes people heart and soul. I am hesitant to recommend Lighthouse bakery out of selfishness and of wanting to keep it my own private gem. The long lines in the middle of nowhere are proof that the creme always rises. Do yourself a favor, and find some good friends (or make some new ones) and eat here. CONS: ive been a vegetarian for 20 years and have never tasted a veggie burger so awful. Undercooked mushrooms and a morning star brand veggie patty(I know because they were a staple childhood dinner). Overpriced and disgusting. The potato side was burnt and bland PROS: The staff were nice and the place was clean(especially for the boonies of Oregon). Also the pastries and gelato(for being vegan) were quite tasty, if you decide to go, the carrot cake was the best menu item. I was staying in Roseburg visiting family and found that the veggie burger at Saluds in Roseburg was 1000 times better. This place seems suitable for a milk-toast from Oregon however, for someone raised in an urban area where the food/restaurant industry is diversified and highly competitive, this will not be a satisfying meal. . read more

I LOVE this restaurant and I go there often. I especially love the pizza and the next "pizza night" is October 22nd. I love the chia tea and the 7 grain bread - it seems to have about 50 grains! My husband and I have been buying their breads for years at the Farmer's Market in Roseburg (on Saturday) and you can buy it at the book store in Sutherlin or at the bookstore in Roseburg (while-a-way) or at Kruse's market off Garden Valley. If you do not like something...tell them...and they will make it right. You have to be "specific" and tell people what you want! It is their goal to give you the best. Check out the bulk items...have a sticky bun and ask for butter, it is my friend, Nathan's favorite treat and he said it is a bargain! So this places veggie patties are not morning star. I literally laughed at that review. Anyways I'm a vegetarian but not much into salad and there Asian salad was amazing. The soups are always fresh and flavorful. Someone really needs to tell people that you can't just park on the road. There are plenty of side spots and people still park sideways near the road. Fantastic business. I needed lunch for 20 in the rural Oregon. I thought I would have to bring it down from Portland, but a colleague suggested Lighthouse. They were wonderful to work with on the phone before the event (the manager, Michael, was super helpful). The food was ready on time the day of the event and it was DELICIOUS! Huge portions, too! Really, really good. I will be planning a Lighthouse stop for future road trips and we'll definitely use them again for future meetings. Highly recommend. read more

Not far off the I5 we had penciled this cafe in for lunch based on Yelp reviews. Well worth the extra few miles detour. Really brilliant -really brilliant.I had a pinto bean and coconut soup that was amazing, plus an Asian salad with mandarin segments, my husband had a veggie burger, and the kids various sandwiches plus we devoured carrot cake and cheesecake. Homemade bread, organic, local, non GMO, flavors and seasoning spot on -this cafe rocks. Prices were low too. Will always stop here if we drive this way again. read more
