Loved it! Decor is clean, crisp and fresh. Staff was young and really into the food and their job, lots of professional energy. Music played softly in the background. I've been to Lila's for dinner many times. The vegan sushi is to die for and I've brought both friends and family to try it. Occasionally I stop in for lunch and always order the vegan Ruben which is overpriced, but delicious. Recently I decided to try something different and the waiter suggested the seitan sandwich. I was expecting something really nice priced at $19 for lunch. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. There were 4 tiny pieces of various sizes and shapes of thin coated seitan on a cheap bun with loads of pickles, lettuce and tomato accompanied with a salad drenched in dressing. the sandwich was loaded with vegan mayo, so impossible to taste any flavors. I waited patiently for the waiter but he was busy and I was so hungry, I ended up eating most of it. I expressed my disappointment to the waiter. There were no apologies or asking how he could make things better, just a nice smile. I definitely will never return for lunch again. read more

Ate at Lila two nights ago and was very pleased with everything except decor. The service was good and the food was very good. The Brussels sprouts appetizer had a very pleasant, sweet flavor, but could have been cooked one minute longer for tenderness. The sprouts were cooked with a coconut bacon that was good with the sprouts, but on its own tasted like nothing but coconut and I didn't care for that. The mushroom burger was wonderful. Had a little road trip today and I decided to try Lila. The portions are very small and the food was very salty. I decided to try a few dishes including the chips and guacamole. For my main course I had the bison burger. For desert I had the chocolate croissant which was the only item I actually enjoyed. Wandered into Lila's a bit later than dinner time on a weeknight in the summer. Menu just sounded interesting and place had relaxed vibe. Little did we know we'd wandered into such a gem. We both ordered from the "Savor Sarasota 2017" menu, a prix fixe special that some local places feature in the summer. Husband ordered house soup, a bean based white soup with roasted corn, salmon cakes with shrimp and quinoa, and custard with Grand Marnier and berries. I had the white sweet potato wedges with aioli shmear, vegan noodles with tofu, and homemade yogurt with pomegranate seeds, pistachios, and berries. This meal was so divine! First everything was served piping hot. Seasoning was spot on. Soup, a perfect silky texture, potato wedges, a "house favorite" were roasted and dusted with an herb/salt blend that was exactly perfect, aioli--I could have licked the extra from the plate, but resisted. Husband's salmon cakes were perfectly seasoned as well, no breading, just perfect. Tofu on my dish had an incredible depth of flavor. Broth on the noodle dish was flavorful, with slight heat that exposed all profiles of taste. Dessert. Oh my. Custard was smooth and light. Homemade yogurt bowl made my eyes roll back in my head. Waiter was absolutely unobtrusive with attention to keeping a fresh, cold water bottle on the table. Was truly appreciative when we praised the meal, agreeing that he too had been impacted by the chef's approach to fresh, farm-to-table ethos, and deep flavor profiles. I would say this was a dining experience that ranks with the best. Perfection on a summer night on Main Street Sarasota. I look forward to returning. read more

Such a cute hole-in-the-wall place!! Its pretty nice inside too. Tons of vegan options!! I ordered their special for that day. It was a seitan burger with homemade potatoes wedges. The burger was delicious!! The bread was soft and their pickles were so good!! The potato wedges were cooked to perfection and the waitress was nice enough to provide two different vegan mayo dips!! My boyfriend and I LOVED this place! It's a nicer restaurant with a majority if it's menu items being vegan. This made it extremely easy for us to order as we're vegan. We ended up getting the special which was a penne cauliflower alfredo with vegan feta and a bunch of vegetables. It was incredible. I haven't had alfredo that good in years. You wouldn't know it's vegan. We also got a couple small plates and dessert. All was amazing. Oh and one of the desserts we got, the chocolate cupcakes, we're the best vegan cupcakes we had, and we've had a lot! The icing was decadent. We live in Tampa but we will come here again when we're in town. The only downside is that it's a tad pricey, but it's worth it! read more

