So I took my car in. A relative of mine mentioned that he had used their services before for less. The shop owner said it couldn't be done cheaper. My relative said that his car uses the same oil (in a louder tone, I admit, but not yelling, nor was there any foul language). The shop owner was irritated and said that the price was final. The relative deescalated the situation and said that he was just negotiating, no need to get mad. I returned to the shop and the shop owner told me that my relative and myself were not welcome back because my relative used bad language. I know I am a biased party, but I can reassure you that my relative did not use any bad language. Second of all, I personally did not say anything except "how much is your service?" and hand the cash to the cashier. You can ban me too if you like, but at least ban me for a legitimate reason. The shop owner does have the right to decline services. I have no issue with that. I just believe that this was an overreaction plus a false accusation. Either way, I hate giving out these types of reviews... but every once in a while, 1 star has to pop up. read more

They quote you $30 over the phone, which is a great deal (and drive WAY out of your way for), then when you arrive, look at your DMV paperwork like they've never seen it before and are surprised to see you need a STAR certification and send you next door which is $15 more. Is there anyone who is getting a smog check that does not need STAR certification? Never - the DMV ALWAYS REQUIRES IT. This place is intentionally scamming people by not being up front about their smog qualifications. The place they send you to next door was also was highly unethical. read more

Waited around 5 minutes (tiny waiting area inside with three chairs) and paid $28 and was out of there. read more

Great and legit auto services at a fraction of the costs that you would pay at the dealership. The family-owned shop is located on Mission and 6th St. The place gets super busy on the weekends so remember to call before you decide to bring your car in because since there are only a few workers and a couple of spots to work on cars, they might not be able to get to your car if you just bring it in. The owner knows Cambodian and his wife knows a couple of other Asian languages, like Chiu Chow. Service is quick, efficient, and just like what you would get at a dealership but for a fraction of the cost. To my surprise, the smog check took a little over 15 minutes, and all while Peter was helping out another customer and giving instructions to his mechanics. Man, that guy can really multitask. My gf has always told me about mr lim n his shop. I work in the valley so i usually have auto work done out there while im a work. So today i brought my whip for brakes, rotors and possibly a flush at 8a on the dot. He consulted me on my request and said i can do it today. I dropped the whip off and went on my day. I recently got some work done here for 2007 accord. I got power steering and brake flush. In addition, I had all four my brakes changed front and back. They did a pretty good job. Seems to be no issues. I did it a nick of time. I didn't have to change my rotors. They are way cheaper than the dealer. I'm coming here for my maintenance. The price was reasonable. I had three interactions with this auto shop; and can say that my review might be able to give you an insight of who they really are. Almost half a year ago, I went there for an oil change after reading the positive reviews on yelp. Peter seems like an honest man offering to lower the price if I brought my own oil. I didn't. Anyway, the oil change went okay; I would have given this place a 5 star for that interaction. Not long after the oil change, my 2007 Camry started making sounds when I drove. I went back to have them check it out. They said that the alternator needed replacement. I went online on my phone to do a price comparison. The price they quoted me was what a refurbished alternator would cost rather than a new one. They did not make that clear that I would get a refurbished alternator. I understand it's no big deal - probably the industry standard to NOT disclose anything that possibly would turn the customer away; but still, somewhere deep inside of me told me that I had a right to know. 4 star for this time. Two month passed with no incident with the " BRAND NEW" alternator they had replaced. Then, all of a sudden one morning (which was two days ago), my car would not start at all. I thought my 07 Camry probably had electrical or battery problems. I was busy today, so my father-in-law towed the car to a mechanic he knows very well. That mechanic said that the "new" alternator is the problem. I called Peter at Lim's auto since "One Year warrantee" was stated on my receipt. He was not friendly at all upon learning the problem. "I CANNOT give you another alternator to your mechanic, " said he, "tow your car here, I'll replace it for you if it's broken but I'm NOT responsible if ANYTHING else has a problem." That was a fair statement but I did not like his attitude AT ALL. You should be at least apologetic about all the hassle you have caused me. My father-in-law had my car towed there right away. Peter looked at the car saying that the alternator was not replaced by him. But instead he points at the receipt it was the car's other part. What? The "brand new" alternator is so shiny. I didn't have anything else replaced for the past few years. In the end Peter remembered it WAS his shop that did the work; but he said the problem was actually the BATTERY that needed replacement this time. No way we'll have you trick us. My in-law already had everything checked out. The "new" alternator was the only problem. Of course my car battery is low after trying to start the car over and over again. All I needed to to do is to have the alternator replaced and charge the battery with a jumper. Besides if I really needed the battery changed; it's under warrantee. Of course Peter has no incentive to tell me that. In the end, he had to do what we asked, my car drove just fine after another "new" alternator. This was a negative 5 star experience for his dishonesty and rudeness. Oh well, let's just round it to 1-star. Afterwards, I started pondering. Did he mess with my alternator when he did the oil change so that I could go back to him for more service. Hmmm I actually feel bad for thinking this way but I can't help. You never know. All I know is that he caused me to have to pay close to $100 for towing my car today. I would have given him a much more positive review if this is what he said instead. "I'm sorry for causing you so much inconvenience. But I hope you understand that we get the alternators from a supplier; which means we have no control over its quality. I'll replace it for you. Hopefully that would solve the problem. Again, I'm sorry that you have to pay the towing but I really can't cover that." A word of advice, yelpers "Always watch your mechanic doing the work and act like you know what they are doing. You never know what they do to your car when you leave." Once again Peter, I'm not accusing you of anything; but I was really dissatisfied with how you handled the issue." read more

Okay so I was just there to get my car checked and saw this Chinese customer having an issue with a previous work they did on their car. I was wondering why they were making racist and derogatory comments toward this man who didn't speak any English. I speak Chinese myself and I didn't like the way they treat their customers and felt that if I ever have a problem with their work, I'll probably end up in the same situation. I didn't want to get involved because they might screw with my car too, so I just left. I'm giving them a 1-star for having no honor and pride in their work based on my observation of how they treat their customers. read more
