Paul quoted me $400 and billed me for $560. I called around for quotes after getting brand new upholstery in my 2003 Chaparral. I told everyone I called the condition of the gel coat but that I don't need upholstery cleaning cause it was new. most people were in the $350-$600 range but Paul sounded like he was an honest guy, he proved me wrong. Before he showed up he said it would be about 5 hours, when he arrived he said it should be fine cause he wouldn't have to spend the time on the upholstery. halfway through he was complaining that it was harder than he thought. This is his "field of expertise" not mine. he said don't worry, we're gonna take care of you. At 12:45 he text me a bill for $560. $160 more than he quoted me and less than one and a half hours longer. After a bit of back and forth with the bait and switch I paid him. I felt like if I didn't pay him he was going to screw his helper who did most of the work. One thing I hate is dishonesty and greed. He saw an opportunity and instead of choosing a lifelong customer he chose $160. I hope you read this and choose another detailer. Plenty of people can detail, that's never the problem. I just want to start with the fact that I was very nervous about writing this review and have put this off for quite a while. That should be telling enough! If you notice on all his bad reviews, it is the customers fault. This is the same attitude he brings when doing the work. Several complaints I read were exactly the issues we had. Blaming us for not waxing....ok, my hubby takes responsibility for that, but we hired you to clean it as best as possible. He then proceeded to "lecture" to me about how terrible it was (see attached photos before we had it cleaned with inside photos as reference to how clean we keep it) and how we only hired him to clean the toy hauler but not wax it. Ok, that's fine, just clean it then! He actually kept complaining so much he made me cry! I paid him and told him to leave. But no, he had to complain to my husband as well! If you do use him, make sure to be VERY specific on what you need done as he will say "you didn't ask for it." Awnings -extra to open and clean, steps -extra to open up (3 outside steps), dirt marks -extra, roof -extra. Can I also say if he spent more time taking care of clients when hired he would spend less time typing out very long explanations as to why his customers are so disappointed in his service! Ok...I'm ready for the wrath and rebuttal from the owner to my complaints. PAUL: please don't act like this is a miscommunication with my husband and I...I hired you!!! I know what I wanted and what I asked for! Are you belittling me as a woman? I guess women don't know what they want. I hope people read your comments and can read through the excuses. Own your mistakes. Change and be better. Our toy hauler is is excellent condition but needed a detail to be sold. Awnings worked and there were not a splattering of bugs all over. You never asked us to open the awnings and when I asked if you cleaned them you said no. When I asked if you could clean them you said no because you had already started to dry. Here is some help: ask the clients if they want things cleaned that would require the owner to help. I would have gladly come out to roll them down for you. I was out several times offering drinks because it was a hot day. You had plenty of opportunities to ask. read more

I have absolutely no idea how anyone could give Paul a bad review. I've been fortunate to own a number of cars and toys throughout the years and never have I seen a better detail job. In fact, I'm not even sure I'd call it a "detail" because it's like he performed magic on my RV. Doesn't hurt that he was on time @ 6:30 a.m. and even sent a few reminders ahead of our appointment. A couple years ago I had Lightning Detail detail my car, and they just recently did a spectacular job on my auntie's 38' 5th wheel trailer. It is an older one, with lots of dullness and fading, and they not only got it to shine, but my auntie said it even sparkles like it did when it was new...and I agree! I used Paul / Lightning Detail to dial in my boat for the season (1978 Skipjack 24 FB). Man I couldn't be more impressed with him. In the past I have always done all my waxing however this year I can't, I am just way to busy with work. After getting a couple of good referrals on him from others I emailed him and he promptly gave me a call back within 20 minutes; this was at the beginning of the month. His first available appointment was today. (Thought damn, he is booked out a month, he must be good) He texted me last week to remind me of the appointment and then again yesterday to let me know he would be at my house at 6:30am. (+1 star on communication) So there I am outside all dressed ready to go to work and right on the dot of 6:30 he pulls up. (+1 star for punctuality) We talk for a little bit and I am off to work. (+1 star for being a nice guy) Throughout the day he checked in with me on their progress via text with videos and pics. This was because I needed to leave work early and didn't want to keep them waiting with my commute. (Boss Lady has been working from home and peeked on them a couple times from upstairs and told me they