Recently my wife and I stopped with her friend before going to Albert Hall. The place was jammed and the staff were friendly. Service was a little slow, but they were packed. My wife and her friend loved their meals especially the raw bar. I had the fish and chips. It looked great when it came out with 3 large pieces of cod. The problem was it was not fried long enough. When you cut through the batter it was undercooked and pasty. I guess I should have said something, but I didn't. We are going back this Sat for another try and to see a Johnny Cash show called the Ring of Fire which looks good. I would give zero stars if it was an option. Our server was the worst. A grown woman who knows little about how to treat people. She was excruciating and should not have contact with people. She socialized with old crunchy male customers instead of actually working. Most of our visit we were ignored. If we needed another drink we had to go searching for staff. When we were ready to order food we waited about 15 minutes for the server to take our order and that was after we had to grab her attention. This was our first and our last time here. It is ignorant staff that this business employs. Ignorant in spades. Just a garbage attitude that so many of them have. I don't have much experience with the food here, but I can say the prime rib cooked medium-rare is very good! Standard bar food, including some pretty decent jalapeno poppers. I love this place for the entertainment! I was here two nights in a row one weekend with pretty good bands each night. The Bar a 4 star, the BAND IS 5 STARS. My husband and I actually went here to see this band, GUY SMILEY and would go to see them there again. They were AWESOME. They played everything from BonJovi to Ozzi. Loved them. The singer, Sal, actually walks around with his mic and sings, so cool. The whole band is different and outstanding. Living in this area there's not many options for a casual night out. Doyles is always a solid, but sometimes you want to experience something different. Which brings me here , to the Lighthouse Tavern in Waretown. We arrived around 5, and grabbed some seats at the bar. And then comes the waiting. We were instantly greeted by the busboy, which was nice... But it took 8 minutes to be acknowledged by a bartender. No eye contact , no hey I'll be with you in a second , both women were extremely rude and not attentive at all, to the point that we were ready to leave before we were even served. We each ordered a beer and a water. And then 15 minutes later asked again for a water. And then , after that , I was able to get the same attentive busboy to pour us water , followed by a snoody comment from the bartender " I was getting to that" ( mind you she had already poured and been sipping on her own water. ) Our friend ordered food, which he said was tasty but didn't have any utensils to use and once again we had to ask the bus boy. Not to say all things at the lighthouse are bad. Their food is always pretty decent , the busboy was friendly, and when the two guys coming in for the night shift came in , they were extremely friendly and attentive. I've been here a few times since they've changed it up and I have to say I like it. The redo of the environment is great. They fixed the bathrooms and they added light. I've had their regular salad which is huge and fresh. Their chili is thick and meaty. They serve that with jalapeños so you can make it as hot as you want. I've tried a few sandwiches as well and they were all good, especially compared to what they used to be. The pickle spears are crisp and crunchy. I even like their fries and I'm picky about fries. I usually sit at the bar and have never had bad service. The bartenders are quick to fill up your glass or recommend a drink or something different based on what you say you like. Lots of big TVs. I don't know where to begin. Dirty, food is awful. How do you screw up a bar pie? A soggy thin crust pizza with cheese not melted? Fries were obviously frozen, old and dry - not fried long enough to have any color. White tasteless fries. Low quality pale gray steaks. Had to ask for absolutely everything (water refills, more napkins, grated cheese, sugar for coffee, to go boxes, old plates to be cleared). Freezing cold with the house band opening the back door next to our table at least 15-25 times. LOUD lame music on the radio where you can't hold a conversation. I don't mean this in a judgy or snotty way but all the staff looks like they just rolled out of bed and don't appear professional. Avocado fries were gross. Shepherds pie looked awful. Red sauce? No straws. Dirty old cracked water glasses for everybody and not even a paper straw as an option. Hair on one of the dripping wet appetizer plates. Just a mess. Low quality. Low class. Holes in the ceiling tiles. Has a kids menu but to me this is a smelly bar with dirty tables and literally every chair was broken. Never again. Plenty to like about this place. The beer menu is what gets me out of my home, and this place has a pretty quality one. Something like 10 craft beers available, and of course your terrible regulars. Food was very good. I had a burger with bacon and bleu cheese on a hard roll that was quite tasty. Bread was solid but not too tough, bacon was good, cheese was very good. Waffle fries a tad greasy, but I think you expect that. Atmosphere very lively for a Friday night. TVs everywhere, probably an alright place to catch the game. My only beef was that the wait for food seemed like a long time, maybe 20-30 minutes for my burger, my wife's wrap, and a kids meal. The place doesn't seem big enough to need a wait that long, but I got time to enjoy my beer, so there's that. Try this place out, you can do worse. read more

This used to be one of my local go-to's back when the father owned it. Now the son has been running it for about 2 years and has run it into the ground. Service is some of the worst you'll find. Menu has changed drastically since it was good years ago. Now it's basically from the freezer to the fryer to your plate kinda stuff. Such a shame what's happened to the place. Used to have a huge local following with packed parking lots and waits for a table. Now most nights it looks abandoned. The owner should do the right thing and sell it to someone who cares. Horrible service!! We waited for almost an hour and a half and our dinner and was still not served. When we asked the waitress for status she had a flippant attitude. We finally said we couldn't wait any longer and instead of checking with the kitchen or calling over a manager she handed us the check for the drinks and appetizer we had. I went there for the first time. I got there around 4:00 on a Thursday afternoon. I had a drink or 2 and then the next shift showed up. I sat at the bar with an empty bottle in front of me for 37 minutes. There must have been 7-8 people behind that bar. The customers to my left and right got served. I sat there with an empty beer for 37 minutes. I decided to put my credit card on the bar to pay me bill. It took another 18 minutes before someone came over and took my card. Have frequented here many times since moving to the area. Drinks are always good and reasonably priced. We have NEVER had a bad meal here. Salads are huge and filling. Burgers are juicy, cooked perfectly and delicious. Potstickers are a hit as an appetizer. Tuesday nights they have karaoke and is always a good time. Some seriously good local talent (some also not so much) but it's all about having fun and a good time. Met the owner recently and he was very personable and takes pride in his family business. Found this place on whim - couldn't resist the sign outside saying "Sunday Fun Day". Walked in and immediately liked the feel - not you're typical dark bar. Lighthouse was clean, bright and welcoming. Our waitress, Colleen, was truly attentive, informative and engaging. The beer selection was great including craft beers. Being a local, we love finding new places (to us) to eat. We are so sick of the apple bees and local diners. We decided to come here after a Facebook ad believe it or not. The food was great, they had trivia going on which made it fun, the service was ok. To be fair it was completely packed and only one waitress. However even with her juggling about 12 tables we never went without a drink and didn't have to wait to long for her to bring out whatever we requested (extra napkins, utensils etc.) Overall very happy we found this little joint to hang at. Our family enjoyed dinner here:) I'm from out of town and was a little worried about local bar atmosphere since we were bringing our toddler. What a nice surprise! My in-law told us that there are ongoing updates to the establishment which seemed obvious to me. I felt that this could be a homey pub for sports fans (lots of TV's) and families. The ribs were excellent. My hamburger was huge and tasty! Service was very good as well We are definitely coming back... 4/5 was only due to ongoing updates. read more
