I appreciate every bubble tea place opened in rural or suburban area. They are life savers for people like myself who lives far away from Chinatown with a serious addiction to bubble tea... We ordered Assam(black tea) milk tea, taro milk tea and passion fruit tea. I asked for 25% sugar which was too bland. 50% should be the best for Asian taste. The Assam tea tasted authentic, not powdered. I thought of ordering waffles but it didn't look too promising. Price is a bit higher than I expected. Service was good. read more

Worst experience. Thought it would be a fun family experience. My teens had never had real bubble tea from a tea house before. This is definitely not a tea house experience. The staff had no clue what they were doing. Two of them were arguing with each other. Then, we get our bubble tea- it was overpriced water with a small amount of boba. I've had good bubble tea and this IS NOT it. This isn't even as good as bubble tea I've made at home. Each tea is $6+ and I use the word 'tea' loosely. There is no flavor to the tea. I got several different flavors for my family. We each tried each other's and we could only taste a difference with the taro and it was a subtle difference. We will never go back to this establishment. Best thing to do is to visit TransWorld in Hadley and buy your own boba and tea. That's what we will continue to do. read more

I've been here 3 times and twice they've been out of boba???? Like just completely out in the middle of the day with no plan to make more. It's a boba tea shop, what are y'all doin? Also, what happened to the store? In the facility is completely torn apart and dirty looking. In Cleveland, we have a legit lack of bubble tea stops. When visiting Northampton, I became soooo jealous that the town had this fabulous little teahouse. This bubble tea was literally addicting in a way I can't describe. Couple that with being inexpensive, and you have a recipe for a happy return customer. My two favorites were the Honey Jasmine Bubble Tea with boba (super refreshing) and the Jasmine Milk Tea with boba (thicker, like a milky dessert). Nothing was instant, everything was made fresh, and you can actually see things being steeped and brewed, which proves that they get the art of bubble tea. The menu also had some fancier selections, like Gen Mai and Lychee. The gals were really helpful and let us sample things before we committed. The interior had plenty of seating, a painting of Nick Offerman (because why not?) and a cute book of post-it notes. Apparently, they used to encourage patrons to decorate post-it notes and place them around the teahouse. They've since memorialized them all in a giant book, but I wish they'd bring that back, because its such a cute idea for this neighborhood gem. If I lived nearby, i'd probably be here everyday. Having been through hundreds of times now it seems undeniable that this business knows what that demographic wants and delivers it extremely well. It's not my cup of tea, but for these youngsters in the under 35 crowd it's quite the phenomenon. I've never been to Northampton, but was in town for an interview. Being from Boston and NYC area, I was a little hesitant at first to try boba outside of larger cities who do boba right. But I'm glad my intense post-interview snack craving led me to try this place, as it was definitely comparable to the boba I've tried! I ordered the Jasmine Milk Tea with boba. Tea flavor was just right, not too too sweet. Boba bubbles were chewy and the perfect texture. Also to my pleasant surprise, this place had honeycomb egglettes!! I was so excited to see this, since I've never tried egglettes outside of Hong Kong. I tried one with condensed milk -- it was warm and crispy and satisfied my post-interview junk food craving. Was going to save it to munch on during the drive home, but I finished it while still in the store! I don't know the baseline quality of bubble tea in Northampton, but comparable to quality in larger cities like Boston. Their egglettes are also the perfect snack to munch on. I strolled into the Limered in Northampton today. I noticed the workers were on their cellphones immediately and completely ignored the fact we walked in the door. I also recalled one of the workers having very long black hair. As I received my drink, I was immediately displeased. It was leaking and spilling all over me! Horrible covid setup! You can barely get in the door to place an order. Not handicap or stroller accessible. Staff was as dull and impersonal as could be and then he turns and asks if we want to tip him.. waited 10 mins outside only one order can be placed at a time (maybe 3 people can fit in the tiny space they allow you to step inside and order at). Once we ordered 4 drinks we had to go back and wait out in front on the sidewalk while people are trying to walk by. After waiting outside for almost 10 minutes while they prepared everything we realized they only made 3 drinks and 1 was overlooked while ordering so we had to order it again and then pay for that one as well amd wait even longer. Poor customer service. Not a good way to run your business. Too much of a hassle and too much precious time wasted just to get a simple drink. While the drinks themselves were tasty (this the 2 stars) I just can't see myself doing that all over again just for a drink. Now I need to go get myself a REAL drink! read more

