Been trying to find the best bakery since moving here in 2014. Don't know how I haven't gone in until yesterday. I've gotten their cookies at Daily Habit Coffee and now I'm in love with their vanilla cupcakes. I'm a chocolate lover, but these were amazing. Their buttercream is the best. We have an event coming up that needs a special cake. Will definitely be going here. read more

I want to like this place cause it's close to my house and local but the coffee is terrible. Brought friend from out of town here out of all the great places we could go in Spokane She wanted an oat milk latte and the barista poured cold oat milk over the shot--didn't steam it, etc. That was after similar incident with me but I thought it was a fluke. I was worried that $10 for a sandwich seemed like too much. However, the sandwich is sizable and comes with a salad. Unfortunately, the house salad dressing reeks of lavender, and I couldn't eat it. Went here with my girls...ordered a cookie, a macaroon, cheesecake, and 7layer bar. I expected more for the $20 bucks we spent. The label in the cookie said "partially hydrogenated oils...beet sugar......" and other ugly ingredients. I thought I'd get better quality from a cute little bakery like this. My daughter felt quite ill after eating the cheesecake. Maybe the temperature was too warm in the case it was stored in? Or maybe the cheap ingredients? The staff was super friendly. The glass doors, windows, and tables were dirty. The screen I had to sign to pay was extremely grimy. Kinda grossed me out. It was a Wednesday afternoon, so a busy day isn't an excuse. read more

I was craving a cupcake after eating Nothing Bundt a week ago; they were friendly with lots of options and a clean location. However, I had half of one confetti (the only flavor I ever eat), and it was hard on the top from not being sealed, the bottom completely crumbled everywhere, and it tasted almost like soap. I was immediately impressed with this place's decor. So beautiful inside! They had so many pastries-- their display wrapped around it was filled with the most delicious looking yummies! There were several tables and chairs if you want to hang out to eat and/or study. They have real food as well but we only purchased dessert - which was amazing! Highly recommend. Just got back from Lilac City Bakery, and what a wonderful experience. There is a nice selection of baked goods, and the person behind the counter was helpful and patient as my wife and I could not decide what treats we wanted to bring home. CONS: I ordered a coffee and asked for dairy alternative and staff looked at me like I ordered a dead rat. Gave me attitude and "had to search" for it. Not really great, was hoping for more. Display case had very old looking donuts which i assumed were for display as there was only one of each. I asked for salted caramel and she grabbed it from the stack, sadly i had to ask her to put back as it had bacon from the neighboring donut and im a vegetarian. First time here, employees were friendly and responsive. The environment was relaxing, quiet, and quaint. I had the first flat bread pizza on the left.. can't remember the name but it had artichokes, olives, red peppers, etc and a salad. The salad was fresh and the house dressing with honey is AMAZING. The flat bread pizza had delicious flavor and was not soggy by the time I got back to work. The employees were inclusive which was refreshing as well. Stopped there for the first time a couple of days ago....I had Raspberry Pie cupcake and some serious joy popped into my life that day! It's made with a light raspberry cake, a fresh, tasty raspberry filling, graham cracker crust and a dollop of raspberry filling and heavenly buttercream frosting on top- nothing overly sweet, just light and perfect! I picked up an Orange- Cranberry scone for breakfast the next day and it was tasty perfection as well...... Took over 30 mins to get a to go order of a cup of soup and two orders of guacamole toast. But wait- then they forgot to give me the soup. So I had to go all the way back in. The menu said gluten free bread was an option, and they didn't have it. I understand it's difficult to work with people with dietary restrictions but come on guys. I had to order and pay for a breakfast sandwich before they realized that they have half and half in the eggs and use butter on the panini press, and I'm dairy free. Won't be coming back. read more

Was in town for a conference and this was the closest place within walking distance. It's very clean and welcoming. Very unique and fresh country chic decor. The lady behind the counter was very sweet. I got a pink champagne macaroon and a drip coffee with soy milk and caramel. The coffee was so smooth, it was like velvet. Full of flavor. I'm not originally from Spokane but I was there this passed weekend and was craving something sweet. So I went ahead and stopped by. Aesthetically, this place is really nice. Very well decorated and can be seen as a cool "hang out" spot. The woman helping me wasn't very friendly. She acted as if it were a chore to get me a brownie and when I tried to strike up conversation she shut me down. It's ok, no big deal, life goes on. Like I said, I bought a gluten free brownie. It was ok. Nothing special. The flavors didn't pop out to me. It did taste maybe a day old. Not sure if it was or if it got like that because they're out in the open. It also had edible glitter on it. Whenever I see things like that, I think, why? Are you trying to compensate for something? And yeah....it was the flavor. Glitter on desserts is a huge NO. Don't do that guys. It doesn't look good and it definitely won't taste any better either. Even if you use it to indicate whether or not it's gluten free or whatever. Just don't. Our wedding was 6/23. We met with the sales rep at Lilac City Bakery and gave her our specifications. The cake was beautiful, but none of our requests for cream cheese frosting were honored. Each layer was to have cream cheese frosting. The outside of the cake they needed to use buttercream icing. Got it. The 6" layer at the top was spice cake not the chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. The buttercream frosting was almost sickening sweet. I would never use them for a large event again. My boyfriend and I live a couple blocks away from Lilac Bakery. We have been in multiple times and love the Mediterranean Panini on their lunch menu. We came in on a Sunday at 12:00, we ordered the panini as well as the Southwest Breakfast Sandwich. Once we had already paid and sat down we were informed that they were out of the panini bread. We asked if we could have the panini on the bread used for the breakfast sandwich. The girl working stated that they were out of all bread but that she could put it on flatbread. We said okay and waited for our food. When the food came out the Southwest was missing the red peppers and gaucamole. I waited at the counter for five minutes before someone came out to help me, I let the girl know and she brought them out to us on the side. Both ice cold. The girls sitting at the table next to us were brought their food 10 minutes after us and to our surprise their sandwiches came out on bread! Even though we were told they were out. Very disappointed, especially since we know this is not normal. read more
