I feel bad giving Lily's ONLY 3 stars...when it deserves 5!! The reason for this is very valid...They REFUSE to have regular and productive HOURS OF BUSINESS!!! They close EVERY DAY at FOUR O'CLOCK...right when EVERYONE wants to eat!! Look, If you're LAZY and only want to work 4-5 HOURS A DAY...HIRE A STAFF!!! On our way to the airport and needed a quick stop for lunch. Found this place and WOW. Housed in an unassuming old Taco Bell building, one wouldn't know to expect the best gyro of your life. The food is definitely 5 star worthy. Absolutely the gyro I have ever had. This place is run by a Greek couple - you know it is authentic Greek when the wife wrote my name in Greek! She was such a sweet lady too. Both my friend and I ordered their lunch special consisting of a gyro, soda, and fries or side salad. Surprisingly they did not have Greek dressing for salad. Salad was pretty basic but lettuce was fresh and crisp. The gyro was loaded with meat. The reason for my 4 stars is the bathroom. Have to walk outside to back of the building to use restroom. When I went in the light would not come on. It took me 3x open and close door before the automatic light came on. The lock on door seemed pretty flimsy too. Service My husband asked for no onions and he got onions. When he asked for a new gyro she told him to pick them out! He doesn't like the flavor and he should not have to pick them off. A customer should be happy with his food. We left and I had to eat both of the gyros. read more

I absolutely ADORE this gyros place in Fairview Heights! I don't get here nearly as often as I would like! Being from Chicago I love gyros and love Greek food, including saganaki, spanakopita, dolmades and more. This place doesn't have all my Greek favorites that I remember enjoying in Greektown Chicago, but the gyros here are just as good! They definitely use Kronos products and have their gyros sliced off the rotating spit, none of that flat prepackaged meat mess that looks like bacon slabs. Ugh. Definitely check this family owned business out. It is a nice Greek couple who owns it and their 2 sons work there too occasionally so once again as a huge advocate for small business, please check this place out. I will never set foot back in Lilly's after being a customer more than a decade. Here's what happened. I placed an order for our Monitor Newspaper office. It's an order I placed regularly which included a chicken gyro without tomatoes. This was basically a standing order because one of my colleagues is allergic to tomatoes. I sent my nephew in to pay for it and told him to make sure it didn't have tomatoes. When he returned to the car, he had paid for an extra sandwich because he asked about the tomatoes and it included them. He told them the order wasn't correct, but they made him pay for an extra sandwich. I went back into the restaurant and she said my nephew placed the wrong order and Lily's quote: "We've had problems with him before. I wouldn't lie to you Miss Linda". She continued saying why couldn't he eat the sandwich. He doesn't eat gyros. I said I would give it to a friend and she readily accepted that saying "Yes, give it to a friend." There are several issues with this. First, I placed the order. Secondly, he never placed any orders. Third, when I asked her when he had given them any trouble, she said she didn't know. I purposefully asked that question as I was the person who routinely picked up my orders and he didn't even live in the area for over a year. To say she had had trouble with him before was the worst part and he's collectively described for having a gentle spirit. That's why he paid for a whole separate sandwich that he shouldn't have. It took me a couple of months to return to finally address this. When I returned, I asked that she either give a sandwich to someone else or make one of our sandwiches free. Mind you I was willing to place a complete new order, but to make it right for what occurred surrounding the one sandwich. As I said, I was angry at the employee for lying about the order and then Lilly for not being truthful. No one from my office has patronized them since that incident and after hoping they would make it right I am absolutely not setting foot in there again. read more

There is a whole genre of movies where the male lead (usually hunky but dim witted) spends the first two acts chasing the snooty "hot chick". All along there is a "regular" girl (glasses, braces, and/or bad clothes) who wants to love him and be a good partner for him. Early in act 3, he finally notices her (she changes something, hair down, glasses off, etc.). The rest of the film is them, together, putting the hot chick in her place and getting their relationship started. We got here in July of 2017, we go to the gym in Fairview Heights Plaza. We live in Swansea so we pass Lily's 3-5 evenings a week and some weekends. Introductions makes sense now, right. Today, 19 OCT, 2019 we stopped and had lunch at Lily's. The charm starts on entry, a sweet voice rings out a greeting. You look at the charming, kitschy menu sheets pasted above the window (it looks random, but those are the braces). It is a simple little place, nothing fancy (that's the glasses). I got a medium gyro and small fry, my wife got cabbage rolls and small fry. The food is brought out to you. So here is that scene where the plain girl shakes out her hair, and takes her glasses off (in slow motion). Everything was hot, freshly hand crafted and just plain good. My gyro was packed with tasty mystery cone, sauce, onion and tomato...nearly perfect. The wife liked her cabbage roll, I tasted the simple red sauce (olive oil for creaminess?) it was mild but tasty. I'm sure that in this little cinema romp, Hop House over in O'Fallon is that snooty, mean girl. She could learn a thing or five from Lilly. read more

Amazing gyros! Always prepared and cooked perfectly. Very small and quaint little place. Small parking lot but rarely full except during lunch/dinner hours. You can eat in or take to-go. If you're like me who loves a good onion rings, you've found the best place for it. I tried their onion rings for the first time last night and oh my gosh! That was the most amazing onion rings I've ever tasted so far. You know when you get onion rings and bite into it and the whole onion ring comes out? Yup, almost all the places I've had onions rings are like that. It's soggy, some has too much batter and some none. Lilly's onion rings are well coated and it's so crispy with every bite.
