I'm going the review the process of communication AND the actual towing desperately. The communication... my husband called the Tesla roadside assistance number at 7a on a Saturday to get it towed. They connected him with C&R towing and told him eta was 1.5 hours. 2 hours later, my husband called the towing company and they said the driver would be there in 10mins. Another 15mins passed and no one showed up. My husband called to cancel the tow since the driver hadn't arrived and informed them he would call back after we came home from the family event. * We had to be at an event at 10a and had allocated 3 hours for the whole towing to America's tire company for drop off. Nope, that plan was foiled. The morning communication and extreme delay was very inconvenient. 2 stars for this. I understand if there is an urgent pick up or traffic delay (we live in L.A.) but no communications on the delay and us having to call in frequently for check in was very annoying. Was the man on the phone nice? Yes, polite but the lack of communication on change of eta was not cool. After we returned from the event, we called to report we would be back in 30-40mins. The man on the phone said he can either get someone to go in 30mins or original 1.5 hour eta. This time the communication was way better, he called us right back to let us know it'd be the longer eta. No problem. The driver was on time and efficient. Great service. Gentle with loading the vehicle on the flat bed, got all the tires secured and off they went. Less than 30mins of time. 5 stars for the service man! I don't know what happened in the AM but it was a completely different situation than the afternoon.

My vehicle drags and my tires and engine are wearing down! They forgot to replace one of my vents when they fixed the heater. They didn't give me a receipt. I had to make them give me my car back. They wanted more time because they had appointments they were giving priority. The owner just takes the money and hands the car to a mechanic. They don't communicate. The mechanic never knew what we were talking about. The owner would sit around drinking with his friends while saying he needed more time to work on my car. I hoped to fix it up and take it out traveling. I can't even travel locally. Long distance trips are out of the question. I'm so upset! Save yourself money and dead time! Don't do it! I finally saved money to take my car somewhere else and find out I've been driving around with no rear brakes. He says he wants his parts back if I want a partial refund. What parts? Give me MY parts. My truck had brakes when I took it in the first time. I have been coming to this shop ever since I bought my 2014 Honda Civic. He has been our family…read moremechanic for years and left all of our vehicles with issues that were not fixed . Carlos is friendly but I guess it's a distraction for the actual work being done . My Honda came with a lug knot key that he lost. After changing my tires a couple times they didn't use the same lug bolts or place back the lug knot bolts that originally cane with the vehicle . I got a flat tire shortly after and couldn't even place my spare on due to Carlos and his workers loosing the key to the lug knots . You are constantly left in the dark about repairs and consistently told there was no time to work on your vehicle as it was busy . When I pointed out that they lost my lug knot key that came with the vehicle they said they can take the bolts of with with a "master key", yet never offered to return or look for my luggage knot key they lost which also explains the random bolts found on my tires. They charge cheaper but maybe that's to overcompensate the bad communication and poor parts that don't last long . I went to jiffy lube for a oil change and they stated that my oil screw had been stripped from whoever did my last oil change , which made it difficult to do the job. Surprise surprise it was union 3 . I stated this to my mechanic , Carlos at the time, and he said they lied to get money out of me . So I end up doing my oil change with my friends sister who is a mechanic , she said "we need to change this screw due to it being stripped , if you leave it on like that it can ruin your whole oil chamber , which is a issue that goes far beyond an oil change. " so cool cool cool ... the workers have been stripping my oil screw every time I went to get an oil change . Mind you I went to auto zone where the oil screw was a simple 2.49 to fix , yet my own mechanic who's been doing my oil change couldn't do that for me. My brothers car is 2020 Kia Optima and he takes it to get an oil change practically every month almost . We asked why is his car wasting for much oil in such little time . Carlos response "Kia's and hunda are like that" . My brother took his car to the Kia dealership where they stated there was an issue with his oil consumption. There are far much more stories I can say but I think that explains my point . It's sad because my family and I truly did have a relationship with this mechanic and trusted him . Please don't make the same mistake we did and strive for your car to have better service and care with someone who can be transparent with you .

Like what many other reviews say, Universal Automotive is very reasonably priced and did not attempt to upsell me on anything nor did they try to rip me off. I requested them to do a full safety check on my 2012 Honda. There were no existing problems I could discern but it has been at least 3-4 years since I've had a comprehensive look at the vehicle and I wanted it checked out to be on the safe side. They changed the oil and some of the other fluids, advised I should get the shocks changed on the next visit but otherwise did not tack on anything else. My car drives great and was only charged $180. Had I attempted to have this done at a Honda dealer, it would been more than twice as much. This place doesn't look like much and a lot of their mechanics smoke (not in your car at least), but they seemed to do the job I asked without trying to cheat me and that's what counts. I'll be going back again.
