I would really love to write a good review, especially since times are hard right now and help is hard to find so I want to be a little more understanding...but food and service were both so bad. The food was not fresh. I had the spicy beef stir fry #7 on their lunch menu. The beef was soft and mushy, and the rice was hard. My other 3 friends ordered the pad Thai and they were all mushy and watery. They left more than half uneaten. The spring roll and Thai tea were good and sadly those were the only things I enjoyed from this place. I hope they can work on improving the quality of their food. I've ordered from here a couple of times and remember it being pretty good. My friend remembered their pad Thai was pretty good too so maybe we caught them on a bad day. read more

Had dinner with a great friend from my working days here last Tuesday. We had edamame and eggplant for appetizers and then pad Thai and Spicy beef for entrees. Food was good and service was prompt and professional. Got seated into a preferred table with a window to Main Street and the evening activities. I have been spending money weekly here for years now. I can't fathom this place not having 5 stars. I am 100% a food snob, always looking for the best and this place exceeds the mark. Recommend the panang noir and the clay pot. What I would really like to give them is a 3 minus. Great service, good appetizer, very mediocre main dish. The good: The atmosphere was nice. The service was prompt and polite. The spring rolls were pretty decent and my wife really enjoyed her pineapple fried rice. The bad: My benchmarks for a Thai place is their curry and the Pad Thai. I tried the red curry. First, it was yellow which is odd for red curry, but the server assured me that it was red. It had 2 peppers beside it in the menu to show it as medium spicy. It was spicy like white bread. There was very little flavor at all in a traditionally spicy dish. It was also completely full of raw bell pepper slices. I like bell pepper, but this was a lot and they were not cooked at all. So I went to Spartanburg (Sparkle) City with my wife and friends. We had the most amazing time shopping and talking to the town folk. We had asked one lady (Tammy) at Gear 2 Go about a good place to eat. Tammy automatically suggested Lime Leaf to us not knowing all along that we like food from the Far East. We headed that way without hesitation. The Lime Leaf is located in the center of this town that has such a nice small town feel. This is the type of town I would soon like to live in. Nice shops and a town drugstore leading up to the restaurant. We were greeted appropriately and the waitress sat us in a nice size booth. Thank God because we were about to grub down. The waitress brought out the lunch complimentary appetizers (spring rolls and a real light rice and meat soup). I don't know if I was hungry but I know that the appetizer method did what it was supposed to do which was make us salivate In preparation for out main course. I did partake in a non alcoholic aperitif. The Thai Iced Coffee was all that. I ordered this Clay Pot (Mai Pham) that had all of the three essentials to the bouillabaisse style cookery that a foodie can't live without (Shrimp, Mussels, Scallops). The vegetable were all fresh but what was important was the broth associated with this dish. The broth along with the cilantro, fresh ginger, bok Choy and mushrooms created a fragrant in your mouth that was like a symphony. You have to try this place. Four of us started with four appetizers. We got the edamame, summer rolls, spring rolls and lettuce wraps. The lettuce wraps filling didn't look good but tasted delicious. The summer rolls came two to an order. We asked for a knife to cut them but it never came. We used a spoon. Not easy. The fried spring rolls came three to an order; I didn't get one. The edamame were good. Our waiter was clearly not on it that night. He should have told us the number in the orders and suggested upping both rolls. When Our four appetizers were served; he did not bring plates. We waited looking at them for a long time until we got plates. Someone had to actually get up and say something. For my main I got the yellow curry with shrimp and potatoes. It didn't look so appealing but tasted delicious. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. There were a lot of crunchy onions and soft potatoes too . For dessert we all spilt the fried banana and ice cream and the mango sticky pudding. The fried banana was good and had co but on it. Although no one liked the mango sticky pudding, I liked the large amount io fresh mango served with it. So my mother & I gave this place another go this weekend while I was visiting. I feel I need to up the rating a tad, mainly due to the stellar service and the new entree I tried. We started off with the fresh rolls, which were stuffed full of veggies and had a yummy plum sauce on the side. Our server was cheerful and quick. Our appetizer was on the table shortly after we ordered and our beverages were nearly always full. Can't beat solid service with a smile! For my meal, I went with the Emerald Shrimp which was served on a massive plate full of jumbo shrimp, with garlic, onions, bell peppers, broccoli, and came with a side of white rice. I asked for the highest spice level, but that didn't seem to do the trick. After I asked the waiter about it, he brought me the lovely spice tray (see photo) so I could amp up the heat on my dish. Toss on a little hot sauce, some pepper flakes, and some hot oil substance, & I was set. This delicious dish will likely be a repeat for me at some point in the future. I love the location, the staff, and the wide variety of the menu. Always worth a visit if you're looking to try something out of the local norm. read more

