Love the place. It was recommended to me by close family and can't say enough how thankful I am for the recommendation. Had a problem with my A/C and most places were trying to charge me $100-$150 just to tell me what's wrong with it + labor & parts. Mr. Lim told me that he will charge me $30 for the diagnosis (only if I don't get it done at his place). Great Service! I called in the morning to ask for pricing on a smog check, and was told to come in and everything would be done in 15-20 minutes. I didn't pass my initial smog test due to missing data (within the electrical system), but the owner told me what I needed to do to fix the issue. I came back that afternoon and passed. I went to Lim's for a $30 smog check...yep only $30. The wrenchers are big guys but are friendly and knowledgeable. I was watching them do other work while I waited for a smog check. They shop is small but they all work together to get the work done and it's kind of like car tetris as they move the cars around working in sync. My only grip is that I noticed they don't use fender covers (at least on that day) when they work on your car. One wrencher was changing out front struts and was working between the engine and the front wheel well. I didn't see him scratch anything but I think it's good to see shops use fender covers when they are leaning on your fender and with tools all around the area. That is my preference and I must admit I am picky and I know my cars and engine more than most people. IMHO. read more

The owner and his wife (she is the receptionist) are awesome! They speak several languages so my friends who don't speak English can come and speak to them in their own languages. They are always friendly, hardworking, honest and VERY busy. We recommend all of our friends, church members and such to come here. All of our friends and connections have had the same experiences as we have! We have friends who drive for hours to get their car serviced here. He changed my brother's engine for free because it broke under warranty. He makes good on his word! read more

Got my smog check done here. Great price and I didn't even need my DMV papers. Finished the job pretty fast and Peter was very helpful.

My car ran out of battery couple days ago so I got my car towed here per my uncles recommendation. I was extremely upset because it was the first time my car ran out battery while I was driving. So, I left my car in the care of Mr. Lim and I got it back in perfect shape! I also did an oil change. I actually called the shop next door, Red Box, which had quoted me $40 for a Star Smog check. When I arrived, I told the owner about the quote, and he just nodded. As I was leaving, I saw the shop next door, but I was done, so I left. Not sure if I was overcharged, but I'm satisfied with the service. read more

I finally found a good and honest shop! Believe it or not, my mother recommended this place to me. At first I was very sceptical of an ex Tune Up Master, but as I was overseas on assignment my wife took my mothers' advise and took her 1990 Jaguar after rear shock replacement at Grand Prix Tire/Automotive of Monterey Park(which they wanted my wife to pay an extra $600 to fix. After inspection, Peter the owner told my wife that the problem was the shock was not installed correctly and not seating correctly in the shock towers. Peter then did the correction on both rear shocks for $100 and noise disappeared. Subsequently, my wife took the car in for other small things and Peter didn't charge anything. After I came back 10 months later, I went to Lim's and thanked Peter personally as I myself is a gear head and is somewhat knowledgable with older high performance rods. Ever since then I had Lim's had redone a head on my cherry 88 BMW 325, brakes for my other 89 Jag VDP, all the maintenance including a 1973 custom Porsche 914 with a SBC 350(never lost a red light!). I had also reccommended many friends with Mercedess and other nice wheels and glad to say Lim's is now quite busy. But the purpose of this is that I really appreciate this little gem of a shop that don't over charge or make up un needed works. The other one is in Silver Lake near Hollywood but its too far away and 3 weeks wait for appiontments. read more

A 1 star rating is way too generous for this place. I do not want to even give this place a 1 rating because they do not stand by their work. When I brought my car in, it cost $1290. The car was not fixed and had to bring the car back in. Charged another $650. I do not get it. If the car was not fixed the first time because you did not fix the problem, that should NEVER be on the customer. This place is a total RIP OFF and would never ever go back. I found Modern Auto on Main st in Alhambra, who stands by their work and their prices are much better. I never had to go back from any of Modern Auto's repairs on my car and they GUARANTEE their work. read more

I'm literally sitting in the shop I knew I needed brakes but wasn't sure if it was front or back. Mr Lim checked and told me I needed the front brakes and I have about 4000-5000 miles left on my back brakes. This is very important to me bc he could have just changed both just to make a quick buck. I've been bringing my car to Mr Lim since I had my 1998 Honda Prelude. Although I don't need services as often w my new car I still bring it bc of the honesty and great service provided. read more

Mr. Lim is an honest, friendly mechanic. I've been coming to him the last few years and he is always willing to look at my car even without an appointment. Prices are also reasonable! It's always best to drop off your car in the morning if you can. read more

Always taken my cars here for smog. Fyi this is not a test only facility...meaning they do repairs as well. But for general smog checks and title transfers its a great place if you live within close proximity. $30 buks for most cars and its a done deal in my book. Be prepared though, at times it gets pretty packed and his lot is not what youd call spacious. Call ahead or if your willing to leave the car Peter will happily oblige. read more

I was quoted $45 to swap out a sensor on my vehicle by a different mechanic. I called and spoke with Peter and asked if they could price match since his shop was closer. He guaranteed me the same price over the phone for the repair. I came in a few days later and was turned away saying that he didn't have time that day, fair enough, it was late in the day. I came back the next afternoon to drop my car off and he said I could leave it for repair and pick it up later that day. I thought I'd better double check on the price before leaving and brought up our phone conversation. He then tells me it's either going to be $45 or his full hourly rate of $75 depending on how long it takes them, refusing to honor what he initially guaranteed me over the phone. I of course left and took my business to the other shop which got the job done for the price I was quoted. This place isn't trust worthy, take your business else where. read more
