Cute Thai restaurant. Specifically came in bc I heard they make really spicy food where you have to sign a consent form. My bf especially loves a spice challenge so we went in. They can make any dish that spicy so we ordered the papaya salad (added shrimp) as Thai spicy and their drunken noodle with beef as extra (signature needed) spicy. Wow, was it freaking spicy. I could only eat two bites of the noodles. We finished the papaya salad completely and it was delicious! But the noodles were just too spicy. Haha. Learned our lesson. Best Thai food in Jacksonville! We come here all the time and love it. My favorite dish is the soh basal fish filet with ground pork - an exceptional plate of fried fish, basil and garlic, and sweet ground pork over rice. The crispy pork belly is also amazing - crunchy yet moist and not tacky. The fried rice and stir fried plates are also solid choices. My wife loves the panang! My only complaint is that they don't have khao soi on their menu! I know that's a northern Thai dish, but that would be amazing. I also found the pad siew to be overcooked, but considering how great the other dishes I have had here were I may have experienced a fluke with that one. Service is excellent: friendly, attentive, and professional. Ambiance is intimate and cozy - this is a small restaurant great for groups up to four people. This restaurant has somewhat limited seating. We were told to find a table and a server will be right there. We snagged a table closer to the restroom, but it was an arm's length from the table to the left, and right of us. Basically was sitting right up next to strangers, but not a big deal. Service was slow. Took a while to get our drinks, and then have our order taken. Once they took the order the food came out within a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the seared tuna, tom yum soup, and the panang curry. All of which was a total disappointment. We've had better seared tuna, so it wasn't the worst, but we could have gone without that as an appetizer. The tom yum soup tasted off, no where near as good as other Thai restaurants in the Jacksonville area. There were also bits of ginger, and something else that should have been removed. Did not come with rice. I took some of the rice that came with my curry, and gave it to my wife. As far as my curry. It wasn't terrible, I'd say a 6/10 but they did not have an option for a combination of meats, or seafood, so I got chicken. The chicken strip was something you would expect to get from a fast food Chinese restaurant, and portion was laughable. We chatted with a couple people that said they come here sometimes weekly, and that they think the food is great. Jacksonville.....after living here for 6 months....this is the first restaurant I can say made me turn to and review. On historic King St, Pattaya Thai sits upon the south end of the street. It's quaint. It's clean. It smells heavenly. We decided to try a small plate of the cracklins, a southern treat done in Thai style! Absolutely a crowd pleaser, and for being a small plate, was a great appetizer. For dinner we had the drunken noodles with beef. This is the first dish I've had that I will be thinking about for awhile. Complex salty and sweet flavors done with the perfect noodle! A fine choice of beverages and desserts. Always amazing! Pattaya is always so authentic and consistently delicious. It's a small inside with a few tables outside. On the weekends they are super busy but usually chill on the weekdays. Our server was wonderful. Helped us make our decisions, kept our drinks filled, and was very attentive. My favorite is the Penang Curry. I have alsonhad the Pad Seiew which is so delicious if your not in the mood for a curry. My husband ordered the Lad Na noodles which was so amazing! Such unique flavors you can't get anywhere else. Tonight we ordered the cocoanut custard for dessert. It comes out warm and in 6 small ramikins. We learned as we are them that they solidify a little more as you eat them. New favourite Thai place in town!!! Family owned and ran, with true authentic roots. If interested more about the history you can read it in the menu. The food is simply delicious with great portions and it almost feels like you are eating in somebody else's home with friendly service. A wonderful culinary, un pretentious and home feeling experience. The pad Thai and their curry is simply better, and maybe cheaper, than the other Thai places in town. Seriously the worst pho I've ever had. My fault for getting it from a thai restaurant instead of a Vietnamese restaurant. It had 4 tiny shrimp, pad thai noodles instead of proper pho noodles. And they put it all in the broth for Togo instead of keeping it separate. Absolutely trash. read more