This place is the worst "Thai" food I've ever had In my life. All of the meat was soggy and over sauced with a horrible thick consistency. When I let my server know I didn't like it he took it back and at that point the kitchen manager came out and said I Ate half of it(I literally had 3 maybe 4 bites). I wasn't trying to be confrontational I just wanted swap the meal out with something else. The manager kept insisting that I pay for 50% of the meal.. I finally told him I wasn't going to pay for it after he made a big scene in the middle of the restaurant. Our server was amazing but that was the best part about this restaurant. Lime Leaf is really good. It was redecorated a few years ago and looks nice and upscale for essentially being a small downtown cafe. First of all, the front table overlooking the street is a great little private section, and our party of four was seated there. We enjoyed edamame, spring rolls, and other apps, along with some of the specialty cocktails. They are delicious, I had two. Apps were also good. For dinner, I got spicy fried rice with chicken and it was a nicely sized portion. Very tasty, too! Lots of flavor but not so hot as to be inedible. C got pineapple fried rice with raisins and peanuts, which was served in a whole, huge half pineapple. Yes! It was very good, too. Presentation made the food as fun to look at as to eat. I went into Lime Leaf a couple of weeks ago for my aunt's birthday. We had an amazing time! I had the tofu green curry and it was so good, I was craving it by the time I went to bed that night. Mmmm I want to bathe in it! lol We all split the fried banana dessert, which was sliced banana, breaded and fried, with ice-cream. It was drizzled with a white creme icing and topped with coconut flakes. The coconut was perfect! The ice-cream didn't exactly compliment it, but it's almost a staple with desserts nowadays. It was $7 for a personal bottle of champagne. I got about a glass and 1/4 out of it. It tasted better than I was expecting. The waiter was good at what he did and didn't try to rush us or ignore us once it started getting busy. Afterwards, we took a stroll around the square and then headed to the cigar bar a few doors down. We had a scotch and cigar under the lights in their hidden patio section. I recommend them both. I came here for dinner, I love a good Thai restaurant and wanted to give this place a try. When you first walk in you will notice the decor is in keeping with Asian influences. There are a combination of stand alone tables and booths to accommodate any size party. The staff was extremely friendly and the service was really fast from taking the order to bringing drinks and the meal. It wasn't overly loud so you could definitely have a conversation without having to over talk the room noise. I tried the Thai cashew chicken, it was fine but the tangy tomato based sauce was overwhelming and a little watery. It came with rice and it was a large plate. The Hurricane Morgan was a nice cocktail, made with Mango Vodka, Captain Morgan Rum, Orange juice, Pineapple juice and grenadine. It was quite tasty. I was absolutely taken away by this place. The waiter was very attentive to my order and thought to ask if I wanted a vegan spring roll- Which was excellent, both in texture and taste. I ordered the green curry with tofu and had the option to have it without fish sauce. In addition, I got to choose how I wanted my tofu done, and which kind of rice I wanted as well. This also came out fantastic. Perfect amount of heat, lots of veggies, plenty of tofu for my liking. The rice came separate and the veggies+tofu were a bit long and were not fun to cut with a spoon and angled bowl, but that's fine by me. It didn't get in the way of me loving the dish. Staff was friendly, decoration was fairly tasteful and richly colored, music was nice as well. I'd absolutely suggest this place as a Thai restaurant to stop by when in Spartanburg! read more

This was our first time visiting the restaurant and will likely be our last. Ordered tofu lettuce wraps, green curry with veggies and pad see ew, which was recommended by the waiter. Lettuce wraps had zero flavor other than salt, tofu was incredibly mushy, perhaps raw. Green Curry with veggies was very water-y and light on flavor. Veggies didn't taste fresh. The Pad see ew seemed to have very soft but very over cooked tofu, which produced a stringy-chewy texture. Definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone that wants good authentic Thai food. read more

