I appreciated the olives and onions in the dish as well, and the sauce was great with the bread. Our server was extremely kind and offered to split the salad for us. My boyfriend loved the salad and loved the pairing of the greens, goat cheese, and walnuts together. He got the lasagna for the main and noted that there were about 12 layers beautifully stacked upon one another. My linguine was delicious and packed with seafood which was cooked perfectly. The texture of the linguine was delicious and seemed home made. Overall the food and service were excellent. I'm so glad I found a gem near my home and will be back to try more of the menu.

Initially, the server seemed dismissive and had a condescending tone, interrupting us frequently without letting us complete our sentences. After addressing this behavior with him, he slightly improved but still didn't fully engage with us, choosing instead to converse with his coworkers mid-order multiple times. The meal for two totaled $160, which felt steep considering the food's basic and bland nature. The seafood, in particular, did not meet our expectations for restaurant quality. Given it was restaurant week, this might explain the dip in service and food quality, but it doesn't justify a return visit from us. There are numerous Italian restaurants out there delivering exceptional service and culinary delights. Perhaps the initial service issues severely tainted my overall perception, leading to disappointment in both the dining experience and the cuisine offered. We had stopped eating, ran out of drinks, and still couldn't flag anyone down to get our bill. It was frustrating and definitely affected the overall experience. Do not fall for all of the hype around this place! We then tried the fettuccine thinking it would be great, yet it was a fail too just being plain and tasting like tomato sauce. Then, we thought the lasagna was gonna taste good, yet just like the restaurants name it is sour! We then got sprites, and 4$ for each which wasn't even used with a refill, and it was so flat! And the waiter even persuaded us with bread, but it was 5$ for cold bread and non-melting butter. I was exited to try this new place at la Mesa a couple of weeks ago and I did love it, but I was there yesterday and the food wasn't as good as the first time that I was there. It's been just two weeks and now something is off about it, I didn't like the way that my pasta was cooked and I do love hand made pastas, but this one was hard to chew on (not even all dente, in case you're wondering) and wasn't as flavorful as before. I'm kind of disappointed about this place now. Service was okay, and for my taste the ambience was kind of loud, I know it's a new restaurant and maybe the cooks were having a bad day at work but when you go to a restaurant that you like and you are expecting to have something that you already tried before and you get something totally different that.... The pappardelle I ordered was truly outstanding--seriously one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. But honestly, the entire evening was elevated by our server, Mateo. He was so attentive and personable, making sure we had everything we needed without ever interrupting the flow of conversation. He made a great wine recommendation and his timing for each course was flawless. The entire experience felt seamless and special because of his professionalism. Everything started great, they even had my favorite beer Schmidtwick's. The food was delish and presented well. Our server was attentive and kind. The place was neat and clean, great for a mtg... The general manager came over and chitchatted with our table. I was the one who called the meeting, I chose the place via Yelp reviews. However, when the GM found out it was all three of our first time he proceeded to hand out his card. The guy that met me there was handed one, then my son who lives in Irvine was handed one. However, when I reached my hand out, he hesitated. I told him we don't live together (speaking of my son who was sitting next to me) and he started to hand it to me, but then pulled it back. He informed me it's in case we come back... funny, our topic of conversation that day was how hard it was for women growing up in my era and working their way up the ladder... how times have changed. Upon leaving, my guest laughed and said his wife would've gone ballistic at how the only woman at the table was treated. The GM appeared to look like we were the same age. I was quite insulted by his behavior. I hope something can be learned for my honest review. I did get a card, but I don't think I'll be back.

On to the entrees. They were huge! I had lasagna. I think when you see it delivered in a sea of sauce you need to be a bit wary. The sauce was spicy, as it should be. Noodles were thick and prominent . Sadly that left little to no room for my favorite part - cheese and meat which were limited. Dad gave the manicotti a try which was ok. Mom had eggplant parmesan, one of her favs. Her sauce was a little bit tart. Eggplant was a nice moist and tender slice with just the right amount of cheese. She loved how the strands of spaghetti wrapped around her fork so she could dip it into the sauce without a spoon. Yup, she really liked the Pasta. Overall she felt it was a nice Italian meal.
