I had the worst experience in this salon. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Here is my experience: - I booked an appointment for a regular mani/Pedi at 6 pm. They started the pedicure at 6:40. For me, it was a very long waiting time. - The woman working on my nails was rough, and the process was painful. She kept telling me that my skin was too dry, and she was acting the way that it was my fault that the process was painful. My fingers started bleeding, and they didn't have the material to stop the bleeding. - I ended up leaving the place without Nail polish because of the bleeding, and also, it was too late to continue. I saw Jackie's work on Instagram. She did mini Matisse inspired nail art on a set of long, almond shaped nails. I had a special visit to the Art Institute coming up, and I knew I had to get the same nail art done. I hadn't had nail art in years; typically I opt for a solid color. I made an appointment with Jackie and when I arrived she was still working on another client. It was late in the day, so delays are understandable. She greeted me kindly and made sure I was able to get some things started while she finished up the other client. Jackie's colleague, Lena, did most of the manicure and base color. Jackie took care of the art part. My natural nails were not as long as the photo I had seen of Jackie's other Matisse nail art, but she made it work! She recommended an oval shape, so Lena shaped my nails for me. I usually opt for a more square shape, but it was nice to change it up. Do not waste your time or money. I came here for a dip mani and gel pedi while visiting. I didn't have time to go to my regular place because got too busy before leaving for Chicago. I regularly get my nails done every 2-3 weeks and this was the WORSE manicure I've ever had. My cuticles were not touched and she didn't bother cleaning them up. My nails were cracked and chipped one day after getting them done. Two days later I have a broken nail, when I get dip manicures I've never had a problem with my nails breaking or chipping, especially this soon after getting them done. I don't mind paying for the up charges for gel or dip because they usually last longer and don't have issues with chipping so a big disappointment when you pay over $120 with a terrible wasteful job. This was hands down the worst pedicure I've ever had. The woman (not Lily) did not say hello back to me and you could tell she did not want to be there. She didn't ask about the temperature of the water... it was ice cold. Throughout the salon there is rummage tucked everywhere and I notice fingernails on the pedicure table rest. The most terrifying part of the experience was the lady slammed my foot down 3 times in a row very angrily (bc I was not placing my foot correctly!?) She also cut my nails so short that they hurt the following days after. Lily did do an ok job of my finger nails but it's not enough for me to ever consider going back. I only gave them one star because the pedicure was goods done by Tim, now on to my nail- I originally called for the full set and pedicure - the lady explained she wouldn't have time I explained I had an appointment she then said everything would be fine. She then gave me to Tim to complete my fullset- Tim after glueing tips to my nails he started to shape them. I tried to explain several times that they were on crooked and leaning he told me my fingers were crooked not the nails. Tim then told me he does not know how to do long nails after he already glued and failed to shape them in coffin shape. The lady said she will take over after she finished another lady's full set. I was pushed to the next chair while 2 other women who came in after me were served. The lady then took me and explained she will not fix the shape Tim did- she can't do my design because it will take too long seeing that it wouldn't would be fixed I decided to leave. My appointment was at 1:30 I did not Leave until 5:30 with not finished and crooked nails. It's honestly either a hit or a miss here. This would be my 3rd or 4th time here. Previously they cut my finger when trying to trim off the skin on my cuticles. This time my no chip mani is coming off at 6 days from getting it. I have gone to other places where it has lasted a whole month. They worked on numerous customers simultaneously...I was here for 3 hours. The acrylics took absurdly long, but I did not complain. I was jabbed w the drill in the finger while they were working. I had to ask for a discount for the pedicure..$3 off! Yippee. Now I am back here a week later getting them removed bc 2 nails fell off in 5 days and a third cracked....and guess what they started helping and now I'm waiting bc they're working on other ppl. First of all, I want to say that Jackie does have skills when it comes to doing nails--she's very quick and funny and good at what she does. This isn't to criticize her work as a nail tech, it's the entire experience of going to this salon and the utter disrespect she has for her clients. She used to manage and own the nail shop. However, she has since passed the torch and there is new management and she completely stopped caring about her business or her clients. I called Jackie on the phone to make an appointment for a full set manicure and she told me to come in the next day. I walk in the door after driving 30 minutes to come just for my appointment as she was just getting started on someone else. She told me she actually didn't have time for me and passed me onto someone else. I had been coming to this nail salon for YEARS and was a loyal client. Jackie basically said "yeah, sorry" and the woman in the chair told me she had her appointment booked a long time ago. I was livid because I made this appointment and came specifically to see Jackie. I couldn't believe that she just looked at me and goes "I don't have time now." And didn't even offer to do my nails next, she just told me to go sit at another table and wait for this other guy to finish. I felt really annoyed and like my business didn't matter. She does full sets and fills and only allots 30 mins per appointment--rather than an hour--and often does two people at once, sliding back and fourth between customers. If anyone is late it messes up her schedule so she has zero wiggle room and makes it clear she doesn't have time and passes you off. Bottom line: Jackie does a decent job but the paint chips a week and a half later (not 2-3 weeks like most good full sets/no chip polish) and the salon itself is not clean or pretty or sanitary. There's nothing luxurious about the experience and the place itself isn't pretty. It's a total dive in wicker park. I will never come back here after being so disrespected. Made an appointment the day of for 3 of us and they let us come an hour before closing (got turned down by 2 other salons that were unwilling to see us then). Two of us got full acrylic sets with gel and one of us just