I've heard good things about Thunderbird, I'm just not in this area very often. I love that it's a very vegan friendly restaurant/bar! I mean when I first started looking at the menu, all the vegan options were listed first! And it was a lot of options! Then the meat for those who eat meat. Something for everyone. So many options, I started feeling overwhelmed. I ended up getting a sandwich with soy curls, don't remember what it was called, but it was delicious! The bartender was super friendly! He's a Virgo like me! (I happen to walk up to the bar when he and a customer were talking about their signs) I loved the ambiance of this place. The outside is deceiving. When you walk inside it's such a chill vibe and aesthetic. Clean and elevated styling for what seems like a whole in the wall. I went at a rather off time in the middle of the day after finishing classes. The menu is extremely vegan friendly more so than anything else, but everyone can enjoy something. The fries were perfectly cooked not greasy or stale tasting, the sauce they served it with was very good and creamy. The wrap was fresh and the chkn inside was delish, kale was fresh and crisp. The price was just right $12. I did not have any drinks but they had alcoholic slushies (duh) and they looked pretty appetizing. The bartender was friendly and helpful. Great vibes at this place, any location that is covered in plants and weird paintings has my vote. The main draw is that they have a decent mix of Vegan and Non-vegan options, which makes accommodating large groups easy. Pretty busy, but it was also a Friday night. Although the line to order at the bar can be long, they have multiple bartenders so it goes through pretty quickly. I didn't have any drinks so I can't really speak to that. But my wife and some of our friends did have their Impala cocktail, and really enjoyed it. I got the chicken sandwich and it was surprisingly good. Often times you can get really dry grilled chicken, but it was fantastic here. Plus avocado with tomatoes and onions is always a solid combination of richness and acidity. So a group of 4 of us went to Thunderbird on a Saturday evening for dinner and drinks. The inside was low lighting, music playing, lots of seating. We sat outside where there were heaters on timers so it never got uncomfortably warm and didn't stay too cold for long. Now for my favorite part, the food! You order your food and drinks at the bar and a server will bring it to your table. I ordered the Brussels Bowl which had kale, rice, BBQ tofu, and brussel sprouts. It was a beautiful bowl full of great flavor. My husband ordered the TBird Vegan Philly made with impossible crumbles. It looked really good and he enjoyed it. The burger had the consistency of mush and fell completely apart. The bun was beat up and gross right out of the wrapper.You could literally barely squeeze the patty in your hand and have a sticky blob, I'm not sure how they are serving this to customers. Yes, A great place that is open during the day on Monday. It was a little quiet when we arrived, but we told the guy at the bar we had only 40 minutes. He said "no problem," and true to his word we were in and out in 40 minutes. The other great thing is they offer Happy Hour 12PM to 5PM Monday through Friday, so even more reason to go mid-day. We ordered two things from the Happy Hour menu; brussel sprouts and my husband had the Vegan BLT. Both were delicious. I also appreciated that they had fun mocktails. as I currently can't drink and am getting bored of water and tea. What a cute place with FREE pool! I was surprising shocked when a friend asked me to meet her at her local bar. The atmosphere inside was adorable with odd amazing art. They have a gray pool table and the bar is fully stocked. I enjoyed their frozen froze which was delicious. Off of the food menu I ordered their Brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries. I have to say they were delicious. I'm not a vegan but there were so many vegan options available. It's rare to find a good bar with great drinks and food. What's the word? THUNDERBIRD!! If ya know, ya know. Now I'm not sure if they serve up the classic bumwine here but the drinks they do serve up are pretty fantastic. I found this place after seeing that White Owl Social Club kicked their Vegan menu to the curb. Thunderbird is the exact opposite. Their menu is "95% vegan and vegetarian, and 5% for meat-eaters, we are 100% for everyone. With food so good, how can you argue otherwise? We ordered the Kale Caesar and Philly Cheesesteak. The Caesar was fine, maybe could've used more dressing but the star was the Impossible in the Cheesesteak. I suppose it's more of a chopped cheese but I'm not a snob and this was fucking good! I swear by Jay's in San Francisco and this puts them to shame! Flavors of Vegan cheese, Impossible, peppers, perfect bread all come together perfectly. One of the best things I've eaten in Portland! As for the drinks, yours truly finally got to try a couple of sours that are normally made with egg whites. They use aquafaba over here. Turns out, I'm a fan of chickpea juice in my whiskey cocktails. Who knew that could work so well? At $9 it's not too much to ask for an exquisitely crafted cocktail. Thinderbird Bar is one of my favorite places to go with Humam T. The 1st thing I is ask is what the featured cake of the day is. And then I order it! Before I get a drink or have dinner. I like to order the Impossible Burger vegan sliders. The chef does some tricky magic with the seasonings, and they are super tasty. If we're not sharing fries, I like to get tots with ketchup and vegan ranch. The vegan ranch is yum! The atmosphere is so super cool and chill... Music at just the right volume (loud enough but not too loud), and good vibe from the crowd. Beer was a good selection and tasty. I was quite impressed with the way Thunderbird handled our large group that came in yesterday for an early dinner and some drinks. I was worried about them taking 15 orders at once, but they nailed it. Our food came out much quicker than I expected, and they got everything right. The "chick'n" sliders I had were tasty and well presented, and the fries were crispy (but it obviously wasn't real meat). Most of their offerings are geared toward vegan / vegetarian preferences, but they do still have a few actual meat options for the larger burgers. Would have been nice to have a few more meat options, actually. For vegan bar food, this was good stuff, and the service was spot on. Very impressed. read more

I love this place! I have tried their traditional cocktails, as well as gotten their Non-Alcoholic (NA Cocktails) and they hit the spot. Every single food item I have ordered from Thunderbird has been so delicious! I usually don't like veggie burgers, or any sort of sandwich because the bread or bun is a little too much for me. I am not gluten free or anything, but I tried something new the other day and ordered their sliders! They use buns from the Vietnamese Bakery next door (!!!). An Xuyen Bakery is the lot to the SouthEast from Thunderbird. My husband and I have ordered the sweet potato fries pretty much everytime we go, and it is nice to have so many vegetarian options in one place. Additionally, it is nice to have late-night eating available that is open past 8pm with real food! We lived in Hillsboro in 2020, and there was rarely any food options open that late, you either had to drive 45 minutes to go to town, eat cereal or wait 'til the next day. So, it is nice to have something so close to where we live with great food options open late. And, there slushies on Sunday is a great option regardless of what the weather is outside. read more
