On a random Sunday I decided to visit Liljenquist & Beckstead in Westfield Montgomery Mall with real hope. My mom has been buying jewelry from them for years and recommended the store to me back in 2020, so I knew the service would be excellent. I left impressed by the team and even more motivated to keep working toward my dream watch. I've been grinding for over 12 years. My partners and I recently launched our own business, and it has exceeded every expectation. This success has me ready to invest in a meaningful piece the Rolex GMT-Master II "Bruce Wayne" something I can wear every day as a reminder of the grind and eventually pass down to my kids as a family heirloom. Jeff Kaufmann was fantastic. He was super nice, took his time with zero pressure, and thoroughly explained every detail of the Bruce Wayne, including exactly how to set and use the three time zones on the GMT function. His patience and knowledge made me feel like a valued client rather than just another name on the list. The whole team at the Montgomery Mall location was professional and genuinely passionate about watches. This visit alone earns a strong 4 stars. I'm holding the 5th star in reserve for the day I get that lucky call when my Bruce Wayne becomes available. If you're a serious collector who's been waiting, I highly recommend stopping in and asking for Jeff you'll be in good hands, just like my mom has been for years. Two weeks ago, I stopped by Liljenquist & Beckstead in the Westfield Montgomery Mall to inquire about Rolex Datejusts and TAG Heuer Formula 1 watches. I was readily welcomed by Stephen Soto, who was friendly without being overbearing. He proceeded to efficiently show me various Datejusts, pointing out the respective merits of various configurations. With his expert guidance I was able to quickly narrow my preferences, which he carefully noted. Stephen's excellent service continued as I looked at the Formula 1 models. He was especially helpful in selecting an appropriate size and band. When I returned two days later to purchase the watch (see attached photo), Stephen patiently sized the bracelet for a perfect fit. I also met several of his colleagues, all of whom were consistently cordial and obliging. I look forward to returning to Liljenquist & Beckstead in Bethesda for my Datejust and other pieces. Although a new customer, I heartily recommend this store. Watch lost in service - Not much help Entrusted my Omega Seamaster to L&B for service. It was sent to Omega. Because it was lost AFTER servicing during shipping back to the store, I was told L&B would accept no responsibility. Because my watch was a quartz model and Omega does not make them anymore, Omega did not offer to replace like-for-like and only offered a compensation slightly above market value. Since I cannot replace the watch with that amount, I was now forced to spend thousands of my own money if I wanted a replacement Seamaster automatic. I asked L&B (the store I entrusted my watch to) for a modest discount on a new watch (nothing ridiculous, maybe 15% to help me breach the gap) and I would pay close to $2k of my own money. Sadly I was offered NOTHING. The service repair manager was diligent enough to help me communicate with Omega, but as for the store side of L&B, I received zero sympathy. I walked into a brick-and-mortar store to get good customer service. L&B is a 40+ year old business with millions in merchandise and presumably a sizable marketing/PR budget. Since I was told lost watches are an extremely rare occurrence and I had received discounts before, they could have chosen to help me buy a new watch and get a good review. Sadly they chose not to, so here is this one instead. read more

Following a relatively fruitless web search (let's all be honest - websites cannot approximate the impact of an in person presentation), a decision had to be made: wait until the busy holiday season and risk the throngs in open consumer combat or go early and avoid the melee. Strong consideration was given to the Tiny Jewel Box at Connecticut Ave in the District. When making certain kinds of purchases, what I value is personal care and attention. I also appreciate being able to come as I am (I spend all week in a suit - my weekends are for no shaving and baseball caps). This is not to say that I would not have felt completely within my rights to show up as I was...and sometimes, I feel as thought other options must be considered. In any case, getting someone on the phone was not possible (to their credit, someone did call me back but by that point - a decision had already been made). Liljenquist & Beckstead's selection of timepiece options within the brand under consideration were pleasantly comprehensive. It is refreshing having someone that knows the product intimately. As much as I thought I had done my research, there were several facts presented that were new for me. Ultimately, this particular type of product sells itself. Let's be honest - if you are looking for a watch, the $25 Timex at Walgreens cannot be beat. All things said, we were extremely pleased with the purchase decision. It