Lime Leaf might be my favorite lunch spot in downtown Spartanburg. It's a five minute walk from my office, the service is always quick and excellent, and the lunch prices are a steal. For the low cost of about $8.00 you get a little soup, a spring roll, and your chicken or veggie main dish which is just kind of unbelievable to me. Top that off with one of their sweet Thai iced coffees for dessert and I'm one happy camper. Going for dinner is a little bit heavier on the wallet, but the service is so good that I don't really mind the prices. It's not crazy expensive, but for a young working professional like myself it is on the more pricy side of places I'll eat regularly. And I do eat here regularly. I'd say I'm at Lime Leaf once every couple weeks. My favorite is the panang neur with chicken. It gives me the little kick I want without overloading my senses. I know I mentioned it a couple other times, but I cannot say enough about the service here. I have never once had a bad experience with the servers. They are all fun and charming people who take care of their guests. I would come back just for that, it's a bonus that the food is good too. read more

I love Thai food so I had somewhat high expectations for this place. I wasn't impressed. The food was mediocre at best, the pricing too high for the quality of the food, and the service was subpar. It is a small locally owned business so I always hope for those places to do well. First the food and pricing...I don't mind paying $10-15 for a plate off noodles, but I expect them to taste soft and flavorful. I went here for a date and ordered the Pad See Ew (my favorite thing to order when going to a Thai restaurant for the first time). The noodles themselves seemed a little too dry and not soft enough. The dish itself just seemed to lack flavor. I was particularly hungry when I went and when I took my first bite, it wasn't in the least bit satisfying. Secondly, the service was a bit of an issue. I got here around 5:45pm and the dinnertime rush had not happened yet. The service was slow. My date and I ordered one appetizer and two entrees. We sat, talked, and waited. Our waiter delivered our entrees and immediately left. No appetizer. Didn't stick around long enough for us to ask. We tried to get his attention, but sadly he didn't see us. By the time he reappeared to refill our drinks, we were already half way done with our food and thought it a moot point to even mention the appetizer at this point. It never appeared nor was there any mention of it from the waiter. Overall, the food wasn't horrible but it wasn't amazing. The waiter wasn't mean or rude, just not that great and forgetful. To be fair, he could have just had an off day or simply have been new. I'm willing to give this place another try before writing it off completely. read more

We are staying at my sisters house tonight and I have to whisper while I write this review. When we were kids we used to go to Bangkok Cuisine in Mid-City New Orleans and it has pretty much made every other Thai restaurant on the planet taste like some Regular Type of Cracker. My sister meant well when taking us to Lime Leaf but the only thing well about it was our blue drank which was all blue and all fun to drink on. We ordered duck which tasted like a duck who had some regular old duck life - walking around, looking at other ducks, swimming all normal. The duck I've had at other places (Bangkok Cuisine, Herb Saint) tasted like a duck who was a superhero or the president of all ducks or a superstar in the duck athlete world. I can't tell my sister any of this because I don't want to hurt her feelings, because I suspect she might have some sort of ownership deal worked out with the Lime Leaf managers. In Spartanburg on business and like a dummy, I ate at the Marriott restaurant 3 out of 4 nights. I hear word about a great Thai place on main and I'm all over it. The atmosphere was nice. Small, dimly lit space conducive to good conversation. The wine list was good. They had a good-looking menu and I would definitely come back again to try other entrees. I ordered the jalapeno chicken, since it had 3 chili peppers next to the name, indicating maximum spiciness. It was tasty and hot, with big chunks of crispy jalapeno throughout. My colleague ordered the volcano beef, which is topped with crispy onions and set aflame! It looked awesome, and he looked delighted with it. Passing through on a road trip and on a serious mission to find noodles, my friend and I meandered into downtown Spartanburg hoping to try Monsoon Noodle House... DENIED. We walk up and there's caution and danger tape all over the place like a bad crime scene. Apparently there was a fire there in March - upset and wondering why we came to this middle of nowhere town, we walked down the street to find food. Anywho, we still want some damn noodle and see Lime Leaf off in the distance and decide Thai will do. Best. Coincidence. Ever. Lime Leaf had so many noodle dishes to choose from, all at similar inexpensive prices, and with the option of meat, tofu or veggies. In addition to the easy menu, we got complimentary soup and spring rolls when we sat down! Service was really quick too, I think the food was out within 5 minutes. This was our big night out in Spartanburg and my coworker said we HAD to try this Thai place so I didn't want to disappoint him. The location is great, the ambiance is very nice inside with comfortable chairs and very friendly attentive waiters. The menu was your typical Thai menu and then there were some non-traditional specials that looked interesting. We stuck with the old Thai favorites and went with the lettuce wraps, chicken satay, green curry, and ginger stir fry. The lettuce wraps were surprisingly tasty and it was nice that they used romaine instead of the questionable iceberg you get at PF Chang's. Aside from the sweat beading down the face of my coworker he said the Green Curry was outstanding and I was more than satisfied with the ginger stir fry.
