Tacos & Tequila has THE best salsa and chips! My husband and I are absolutely obsessed with their salsa. Not to mention, the food and drinks are delicious! I've been here a few times, so I felt it was finally time to leave an honest review. The customer service is honestly some of the best I've experienced. I recently needed a restaurant to accommodate a large party last minute for my daughter's birthday dinner, and they were so willing to help and had the best attitude throughout the entire process. My family and friends who joined us agreed that the customer service was exceptional! I've tried several dishes here, and I can honestly say the food is fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Taco Tuesday?? Say less! Tacos & Tequila is a great spot for a chill time with a fun atmosphere. They have so many options on the menu that it's honestly hard to choose. Their taco happy hour is where it's at, in my opinion good portions and solid flavor. That said, they could use a bit more of a "wow" factor to really stand out. One standout, though, was their camarones a la diablo absolutely delicious with a smoky, spicy flavor. I've never had them prepared like this before; usually it's just pure heat, but this had a depth that really elevated the dish! Our bartender/server was great very attentive throughout our visit, which definitely elevated the experience. The chips and salsa were a highlight! Both salsas were flavorful and definitely a hit. The michelada could use a bit more seasoning and personality. As for drinks, the Tamarindo margarita was tasty, but it felt a bit light on the alcohol or maybe just very well masked. Not that I was looking for something super strong, but a little more presence would have been nice (and I'm a lightweight, so that says something!). Parking is easy with plenty of space available. She was incredibly attentive, provided great recommendations, and even acted as our photographer between course, she is amazing! The food recommendations were spot on. I tried my friend's octopus tacos for the first time; they were very tender, though a little salty for my taste. The ribeye guacamole was delicious and refreshing, and the ribeye appetizer was really good, seasoned to perfection and juicy. The carne asada tacos were also very tasty. From the bar we ordered Lalo shots, & the cucumber margarita which was my favorite, as it was perfectly refreshing. I was not personally a fan of the black widow margarita. It's supposed to be a top seller, not my preference. The ambiance was cool, and the music really added to the vibe. Dined in for Two, we ordered: Rolled Taquitos, Carne Asada Quesadilla, and a Bean, Cheese and Rice Burrito (ordered off the menu). And two soft drinks. First off, I really don't understand all the great reviews about his place, they're the reason we visited. The Hostess was awkward and visibly upset when we asked for a booth when she suggested we eat next to a hot window. We were sat at a booth right next to the unisex bathroom and kept getting gusts of stinky poop smell. The ambience is very annoying, it seems as if they are confused about what kind of restaurant they want to be. Is it a Sports Bar? Fancy Mexican Restaurant? Night Club? The menu makes you believe it's a Fancy Mexican Restaurant, all the while the tv's by the bar play sports games and loud annoying music over the sound system makes you believe it's a Sports Bar/Night club. Now the food...the food is awful. The end. (Well, what we ordered anyway) But more specifically, imagine the worst Mexican fast food served on a fancy plate... Soft Drink 1 $5: Sprite: Good Soft Drink 2 $5: Coke: Bad (too syrupy and flat) Bean, Cheese and Rice Burrito $16: Beans tasted old and burnt, rice tasted old and stale (possibly microwaved). The only decent thing was the tortilla. Carne Asada Quesadilla $18: The Meat tasted dry and old, hardly any cheese and tortilla was dry. Rolled Taquitos $15: The only kind of edible dish that was served, still not very good, We were expecting something much different from the original title and description. Taquitos are small, chicken tasted old and the sauce was just canned enchilada sauce. This dish should be called "Mini Taquitos Enchiladas"(to be nice) or "Taquitos Abominación" (to be honest) Seems like they just plated them very nicely as to cover up the mediocre taste. One positive is that the service was amazing, our server (Angelina) was very attentive and friendly. The food came out quick, which in this case, wasn't a good thing. We did mention to our server that the food "wasn't very good" she said we "should've said something earlier" (not sure what that meant) but we still decided to pay the full amount. I wish they could've accommodated a refund or percentage off the check or something. The total amount for everything including Taxes & Tip was $74.77. Very over priced especially for what we've experienced and ultimately not worth it. We will not be returning to this place. It's a shame we hardly finished our plates (we were hungry mind you) except for the taquitos which were somewhat the only edible thing on the table besides the chips, both of which still being not good, including the salsas that were provided. I'm hoping they do some quality control on every item on the menu, They truly need it. You should be ashamed, Tacos & Tequila. P.S. And to top it all off, we both are experiencing stomach issues after consuming their food, I'd say stay away from this place. And for the love of God don't trust the rave reviews!! read more

