2 Stars for convenience, 1 for removing Sunday brunch. Biggest mistake this community has made next to going drought tolerant on the latest hideous landscaping throughout the community. I would have preferred they implemented some new fees or regulations in regards to the bottomless champagne before removing this altogether. So many people have expressed how disappointed they are in their choice to remove this luxury. They should have sent a poll to the home owners/posted something in the Friday Flyer to gather real opinions or ideas and feedback before destroying one of the best things this community had to offer. It was a real pleasure to invite family and friends to partake in Sunday's here in the Lake for this regular event. Adjustments certainly could have been made to still be profitable and enjoyable. Huge disappointment and whomever made the final decisions should be removed from the POA. The new menu is mediocre at best and highly resembles Coco's diner menu. Needs MAJOR improvements. read more

Not bad, considering it was Mother's Day. CLL organized their meals into "seatings", ours starting at 11, the next at 2. This allowed for plenty of chit chat, champagne refills, second plates, nibbling, lots of good coffee, and time to find the wheelbarrow to exit stage left at the end of the engorgement session (moan). The meal was set up buffet style. Really not a huge buffet, but for the most part, decent: Salad, both a baby greens bowl, and a spinach bowl, and hot plates filled with sautéed red potatoes, fat herb-y sausages (really good), bacon jerky (meaning tough, glad it had great flavor), eggs benedict (definitely a fail), Grand Marnier chicken, sliced roast beef, salmon, a prime rib carving station, freshly made waffles with syrup or strawberries and whipped cream. The longest line patronized the Create Your Own Omelet station. I was not interested in having egg, but spotted a side table with a huge bowl of tender, cold shrimp and a delicious horseradish-y cocktail sauce. I should have just taken a shovel to that. The other cold seafood offered were raw oysters. Did not imbibe, but the general consensus at our table was, meh. There were also cheeses and crackers to fill the cracks. And then there was the dessert table. I only had eyes for their carrot cake, and it turns out I was on the path to become ecstatic. It was great. But there were many, many other cakes that looked just as fine. Our server was excellent. Loved her. However, the staff responsible for re-stocking and clean up could have done a better job. They let things run out, then made people wait. The cake area needed tending, because each cake slice was separated by paper, which was oftentimes trashed at the buffet table. Tacky. The other complaint I heard was that the prime rib, done to a magnificent rare/med rare, had a lot of gristle. It still had good flavor and the outside seasoning was good. Considering how crazy a holiday like this can be, they did a really good job. The food, overall, was good, and the AYCE and bottomless drinks were a plus. I would not hesitate to try this again. Tried this place again this past weekend because we haven't tried it since the new management. The food was terrible. I ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and there was absolutely no flavor. The sauce was incredibly soupy, and nothing like what I've ever experienced before. My husband had the calamari appetizer with his dinner - it was a very small portion for the price, and he said it tasted really fishy. He couldn't finish it because he was so grossed out. Our daughter had the kids chicken tenders and they were so dry, she could only eat one of them. The prices for the incredibly disappointing food is outrageous. If you're trying to make it more upscale (ambience, prices, etc.) you need to have upscale flavor. And please stop taking off the quick bites from the menu (sliders, burgers, club sandwich, etc.) these were things we loved to order in the summer during pool service, or when nothing else on the menu sounded appetizing. Will not be going back. The only reason I gave 1 star is because the wait service has improved. The host staff was horrific. Sat us without menus, and had to give another table a set of our silverware because their food arrived and they were short a set. Took forever to get our drink order, but then the service improved after that. Really wish we could have decent food here in the lake. read more

Well I guess I have super powers considering I'm invisible to every worker in this restaurant. I sat at the bar back stools. Then migrated to the bar to get noticed more. Took 30 mins to take an order from me and the Barback should be in the olympics of avoiding eye contact cause I was waving at this dude and he was DEAD SET on cleaning a smudge on a glass. There was 1 bartender a barback and servers that look so unorganized. I'm a bartender and that bar looks like a meltdown. Smh, I expected better read more

We moved to Canyon a little over a year ago and this is the first restaurant we went to. The food is good and the service is excellent. We tried a lot of others but the Lighthouse is our favorite. There is also a great atmosphere and very clean! Thanks Tom! Great job read more

Terrible!!! Worst food and way overpriced. Paid 35 with tip tonight on a tiny entree salad and two drinks. Dad got a pasta special and it was cold. I got short ribs last week and was throwing up two hours after I ate. Pizza is the only good thing. Good takes forever to get. Reservation at 6 and we didn't get our food until 730. The menu is also very small. Only drinks here from now on. Too bad, it's a great location. read more

