We got a box of six for $21 ($19 plus tax): * raspberry - nice raspberry filling inside - lemon - could barely taste lemon, skip unless they increase the lemon flavor * orange ginger - no real ginger flavor but a nice subtle orange flavor * red velvet - not too sweet, it was pleasant * mint-white chocolate - nice mint flavor * pistachio - great pistachio flavor - get several if you love pistachio! There were a lot more wonderful flavors. We got coffee au laits to go with the macarons and sat several hours talking. The gelato is truly horrible. You can taste the grainy milk powder they use. My teen daughter actually offered to pay me back because she felt bad about not eating more than 2 bites! This place is adorable. The colors and decor are so cheerful. I'm not the biggest fan of macarons but my husband and I wanted coffee and we decided to get macarons at the same time. I was in Gaithersburg at the Rio town center for the day and I stumbled across this cute little colorful shop. I'm not a big sweets fan but the colorful store grabbed my attention. Omg the chocolates were too cute.... The cashier was welcoming, very helpful, friendly and patient. All of the chocolates were very different creative and it was very hard to choose, however I settled on 5 different selections. There was no wait time, the store was very clean and all of the chocolates I purchased were great. Other options are available, not only chocolates. They have the cutest macarons in all sorts of colors however I didn't try any of those this visit. They also have cake, ice cream/Sorbet and even a few souvenirs available for purchase as well. I happened to be in the vicinity of this shop one weekend and decided to stop by. I have had many a macaron before from other places and decided to try one here. Before my visit, I didn't know they also sold other items like gelato, chocolates and hot & iced drinks. There is seating in the shop - just a few tables and chairs. I like that you can have tastes of gelato, but just a few as there is a limit. When it comes to getting gelato, a small is 1 scoop, a regular is 2 scoops, and a large is 3 scoops. Here is what I ordered: A regular gelato and a macaron. I had the option of getting two different flavors for the gelato for my two scoops, so I had (1) Mint flavor and (2) Almond Macaron flavor. The macaron I got was Tiramisu and it wasn't until I was at the register that I found out if it were added to my gelato, I would get it for $2 which is a discount for the price of one, so I opted for that (why not). I was able to get a seat and proceeded to try what I ordered. I enjoyed the gelato, especially the Almond Macaron flavor - that was so delicious that I will get it again. As for the Tiramisu macaron, I was disappointed as it was so soft when I bit into it. I did not want to eat any more of that - maybe it wasn't made well. The service was good and helpful. Macarons are one of my favorite desserts but to have a standard size cost $3.15 is insane. I have a friend who runs a macaron business that sells it for less. So because of the prices, I opted in gelato instead. The violet flavor tasted nice but I was craving chocolate so I went with cookies n cream. Le Macaron French Pastries is a wonderful bakery for those of us with killer sweet tooth's. They have a variety of macarons, it was hard to choose. I picked raspberry, chocolate praline, and strawberry. There were a rainbow of choices that included mango, blueberry, coconut, birthday cake and so many more. My macarons were crunchy on the outside and filled with luscious tasty fillings. And, yes, I asked, they are only 70 calories each. It was worth every bite. Then, there are artisanal chocolates that were just beautiful. If you travel down the aisle, the end case has a cool creamy assortment of gelato's. In addition, there were beignets, eclairs, and other sweets. The service was top notch and I enjoyed talking with the staff working today. There are a few tables and chairs for those that want to sit and eat their treats in the store. The bakery has only been there for a couple of months. Surprisingly it was limited to just eclairs, croissants (chocolate or almond), beignets (chocolate or berry), or tarts. They also sell chocolate candy and gelato. I decided on an almond croissant and chocolate beignets for my husband. We took our pastries to go. The croissant was delicious. I got my husband three chocolate beignets, but the associate inadvertently gave a berry one. My hubby said the berry one was better than the chocolate. I took a bite of the chocolate. It was fine, but I definitely have had better. My colleague got a Columbian coffee macaron which she says was good. The flavor combo of basil white chocolate was not her favorite. The sales associate was friendly and helpful with questions I asked. The shop has a few seats. There is a cute backdrop that says good vibes only which is great for selfies. As we were walking around the Rio, we bought this on a whim. I was going to visit a friend, so I bought 6 to bring and share. The store is cute and the staff is friendly. I think $3.15/macaron or 6 for 18, it's pretty pricey. However, these are too complicated for me to make at home, so it's a nice splurge item. I found most of them to be fairly meh and indistinct in flavor. My favorite by far was the pistachio, followed by the vanilla. The others I tried, red velvet and tiramisu were just okay. This place is really cute I'll be back to try the gelato in the summer. I tried the coffee and macarons this time. The macarons are really good they taste much more authentic so the flavor is subtle and the outer layer is flaky. The coffee was pretty standard, I got a vanilla latte and appreciate they have almond milk. It's interesting to see so many dessert places pop up in Rio. Le Macaron is on the other side of the bridge from Fantasticks and Donutchew. Le Macaron sells gelato, chocolates, and a few pastries in addition to their macarons. Their chocolates and macaroons are a bit price @ ~$3, but they're great gift ideas. Came here to see what the hype was about. The staff was all very inviting and friendly. They had some samples which were all very good. The prices of the Macarons is high at $3 and change per macaron. I stepped in with two little kids and got 6 macarons. Of course the kids ate them quickly and didn't appreciate the flavors and textures. It sort of kills you inside. It's very exciting to have a cute little cafe at Rio! The place was pretty and makes a good impression when you walk in. We tried the gelato, coffee and macarons. The macarons were cakey and tasted more like almond than any of the flavors we tried. I ordered an affogato and was not expecting it to be served in a bowl type paper cup; the gelato was not silky smooth as gelato ought to be and did not melt with the shot of espresso. Moving past the way it was served, the taste was okay. There were 2 people behind the counter, but only one was helping and getting everyone's orders ready. I stopped by today because I love sweets. It's a cute little shop with 4 tables on the side for anyone who wanted to sit and eat their desserts. The staff members were very nice and helpful and I was easily able to pick and choose my array of macarons. Honestly, I would love to give the establishment a 3.5 for my experience. We got a total of 12 macarons; birthday cake, champagne, red velvet, salted caramel, ginger bread, mint, mango, Colombian coffee, and tiramisu. Of these I would say Colombian coffee, gingerbread, and mango were my favorite flavors. The salted caramel tasted like coffee, so I assume the wrong filling was placed in it. However, I think my only complaint is that only 1/3 of my macarons were fully baked. I feel as though too many were underbaked for the price I paid.