is also nice having a location close to home in case there are any questions or if a steam cleaning is desired. I walked in the store and the most serendipitous event you could possibly imagine happened: they had the exact 2024 model of the 2002 Rolex Datejust I lost last January while scuba diving in Kauai, Hawaii. The salesman, Joseph, and I were both floored by this happenstance event. Needless to say, I wrote a check immediately to buy my replacement Rolex Datejust. Joseph and I will never forget this event. It was almost divine intervention. The watch had just arrived and so had I. Joseph and I will be friends forever. The rest of the staff were great, too, including Mohamed and an Afro-American lady whose name I didn't catch. She was so sweet. This is America working together embracing all our diversity and foreign imports like Rolex. How cosmopolitan! Makes me proud to be an American while embracing something nice from overseas. I have been going to this store for various needs and purchases since I moved to the area 15 years ago. That ends today. I went in for a simple issue that should have been a straightforward transaction. I recently purchased a new necklace for a pendant and the pendant needs the bail either refit or replaced, which is exactly what I asked for. Unfortunately I was handed over to some cantankerous old man who insisted on telling me that I had two options and explaining one that I didn't want (cutting my new necklace) despite my the fact that I repeatedly informed him I was unwilling to that. He finally got to the second option, which surprise, surprise was exactly what I asked them to do from the beginning. Unfortunately the curtness of this person just continued to escalate to the point where I simply walked out as that was clearly what he wanted from the moment I walked in the door. It was incredibly clear that such a trivial thing was unworthy of his attention and more trouble than it was worth for him to even provide the tiniest bit of human decency to a customer. While I'm aware that replacing a bail is not a huge money maker for a jewelry company that specializes in high end jewelry, I would expect them to at least have the decency to treat me as someone who might come back in the future for one of those expensive pieces of jewelry instead of a piece of scum that needs to eradicated. It's a shame that the actions of one person can ruin 15 years of positive interactions but that's exactly what happened today. read more

I'm grateful to the team at Liljenquist & Beckstead in Montgomery Mall. And especially to Mr. Harold, the Sales Manager, and Mohammed, one of the reps, for making my dream of owning my first Rolex come true. I began my search for a new watch to compliment my Hamilton Khaki field about 4 months ago, and I was drawn in every direction, and wanted everything. Then after some research, I shortlisted about 8 watches, including an Omega Railmaster and a Longines Annual Calendar. Different prices levels, I know, but those were the two I was inclined towards. I went in to L&B on a rainy day, and proceeded to look at all the watches there, I tried on a few Omega's, including the Railmaster, but was unimpressed. And with the Longines, I quickly grew bored of that piece. Then I ventured off to the Rolex section and Mr Harold came over to assist me. Without any fuss, he gladly let me try out the Steel 36mm Oyster Perpetual and the Black 36mm DateJust. I also tried out the blue & gold date Submariner (quickly said no to that one). Then had a good conversation with Mr Harold about Rolex, quality, reliability and much more. We parted ways that day with him advising me to review my list of watches, narrowing down my choices, and also offered me a Rolex brochure. I came back home and feverishly started doing research on the Oyster Perpetual and the Datejust. And before too long, my Youtube page was suggesting everything related to either of those watches. And in between, I'd paid L&B a few more visits, hoping to do a direct comparison of the two I'd narrowed down to: White-dialed 36mm versions of both. But never had a chance to. Mr Harold admonished me to be patient. So I went back and studied both using the brochure and the internet. And ended up preferring the OP. On a subsequent visit, while trying the Steel Oyster Perpetual for the fourth time, I made it clear that I couldn't see myself with any other than the white-dialed one, and that the cyclops on the Datejust turned me off the longer I saw it. Then one day (much shorter than what I expected would be a wait going into 2020), I got a call from Mohammed letting me know that the watch was available and I asked that it be held for me to see it, and once Mr Harold entertained me again, I decided to purchase then and there. This long-drawn story is simply to say that the folk at Liljenquist and Beckstead were a great team to work with, being coureous and patient with me, and never leading me astray. I would recommend that everyone looking for a Rolex, or Omega, or Breitling, or etc... pay them a visit. And man does this watch keep time marvelously! My