Go to Lil' Gen's in the morning and get in line before Icy Strait Point gets crowded. We were first in line for their 9am opening and once we started the line, it got very long behind us! We could smell the donuts long before opening, and we had time to look at the menu flavors before they opened! Recommend in order to make the line go faster for everyone! The donuts are mini and you can order them by picking one or two flavors per dozen which I did (6 chocolate and 6 spiced apple cider). They come to you warm and fresh in a bag and what's cool is there are no artificial colors used at all, so even if you get chocolate, the donut has no color, but has the flavor! The employees were very friendly and were quick and efficient. If you're in Icy Strait Point get in line and get the donuts, you'll be happy you did! read more

Came to Icy Strait as a port on a cruise. This was my must-do here and I do not regret it! It did open a little later than posted but we went to explore the city some more. It's a small little white building after the cannery. Just follow your nose. Fresh warm lil donuts! There are so many flavors but we got powdered sugar and snickerdoodle. We got a dozen and we shared with family later on the boat. There was a long line but we went shopping and came back a little later and the line was significantly shorter. The line also moves fast! It did open a little later then posted but it gave us more time to wander around the town. read more

Highly recommended. Friendly service and freshly made. Had half dozen of apple pie, powdered sugar and chocolate - warm, crunchy outside with soft insides. Delicious! Because they don't use food coloring the Chocolate didn't look like chocolate but the flavor was there. All 3 kids approved. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offered many different favors of donuts, and their prices were very affordable. Huge long lines but worth the wait. Wife loves donuts and I wanted a coffee so I stood in line. I got 6 powdered sugar and 6 salted caramel. Made some new friends when a couple of young brothers were filming and asked what I had. I offered them a taste and we got to talking. We were both on the same deck of the Carnival cruise line and we lived less than 10 miles away from each other. Little donuts make NEW friends!!! This is nothing more than a little hut but there were a lot of people working in there. I believe these are a fundraiser to feel the local needy so a great way to give back while enjoying a little donut. read more

What a lovely donut shop! An abundance of flavors, tasty and not too heavy. The business is native-owned and buying their donuts supports the local community. There is even a local Raven that likes to eat them too, the owners named him. We saw him down a stack of 3 donuts. He's gained quite a few LBs though lol. read more

Hoonah is the cutest little town with some great people! We stopped here on our cruise and with the cold weather, these warm doughnuts sounded delicious! This was by far our favorite stop, and these little doughnuts were a perfect snack while watching the whales! The military discount was awesome, and the staff were so friendly and helpful since there were so many flavors to choose from! We ended up getting snickerdoodle and chocolate espresso, my boyfriend loved the espresso and I loved the snickerdoodle but both were delicious! Will definitely be stopping by if we port here again! Great spot to stop for a sweet treat. Got the spiced apple cider and it was delicious. The services was super quick even with many people waiting it only took a couple minutes to get our doughnuts after ordering. Very nice walk up coffee and donut shop located in the port area of Icey Strait. Excellent full bodied cup of coffee that is a huge step up from the cruise ship coffee (swill) we had been drinking for the past week. Another thing of note they offer a military discount which is very nice of which we took full advantage of which lowered our price to $2 for a large cup of coffee. Nice! read more

The line can be ridiculously long especially right after getting off the cruise. But if you come back in the afternoon, it's definitely worth it. Ordered chocolate, plain, and maple syrup. Our cruise stopped into Icy Strait for the day, and the rumblings about some magical donut stand were already echoing through the ship. After exploring the shops, we found it tucked into a corner behind the shopping center and next to absolutely gorgeous views of the ocean. We quickly got into line, despite the fact that about 50 people were in front of us. Let's be honest... there isn't a whole lot to do in Icy Strait. It ended up paying off, but the line was the worst part. I think they would really benefit from having a menu that is able to be seen farther down the line. This place has over twenty flavors to choose from! Our favorite overall was probably the huckleberry. We loved watching our donuts get made with the teeny tiny, almost toy looking donut maker in the window. And my mom though their powdering method was both hilarious and genius. They have shelves of powder, all the same color, and they throw a scoop into your bag to shake it all over your donuts. We had a great time, but wish the line could've moved faster. They make mini donuts. They have a variety of flavored powders. They are all white powder, which is odd when you get the chocolate and it's a white powder. But, very tasty. After hopping off the cruise ship and walking into Icy Strait Point, "DOUGHNUT SHOP" caught my eye on the map. Walking along the dock, pass the private residences and cemetery, and through the retail shops and museums, you'll be greeted with the tiny donut shop. Mini donuts were tasty with every bite! Waited in line for 30 minutes but it was well worth it. We had a few hours until our wilderness hike excursion we had booked with Celebrity cruises and heard there were donuts. Went through the interesting gift stores in the main building which had a great selection of items and just outside the back entrance found our donuts. ~20 different flavors of mini donuts, had the maple which was tossed in icing sugar as well. $6 dozen for 1 flavor and $7 if you have 2 flavors. Amazing tasty little handmade donuts! Was exactly what I was looking for, something to eat quickly that wasn't a restaurant and satisfied my ever growing hunger! I ordered a bag of 12 mini made-to-order donuts with chocolate dipping sauce. The donuts come in a bag of 6 or 12, and with such dipping sauces as chocolate, vanilla, maple or maple with real bacon. Or you can have then rolled in sugar, cinnamon sugar or honey. The donuts only took about 3 minutes to come out and were so hot and fresh... Perfect! 12 donuts was enough for the Husband and I to share and curb our appetite for the time being. The little shop (walk up to the window to order) also sells coffee and tea and this amazing thing called the "Tornado Potato". The Tornado Potato is a thinly spiral sliced potato which has been breaded and fried so it's nice and crispy on the outside, and hot and creamy on the inside. You also get your choice of salt for the outside! They looked super good, and I regret not getting one now. I would definitely recommend stopping by this little shack while in Hoonah, it's kind of hidden behind the large building on the right where the excursions depart from, but explore a little and you will easily find it! read more

Cute little coffee stand that will warm your tummy and your heart. Makes me happy to support a local vendor that is part of a charitable organization like the Salvation Army. Their donut bites are a great sweet treat on a cloudy day. read more
