I wanted to get this review out quickly to inform all others seeking computer repairs that the reviews for Lightning and Charles are true. He did an amazing job in refurbishing my old PC desktop after I mishandled the installation of a new CPU. He was courteous and kind, never once making me feel like an idiot, and provided detailed information as to what happened and provided a solution that I understood. All of this occurred before I returned home. Upon agreeing to the refurbishing, he went to work, keeping me updated throughout the day. My wife's laptop was not functioning properly, so I called and talked with Charles. I had used him several times before and was happy with his work. After describing the problem, we arrange to meet the next morning (Saturday) so Charles could take a look. I would like to add my well deserved five star review to this company and to Charles, the owner of Lightening Computer. Charles came out the day after I spoke to him about my keyboard issue which had suddenly stopped working and being recognized by my computer. He brought a test keyboard with him and after trying a few things that keyboard started working so we figured it was keyboard issue. I then purchased a new keyboard thinking all was well but unfortunately it didn't work so we knew it had be a software problem. Charles connected to my computer remotely and started trying everything he knew to try to figure out what was causing this issue. His computer knowledge was impressive and he said he had never encountered an issue like mine and that it looked like an outside hacker had corrupted several files. After quite a while of non stop working his patience and persistence finally paid off and my keyboard started responding! I found this place on yelp and didn't know why they didn't have an address. It turns out that the workers come to your workplace or house to fix the computer. My netbook died on me and I needed all the data on it. Instead of going to my house, I arranged to meet them in South San Jose. The guy told me that it would be basically 10 dollars per gig of data. I was worried because I had a lot of stuff on there, but the guy reassured me that it wouldn't be that much. He's seen 17 at the max for these netbooks. I mentioned how I had used Bay Area Computerman before and they retrieved all my data for 250 flat, no matter how much space. He called me back the same day and said it was done! Fast service. I picked it up the next day at the same spot. It turns out that I have 27 gigs of data. It was supposed to be 270 dollars, but he said that he did not want to charge me more than Bay Area Computerman so he only charged me 200, tax included. I really appreciated. They work very quickly and if you are okay with dropping it off at random locations, then you will be happy with them. read more

I am using a fake name due to a threat against a one star 10 years ago. For this review; I will reveal my name as Kristin N . I had a Toshiba ( thought was 8 years old but was possibly 10) laptop that was corrupted with viruses despite my McAfee rx . The hard drive as well as software was corrupted and failing. It was painfully slow to boot up or do any sort of applications I am not using a computer extensively, therefore had hesitations on buying a $500 replacement .