The Matsomon (Massaman) Curry is awe inspiringly good. It's the perfect balance of sweet heat. The peanuts are a welcome crunch to the dish. By far the best curry I've ever had at a restaurant. Regularly share this with teen and have a leftover meal to look forward to. We order an extra side of white rice to leave with. Crab Rangoons are some kind of wonderful. The little hint of curry makes these crunchy crisp delights a table favorite. Don't pass on the desserts here! Mango Sticky Rice is perfectly sweet, picked at the height of juicy flavor. I could eat this all day. Even the Bananas Foster was magical. Every single item I've tried from the menu has been knockout delicious. You can't go wrong with any of these dishes. Eating in is a little bit hot and humid inside, with outside seating as a limited option. However, this never stops me from stopping in. The food is that good. Pattaya Thai is my go-to place for takeout Thai food in town. But I've eaten there once or twice and it's quite small, but rustic and quaint, with good service. My regular order is usually a sweet Thai basil dish (which is essentially the same as the hot Thai basil but without the heat) or the chicken pad Thai, which is always consistently good. I also love their pot stickers, which are lightly pan fried with a nice crunch on the edges. I had their version of drunken noodles once and fair warning to anyone who's a drunken noodles enthusiast like me, it's not the typical way the dish is prepared so I don't order it from here, but everything else I've had from here is great! read more

We ordered this thai food on Grubhub and I am still thinking about my green curry!! It was delicious. I've been wanting to visit this restaurant, but decided to try takeout on a busy day instead. I ordered green curry with vegetables and added tofu. I was surprised when I opened it to see not a lot of vegetables and no eggplant. I really wanted all veggies, but it was mostly all steamed tofu that soaked up the curry. It was really good, but not what I was expecting. I think it will be better to order in the restaurant next time. My boyfriend ordered the pork fried rice and it was delicious! So smoky! I was nervous about the spice level so I got medium, but it really was not spicy at all. I will order a little hotter next time. Good first impression. Been here at Pattaya Thai when it was covid and we did a carryout order and to be honest I was not impressed. but my friends decided to have dinner there on a thursday night and the rest was history! Everything was great! from the appetizers that we had to our main meal to desserts! for our appetizers we ordered chicken satay with their peanut sauce and it was AMAZEBALLS! Our friends ordered the cucumber salad and that was definitely refreshing! We also ordered the Spring roll. as for our dinner, I ordered the Pad thai and added chicken on it, Crab fried rice looked good and sadly i did not got the chance to try it, we also had the panang curry and the taste of it was out of this world, my favorite was the Soh Basa fish fillet, my friend ordered it and it was so good! we will definitely be back here and just FYI this place is very small and have a very few seating area. read more

I absolutely love Thai food, and this place was the absolute worst I have ever had. I got the red coconut curry sauce with chicken. The chicken was obviously pre-cooked because it was rubbery with absolutely no taste despite soaking in medium spicy curry sauce. There were 5 small pieces of chicken and an over abundance of bamboo shoots. The curry sauce was not made to order, they scooped it out of a container that was on a cart next to the stove... definitely not fresh food made to order. I decided to try something new this week on DoorDash, and this restaurant caught my eye. First, I ordered the crispy pork wontons, which were delicious--a nice crispy outside and delightful pork inside with a sweet chili sauce. I also ordered the pork veggie potstickers and didn't care much about them. It's still good, just not my favorite. I got the chicken pad Thai and the chicken Thai fried rice for entrees. The pad Thai was good and flavorful. The fried rice was okay. Again, it's not my favorite. I will say I did get sick the following day from eating the food. I'm not sure which item it was, but something made me sick to my stomach. Don't let this ruin your take. Theres a chance I had a bad batch of one of the items. read more

I ordered two entrees from here, and I reached back out to a staff member at the location. The two entrees I ordered were wrong. One wasn't even something I ordered and had an item I'm allergic to. The second one was completely inedible and overcooked and/ or undercooked. Unfortunately, the staff was unprofessional towards me. Although I'm a regular here, and I don't usually have issues/ when I do they have corrected it. I guess that's not the practice anymore. Even with a receipt and pictures, they stated they couldnt find the order. They didn't even offer to replace the order. I'm not sure if I'd quite say I wouldn't recommend them any longer, but it was definitely unprofessional of the staff. I tossed both entrees. The food and staff are generally great. We headed to Pattaya Thai on King St for dinner tonight and had a full, wonderful meal. For the apps: Fried Tofu Squares - fried tofu squares served with a sweet chili cucumber and peanut sauce. That peanut sauce was fantastic. Fried Cauliflower - Tempura battered cauliflower bites served with a sweet chili remoulade dip. These are so craveable especially with the dip. Next movie, I want a bucket of these instead of popcorn. For the entrees: Whole Fried Snapper served a big bowl of ginger sauce. The ginger sauce is made with onions, fried garlic, scallions, bell peppers, and fresh ginger. Break off a piece of that beautiful fish, drop it in a spoonful of that sauce, and that's a perfect bite right there. "Crying Tiger" Korean Short Ribs - the short ribs were marinated in lime juice, palm sugar, fish sauce, white soy sauce, and ground pepper. They're grilled to mid-rare and served with stir fried chili oil bok choy and jasmine rice. I ate every bit of these ribs down to the bone. So delicious! For dessert: Homemade mango cobbler with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Highly recommend @pattayathaionking and will be back for those ribs. read more