got a clear coat of polish (basic, lol). The only downsides were that we didn't get to sit near each other during the manis (which is typical in my experience since each technician has their own work space). They also didn't have the cleanest workspaces... but honestly idgaf, that was the chillest salon I've ever been to. The technicians were all funny and cool and I WANT TO BE THEIR FRIEND. I'm so bummed. I went Friday for a dip manicure and loved Ariel and her sweet daughter. Ariel did an awesome job on my nails. On Saturday I noticed one nail popping off. So Sunday I went right when they opened at 11am to be turned away. I asked if someone could please glue the nail on, I didn't need a whole new manicure or anything. They told me Ariel is the only one who does dip and to come back tomorrow. As much as I love getting my nails done, I don't want to be spending 3 days a week at the salon. Of course I get home and the nail pops off after seriously 48 hours of having them done. I would honestly rather pay the $55 price for a dip manicure and have it last three weeks than pay $40 and have to continue going back to get it fixed. I should have known because while I was there for 1 hour getting my nails done, 2 women came in needing fixes. Everyone was kind but I do have a few suggestions/critiques for the salon: - Playing some music would go a long way. It was dead silent in there aside from the noise of a fan. - The place wasn't the cleanest. Everything from the tables to the baseboards could use a cleaning. A runner by the front door could stop people from dragging in snow from outside. - The tools used on my nails were promptly placed back in the same tool kit leading me to believe they were not sanitized. - The woman removing my nails was rough and kept trying to scrape it off instead of letting them soak in the foil for a moment. Two experiences nail "techs" watched him struggle to even apply acrylic for over an hour. They were very clearly telling him what to fix and trying to see if he was doing it right. It took hima very long time to ALMOST get the shape right. Now here comes the kicker. I SHOWED THIS MAN AN IMAGE OF THE STYLE I WANTED. IT WAS FROM THEIR OWN INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT. He asked someone else about it and then said the couldnt do it because the didnt have "the color". I DIDNT WANT THE COLOR! I WANTED THE DESIGN! Then preceded to basically force no chip on me. I was livid. And I am livid still. I left a tip only because the trainee was nice. They always treat me like a second class citizen when i go there and this is just TOO EXPENSIVE for you to treat people that way. AND ITS CERTAINLY TOO EXPENSIVE TO LET A TRAINEE DO MY NAILS. Went to them just for the crystals on my index fingers (manicure done elsewhere) and he literally put them on crooked. This is my second visit there and still not a completely satisfied one. However considering this was only 2 fingers, I didn't think they could screw it up. Well, after the first finger- nail tech (guy) showed me and he had to remove it which messed up my no chip because he glued it on crooked. When I corrected him on the first one.. he didn't even bother to show me the second one finger applying a top coat. Disappointed. Never going back to this nail salon. I would give them no stars if that were an option. On the day of my service I was excited that the nail tech/owner/manager was able to squeeze me in. She stated that I need to new full set of acrylic over my natural nails, which I agreed to. She was done in less than an hour which I thought was wonderful due to my extremely busy schedule. It's 2 days later, and I have 2 broken nails on my right hand - including the one she "repaired" with a fake tip. I called the salon to explain what happened and the young lady who answered the phone tells me that it must have been something I did to cause my nails to break. (I haven't washed one dish or done anything unusual or extra with my hands.) Then, she continues to tell me how the tech who did my nails has a lot of clients, and that it MUST be something I did. I furiously hung up on her. That's not something you tell a NEW, first time client. I felt very disrespected. I've been getting my natural nails done by various nail techs and this was the worse experience I've had. The 2nd worse at least lasted a week....The lack of customer service by the person on the phone made the experience worse. UPDATE: 2 weeks later I have a total of 4 broken natural nails - two on each hand. Acrylic is cracked on several nails. I'm extremely pissed and believe this lady has no idea how to do acrylic nails or that she possibly missed some steps. I arrived at her shop with 2 hands of long nails and now I need to cut them all off and start over. I work in the beauty industry and am so embarrassed by my raggedy hands. Beautifully manicured HANDS DOWN, the best mani-pedi I've ever gotten. I stopped by Lynamy Nail & Beauty Supply to pick up a couple bottles of essie and OPI just in case their colors were lacking. No need to do that. They've got rows and rows of essie and OPI along with the newest color selections laid out on one of the tables (OPI has a collection titled MUPPETS! How cute!). Only certain colors are available for no chip manicures but they perfectly matched the color I chose with OPI's You Don't Know Jack (charcoal gray)-love it! This nail salon is cute, clean, and truly put me in relaxation mode. The massage chairs here mean business. You'll get a strong rolling from your neck all the way down to your bum! Rose took care of my pedicure and really took her time. She gives a strong and long sugar scrub followed by another massage with lotion after the rinse. Irma was amazing at giving me my first no chip manicure. I have pretty thick cuticles but she took the time to really clean them up! She was very considerate about my time and asked how much time I left on the meter, and made sure that I made it out in plenty of time. She would alternate drying each one of my hands under the UV light while working on the other so my nails were good to go as soon as walked out the door. No worries about scratching them on my keys or my zipper. No chip mani $30. They guarantee their work so come back if your nails chip within 2 weeks. Regular pedi $23. As a regular customer there! I'm extremely disappointed for the service I received there, this past Friday the 17th. I asked to the "basic combo" that would include, a pedicure & manicure, for $40 plus the tips that I usually give them for a service they provided to me, however, I would not go back to this place, I struggled with this nail technician, who would not responds to what I wanted done to my nails, so, my ring finger was so badly clipped that was bleeding. The sad thing about this its that as I was having difficulties communicating with this nail tech other technicians wouldn't even try to intervene to help with the situation.
