My wife and I didn't want to wait for an hour and half to get into a nearby restaurant so we walked a couple doors down to eat here and we were delighted we did so. The servers although being few were friendly efficient and really helpful. The food was great. My wife had the ravioli with salmon added and for $18 these days we were surprised how much salmon they gave. I had the ribeye which seemed bigger than the 12 ounces they stated...and it was cooked to perfection. The veggies that came with my steak were seasoned with something that made me like broccoli which I normally do not. We also had the rosemary Parmesan fries which was really great. I just moved to the area and found this place. I went into the bar area and loved it. The bartender and staff were inviting and friendly! I forgot how much I love Sellwood as it still has its teeth! I ordered soup and sandwich was tasty as hell. Everything is wonderful. What a hidden gem. Remember there is a restaurant too! The ambience is a bar but chill. The Limelight has a solid happy hour with a really great array of options. Service is speedy and the cocktails truly well done. So many house infused options. The atmosphere is comfortable and older but that just adds to its charm. Loving the outdoor seating when the sun shines! Parking can be a little tough to find but I promise it's worth it. Oh man, I hate to give this review but I couldn't justify a higher rating. Came by on a beautiful sunny day and sat on their outdoor patio table. Our server was super fun and friendly. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my friend had the BLT. The food took so long to come out and the service had to stop by and let us know they were cooking my chicken fried steak so it would be just a bit longer. The food finally came out and my chicken fried steak tasted just how it looked - unappetizing. The piece of steak was thin, almost grey like, a bit stringy? I couldn't even finish it and my friend wouldn't take another bite of it. We told the server who understood but said sometimes people get mixed up with the meat being steak vs chicken based on the name (chicken fried steak). I know what a chicken fried steak is and this was not it. The server graciously took it off our bill which was nice. 3 stars for service and the BLT was pretty good, but this one is not on my return list unfortunately. read more

Located in west Moreland neighborhood, decent bar drinks and food. We got to enjoy the outdoor seating and filled up real quick for lunch. Bartender was busting and doing everything and still super friendly. Did not go inside surprisingly..I hear it really pops at night. . The Limelight is an aesthetically lacking dive bar. I've been here a few times, and each time, the tables have been dirty with no effort from the staff to clear or clean them. On my last visit, my friends and I waited at least 15 minutes for service, and then, I was brought the wrong drink once it finally arrived. The server also did not remove any of our empty glasses from our table. The drinks are stiff, but I'm not sure if it's worth the long wait and poor service. read more

Great location in Sellwood, inviting outside area with mist on a hot day, big menu, extensive happy hour, but bad service and mediocre at best food. Our server ignored us for a long while. We were burning from the sun and she told the table next to us that she can lower the shade for us but didn't ask us, so we did it ourselves. Then she gave us the stink eye the rest of the afternoon. The fried cauliflower appetizer was gross. It didn't look out that good, as if cooked in rank oil. They did take it off the bill without any issues. My veggie burger was OK but fell apart by looking at it. It seemed to be also made up of all defrosted frozen veggies. The fries were decent. The drinks were served in nice big mason jars and happy hour was available to anyone who bought a drink, even non alcoholic. But I would definitely not return for the food or service. read more

The atmosphere is a bit lack-luster. It is a restaurant and lounge. The food was incredible! The clam chowder was fantastic, as well as the Ravioli. Excellent house made veggie burger and fries. Anybody can deep fry food. I came here with a friend for some drinks on the patio (sidewalk) before moving out of town. First time visit. We just happened to order a lot of the same drinks like the Spicy Mango Marg, Infused Bloody w/ garlic, and some Hot Buttered Rum (YUM!!!) They were all really good, and the service was very attentive. Different waitresses would regularly check up on us. We had a good time, but I froze my butt off (I don't think there's heaters -- if there are, it wasn't on our side of the sidewalk which was not under the tarps). Epic job with the covid-safe (aka ventilated), SUPER heated covered outdoor seating AND they have brunch!! The staff are always super nice and attentive, plus the farm fresh ingredients are obvious. I especially appreciate the "build your own" alternative, as that is the ultimate solution for particular eaters. Lots of options for GF and veggie alternatives. Wide variety of brunch cocktails here, as well. The moroccan coffee with extra whipped cream is my personal favorite. read more