This place is amazing! Why have I not been here before? We met some friends here to have a small celebration dinner. Arrived at 7pm on a Tuesday, and the place was busy. You notice the takeout orders the most! The smell is strong inside. The beer is good. The food was so delicious. I had the shrimp bacon pineapple fried rice and it was so good. Our server was super sweet, attentive, and busy! She ran all the tables, inside and outside. The place is small but they do have some outdoor seating if you don't mind to be on the sidewalk. We usually have to park up the street as the parking can be a bit tricky, but the walk is well worth it. Please go check out this place! read more

I am just blown away. (Dinner date with the hubby here) I ordered the whole fried snapper by weight with the ginger sauce and rice on the side (?) $38 and vegan fried tofu. Hubby got the beef short ribs and fried cauliflower. For dessert we shared the mango cobbler and ice cream for 2. The snapper was fresh and fried nicely. The ginger sauce was so good I'm taking some home for tomorrow!!!! The vegan tofu was weird, I've never had it before, but with the Thai peanut sauce it went quickly! Delicious! Small restaurant with tight seating. There's 5-6 tables right next to one another with a small bar area and a few tables outside. We've heard good things about this restaurant and thought we'd give it a try as we needed to go somewhere near by. They have quite a large menu. Everything is on the pricier side, especially the crying tiger. I expected a lot more for ~$26(?). The short ribs were quite fatty and we got 3 pieces. The bok choy was a nice change though. The drunken noodles were not like what we were expecting but I recall the description being "spicy version of pad Thai" and that's exactly what we got so our fault. But it comes without the egg... so I should've just ordered pad Thai, spicy. Their "medium" heat is quite mild, which was surprising. Thai tea was bitter but wasn't cloyingly sweet. We paid $50+ for the meal and wasn't quite satisfied/full. read more

Small and intimate restaurant serving very authentic Thai cuisine. This restaurant has a wonderful story. In short, the current owner's parents met in Thailand shortly after the father served in the Vietnam war. Got married, had kids, and moved to Jax where they started this restaurant in 1989! That is an epic movie right there! With tradition and authenticity at their core, the food is amazing. This has become my go-to spot for Thai food in. The restaurant only has maybe 10 tables with a few of those being outside on the sidewalk. Outdoor seating is very nice during the cooler months, not so nice on those extremely hot summer days. They have a lot of options including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free. My go-to items are the curries like the Cracked Blue Crab, which comes with a whole crab!, and the Matsamon, my favorite, a potato, onion, lemongrass coconut milk based curry topped with peanuts. Other favorites are the noodles, the Padt Kee Mau (drunken noodles) is my recommendation. All the staple protein options (chicken, beef, shrimp, pork, tofu, vegetables). They serve Thai beer, which is a great touch. I recommend the Singha - which I would describe as a fuller bud light. A great drink to accompany those spicy rich dishes. I've never had the Thai tea but have heard great things from friends who have. As you can tell, I really like this place. I appreciate that we have something so authentic and consistent in quality here in Jacksonville. read more

Upping the ante to 5 stars because Pattaya Thai On King has turned into my go-to, hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant. I've told so many people about this spot, but often times you'll find me in the corner dining alone, slurping up the most satisfying curry! Still on the fence? Not taking my word for it yet? How about this: last week, while the boys and I were feasting, Jacksonville's most renowned chef, Chef Kenny Gilbert himself, walked in and dined with his family. This is exactly the type of place Pattaya Thai has become; the place where restauranteurs eat. Pattaya Thai has been a staple in Jacksonville for decades. With Russell now at the helm, he's carrying on his mom's traditional dishes, and boy is he such a genuine guy to talk to. I've tried so many items on the menu, but I always come back to my one true love, Panang Curry. If it doesn't blow your mind I don't know what will. It's one of my favorite dishes in Jacksonville. We have tried the muy thai wings , crabrangoon wontons , chicken fried rice, chicken pad thai , chicken pad se ew , tom yum and ,panang curry, . Literally Everything was sooo yummy ! We ordered everything extra hot since we enjoy our food spicy . Been here a couple of times for pick up and each time I had the chicken Pad Thai and Mango Sticky Rice. Both are super delicious! The family who owns it is very kind and personable as well.
