I have seen this black owned cookie store. Every time I go into the kentlands, and I always ride past it. I'm so glad that I stopped to take a look and get some treats. I walked in i was i was welcome. The store was so cute and very clean. You can sit in and eat your treats or beverages or you can take it to go. I purchased 3 cookies. I purchased the chocolate chip with coconut. I purchased the apple pie and the biscoff caramel. The cookies was moist, chewy not overly sweet. The size was good for the price. I just finished shopping and I was craving a cookie! I had read good reviews about Potomac Cookie and decided to stop by. Service was great,there is a bell that tinkles,as you walk in the door. I was immediately waited on. The cookie selection was great! I decided on my traditional choice, the s'mores chocolate cookie. Cookies are $6 a piece, but this cookie is huge. It is the size of your fist. So, I know that I won't eat it all at once. There is a big piece of marshmallow inside the cookie and there is rich chocolate melted inside. The cookie is cake like in consistency and delicious! Yum! They have a beautiful area for comfortable seating, with a sofa and small tables and cute swivel chairs. We tried two different cookies- the cookies and cream and the Biscoff. The Biscoff one was a lot better and tasted like a Biscoff cookie mixed with a chocolate chip cookie. The cookies and cream cookie lacked flavor and was not cooked in the middle. I'd try it again in order to see if this was a one time issue or if it's a consistent pattern. read more

Updating my review, we returned still a clean cute shop. We got four cookies Dubai, black bear, German chocolate and one I don't remember . The Dubai was very good. The black bear was not good and they confirmed it was a bad batch so we will have to try it again. I did not try the last two cookies. I still think it's quite pricey but now they have a loyalty program unless I misunderstood at check out. read more

After stumbling in here looking for another place that was (unbeknownst to me) only a few doors down...I eagerly decided to make the best of my unexpected visit and ordered a few cookies to try out. The customer service was kind and patient, and the cafe space was cutely decorated with tons of natural light. I was hopeful! Unfortunately, the taste of these cookies fell flat. Based on the flavors I selected: chocolate chip, cookies 'n cream, and red velvet, none of them were truly delectable. They were quite doughy and soft, which I like and prefer, but no distinct flavor profile. I also asked if they could warm up the cookies..and they do not offer this service. I didn't order any coffee or other specialty beverages, except for sparkling flavored water. We stopped in today. I do have to say that I was surprisingly surprised at how much I liked the cookies. The cookies were gooey soft centers with slight crispiness on the outside. They had 6 flavors- we got 5 of the 6... Chocolate chips, oatmeal raisins, cookies and cream, s'more, and da fudge. They also had red velvet, which we passed. The giant cookie craze has arrived - led by the inexplicable explosion of Crumbl and Insomnia. Well, maybe Insomnia is great but I haven't tried them. Crumbl has its appeal but they serve a giant sugary cookie with a thick frosting and it's just not really my speed. So, when we saw Potomac Cookie Company we wanted to see if it could meet our personal expectations of deliciousness. It did. A nice clean space in Kentlands with a nice selection of treats greeted us. Parking is plentiful around the area, but spaces right out front are all parallel and sometimes hard to find. Don't let the photo fool you - we went quite late. All selections were still available. We got a red velvet and an apple cookie. They were both wonderful, with the right balances of flavor and no hint of a large scale industrial cookie batter. I don't know what I mean by that but hopefully you do. So - if you like a cookie with a little more depth of flavor than the frosted sugar cookies that abound in other establishments, give Potomac Cookie a try. read more

Okay so Dubai chocolate strawberries are super popular right now. I got to eat it once like last weekend and became obsessed with it! So I wanted to come back during my lunch breaks from work to grab some. Literally every single day since Tuesday they've given every excuse of how it's out and it is just not here or there's some missing ingredient. And they kept asking me to just drive in person every single day the next day to come back and it hasn't been here at all. I've checked in person EVERY SINGLE DAY! Here's the thing, there's no phone number, no order ahead button. None of that for me to even check so I don't waste my gas on lies and people to tell me to just "check tomorrow" all for the constant lies to never add up. Today I come in and I'm assuming a manager was there and she said "it'll be ready in 20 mins" well I'm on a lunch break. She asked what time does my shift end. Lady, that's just not fair. Id been impatiently awaiting their opening day for over a year. Finally, I had the chance to stop by for cookies! I had my doubts that they could survive being in the same neighborhood as Crumbl, but they're completely different style cookies. Potomac Cookie is similar to Levain, but smaller. Crumbl, on the other hand, is less chunky and more cakey. I don't discriminate and enjoy both types. The cookies were expensive for the size but tasty. I can see myself going back for more! Saw this spot on Instagram and was super excited to try. I got the Biscoff cookie, which was surprisingly extremely underwhelming. The cookie didn't really have much flavor at all, it was very bland. The Biscoff cookie they put on top with the Biscoff butter was the most enjoyable part. The texture, I don't mind as I like doughy/cake like cookies, but the overall flavor fell very short. I waited a couple months to write a review here to give the new shop a chance. Unfortunately, the growing pains seem to be continuing. I was SO excited when a cookie place like this opened up in the neighborhood. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and not the super-sweet cookie you would generally get at Crumbl. The biggest problem is that all the cookies seem to be undercooked, without fail. And, I love a soft cookie, but this is more like cookie dough. You can feel the grainy texture. I've tried all their different flavors, over multiple visits over several weeks, and it's always the same. I was assuming at first it was a new convection oven that they were getting used to, but I don't even know anymore. I mean, they must sample what they're putting up for sale at almost $6/cookie, right? Anyway, maybe I'll give it one more chance in a few months. It's really a shame because I really wanted to love this cute shop. I was all-in and told my family and neighbors all about it and couldn't wait for it to open. Sure hope it improves and they're able to make a go of it here in the Kentlands. P.S. I have never seen the owner(s) there, even though I visited on their opening day. I sure hope they read some of these reviews that reference the exact same baking issues that I've consistently seen, because the shop has so much potential. Stopped in on Wed and ordered the 5 available varieties and got 1 free. Yummm, they were all delicious. The red velvet was amazing and closest to what most would consider a huge cookie. The others were cookie mounds. Lol. Soft, gooey, a touch doughy in the middle with a slight crispness around the edges. My son and I love cookies like these. My husband prefers them straight out of the oven so his went in the Ninja for a couple of mins. Wow! We couldn't eat a whole cookie each (they are BIG) so while they are a bit pricey, the 6 cookies served as dessert over multiple nights. Today is Saturday (day 4) and they are still soft and delicious. All I did was close the box. I won't be able to report on day 5 freshness because they will be gone before then :-) I also talked to the owner. From the size to the cost of $6.00 a cookie, to the cookie itself. They were more of a cake-cookie, the centers were kind of doughy still. We tried the Oreo, chocolate chip, and chocolate, lava. We've been looking forward to the opening for months and were really taken by surprise by the high price tag ($6/cookie!) for what you get: medium sized, very doughy cookies that don't wash down well with an overpriced coffee. Now we know why the prices are not posted on the menu. We tried the 4 different kinds and they all had a weird cinnamony or nutmeg-ish taste. Our kids didn't like them much. The service was good and quick tho, and the girls were friendly. But there's seriously no atmosphere in the cafe, so not somewhere we wanted to stay for long. Also, this place doesnt have a phone number and their website doesnt work so you can't order in advance or get a delivery. I dont like thick cookies at all and prefer Wegman's cookies, but I didnt feel like driving to Germantown. The taste of cookie was good and soft. I would probably go again but not for a long time.