We celebrated my other halfs birthday during brunch this weekend...just wanted to say they were amazing. They gave us a private room and doted on us the entire morning. Were Canadians visiting Menifee and looked up the lighthouse restaurant online. Its Sunday March 26th and happens to be my 70th birthday. Drove out there only to be told at the gatehouse that it's only for residents and their guests. We don't have a problem with that but it should be listed on the website to avoid wasting time driving out. read more

My husband and I have been a couple times and enjoy the food and beverages here. The last two times we've been there, there have only been a couple hardworking servers, covering the tables so be patient, expecting a decent wait. We go to the the lighthouse at least one e a week.. most times with a party of over 10 people. Tonight we showed up with a group of 25. After the football games are over I'm sure they cut their staff. We had ONE server Jarred. He killed it! The manager Tom is a true value to the lodge. We just moved to Canyon Lake and went to dinner at The Lighthouse restaurant at the lodge last night for the first time. We had dinner reservations and arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation time. We were seated quickly, long story short, we didn't receive our food until more than an hour and half after we were seated and when we received the food 4 out of the 6 meals were significantly overcooked and tasted less than satisfactory, even the salads were not good. When we asked for a heater we were told that one wasn't available, however we noticed 3 tables with 4 heaters and multiple single tables with 2 heaters. We ultimately asked if we could move a heater from an empty table to our area and we were told that if we wanted to move it ourselves that we could, so my son in law moved it and placed it so that it warmed our table and 2 other tables that were also without a heater and cold. The only saving grace for our close to $200.00 meal was the spectacular view that we were able to enjoy and the 2 and a half wonderful hours that we got to spend enjoying it with our family. My suggestion would be that they invest in more heaters and set them up so that they provide all tables with heat and that they reduce their food offerings on their menu and perfect their preparation on less dishes and thus serve better tasting food in a more timely fashion. Oh, and the mixed drinks were more mixer and not much alcohol, they even missed that mark. read more

My wife and I went back to give this place another try. We never made it past the bar. It took forever to get our drinks and the place was empty. Couples that came in after us and ordered after us got there drinks before us. When our drinks came they weren't even what we ordered I told the waitress you gave me the wrong drink. While visiting with family we dined here on Monday evening. We enjoyed a great view from a comfy booth. Our service was spectacular and friendly. We ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf, macadamia crusted Fish, and the tilapia entre with butternut risotto. My dinner salad came with a delicious balsamic dressing. We ate here about 2 weeks ago. I could not remember why it had been so long since the last trip here. As soon as I got served, I remembered. The Tri Tip was raw, just like before. I had to send it back. Wife's fish was soggy. As if it were reheated. Waiter tried, but was interrupted by other table telling jokes to him and drinking, so he politely listened. Need better training. We had to ask the bus person for help during the entire dinner and for the bill. Bad layout for a restaurant. They are remodeling, but focus will be on the bar. Too bad that the bar gets all of the attention. A lot of outside seating will be going to the bar as well. The food has always been overpriced or focused on a high end taste (but, I get better steaks (Filet Mignon) at Lonestar & Texas Roadhouse for less). The Lodge made a mild attempt at reasonable prices (2 for 20), but food suffers. No matter how much you spend, it is not quality food or service. How about just some good food, service and prices. It is not hard to do, but around here it seems nearly impossible. Norm's restaurants can do it. Most places in Canyon Lake seemed to be too focused on the bar. Even bar patrons deserve good food when they come in! I would frankly prefer Denny's instead of the Lodge. The Chef has been here before and came back, no improvement. We should consider getting someone that can run a nice family place. We are a family community, we do not want just a bar with bar specials. We deserve good food and service for our money and not have to drive to another city to get it or give our tax dollars somewhere else. Canyon Lake needs our business and taxes. We need better food and service here in Canyon Lake! read more

Anyway, we told our friends everything is good but we were so wrong. They bought the tri-tip it was cold, the fish was not hot and their baked potatoes were cold! Couldn't melt butter. I was so embarrassed recommending this place, I don't know what has changed but the last three Ted it was disappointing and each time was worse. This is a cool place to have drinks at night. You can go outside and overlook the lake. The bar has a fun atmosphere especially since the lodge is not accessible to people outside of the Canyon Lake gate which seems to make everyone more personable. The food is good and isn't too pricey. We have never been disappointed by the service and staff. This is a great place to host an event as they have a large ballroom. The facility itself is beautiful. From the tile floor, to the unique stairway, to the restrooms. If your looking for a visually comfortable place this will satisfy your hunger. read more