I've been here several times since moving to Sellwood and the people here are nice, serve good food, and they have an all-around great vibe. The hummus plate is very good and I've also enjoyed their nachos and their fish tacos. I like the Limelight. Comfortable outdoor tables with a great view of Sellwood's main drag. Reliably decent happy hour food- the salmon tacos always hit the mark. Good beers on draft. Service can be good, or difficult to find, depends. But hard to beat the prices and location. read more

Our dinner and drinks were great. I had the Chicken and brie sandwich. It was very good. We had chips with salsa and guacamole. The salsa was very fresh and the guacamole was really good. Drinks were good too. The o ly issue I have is we were charged a fixed tip for being a large table. There were ultimately 7 of us. 4 were there early and ordered drinks, appetizers, and then dinner. 3 more joined later. We were not informed about the large group tip until we went to pay. We had 5 separate tabs. 2 paid cash and 3 of us used cards. I actually would have left more but chose not to since we were not told up front. I think the 2 couples had to pay a larger tip than they would have or expected to pay. Sadly although the food and service were great we won't be back as a group. read more

We were trying to get a table and they kicked us out for "standing in the wrong spot" while we were waiting on the public side-walk in-front of the restaurant. They said we should "Just take our name off the list." It just so happened that our group included, brown-skinned disabled man and his service dog. The only people being served were white. So if you want to dine in exclusively white company, without having to step around any service animals, or talk to any people with brain injuries. this is the place for you I guess. read more

You really can't order wrong though my go-tos have become the French dip, the quesadilla or the everything bowl. Their guacamole is on point too. Not impressed. The Limelight is a Sellwood staple and always seems to have plenty of customers. Their outdoor seating is covered with heat lamps which is a huge find these days. They have decent cocktails and average food. Some of which is overpriced... $13 for a Turkey Melt?! Come on, this is not Papa Hayden. It's a dive bar. Service is hit and miss. Sometimes you'll get a friendly server, other times a surly one. Last time I went there, I saw two open tables and asked if I could take one. The waitress laughed at me .. "there's a list" and then proceeds to absently write my name on the back of an order ticket to add to said list. We left. And went to Kay's across the street. I can't really recommend this place but maybe you'll have a better experience. read more

JW interrupts the bartender by jumping up in pure joy that Melinda's plus one has just ordered the Darth Vader, some sort of Long Island+Jager concoction, and jubilantly requests a high five -- completely body blocking the server from the rest of the group. I LOVE the Limelight! It has wonderful food! They serve up delicious American food for any meal. The pancakes are huge and are served with fresh strawberries and whipped cream (as well as maple syrup). They have the best clam chowder I've ever eaten. And, the brownie sundae (with homemade moist, chewy brownies) is the best I've ever had!!! The service is hit or miss in terms of friendliness, but it is always attentive. This is sort of a love letter and a goodbye note at the same time. Limelight, I've been hanging out with you for over 10 years but I just can't afford you anymore. I got a BLT and truffle fries tonight. There was no discernible truffle on the fries, and there was more garlic than potatoes. A giant pile of garlic. Where were the fries?... Not worth $13. I got one well drink and then infused vodka with 7-Up, both drinks for $13. So my dinner for one person was over $30 with the tip. What happened to my dive bar? Stopped in last weekend toward the early evening. Walked up and a waitress seemed visibly annoyed by our arrival but let us sit at a table outside. That was the first greeting. Then a new waitress comes to our table and takes our order for 2 cocktails. One is great and the other was syrupy and just plain awful. We ask her to send it back and would like something different. She curtly tells us it will still be charged and we were surprised but said okay. We ordered another cocktail and she came back and said they'd remove the cost of the other cocktail which was nice. You'd think they would have something in place for times like that. We had our 2 drinks and decided not to stay for any more and not for dinner. read more