were like machines, they didn't stop once) I leave work at lunch and head back to the house to find the boat completely dialed in. I bet this thing hasn't looked this good since it left Jack Coles shop in 1978. (+1 star on delivering what they promised) His price was very reasonable for what he does. (+1 star on price) What Paul and his guy (I forgot his name but super nice guy) were able to knock out today would have taken me at least 2 weekends to do so I am more than happy to have him do it. Please read this before you work with Paul. All those good reviews must be fake. I read couple of bad reviews and didn't take it seriously but make sure you read this: I talked to Paul back in May and got a $500 quote from him to detail a boat. I texted him again last week for the same size boat that was in much better condition with zero oxidation on it and he quoted me $475-$525. I assumed he was honest and consistent considering his seniority and that he has been doing this for years. But boy I was so WRONG! He did a very poor job, which I didn't notice up until the evening after he left because the Sun was hitting on the boat on Friday and it was so hot. I post the pictures so you can see and judge yourselves. Also, after working on the boat for hours and talking to me several times throughout the morning, I was presented with an invoice of $675 instead of $500 out of nowhere. Keep in mind that the boat has bottom paint covering at least a third of it and also the outdrive and he didn't touch those parts at all. Also, he never communicated to me the entire morning anything about increasing the price. In fact, he himself said it that the boat was in good shape so you can imagine my shock after he raised the price on me. After I objected for 10 minutes he reduced it to $600. I seriously considered not paying anything more than $525 but out of respect for his age I finally paid it. Later in the evening when it cooled down, I looked around and went on top of the boat and saw what a poor job he had done. His job was not worth a dollar more than $250. Please keep this review in mind before you fall victim to his bait and switch technique. He really needs to pay me back for the very poor job he did. See the pictures below. read more

We just had lighting detail come out to detail our 2006 Nissan Frontier. This truck has been abused. We had driven cross country pro ly 6 or more times. Terrible work and total con man! I reached out to Paul to "Detail and wax" my new 2022 fifth wheel. Paul told me he was super busy but would squeeze me in the following week. I was supposed to drop it off on Tuesday and he would detail it Wednesday. However when Tuesday came around he pushed me to bring it early and he would do it same day. No problem... Dropped it off at his house and he proceeded to pull out a garden hose (does not use proper water as a pro would use) and he got to work. As I left I showed him the bugs and water stains on the front cap to which he replied "I've been doing this 30 years, it will be perfect". Flash forward 2 hours and I get a text that it will be done shortly. Mind you I have had many trailers and a detail takes 4+hours. Anyways I get there and took one look at the very cap I pointed out earlier on and it looked exactly the same and the bugs were still there. When I pointed it out he said he thought his guy got that but what was I expecting for $360.00. WTF? He set the price and for that I expect the job done right and as I was told it would be. This clown tried to tell me he just gave it a wash and simple wax. However in writing I said full detail. I read the other reviews and this guy makes excuses for everything and I assume he will do the same here. Best bet is to avoid this guy and use a pro. I hear real good things about OC detail and I am going to take it to them to fix what this clown coils not do. UPDATE: got a kick out of this clowns response Beware! Do not trust this guy! WOW!!!!! JUST WOW! All I can say is Paul is a master detailer and brought our 1999 bayliner back to life! Not only is he extremely professional, he is extremely punctual. Sorry guys, this review is long overdue. We gave 'Lightning Detail' a call this summer. Although they were busy, we were able to easily schedule convenient dates to have our boat and RV worked on. We were given separate estimates for the boat and RV, and both seemed reasonable. On both days, Paul and his assistant Edgar arrived on time (6:30 a.m.) and got right to work. It was in the middle of July, and the temperatures soared. They both worked tirelessly on our 23' Leprechaun Class C RV, and 1982 SKIPJACK 20. I am very very upset with the horrible "detail " in my 1 yr old car which was in excellent condition to begin with-- the first thing I want to say is the next day I took my car out for the first time after detail-- OMG my ears can't believe what's that F----- squeaky noise MY CAR WAS PERFECT BEFORE and I pay $$$ to have this WTF!!! Long-overdue review. Several months ago Paul and his team came out to detail our boat. It'd been in indoor storage for many months and although not filthy it did need some detailed care. In the 10 years we've had the boat my husband has never once been satisfied with a detail job that we paid for.
