We were so disappointed in our experience with Happy Cake Co. We always like to support locally when we can. My husband and I got married on the 20th of December in a small ceremony to save money for a larger reception next year. We didn't plan on getting a cake bc we had such a tight budget, but my mom wanted us to have something to freeze for our anniversary so she ordered us a cake from here to surprise us and make our day a little more special. She ordered over the phone and then needed to make a change so she called back to change the writing on the cake. She asked the guy who she spoke to if she needed to email the information over and he said no and that he had it covered. My mom decided to email the information over anyway just to be safe. This was 1 month before the wedding. The day of, my dad picked it up, he didn't know what it was supposed to look like, but mentioned it didn't look great to my mom later when we arrived to the venue. When she opened the box it wasn't even close to what she ordered. Not even before she made the changes. We asked specifically for our last name in black writing and a certain font which they said they could do. We received an all white cake without our last name and the writing was not straight nor the font we requested. It almost looked like they forgot about us and went to the grocery store really quick. At this point it was too late to do anything and we were all leaving town for the holidays the next day so we left it in the box at dinner, skipped the cake cutting together and just took it home. We decided we would come talk to them after Christmas. We had a few bites out of it, but ended up throwing it away because it just wasn't very good anyway and by the time we got to talk to an employee, it would have been bad. Dec 26th my mom went in to see if we could have it remade so we could freeze it for our anniversary or refunded. The owner had the most disrespectful attitude saying between "ALL of the calls and emails" he couldn't keep up, and it was her fault. Mind you the cake wasn't even close to her original order either... He said he would refund her if we brought the original cake in (a week later). He kept trying to make her feel stupid with snide comments... Thankfully she stood her ground and didn't accept anything less than a full refund which he eventually gave her after arguing with her and making her cry, saying we should just be thankful they even made it in the first place because they normally don't even do things for "as cheap as $50" As she was walking out he said to her "If they still have the cake you should try it because it's really good..." as I mentioned before we threw it away because it was not very good... The whole experience was just very disheartening. We had heard such good things and maybe this was a one off situation, but we have a reception planned for over 200 people next year and we will absolutely not be ordering from here again. We are also in the event community and won't be sending recommendations here any longer after our personal experience. Making a mistake is one thing. Things happen especially around the holidays, but to push blame and verbally insult another person as a business owner is another. We are incredibly disappointed. This was my first time using Happy Cake and everyone who tasted it agreed that it was the best. They took the pic I wanted and made my boyfriends 40th birthday cake a truly memorable one. I even had to request they delay the baking/pick up by a week due to the weather not cooperating and they were incredibly adaptable to the change. The taste was absolutely amazing (lemon cake with Bavarian cream filling) and even people who find cake too rich for them were surprised with how great it was. I have never used this bakery before but the examples they had on thier website made me feel comfortable. I wanted a checkerboard top and border around the bottom and there was supposed to be a banner on the plate saying happy birthday JJ. The flag was on top of the cake. This is important because I had a car going on top that would stretch across the whole top. The squares were not uniform or lined up (see attached pics). When we addressed the banner being on the top of the cake the person helping us moved it on the side of the cake hiding the border. Not as discussed and previously agreed upon. Then, they tried to hand me a cake with 2 white squares shaded in red where the banner had been on top of the cake (see attached pic). We had them fix this. There was supposed to be chocolate mousse filling. If you look at the picture attached, one of the layers had basically no filling. I called and spoke to the Manager Mike. He defended the uneven squares stating they are "tricks" that they have to do when dealing with sugar. He also stated that he can't oversee every project. He gave me half of my money back. On a "bakery tour" today while visiting Spokane, we stopped in here for another taste (after 4 others!) There were no cupcakes anywhere. When we asked the man who came out, he said "It's my Monday. Super disappointed, felt like there was no passion behind making my cake. I gave them two weeks notice and all the details I could and although on time, they brought it to the counter for me to see and pieces were falling off. They gave me extra pieces that broke before they handed them to me. The artwork