I scheduled a time for Guy to come by and provide an estimate for windows and doors. He called me at 3:50 pm, ten minutes before our appointment, and told me he couldn't make it. His son's coach had just scheduled their first little league practice. Hey, I totally understand and commend the guy for being there for his kid and I'd have rescheduled without complaint. Problem was, he said he'd just learned about the practice the night before. But for some reason instead of calling me in the morning to let me know he waited until just a few minutes before our 4 pm appointment and I'd already left work early and was at home waiting for him. This is a review for the Lighthouse Window installers, specifically Alfonso and Manuel. Alfonso arrived on time, and introduced the crew that would be installing windows for our entire house. The job was scheduled to last 2 days, but ended up lasting 3. Alfonso and Manuel returned on the third day to install the sliding doors. There were some major scuffs on the vinyl frame of one of the windows, a manufacturing issue, not a Lighthouse Window issue. Alfonso managed to repair the 10 or so scuffs in the vinyl frame. The trim work around the sliding door frames was spot on and Alfonso and Manuel stayed to complete the job. While there was some scheduling issues to deal with, the two installers came through and provided excellent customer service. read more

I needed to replace all the windows in my house and had a couple of bids done, then decided to go with Lighthouse Windows. I had read some of the negative reviews and was a little concerned but I am sure glad that I did go with these guys! I have been doing deep remodeling on my fixer upper for the last year and have worked with tons of contractors, etc and these guys were probably the cleanest installation and efficient with their work, I was very pleased! They got the job done in one day, were on time, and I am completely serious when I say that after replacing 11 windows, there wasn't a speck of dirt they left behind. The guys were also really polite and nice. So, I have looked at what some of the negative reviews are saying and I do agree that I had to follow up on some stuff that normally I would expect the company to do, but it was pretty minor and we live in Santa Cruz, this is a laid back beach community! I never got bothered by anything, I just followed up and they always came thru and they were always very nice. Lighthouse did a great job on our install of 4 windows to replace the original windows with failed seals and broken hardware. Gus patiently measured our windows, explained our options, accommodated our request (we didn't want vinyl) and their crew installed our windows and the result is super. We had our entire home windows replaced, 7 windows and 2 sliders. The job was done quickly and well. The owner, Guy, is really professional and has great customer service. They gave me a great price and did wonderful work. There was one small problem with the slider and the next day Guy was at my home to remedy it. They are an outstanding business. We got new windows, which work very well. We wish that they could have been a bit more careful installing them because there was a lot of work needed (sanding,painting and putty) after they were gone. One of the windows had a "ding" on it that could not be repaired. But the windows do make it quieter and warmer in our house. Service was appreciated with June, setting everything up. I ordered expensive windows for my entire house from Lighthouse. I paid a few thousand extra when told some needed new framing due to water damage. The work was not uniform, different workers framed differently. Their follow-up service for punch list items and warranty is TERRIBLE- very slow and unresponsive. Constant turnover and rude employees. They told me they have no record of my order which was placed just last year. The owner Brad is charming but BEWARE. read more

Lighthouse windows is the best. We just had all the windows in our house replaced there was as total of 21 large windows in our house. Lighthouse had the best pricing and they did a fantastic job my house looks fantastic because of them. When they were scheduled to come out and work they were on time and worked all day and cleaned up afterwards never leaving any messes behind. The work crew was amazing they did a great job with windows look so good and they made sure that the trim was done to perfection to match the windows. Well done, complete job of installing tile block window & front door, even though it did not go as planned. Opening up the wall for the tile window, unexpected wiring was found. The lighthouse guys notified us of the issue, waited for us to decide the next action & resumed the job without any complaint or extra cost. Now we are very happy with the finished project. After seeing so many bad reviews I was hesitant to contract this company, but after checking out their contractors license and the better business bureau, I decided that most likely they weren't good at Internet PR and gave them a try given their good prices. They delivered as promised (13 windows and 2 sliding doors). Great workmanship, on time, cleaned up pretty well. I would I given them 5 stars if they had gone beyond what's expected (like painting the trims, etc.). Overall, I think they are a great vendor and I will definitely use them again. read more

Horrible service. The guy I dealt with reeked of alcohol and was very obnoxious. I don't remember his name but he was a very loud, obese guy with short gray hair. Cannot recommend. Won't do business with a guy who reeks of alcohol in the morning and seemed to love listen to himself talk more than hearing my needs. read more

I like to shop "local" and support businesses near me, but my experience with Lighthouse Windows was very poor. I contacted the company to replace windows in the front of my house, which were in need of replacement. After Guy came out to bid my job, I had to pester the office to get the bid, which even when received was incomplete. I tried repeatedly (3 phone calls and 1 office visit) to get the completed bid. Even after multiple promises that the bid would be delivered to me, it never came. As I write this review it still has not arrived and it has been at least 8 weeks since Guy came to my house. I finally contacted another company. I was told by a competing company that I was probably ignored because they didn't want to do the job. I still don't understand if my job was too big, I wasn't just told that. Sadly, I will certainly let all my friends in family in Santa Cruz, not to use Lighthouse Windows. I don't know what has gone wrong with Lighthouse. For several years, we have been replacing (5 at a time) single-pane windows and sliders with vinyl, dual-pane windows and doors. The service was great, windows and doors are super. However, when one side of a French Door had the glass broken, I worked with my insurance company to get it replaced, stating I preferred to have Lighthouse do it. MY MISTAKE! Weeks and weeks have passed, no return phone calls, I am always calling to check status, like "where is my glass? When is it going to be installed?" etc. The answers range from waiting for the glass, to waiting for the scheduler, to waiting for something. Finally, I call and the glass is in, just waiting...waiting...waiting...for the scheduler to set up appt. Then, the next call I make, I get a "oops, wrong glass was sent". They never called me for any status. I just called and expressed my disappointment and heard, "sorry maam, sorry maam, " I cancelled and told them I would go somewhere else and all I got was another "sorry maam". I had 7 windows and 2 sliding glass doors replaced in my condo in March. They worked out a good scheduling date and installed the windows & doors in one day. The crew was polite, competent and cleaned up nicely. The installation looks great! The Milgard windows are excellent. I chose Lighthouse because I wanted one company to be responsible for the product and installation. This has been the case to date. Originally there was a cosmetic manufacturing flaw that Lighthouse didn't notice (though they were shipped wrapped in plastic and cardboard). They coordinated with Milgard and they corrected the issue. I have noticed my condo is quieter, cooler in summer and my heater coming on less in winter. I had a roof leak during the recent heavy rains and was concerned that a window was leaking as water came in around the frame. Lighthouse' crew came out, opened up the frame and confirmed to my satisfaction that the problem was not the window. The roof was since repaired and the leak stopped. I have been generally happy with Lighthouse and their staff. read more

Not a service oriented business. Just a sales oriented experience. Guy made promises that were not kept. I expected a complete job to be done. These were the issues left undone. Windows were not washed after installation. Trash was left around the house. Window jams and sills needed replacement to accommodate the new windows. I was under the impression that the windows would be complete as before. They were left unfinished and raw wood treatment is now going to cost me over $1,000. I spent over $13,000 on windows for an Aptos property and I expected Guy to keep his word about showing up to complete the project. 4 times installation was rescheduled. A wrong style window was installed in the bathroom. I paid in advance in full using credit cards so I would have a back-up if I needed it. Both Visa and MasterCard are behind me and they have made contact with Lighthouse Windows. After that call finally there was some resolution. read more
