Sometimes I crave basic, Americanized Chinese food and this hit the spot. Co-workers recommended this for week day lunch and they picked up our orders. Very busy lunch business for take out. I had the lunch combo of Kung Pao chicken with peanuts and an egg roll. I enjoyed my meal and it was a sizable portion for lunch. It's definitely on our list to return. read more

Update. I stopped here today and decided to try something different. They had a special of black pepper chicken. Got the combo with fried rice and egg roll. I must say this food was delicious. I love their egg rolls anyway, so had to order an extra egg roll. Their egg rolls will remind you of what Chinese food tasted like back in the day ! Love them. Anyway. Back to this black pepper chicken ... it is crispy fried chicken pieces tossed with Szechuan peppers and onions and a black pepper sauce. This was freakin delicious and unexpected. ! Every time I've ordered food from their establishment I've always gotten exactly what I ordered, their food is absolutely exquisite and delicious, anything on their menu is delicious. The service at lim fongs is also amazing, all the workers are kind and welcoming, always polite. The best part of lim fongs besides the food is the interior! Generally not a place you would want to sit and eat. Best food in the area. The chicken is juicy and not over cooked, just tell them to fry it medium. The chrome fried rice is good as well and the vegetable roll and the moo shu shrimp and beef. That's all I order from Chinese restaurants so that Ms what I can comment on. Service is good but only think is when they get busy I'm a Friday or Saturday they do not offer delivery which can be difficult if you're are not able to pick up. I use to love this place, but after two different recent orders I definitely won't be returning. I'm not sure if the business is under new management or different cooks. The quality of the food has deteriorated. My family was very disappointed and this was our second bad experience. We use to love this place. We ordered house fried rice, pork lo mein, wonton soup, and dumplings. The rice was very dry as if reheated and not fresh, and their was literally no chicken, pork or shrimp and hardly any vegetables. The lo mein had a strange taste I can't describe, and hardly any strips of pork. The dumplings and soup were fine. In addition, each time I asked for condiments like hot mustard or soy sauce I got one packet, and no fortune cookies. For the price, I expect better quality and what I ordered. read more

A lot of people I know swear by this place, claiming it is the best Chinese food in the area. Personally I think the food is pretty good, but really nothing spectacular. I have never had a life altering experience while eating it, nor have I achieved Buddhist enlightenment because of it. It is tasty and belly filling. Lim Fong's was a staple growing up in Mt. Holly. Most of their food is standard "Chinese" fare. Not spectacular, but it is what you expect it to be. However, for whatever reason, their Wonton soup is spectacular. Instead of the watery chicken broth that I've now learned is typical, Lim Fong's wonton soup comes in a darker beef broth, and is filled with a generous serving of greens. Whenever I'm back in town, I'll stop to pick up a quart of this soup to take home with me for later. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Chinese food has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, but I no longer feel guilty. I'm obsessed with chicken and brocolli and theirs actually tastes and feels pretty healthy. Doesn't taste fried, greasy, isn't covered in oil, but still has flavor. It's not heavy on my stomach and doesn't taste like the typical fast food, greasy, gross Chinese food. Sad to report that Lim Fongs Mt. Holly (AKA my favorite Chinese take-out restaurant since childhood) has gone downhill in a very big way. We typically order take-out from here 2-3 times per month.....but the food lately has become so bland, tasteless and EXTREMELY greasy. Last night's order of beef egg foo young was nothing but greasy slop. The chicken & broccoli was overcooked and swimming in a slimy sauce. I'm afraid this was the last straw for this loyal customer of 30+ years. FYI - I'm now taking recommendations on where to find good Chinese take-out in the Lumberton/Mt. Holly area. read more

Have been ordering from Lim Fongs over 40 years. We ordered tonight & holy cow- the food had no flavor. We ordered the spicy Shrimp & Chicken Hunan Style. Apparently the Hunan was omitted. Not sure what happened to the Hot & Sour Soup or the House Special Fried Rice- just bland. It really saddens me as their food was at one time the best around. read more

Have to update my review. I've been a vegetarian for 10 years now. They have given me chicken in my tofu. And twice now pork dumplings instead of veggie. On the 2nd occasion I asked them to be sure they were not pork as I cannot eat them. They still gave them to me. Their excuse for the 1st mix up was their supplier gave them the wrong ones. We moved to the Mt holly area and tried every chinese restaurant in the area. We had read the reviews and tried this place second. Needless to say if you've had good Chinese food you know that this place is nothing to rave about. Their fried rice was lacking. Everything else we tried was just ok.
