This little mom-and-pop Thai restaurant is a hidden gem for authentic flavors! We went on a quiet Wednesday evening, and although it was empty, the food quality was anything but. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a quaint and quiet little restaurant located off beach, near the Mayo Clinic so I expected more people to come here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a curry, pad kee mao, and fried rice--each dish was packed with bold, fresh flavors that really stood out. The service was a bit slow, but it's clear they make everything from scratch, and you can taste the difference. The curry was creamy and well-spiced, the pad kee mao had that perfect balance of heat and savoriness, and the fried rice was flavorful without being greasy. If you're looking for real, homemade Thai food and don't mind waiting a bit for quality, this spot is well worth a visit. Just be patient--you'll be rewarded with some of the best Thai food around!

We found this unassuming restaurant while looking through yelp for some ideas. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Beach Boulevard and has limited seating. We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by the chef herself. It was a unique experience to have a conversation with the chef with subsequently go and cook our dinner! She told me that the restaurant is relatively new with hopes of expansion, and she was currently working to get more staff to handle the demand. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We love the fact that the restaurant was small with a very personal touch as evidenced by the fantastic food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Each mouthful contain tons of flavor. There are three options for spice levels, mild, moderate and hot. We tried the fried wontons and crab Rangoon's for the appetizer followed by chicken green curry and the pad prig pao.. The milk fried tea was probably the best we've ever had. We selected the moderate level, which was very tasty. I know many may have different spice thresholds so medium may be a good place to start. I think next time I may try the hot level. I was also pleased with the fact that there is free parking in the lot. This seems like one of the best kept secrets on the beach Boulevard dining scene. I think we will return to try some more of the menu items.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute authentic Thai spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located off Beach in a small strip mall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We arrived at 630 on Saturday night and the place was empty. A few tables filled as we were there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was one lady taking orders and signs that said 1-2 ppl to cook. Despite that, food came out fast and great tasting. I will definitely be back and will try some new things!

Formerly Rice Bowl, this place is outstanding!

A truly superb Thai restaurant with great food and service! It's been a while since I had Panang with chicken and the helping with lots of green beans and side of rice was almost enough for me to take it home for seconds! But I got more motivation because I loved the dish that I kept going - and promptly put myself into a food coma! My friend had pad Thai - basic dish in a large bowl with a side of brown rice. I will give them a Lil hit because they did bring the wrong side, but it was good enough to give them a pass. It's really just an issue with our server who didn't understand English well, so we did have some communication issues. It's ok - these things happen sometimes in restaurants so I'm gentle when it comes to scoring on this. In all, I was happy with the service, even with the juggling in our communication. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I did like the look of the restaurant. It's a ma and pa shop that's nice in appearance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You see some traditional Thai decor on the interior but it's certainly nowhere near overwhelming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are a good number of booths here with nice spacing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I encourage people to visit Lil Thai as the cuisine here is superior to many Thai restaurants I've experienced in recent years! Give it a try! Recommend: HIGH

Red curry with chicken. Made me sweat but so good!

My wife and I saw some decent reviews of this new Thai place and decided to give it a try. The restaurant was formerly the Rice Bowl, and before that was Mr. Chan's. The space isn't huge, but it's very clean and bright. The owner is super nice and very enthusiastic about her restaurant and her food. Lunch included either a spring roll or a small salad, which was a nice touch. I ordered the red curry with chicken and my wife the Rad Nah with tofu. If, like me, you have no idea what Rad Nah actually is, it's a flat noodle with veggies in a brown sauce. Oh and we ordered an appetizer of pork dumplings because, well, why not? The pork dumplings were fantastic. The ground meat inside was tender and well spiced, and the wrapping was not overly doughy. Probably my favorite bite of lunch. The peanut sauce dressing on the salad is great as well. I didn't quite know what the dipping sauce was with the spring roll. It was fine, but I didn't love it. The red curry was great. To me it was a touch spice, but I know everyone's spice level will vary. The chicken was tender and the veggies were great, especially the little eggplants. To us the weakest dish was the Rad Nah. By no means was it bad, but the flavors were very understated and I guess we were expecting a bit more from the dish. Overall a great experience and definitely a restaurant you should try if you like Thai food!

