I went to Ocean Crab and I will say this--the owner is very nasty. There's a little skinny Chinese guy (the owner) who acts like no mistakes can be made and he is NOT a man of his word. I ordered food and what I asked for was not even in my order. So I called to let them know. He told me when I come back I could get another plate or something else and I wouldn't have to pay, especially since I live far. When I got there, his whole attitude switched. He got aggressive and said, "why would I tell you that? nothing is free." I didn't even get to eat my food. Now let's talk about the atmosphere. Ever since they started playing loud music in there, it's just not the same. It's NOT kid-friendly at all. It's supposed to be a restaurant, but the mixed vibe is off. It turns into something else at night and honestly, it doesn't feel safe. If you go later when it's crowded, just know what you're walking into. Don't look at nobody wrong, don't drink too heavy, don't bump into anyone--because it can turn into a fight real quick. The ONLY positive thing I will say is Sandra the bartender--A+. If you do go, go to her. She's really good at what she does. But overall, the service, the attitude, and the environment is not it for me. read more

Ended up here to celebrate my cousin's birthday with a pretty large group. It was a Friday and they had a dj and the music was nice but loud. Not sure if they have the party vibe every night but it works if you're celebrating. I ordered a drink and the ocean fried rice, and the wait was pretty long. There was only 1 server for our group and she did her best but 1 more would've been better. I also tried my cousin's shrimp basket which was good. My youngest son treated me to a night out and decided on a seafood boil. Since this spot is close to my mother, figured we'd check it. We arrived around 7:30 so the place wasn't crazy busy but bar seats were taken (lots of booth/table seating). We were seated rather quickly and our waitress brought out menus and took our drink orders. I got a seafood boil combo with shrimp (head-off) and black mussels. I doubled up on the mussels and glad I did because these were perfectly cooked/steamed. After selecting my protein, I went with the lemon pepper seasoning mixed with the cajun.... banging, and of course I went with the spicy spice level. The bag comes with two corn on the cob, potatoes and sliced sausage so if you want egg that's an additional cost. They have a decent cocktail list and I tried the watermelon rum punch... yummy. My sons tried the blueberry lemonade (oh so good---yea I finished it off) and the apple of my eye. They get a thumbs up on the 'dranks'. Not sure if every night they have a live dj but last night they had the infamous DJ Lonnie B on the turntable. Nothing like, good food, good drinks and folks just having a good ole time on the dance floor. I will definitely be back for more! 06/30/23 09:24pm. This place is great for night club vibes. Music is loud but gets you dancing. My wife and I got 2 seafood boil bags. The shrimp was medium size, not Devained. The snow crabs were small( like Kroger brand leftovers). The sauce (Cajun seasoned & Ocean seasoned) had no flavor, watery, not spicy, tasted like light nonsalted butter. The waitress was nice but overly busy, we waited for our check for 30 minutes.....but I guess they do that so they can charge you 18% gratuity after 9pm. We got to restaurant, at 7:45pm. The parking lot was crowded when we finally got to leave at 09:24pm. I guess the only reason this restaurant has a high Star Rating is from the Music...Club Vibes and the drinks( the drinks were good). Overall this place is way Over-rated. I've been to now 4 different Crab Boil restaurants( Twisted Crab/ King Krab/ Hook & Reel/ Crab du Jour ), and this one has no Wow factor. Food is good. The prices for the ocean specials are high compared to the hull street location. I've ordered pick up a bunch of times and food was good and I went back a few times. I once ordered through DoorDash for a po boy and that was terrible. I'm guessing boils are really their specialty so stick to that. I dined in once and the table service was terrible. Waitress doesn't come up refill soda. She took so long I had to get up and pay at the register because she took forever. Solid service and a nice variety of choices for seafood. They keep something going most nights to entertain guest that eat inside. Music is a staple and you get a nice selection of new school vs old school. The bar is a plus as well and the drinks are good. My family typically has the boil with mixed types of seafood and other choices, the ocean sauce is a combination of all the sauces and is the best one honestly, the others are okay but have little to no flavor. Ocean sauce mild or hot is the absolute best. I give it 4 stars because I have not tried any other entrees other than the boils. The food was just alright, but the order was wrong, & although mentioned, no attempt to make it correct or changes where offered. It was simply accept it the way it is. As if I'm eating for free & not a paying customer . Ummm, for the price, it should be as the customer ordered no? It's as if some of the waitstaff & barstaff had this level of arrogance & entitlement that of an upscale Manhattan Establishment or something. Not fully realizing that their little restaurant is located in a tiny, rural, rust belt sized, humble town. The noise level was a cross between a Ballgame & a Nightclub, so there's that. All in all, while the entire experience wasn't as bad as you'd imagine walking across burning coals barefoot, for the time & money spent, you might find a more savory experience dining at Riptide's or another local establishment. I did request the manager or owner give me a call before leaving this review to see if he or she cared enough that a customer had a bad experience, hopes of potential future visits in all that jazz.