This West Coast gal gets mighty cranky with bad bubble tea experiences. Thankfully, I have found my saving grace in (who knew!) Western Massachusetts. You've got to be kidding me... The staff are super friendly and notice when you return, which for me is more like once to twice a week. No shame here, folks...although my wallet is a little angry. The regular boba is made to perfection. Not too squishy, not too hard. Just. Right. Although the milk teas are made out of powder, there is enough mixing involved that you can hardly tell. So far I have tried taro milk tea, regular milk tea, and grapefruit tea. I have tried the regular boba, the mango burst? boba (Not really my thing. This was described to me as "Gushers." Go see for yourself.), and lychee jelly. The regular tapioca balls and the lychee jelly are my faves. A staff member suggested grapefruit tea with lychee jelly- delicious! Bon apetit! :) P.S. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of LimeRed is the friendly, personable, and charismatic staff like Ray, Joe, and others. It is definitely comforting to walk in there and have the workers notice you and make your day, especially after a long tiring day of work. For a place that is small, they sure have a wide range of selection of drinks and toppings. This is one place where they have perfected the craft of cooking tapioca pearls (not too hard or mushy). I especially love that you can adjust the level of sweetness to your need, e.g. if you want half as sweet, simply request 50% of sugar. My classic favorite drink to get is the assam black tea with only red bean topping with no sugar. My boyfriend loves trying a new drink each time, and he has not yet been disappointed with any of them. Ps. their music selection is what makes the place even cuter. read more

After graduating and moving away from the area, I missed LR. So when I was in northampton this past weekend, I had to make a stop to this new location. I'm so glad I did!! My drink was perfect as usual and it just as welcoming as I remember. My all time favorite and go to drink is the grapefruit green tea with mixed jelly. this was recommended to me by Joe and Ray (owners of LR) when I used to frequent their amherst location. It's hard to come across good bubble tea places in the states, this one's one of the best ones I've been to - nice atmosphere and friendly staff. the drinks can sometimes get too sweet, so ask for less/no additional sugar for a "healthier" option. Your order will still be quite sweet because of the sugars in the toppings you pick. i recommend matcha milk + lychee jelly + red bean + no additional sugar :) read more

Most of the time, I've enjoyed their bubble teas well enough. Definitely not my favorite, but it hits the spot. I actually think I prefer their warm teas - the boba is a little chewier and the flavor is just plain better. I also like that they have lychee jelly (though it's not the best I've had) and popping boba. But every now and then something about the tea just tastes off, like it has a bitter aftertaste. Also, I've gotten sick after drinking their teas once or twice, though I do have a weird stomach so it's probably just me (especially since most of the time I had their tea I was totally okay). Also, it's definitely on the pricier side, especially in Northampton. I'm kind of conflicted over whether to give 3 or 4 stars, but settled on 3 stars. The employees were really super-friendly, super-nice, and super-helpful. I thought the bubble teas were just "ok." We had some trouble making up our minds about what we wanted, so the employees gave us tastes of different teas, different flavors, and even the different "bubble" options. (LimeRed had regular tapioca bubbles, and some kind of "pop" bubbles with liquid centers.) We certainly appreciated all the different options for non-milk tea, milk tea, and all the different types of bubbles. And LimeRed has many, many options. And it was really nice of the people working here to let us try so many different options before we bought our teas. My main gripe is that the teas were OK and thirst-quenching, but tasted a little artificial. We were told that the fruit-flavored options included real juice, but something about them tasted like flavor additives. Also, the banana-flavored drink included banana powder rather than fresh banana. We would probably go back, but it would be nice if they made their teas a little more natural tasting. read more

I absolutely love the strawberry bliss smoothie with ice cream! It's amazing! That being said, I have NEVER been to an establishment with such rude employees. There is one woman in particular that is just so mean. I went there one day with friends and she screamed at us when the door accidentally hit the wall when we entered the store. She has rolled her eyes at ever of my friends and made rude comments. I went in there the other day, and she refused to make certain menu items even though the store did not close for a whole 25 minutes. This woman is rude, unprofessional, and should be fired. The place is small. I think they could do better with the decor. Staff was average, nothing that is worth commenting about. I got the milk boba tea. It was surprisingly good. I can actually taste the tea! Some places that I had tried often drowned out the flavor of tea with milk and sugar. This was slightly sweetened with just the right amount of creaminess so the flavor of the tea shines through. All together, I'm glad I gave it a try. First bubble tea, grapefruit flavor. My son who lives in England insisted that I had to try one since I never have before. It's an interesting concept. You drink through a fat straw that also pulls up little gummy things from the bottom of the cup. So you sort of drink and chew at the same time. It was a really hot day so the grapefruit was very refreshing. Not sure I need the bubbles though. And I can't imagine drinking hot tea through a straw to get the bubbles.