This place is authentic! For an appetizer we ordered crab Rangoon and pork dumplings. Both were wonderful. I ordered the Thom Ka Gai soup and it was unlike any that I've had. The owner will tell you that she doesn't Americanize their dishes and everything is made from scratch! I ordered the Pad Ka Prow and it was quite yummy. My companion had the whole red snapper with garlic ginger sauce. For dessert, we had the Pandon custard bread pudding. I will be back to this little place. Please support it!

What a find!?! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a tiny place, but very big on flavors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came here 4/11 around 6:30pm and it was amazing. We ordered the vegetarian springs rolls, pad see ew and drunken noodle. The presentation was great, but the food was delicious. The spice level was perfect. I can't wait to get back here. Thank you for the great food.

Run, don't walk, to Lil Thai Place!! This gem is tucked in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. The food is authentic, fresh, and delicious. We stopped in for lunch on Saturday afternoon and were rhetorical only a ones there. The owner greeted us right away and talked to us about the menu and how she sourced everything as freshly and authentically as possible. My son ordered the pork dumplings and said, "These are the best dumplings I've ever had!" The pork is sweet and savory and the wrappers were just the right light texture. My husband ordered the Pad Thai and devoured the whole plate. It was light, fresh, and mild. They provided roasted Thai pepper for us to season it to our liking. Perfection! I had the drunken noodles and they were the best I've ever had as well. The owner gave us each a spring roll on the house. Such a nice surprise! We will 100% be back soon!!

Came to this restaurant with our 3 kids- off the bat, the service was exceptional. We were greeted by the waitress and the owner. They went through the menu thoroughly and made incredible recommendations. We ordered a kids chicken fried rice, pad Thai, drunken noodles, wonton soup, and a Thai salad. Food was 10/10 and highly recommend you check this place out

Sounds like everything is made to order. Can they accommodate a gluten allergy?

A lot of our dishes are already gluten free. The menu at the restaurant will show which ones are. But some stir-fried could be made to gluten free too but it will have to customize to the order.

You definitely get your moneys worth with the highest quality dinner or lunch you could ever ask. The service beyond stellar! Because I go there so much and they know me so well I don't even have to tell them what I want to drink they bring it automatically. They truly treat their customers like family and that's a rarity these days! They truly care about their customers and they remember who they are. I listened to them with other tables and they take just as an active interest in them as they do Me. That's the sign of quality. I love the ambience because they always have fresh flowers and they're always dust free. So many times you'll go into places in the plants have dust on them not here. Someone truly takes care of the greenery and it is green! It's also very interesting to watch the TV screens as they do demonstrations of various Thai food preparation. I've been to numerous Thai places in Jacksonville. None can hold a candle to this one. Moreover, when I lived on the West Coast in California and I went to some fantastic Thai restaurants, they don't compare to this one! You can never go wrong here.

It looked like people came here with their families for special occasions. There was only one person working to cover everything from seating, take out, serving, etc., and he did an amazing job of staying on top of everything. He even took the time to explain to me that they recently decided to make their entire menu (save for the fried items) gluten free due to many requests they'd received from their customers. It was so nice to eat at a place that was so considerate! Their menu is definitely more fusion than authentic. I asked the server for a recommendation and he told me his favorite is the Curry Fried Rice, but it was a big portion, so I opted for his second favorite, the Drunken Noodles. I asked about the spice levels and asked for mine to be more spicy. It wasn't as spicy as I hoped, so I asked for a spice tray and added several spoonfuls of various chili flakes and peppers. My colleagues got the yellow curry and said it was basically flavorless, but they liked their Drunken Noodles. I'm thankful to have the gluten free option, but I was missing the essence of the classic/authentic flavor. Overall, the décor, ambience, and service was great, but the food was just okay.

We've had better seared tuna, so it wasn't the worst, but we could have gone without that as an appetizer. The tom yum soup tasted off, no where near as good as other Thai restaurants in the Jacksonville area. There were also bits of ginger, and something else that should have been removed. It wasn't terrible, I'd say a 6/10 but they did not have an option for a combination of meats, or seafood, so I got chicken. The chicken strip was something you would expect to get from a fast food Chinese restaurant, and portion was laughable. We chatted with a couple people that said they come here sometimes weekly, and that they think the food is great. I'm sorry to say, but they are missing out on some great Thai food if this is their spot.