husband had been doing research on purchasing a Rolex and finally decided to go to a authorized dealer to see what they had in stock. After a few failed attempts of finding what he wanted, while we were leaving from one establishment I went online to search for another store to check for more authorize dealers near me. Liljenquist & Beckstead was one of the responses that came back so we decided to give them a call to see what they had in stock and to see if they had a particular watch my husband was looking for. When we called, we spoke to Ms Cindy and were told that they did not have that watch in stock, she told us that she insists us visiting the store when we had an opportunity to see what they had. My husband decided that we were going to go then while we were out. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and asked to speak to Ms Cindy. Ms. Cindy came out from the back room and we informed her that we were the ones whom she just spoke to on the phone regarding the Rolex. She was very happy that we came in and proceeded to show us the Rolex watches they had in stock. My husband tried a few on, but realized the ones they had wasnt what he wanted. Ms Cindy took note of the watches he was interested in along with size and told us another shipment will be arriving in about 10 days and she will contact us when she gets one in stock. Honestly we thought she said give her 10 days but it very well could be the excitement of purchasing a Rolex that caused the confusion. She gave us a beautiful gift bag with some literature on Rolex which was very much appreciated and we left. After a few days my husband was getting very impatient and was even considering purchasing one from the grey market. We made a second visit to the store about 3 days later to see if anything may have changed and to keep us top of mind. Ms Cindy informed us still no change in stock and assured us she will contact us as soon as she gets something. On the 9th day my husband was going to make that purchase from the grey market and before the person could get back to him, he recieved a call from Ms Cindy, and she told him his watch is there. He was so happy that she kept her word and called. She told him whenever he gets a chance to come in he may do so and he made time to go that day. He informed me that the service he recieved when they did the sizing to how much knowledge Mr. Muhammad had when speaking to him about his new watch and giving him valuable information was amazing. He is so happy with his purchase he is already planning to get another one for his birthday. He also cleaned residue from packaging off of my watch and showed me how to set the time and wind it up properly. At my request, Elaine also took a look at my engagement ring and was very helpful in answering some questions I had about the setting and whether it needed any servicing from a jeweler. I have gone to L&B jewelry store to be sized for rings more recently and to browse their wide variety of jewelry on many occasions. Their customer service is very very amazing and their specialists are very knowledgeable, intuitive, friendly, and they really value their customers that walk in the door. I was helped recently by Lisa Wyatt to be sized for rings and to be advised on some David Yurman pieces I was interested in. She was very attentive to detail, suggested some wonderful jewelry pieces, and above all she was very friendly. We talked for about an hour and my needed service probably only warranted 15 minutes of her time, but she truly made me feel welcomed and we had a wonderful chat! I felt very comfortable shopping in the store and I love that I was greeted as soon as I walked in. If you get a chance to stop by here, see Lisa for your jewelry needs! She's awesome! She was also very great at giving advice for ring sizing so she's definitely the person I'd go to again if I needed help or to purchase an item. My parents have also shopped and gotten their jewelry pieces cleaned/repaired at this location for over 25 years and L&B customer service has never changed. I really enjoyed having a store representative tell me that the 41mm Rolex DateJust, advertised on the official Rolex Instagram page, was "a fake" because she didn't know that Rolex made a 41mm DJ on a Jubilee bracelet. She continually referred me the Day Date and even pulled out the Rolex catalogue, in which I simply stated "your store hasn't gotten them in yet, it clearly exists." When I finally showed her the watch on Rolex.com she said "you showed me an all gold watch." At that point I swiftly exited the store. read more

Brought our Rolex watches to be repaired and cleaned. They gave us back the wrong watches. It was a horrible experience. Apparently their watch repair person was not careful and put the wrong parts back onto our watches. They were difficult and never apologized. The person who worked with us acted like this happens all the time, nothing to get upset about. When you are paying that much to get a watch repaired your watch should come back as the one you gave them and it should come back repaired properly.! read more