FOOD POISONING... I've been here 3 times, and each time there was conflict in the restaurant.. my table never involved but just a tense atmosphere and bad customer service. This last time I went on Sunday, and it'll be my last time. We ordered fish tacos and ceviche, ate around 4pm.. I woke up at midnight throwing up from food poisoning. I had noticed a green mold looking area on my tortilla but ignored it cause I was hungry. I don't think it was the tortilla that made me sick, I think the ceviche was bad. The ceviche tasted off and wasn't "cold"... Aside from the food poisoning, my honest review is this place isn't authentic Mexican, they don't bring out the proper sauces with mariscos.. and the "spiciest" salsa isn't spicy. And the customer service is lacking. Servers take their time with request, and their is a lack of team effort on the floor. I asked a hostess for salsa, and she said "I'll let your server know", server didn't come back until after 10 mins later. That's 10 minutes my food is sitting while waiting for salsa.. We paid $95 for one appetizer, one plate of tacos, and TWO margaritas. High price for bad quality and slow service. Wish this restaurant the best and hope they can improve. read more

Our meals were $21 for a large plate...so $17 for a small glass margarita?! Yes, it was a juice size glass NOT a typical Margaritas-size glass. So, my meal with 2 drinks came to $67.96. PRETTY STEEP. Been here a handful of times and happy it's down the street. I want to try different dishes because everything on their menu looks so good. This review will cover the multiple times we've been here. Service is always friendly. I love their steak and eggs breakfast. The meat portion is big and I usually have leftovers. I love their rice and beans. I love their taco de camaron enchilado because it has the perfect crispy tortilla and dipped in the yummy spicy sauce and onions. Can't go wrong with their beef enchiladas - I would get this every time but I told myself I want to try everything. I've tried their taco trio and didn't love the adobada. The meat was doused with that seemed like canned sauce. The other only things I don't really like are their black water cups and their salsa isn't chunky. I asked for diced onions to be put in it or on the side but didn't get them. Chips were stale last night, but oh well. Everything else makes up for it. I get that I won't love everything on their menu, but at least I'll be able to recommend things to friends and family when we take them here. California burrito....The french fries were mushy. They taste like more like mashed potatoes and the tortilla felt raw like it should've been grilled up a little bit. It literally felt like I was eating a mashed potato wrapped burrito. The Kearny Asada was no better. I don't know what to say. You guys used to be awesome. Some people doctored up a little more to get some good flavors but this one over here tasted like water. If they did add tequila, it was very little. The worst service I have ever experienced in my life. No greeting by hostess when we walked in. She couldn't even look up- we were right in front of her. After a couple of minutes, my friend caught her attention and had to ASK to be seated- this is the hostess btw. We still gave this place a chance and were seated. Majority of staff very young and inexperienced with serving/hospitality. My husband and I ordered their old fashioned that is marketed as "smoking". We were told they ran out of the wood. About 10 minutes later- the table next to us gets served with 4 old fashions with (you guessed it) the wood to smoke. We once again had to flag down the attention of our server to point out what happened- she then proceeds to say "Oh yeah my manager went to the store to grab more." My husband said ok can you make my wife a new one with the wood and comp since she didn't get the full experience but still charged full price. Server said ok. Fast forward to when the bill comes- we were charged for the drink with the wood chips. My husband called the server over to point out the discrepancy and she said "they are not allowed to comp drinks". We asked for the manager. This manager was so rude and approached very hostile with his arms crossed. When we told our story of what happened our server yelled out with attitude "I never told you the drink would be comped!" The manager did not try to amend a simple fix in my opinion by stating "the alcohol licensing agency does not allow them to comp drinks"- which is a blatant lie lol I have restaurant experience as a manager and family who own restaurants/bars so I know comped drinks has nothing to do with your liquor license. The manager offered to give us a free dessert but not a comped drink? Make it make sense. The manager also was raising his voice which caused a scene- very embarrassing. None of the staff had any remorse. Our table felt humiliated. You can tell this is a place that picks and chooses who they give attention/service to if you catch my drift. These plates were priced at $14 each, which I think is high for Taco Tue pricing.