did the photos I sent no justice whatsoever. And it was $200. I would have happily paid more for it to look amazing and had something more to give. I thought they were creative people with a drive for this kind of thing, what a disappointment. I went out and bought another cake. Gave this place another try... Got a 4" cake for a cake smash for my one year old. I have them a picture to copy and they did it perfectly. Only $30! I also bought two dozen pink cupcakes $2/ea and worth every penny! People who said they don't even like cupcakes LOVED these. I got asked by everyone where I got them. The chocolate especially. They were super cute and they were able to just whip them up for me in minutes on a whim. Friendlier customer service and a great experience this time around. Got a pharmacy school graduation cake here for my husband. The whole entire ordering process was really easy and the owner is very kind. Usually fancy cake places are risky when it comes to taste but their cake is AMAZING! They have so many flavors and fillings and you can go in for a complimentary cake tasting as well. I went in and showed a picture and they were pretty spot on minus a few details here and there but I was happy with it for the most part as it was a difficult cake to replicate. I had my wedding cake done here! I was disappointed with Just American Desserts, so we decided to keep looking. Found Happy Cake Co. and the rest is history! First, they have recent photos of their cakes. They are exquisite. They look like they could be in a wedding magazine. Second, their samples are delicious. They don't taste frozen and they fill them as you wait. They also put them in little to-go boxes so you can try them at home. The owner (forgot her name:S) helped me design my cake. She had great suggestions, and even recommended other vendors for my wedding. I ended up going with a three-tier cake that served around 137. Due to the hot weather, we went with fondant and it was delicoius-- sweet, but not overly so. After much thought, we decided on our flavors: white with lemon creme filling, chocolate with chocolate mousse, and chocolate with bavarian creme. On our wedding day, the cake looked beautiful and tasted great. We are still eating leftovers five days later and the cake is still as moist as it was on the first day. Our guests raved about it. It's not too fluffy, not too dense, just perfectly moist. I would recommend Happy Cake Co. to anyone! Great company. read more

Seriously don't waste your money here. I made a simple order of a honey pot smash cake and a dozen Winnie the Pooh cupcakes. The cupcakes were supposed to be cream cheese frosting with half having bees and the other half having a little Winnie the Pooh on them. When I went to pick them up (the day of the party) they informed me that they couldn't do cream cheese frosting and instead did a hard coating so they could decorate them. Then I noticed the cupcakes were all bees and not at all what was discussed when placing my order. The guy who gave me my order shrugged and said oh well, I figured you'd be mad but we couldn't find our Winnie the Pooh mold....and no one thought to call me with the changes?! The cup cakes were gross and inedible thanks to the disgusting hard coating. The smash cake looked decent but had LITERALLY three inches of frosting before you got to the cake...not ideal for a smash cake. No one offered to make it right when I called them about how disappointed I was with my order. Grocery store cupcakes would have been better and much cheaper than the garbage Happy Cake gave me. So tldr; horrible customer service and disgusting product that was nothing like what I ordered. read more

Lack of customer service. I ordered the smallest cake they make one week ago and they bring it out and say sorry we didn't have time to do the decoration you ordered (it was a simple decoration I requested). They said there are no guarantees. I'm not sure how this makes sense when I place a cake order, I am not guaranteed to get what I ordered as a paying customer? The cake was so small too that the decor wouldn't have taken hardly any time especially with a week notice. They were going to charge me full price but when I asked, I only got a five dollar discount. I probably shouldn't have picked it up at all. Im hoping the flavor is actually what I ordered but I haven't tried it yet and wouldn't doubt if it was something they had already had laying around as extra. Happy Cake Co. is nothing short of amazing! I e-mailed Diana about making a girly 'Littlest Pet Shop' themed birthday cake for my boyfriend's daughter. I knew I didn't need a HUGE cake, so I requested the smallest 8" cake and asked if a cookies n' creme flavor would be possible (although it wasn't listed on the website). She responded promptly with enthusiasm, saying they haven't made an 'LPS' cake yet, but would love to do so. She said they would be able to do a chocolate cake with cookies n' creme filling, if I brought in oreos for them to crush up into the vanilla creme they have at the shop. The cake was much better than most I've had from other bakeries in town. The chocolate cake was moist and flavorful and the oreo filling was a huge hit with the girls. Diana had me bring in a few 'LPS' toys to decorate the cake with and it turned out beautifully and most importantly, the birthday girl LOVED it!