As a vegan, I was so excited for this place! However I felt a little let down after the meal. Our server was personable and helpful but took a long time to greet our table at the beginning of the meal. Our appetizers, sushi and rice tots, were excellent but the entree course was not as great. My boyfriend got a Mediterranean bowl, that did not have the tahini sauce on it which made it prettt unenjoyable and dry to eat. I got a noodle bowl, which had nice flavor but was a pain to eat because of the small bowl it was served it. read more

Great lunch there today with my sister. Went without a reservation, no problem at 12:30. The restaurant is clean with a very pleasant atmosphere. We looked over the menu, new to us so took several minutes. Joan opted for the Greek salad, came out fresh, fresh, fresh, with beautiful veggies. Dressing was a red wine vinaigrette. I opted for the kale stir fry. This was absolutely delicious. Beautiful veggies, delicious rice, and a great red curry sauce on the side. Will we be back? Absolutely. So 4 stars you wonder? There was a screaming young child there and the screaming was terrible. Diners on either side of us made faces each time the child let out a shrilling scream. I ordered takeout, so I can't comment on the service/atmosphere, but I can say the food was delicious! I ordered the brussel sprouts and the fried seitan sandwich. I've been a vegetarian for 10 years now and typically don't like fake chicken sandwiches, but this one was SO GOOD. It was really crispy, surprisingly flavorful, and came on a delicious bun. The brussels were well cooked (I wish they had been a tad crispier, but that may have been the takeout container's fault and not Lila's), and the cashew sauce was a tasty addition. *vegan* I ordered the Burmese bowl. It came with rice noodles, tofu, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, mushrooms, and a coconut based sauce. The texture and flavor of the tofu and mushrooms was exquisite -- smoky. However, I found that the rest was a bit bland, so I drowned it in hot sauce. The green sauce is the most flavorful and it enhanced the creamy coconut flavor. Also, I wasn't a fan of the water provided bc it had a strange flavor to it. I spent $23 on just that one regular sized bowl of food. I'm not sure if I'd go again. read more

Was not expecting to say this about a Sarasota restaurant but truly one of the better meals I have had. Good vibes and great, intentional food. Don't miss the yam wedges or the gnocchi. The kale/apple salad was also a big hit - perfectly balanced sweet, savory, and nutty flavors. For entrees we had bison steak over a sunchoke purée with roasted cauli and broccoli and some kale and the mahi which came with zucchini and quinoa. Both were a big hit but the bison definitely had the edge - perfectly cooked. We finished with the chocolate mousse which was incredible. I can't wait to come back for breakfast next time I'm in town! If I could redo my order would skip the hummus (not bad just not impressive) and the octopus (is served plain and didn't do it for me). read more

Although I'm still in mourning over the closure of Pomona Wine Bar, I am so glad that Lila exists. I'm always optimistic that I will someday come to love veggies and have it without any meat protein. That really hasn't happened but I have to say that Lila would make me a convert if any restaurant can. We had the Blue Point oysters here to start...very fresh and delicious. I was surprised by how reasonable they were (~$14 for a dozen). Between DH and I, we shared the duck confit and the vegetable (broccolini and tomatoes) fettuccine. The fettuccine was a great accompaniment to the duck. The duck was perfectly cooked so it fell off the bone. It was one of the standout meals this time despite being super casual. Dessert was a disappointment. The coconut chocolate pudding came out of the fridge and was like a coagulated goop of chocolate pudding. I really miss the pot de creme that Arthur used to make at Pomona Wine Bar. Hope that they change up the dessert menu a bit. Can't wait to go back! read more

I went for lunch with my daughter who is vegan. Our waiter was attentive and made great recommendations. My daughter ordered the macro bowl and falafel. She liked both her dishes. She is definitely a volume eater and would not have been full with just the bowl. The falafel was a perfect addition. I had the hash. I was just a bit disappointed because the first ingredient listed was potato and I only found a couple very small pieces of potato. However the house made corned beef was delicious, I loved that it was paired with horseradish and the eggs were prepared perfectly. We can't wait to return with my husband and give it another try. This is an amazing food surprise! Yep this "vegan" restaurant offer chicken and meat as optional.
