I'm going to get some hate mail for this one.. it was just... OK. I did a boil bag with one pound of headless shrimp, corn, potato and sausage in the bag. I found the combination of sauce in the bag to be just too salty. All the components in the bag were great just the sauce (meh) Not one to let good seafood go to waste, I took the bag back to my kitchen and poured out some of the sauce. I added some juice from a lemon, a little garlic, onion, a dash of smoked paprika and old bay and NOW we have action. The food was pretty good for what we went there for. It's a regular crab boil restaurant and the crab were as expected in the bags and it was pretty tasty. We went in on a Wednesday evening and we had the place to ourselves literally. It appeared clean and in good order and the waitress there helping us was very helpful. I had a craving for seafood and there's nothing better than a seafood boil. The Mad Crab offers a variety of seafood choices including shrimp, lobster tail, crawfish and of course, crab legs. I decided to create my own boil to include a pound of head off shrimp, crawfish, and black mussels. I chose to blend all of their spices together with medium spice level. Customer service was great - still only takeout due to Covid precautions. Even though I ordered there, my food was ready in about 10 minutes. Yummy buttery garlicky goodness from Mad Crab in Oak Park. I got the lunch special with crawfish and shrimp and it medium spic with garlic butter sauce it had a kick but was so oh so good!! Service was quick restaurant was clean and my order was steaming hot when I arrived. They also sent lots of napkins and gloves with my order which was definitely needed for the buttery goodness!! I gave it 5 because of the taste and freshness of the food!! Wish they would've had drinks displayed because I was looking for that in my rush to get back to the office. I ordered Tilapia fish, got home to discover it was Cat fish. I don't like Cat fish at all. I am very disappointed. I called the restaurant to let them know and the "manager" said all she can do is tell the chief and if he say it's Tilapia, that's what she will go by. Con: However the young lady at the front collecting payments for pick ups decides who she provides any customer service to on an individual basis obviously. Have been craving crawfish for forever and decided to order a pound and a half of crawfish with corn and potatoes on DoorDash. Kind of pricey (around $35) but I am definitely not disappointed! I requested Cajun and lemon pepper seasoning with garlic butter on the side. Came in a plastic bag and with a bib which I appreciated. The crawfish were still warm, jumbo and fresh. It was a little more oily than I am used to but I think that only added to the lusciousness. Yummy! read more

We had a great dinner from the Mad Crab. Everything in the order was right. They were taking precautions for COVID. The only downside was the fried oysters. I've had them better. We had a combo with a garlic butter sauce with snow crab, crawfish, shrimp, clams. It was all awesome. The fried basket with calamari, shrimp and oysters was all good but the oysters. We could have used some cornbread but they don't have that. All in all, we'll be back. Glad to have this place in the neighborhood. read more

Holy smokes. This place is a new hidden gem if you love seafood boils or crab legs. Go for butter and garlic and whatever seafood you crave then prepare to have your mind blown. Want to be a superhero at your next tail gate or pot luck? Get 2lbs of oysters in garlic and butter, buy a loaf of bread, and watch the stampede after you simply dump it into a big bowl. The workers here are very rude. My boyfriend and I walked in to place an order at exactly 9:00 pm(website states they close at 11) and were told in a very rude tone that we can't place an order since it is after 9:00. The guy was just super rude and didn't care about how he talked to us. He said "we have to go home", like we were not there at exactly 9 pm. I did not enjoy the way I was talked to and I guess I will never try this place because I don't enjoy the lack of customer service and rudeness I experienced at this establishment. I forgot my mask, ran back to the car and run back, A young lady turns the open sign off and comes out and to tell me they take their last order at 8:30pm. I absolutely love this place. Have been coming here for about 2 years and every single time it gets better and better. However sometimes when I get all the spices mixed together the butter can be much but nothing like dipping your seafood in that delicious juice. Also the workers are always welcoming and I don't think I will ever find another place to order my seafood from again! 10/10 recommend this place if you want to get seafood in a bag and don't know where to go. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! My order was wrong and they were argumentative and rude when it came to solving the issue. They neglected to put an item in my bag that was on my receipt and I paid for. I feel they based their reaction on me being African American. When I asked for my money back, at first they refused until I became extremely angry and refused to accept that. Finally they gave me my money back instead of just giving me the item that was missing while their order taker, another African American, consistently told them that my order was wrong and missing an item.
