Tried Limoncello for the first time tonight and was really satisfied with the experience. For a Monday night, they were jumping which was so nice to see for the neighborhood. We had: - Arancini: absolutely delicious - Bread with truffle butter: really really delicious - Caesar salad: really good. They served it with the leaves uncut so it held all of the cheese and breadcrumbs well - Sausage broccoli rigatoni: delightful. The sausage was light and flavorful - Spinach ravioli: amazing. Delicious and creamy The service was kind and attentive. It did get a bit loud in there but it's nice to have a lovely atmosphere for a Monday evening in downtown La Mesa. As someone who lives nearby, I was really, really excited to try this place. I saw they had a restaurant week tasting menu so we thought this would be the perfect time to try. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience last night. Ambiance: it is VERY bright in there. Service: it was not super busy and service was pretty slow. It took a while for our server to come and get our initial order, clean up dirty plates after first course or even check if we needed more water. Drinks: I ordered a mocktail mojito and the drink tasted bad and like dry soda water. We let the server know and he took it to make a new one. The "bartender" added drops of syrup to the existing drink, stirred it with my straw and then poured it into a new cup instead of making/shaking a brand new drink. Food: the only good things we had were the assorted bread (listed as a side on main dinner menu) and the meatballs. The salad I was brought was a very plain salad and nothing at all like the description on the menu (I was not told they were out of anything so getting a completely different salad was surprising). The pollo Toscano entree - chicken was extremely tough to cut/chew. The potatoes were hard and bland. My entree was missing broccolini. Lasagna - presentation alone does not look like lasagna. Cutting into it, there was very little meat and cheese in between, just layers of pasta. Both entrees came out luke warm at best. Very disappointing for what we paid. I was still hoping to give this place another try, but after the entrees came out and seeing how they "remade" my drink, we won't be coming back. read more

I've wanted to try for their authentic Italian dishes plus experience the fabulous decor! We came for an early dinner (5pm) and the place was already packed! A few disappointments, but nothing major - basically, it gets pretty loud as the nite progressed (probably due to a packed restaraunt in a small space)...Lemoncello Martini with a lemon popsicle was delicious!! Espresso capaccinos were also perfect! I was excited to try the Branzino & was not disappointed, especially with the presentation. All pasta dishes are fresh & tasty. Insalatas, strawberry & beet were yummy too. Loved the portobello mushroom...fresh breads with their special butter were a must! Lastly, tiramusu was delicious, but the single serving canolli filling was perfect, but the shell was a bit harder than expected. We went there last night and it was a bit crowded with the Valentine leftover dates. This is probably the best Italian restaurant in all of East co. Service was great and friendly and the food was PERFECT. Only complaint I have are the acoustics, the noise level can be unbearable when crowded, especially if you are trying to have a conversation. It's like they say, it's so crowded, nobody goes there anymore! read more

Overall I wasn't very impressed. Atmosphere - very cute interior that is good for dates or bringing the little ones. Love the incorporation of lemons in some of the designs too. Service - pretty slow. It took a long time between each segment (drinks...order.... Coffee...dessert...check). Maybe the ratios of servers to patrons is low. Or they are overtasked with making drinks. But it was just slow. Food - really nothing really good and one thing bad. Had the meatball appetizer, arancini, bread, parppardelle, spaghetti pistachio, tiramisu, and coffee. All of these were ok, but nothing really different from every other Italian restaurant. Except the spaghetti... I believe they just way overcooked it, but it was mooshy. I don't know if that was an effect from the crème of the pistachio but yes... mooshy. read more

I looooove this Limoncello! We live a couple blocks away and this is our go-to Italian place in The Village. Always request Victor and Miguel...they are the BEST! My girl friend and I came for a food blogger event at Limoncello today and Sofie practically ran the show. she was very descriptive of all the dishes sent out, made sure all drinks were filled and everyone had what they needed. Would go back and specifically request Sofie as our server next time! P.S. Beautiful Saturday at La Mesa Holiday in the Village! My friend and I were walking by the restaurant and saw there was two seats outside. They sat us right away. Stopped by on a weeknight with some friends. It is a cute little spot in downtown La Mesa. We needed another restaurant in the area! We tried a few things on the menu. Started the night with the Paloma-tini. I finished it but it wasn't that great. It was the only tequila option on the menu so I took my chances. For apps: we started with the pane fresco. I just felt that it wasn't anything special. Just bread that you usually receive free on the table. The arincini had mushrooms in it which I liked. Strawberry and beet salad was refreshing. I enjoyed the whipped ricotta. For main entrees: my favorite was the panzerotti. We also had the casarecce Al Rafi which was good. I'm not a huge fan of egg plant but it wasn't overpowering. Lastly, we ordered the chicken based off of the servers recommendation. I wouldn't order it again but I'd be open to come try a few more things on the menu. read more

The service was super nice and sweet but she was a little slow. The overall restaurant was really nice and modern; the design is cute and trendy-makes you want to eat there. I think the food here is over priced for what you get. 9 dollars for a side of mushrooms, that we're lacking flavor. The fresh bread is amazing, can't complain there. The Caesar salad was decent, pretty basic for how expensive it is. My wife got the gnocchi which was the best dish. One of the best lasagnas I've ever had. Have family in Foggia and spent summers eating food there and in Padua. Miguel recommended food and drink flawlessly, made our evening wonderful and everything hit. Also had the brie with orange marmalade, and my SO had the Nero pasta with seafood. We went here on a Monday night and were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and friendly staff. The decors is very European bistro with small marble tabletops and a very unique round green couch (center banquette) in the middle of the restaurant with tables and seating around it and a giant bouquet of flowers topping the center of the couch. Hard to describe, so you'll have to go see it. The ceilings are arched and the pictures of Audrey Hepburn, flower lighting, and lemon wreaths set an upbeat mood, along with the light background music. The food? Incredible! Every once in a while, you find a restaurant where they blend the flavors and come up with very unique tastes. The Portobello and Insalata Amalfi appetizers were delicious. I'm so excited to see a place like this open in La Mesa Village! My husband and I brought his parents here on a Monday night for a table of four. We ordered a variety of entrees that were all delicious! Including the Casarecce al ragu, papperdelle, pollo alla erbe, and the Bronzino. Everyone inside was friendly and the decor was super cute. The only downside to our experience was that our food didn't come out together, almost 20 minutes apart for a few of the dishes - so we didn't all get to eat together.
