The restaurant was packed and the servers were hustling, but they were all friendly and did a great job. We started with fried squid (because, when at Edo's Squid..), which was so crunchy and delicious. It tasted great just with a squeeze of lemon, but the marinara they serve it with was great, too. My bf got the carbonara, which was very good, and I got the spaghetti con ricotta, which was out of this world. My favorite thing about good Italian food is that it's just simple things, done really well. The portions are huge, so I'll be eating leftover pasta for a few more nights this week, but I'm glad that I saved room for dessert, as we tried both the tiramisu and the cannoli and were not disappointed by either. The pecan crust was so heavily seasoned with cinnamon that it was hard to taste the pork. The chop was cooked perfectly - tender and juicy. The Mac and cheese was a bit watery and bland. The complementary bread service was excellent - warm, crusty bread with good olive oil and roasted garlic. Even with the "misses" on the food we enjoyed the evening. Rowland is great as a neighborhood restaurant but I'm undecided if we will make a special trip to go back.
